Hello
I have a problem I bought an LG G6 H870 everything is fine ...but this phone shows wrong imei like 444444... (I think somebody tried to change imei for not register abroad device, here we need to register all abroad mobile phones) I love my phone and it is not a problem for me to register it, but phone shows strange unknown IMEI number
for OTA I need real LG G6 IMEI, I found it on simcard tray and checked up IMEI via many web sites and its connected with phone serial number and not in black list, so I think simcard tray has my real IMEI number.
Everything what I want it is just to back my real IMEIto get OTA updates and have a proper IMEI. but I do not know how to back my real IMEI please is there any way to do that?
I can't find seller, he is not responds anymore, so I can't back phone to him
So you stole it?

me? not, I bought it
but im my country if you want to get a phone from abroad you need to register it and its not free of charge,
in other case phone will be locked at all networks.
all phones which sales inside country has a very high price because of taxes, even iPhone X here its about 1750usd.
so many people trying to change imei for not to pay for registration and taxes.
about me, I want to register this phone officially, but I need to back original IMEI to phone and start the procedure of registration.
So I do not stole phone, I want to do everything legal!
I bought this phone at second hand market, and for now the seller does not want to answer me at all.
So someone else stole it.

a receipt on second hand market??? its impossible for 2nd hand market, I bought it via advertising web sites where people sales their phones. sahibinden.com
but I did check up by black lists and stolen lists for all web sites which I could find in google written clear.
anyway, I think I found solution, will use that way.
thank you one more time.
well
according the site 4PDA.ru
EU version H870, Service Menu -> *#546368#*870# -> SVC Menu -> CRCWIZARD Test -> Auto MID
restore your original IMEI and write it.

Great, It works ?
My imei is present but I would like to know if I ever lose it by hacking a rom or kernel when my g6 will not be guaranteed anymore..
I keep the info in screenshot in case it can serve, thank you and sorry that some see the evil everywhere.
I think a thief would be smarter and have the means to handle such details, or resell in this state, as seems to have made your seller :/

For me it works, I was really surprised, and a bit confused ...why it is so easy, and why it not protected... I did not want to change imei every day, I just wanted to back original one...
according with 4pda thread it is not for every devices, some people reported that they does not have this block New IMEI, they have just information about current IMEI number and nothing more, I do not have more information, probably it because somebody changed imei before on my device, I really do not know

i have the same issue, i need to change my imei... anyone hint us in right direction, or give us a prog name to search for. mine is htc trinity, (orange spv m700)
As far as I'm aware changing IMEI numbers is illegal pretty much world wide, SuperCID and what not are fine as they don't interfere with the phones IMEI but actually changing it can land you in pretty serious trouble.

it would be nice if somebody has some old code, or even Radio Interface Layer driver code.
I want to change the IMEI of my htc.
How to do that?
i'm pretty sure that is illegal. only the manufacturer can do it legally and its not a service they offer. its something they do if like they take back phones and refurb them and resell.
that is indeed prohibited in most countries
what is your motivation?
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
One reason in the US would be to trick AT&T into thinking the phone is a regular phone so you can get on the cheaper data plan.
but that doenst work like that. At least in portugal, you have APN wich you configure to use one server on another. For instance a blackberry uses net2.vodafone.pt , if we change to internet.vodafone.pt it becomes cheaper the use of a blackberry . Just the client doenst know about it... I'm sure is same thing in the US unless is a CMDA company things must be a bit diferent (Dont know ever worked with that company).
Yes,IMEI change is illegal but i just want to repair to the original.
Half year ago,I breaked my phone, then I sent it to a repairer. When it fixed, its IMEI has been changed.

You can't*... the reason is the imei is based on the phone motherboard. Since they, most probably, changed your motherboard in the repair shop you can't have the old imei as it's no longer that motherboard that is in your phone. You must live with the new imei from your new motherboard.
*Yes there are tools but changing imei is illegal in many states and countries.
I found someone has the same IMEI,so I cannot paly world war game. This online game use IMEI to identify palyers.
Actually,I just want to get a software which can running on android to fake IMEI ,so I can paly this game.
By the way,in my country, change IMEI is not illegal,no one care about it.
I have never heard of any company besides your manufacturer. Or provider having a legitimate reason to know or need your imei and there is a slim to zero chance you will be able to change your imei like everyone says the only reason to change your imei. Is to hide something
There's really NO reason to change IMEI. just be happy with the new one. lol.
As a note to everyone, I WARN YOU TO NOT CHANGE YOUR IMEI! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!
I just want to repair it to the original.

