Blinking red light - won't turn on - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

My Xperia X Compact shut off randomly today after unsuccessfully trying to install microG and fakestore last night. It almost had to have been something I did last night, but I'm confused as it seemed to be working fine last night and this morning.
Pressing the power button results in a low battery screen (I know the battery is not actually low).
Holding the power button results in three blinks of the red notification light.
Holing power and any combination of the volume keys also gives the blinking red light.
I searched google and found some similar things happen to older Xperia phones - and they all claimed it was a random problem not related to rooting, and got their phones replaced under warranty. The coincidence here is too much though - I think it something I did. And obviously my warranty is voided by root.
Anyone know what to do?
My phone was setup using roughly the procedure here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/how-to/guide-root-custom-kernel-clean-rom-ta-x-t3583183

^^This has been temporarily resolved. I plugged into the original charger and it came back on.
Still am not sure what caused this, I'm 99% sure the battery was not dead to begin with. And if it was, it wasn't liking the charge from my laptop. Very odd

Ran into Serious problem, please help

Last night my x1 was fine, before I went to bed, I turn the whole thing off and charge it with the charger. This morning I can't boot up the device at all. Tried remove the battery and put it back still no go.
I notice one thing if I have the charger still connecting to the phone and when I press the power button on the upper right, i see 3 red blinks from the side panel, but again, phone won't power up. What does the red blink means?
I have this phone only 4 days. Should I send it back to manufacture?
you can try to hardreset it
the manual should state how cant renember
somewhere under the batt pressing something
I had the same problem - occasional three red lights flash, occasional red light under power button. I solved the problem by using the search

Never fear all is ok
Perhaps this should be added to the wiki in the trouble shooting section - seems a few people have had this issue?

HTC Magic bricked, then not bricked... strange behaviour

Hi,
few months ago I installed Smoki 0.7.7 for my HTC Magic. Everything was fine till yesterday, when during charging, phone just turned off and didn't want to turn on. I tried everything, removing battery, almost every button compilation (home + power etc.) and nothing happened (black screen all the time). The only thing that worked was trackball + power which caused blue led turn on. Also during charging the orange led was on, but when i pressed power button it immediately turned off. Now the most interesting part... After whole night of being dead (without charging the battery) I tried to turn it on last time, before going to the service and phone started to work, just like nothing happened before.
Now my question is - what could happen and what could be the reason ? I rule out battery (because it wasn't charging during the night) and temperature (because phone was all the time at home).
Thanks
Hardware glitch :0)
Software glitch :0)
Many things could have happened.
It's only a malfunction/error/fault if it's repeatable!
If it happens again, take it to service... if not, then don't worry about it :0)
well, in my opinion something is wrong with your phone...
I'm having the exact same problem at the moment.. Guess I just wait a night before sending it back
Thx for the information

My Desire Z wont turn on... [HELP]

Hey
Usually I dont use caps in titles or "help" "urgent" etc but something has happpened to my Desire Z and now it just wont turn on.
Basically I left it charging with the green led on and when I went somewhere I noticed that the green led wasnt on but I supposed that it was actually blinking notifing me of some notification so I didnt even look. When I got to my destination, I went to turn it on and usual way a press of the power button. The screen didnt light up. I supposed it was some kernel panic or something so I simply took out the battery and put it back in and pressed the power button to turn on. This is when I started to worry: It didnt turn on. I again took it out and in and still nothing. Only at ONE point did it show the white HTC logo booting then it went black again and still nothing.
I came back home and plugged it into the charger, another fear: No LED at all. Im trying it with and without the battery and it seems like nothing. Seems dead.
Is there any other test I can do or something? Im worried about it....
Also, it is rooted so if I return it, I have the warranty problem of not serving rooted devices. And I cant unroot it since it wont turn on.
Please some help
Thanks!
After about 30 minutes without the batter inside, I reinstered it and it was plugged into the charger and orange LED went up I turned it on and it turned on
Relieved but....I do want to know the reason behind this just in case next time....My warranty expires May 5 so.....
On that last note, should I unroot it and return it just to get a refund? Scared something like this may rehappen.
By default, on a nightly, it was on the interactive governor when it has always been on ondamand. After reading a description, Ive changed it to ondamand just in case...
No one answered cause this is really common and you would have found hundreds of these threads if you had searched.
Next time it happens:
Take the battery out
Wait 5mins (not 5 seconds)
put battery in
hold the power button for a few seconds
plug in the charger after the screen has light up (NOT BEFORE)!)
Phone will boot and be charging
If that doesn't work, try again but leave the battery out for 30mins.
If that doesn't work you need a new battery.