You have the original! Motherboard + IMIE = Original. Your motherboard has changed. But the IMIE ist the original. Just the one from the new motherboard. Live with it.

Allright. I've found a way to do it.
I also did get a new IMEI after reparing the Device. I wrote the storm8 support and got this answer back:
Dear user,
Thanks for your email. I would be happy to help you transfer your existing account onto a new device.
Please be advised that transferring your character will cause your current device to lose access to characters across all Storm8 games; they will instead be available on the new device. We do not permit single-character transfer at this time. If you have created a Storm8 ID on your new device, it will remain associated with your new (unwanted) characters, and you will have to create a separate one for your original characters.
If you have your old device OR know your old account's Storm8 ID information, you can do the transfer yourself with the following steps:
1. Create a Storm8 account and password for your original character on your OLD device, if you haven't already. (On the old device, visit HOME (available level 2) -> SETTINGS (tiny cog icon) -> STORM8 tab.)
2. On your new device log into your account. To do this, visit HOME (available level 2) -> SETTINGS (tiny cog icon) -> STORM8 tab -> Begin Resume/Transfer button -> New, and from here you can enter your username and password and your account will have moved to the new device.
If you do not have your old device or your Storm8 ID information, fill out this form and we will be happy to assist you with the transfer:
1. Original character code:
2. Name of game:
3. Character's name:
4. Character's level:
5. Approximate date you created your character:
6. Approximate date you lost your device:
7. Any other details you can provide to identify your lost character:
8. New character code from your current device(available after reaching level6)(NOTE:THIS INFORMATION IS CRUCIAL):
Note: If you are not able to provide all of the above information, we WILL NOT be able to recover your old character. Make sure to fill out the form completely in your reply. You only need to complete the information for *one* game; the other characters associated with this account will follow in the transfer.
Please let us know if you run into any trouble with the process; we're happy to help!
Yours,
Support at Storm8

There hardly is any branding. A startup-picture and some web favourites inside the browser that you can delete, maybe a provider-specific app. No hardware branding at all.
But if you mean the SIM lock to one provider than that's what is discussed in this thread.

Has anyone tested this? I tried but software doesn't load properly.
Or is it illegal? I have no idea as i've never done anykind of unlocking/modding before.
That was hardware based tool. You need a SPT Box (which cost arround 200EUR).
Paid unlock details removed - refer to the forum rules please.
I am in a similar situation with a phone locked to Three (in the UK).
I have tried SPT but it won't load with a "Smart card resource manager is not running" error.
The link in the second post no longer goes to anywhere.

Yes, the link in first post is down :-/
it would be nice if somebody can post this unlocking method.

Oh no.... I also bought an Omnia 7 with 3 Austria lock. Can someone plz tell me how I can can unlock it. It s important i have the phone now but I can´t phone or sms with it, that sucks... Is that Ebay Link only for T-Mobile and At&T ? But in the description is sayed that it s for all european carriers ? So can i unlock my 3 Austria phone with this Ebay Link ? Are t-Mobile an AT&T only Examples ?
Thx for your help
I think you will be OK. Reading some of the feedback it would appear that 3 ,Orange and T-Mobile phones can all be unlocked. Why not send him a message and ask him specifically about 3 Austria.
I used this bay seller and i got the code back the same day and it worked fine.
My only problem now is that i can't get the internet to work? Calling and messaging is fine. I understand that MMS doesnt work but i cant open an explorer page or anything. I tried some different APN setting but still no luck.
Does anyone have any tips?
I unlocked my phone from t-mobile EU and trying to use UK Vodafone.
Thanks!
I found my own solution! If anyone else need them, the APN settings for Vodafone are..
APN: internet

That's what that code is made for to reset data as in erase data profile. If you want to do it manually ##3282# and you can edit that way.
No offense but your customers are at fault for trying Sprint dialer codes when they should have read (it has been discussed here before) that it will get stuck on the activating/provisioning screen when no longer on the Sprint network. They should have read as I'm assuming they found that dauler code with a google search .it shouldn't be on you.