Even though it is common, why does this happen?
The technical details behind it always help resolve a problem in the future.

[Red Light of Death and similarities] - Final fix

Hi guys,
just wanted to say that after several months of troubles when i was randomically experiencing the red light issue - mine was not properly what has been defined red light of dead - it seems i can finally fully enjoy my phone.
Please notice i never had black / frozen screen and red light after a forced power off. What happened to me was that i was always scared to reboot / power off, cause many many times (at least 50%) the phone was then unable to reboot/power on, not showing ANY red led, until the charger was plugged in, and a boot attempted: at that point only a single fast red blink was showing up, about every 10-12 secs.
In past sometimes i was able to revive the phone by holding power button + rocker up for 1 minute, but the majority of times i was forced to literally wait hours (4, 8, or more) until finally WITHOUT any charging attempted the phone was able to power on. (and btw always showing battery with 60% or more).
At the end after having tried even the battery disconnection, i bought a spare original battery on the bay, replaced it, and now everything works fine since more than a week and more than 30 reboots / power off, which for my previous troubles is a valid test case.
Hope this helps those of you are experiencing and struggling against similar problems.

A2017G not turning on, notification light blinks red on power/plug in.

So, I went for dinner tonight downstairs and when I came back I found my phone(A2017G) turned off with the notification light stuck on red.
Phone's old, bought it in July 2018(bought it resealed), though I had it changed via warranty after about two months due to the top speaker having the crackling/distortion issue. So I basically ended up with a brand new sealed phone for ~225$ at that time.
Back on topic though, plugging it in, it attempts to start up(vibrates and turns on), but displays the discharged battery icon (as if it ran out to 0 and shut itself off). Pressing the power button gives me the ZTE logo, the Unlocked boot-loader warning screen (which I usually bypass by pressing the power button again), then it blinks red three times and shuts itself off again. It's not booting in recovery either(running the nFound TWRP + crDroid ROM). However it won't charge. Tried multiple cables/charger combos, all act the same. it vibrates, displays the icon, then shuts off.
The device being bricked is pretty much out of the question right, unless it went DFU due to the battery? I've had it unlocked for the past 3 years at least...never had much issues with flashing (apart from the initial unlock which I wanted to be extra careful with but the drivers + EDL tool made it dead easy). And I haven't flashed or did anything of sorts recently.
Now, I'm 99% sure that the battery has finally given out, since the screen and presumably everything else work fine. The charging port has had no issues, always charged at QC amperage, no disconnects or anything, no "loosening" as I've had on multiple other phones. To be fair though , phone had started acting out a bit, slowing down and randomly closing apps...in the past few weeks and knowing the battery had already lost ~1000 mAh, I expected it to give out at some point. It's probably the safety mechanism built into it right?
The phone is old, as I said and according to Accu Battery, it's been at ~70% health for a while now.
Fortunately, a service shop in my country seems to have replacement batteries in an outside warehouse in Germany It should take around a week to deliver one to me, I'll change it myself. It seems to be original also. It's 25$, but I kinda wanted an opinion if I should buy it and replace it. I mean, for 25$...I've got nothing to lose, but hey, won't hurt to gather more info first.
I kinda don't want to replace the phone...since it still works fine and I still haven't found a replacement in the audio department. I've had people around me change their phones(to varying models, from low to high end) and tried each and every one of them(with Neutron/Hi-Res and enhancers off) and none sound as good as the Axon on the 3.5mm jack. The Axon simply works for me. Camera with GCam still slaps proper light pictures and documents, screen + sound is still fantastic for movies/anime at night when I can't be bothered to sit in a chair, calls are still crispier and louder than most phones today.
