Rom compatible with SM-G900A ? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I recently bought a second hand Galaxy S5, model SM-G900A.
I flashed the latest rom I found which has the reference G900AUCS4DQD1
There are AT&T bloatware and customizations that I would like to get rid of.
Is it possible to flash a rom as close as possible to the original Samsung experience?
I only want official rom, no custom rom please.
Thank you!

Anyone ?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-ane4-kitkat-4-4-2-multi-csc-t2813628 ?

Thank you bbsc.
Looks like this rom is for G900F, I have G900A.

I had a G900A AT&T and despite many trials I could not flash it in any way... moved to G 900F for this reason

The number of trials does not metter.
It definitely can be flashed, schematically as follows:
Combination ROM -> root -> SafeStrap recovery -> a good TW debloated international ROM -> the latest G900A firmware only with Odin -> factory reset and enjoy.
But OP wants an official ROM without bloatware

Hey bro, Regarding this particular method which you just mentioned. I've been trying this but I can't get safestrap to install. I followed all instructions I could find. But whenever I tap the button that says install, the installation process begins and it says safestrap has been installed. But then when I check, safestrap still isn't installed. I did a whole lot of digging and saw a comment on a post that says safestrap cannot be installed on KitKat. But the combination ROM is version 4.4.2 which I believe is KitKat. So what workaround did you do specifically to get safestrap to install for this case?

[Q] How to go back to official samsung rom ?

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with a carrier rom and I want to have the samsung official rom.
I downloaded the stock from from this link: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29362
I tried flashing it with odin V3.09, but when the phone loads it is still with the carrier's rom...
How can I completely remove the carrier's rom and have only the Samsung offical stock rom ?
Should I use Philz recovery to install the rom from zip after a factory reset ?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can't because the bootloader is locked down.
There's still no way to unlock the bootloader right now.

I'm not sure what you want, exactly. The 'carrier' version of TouchWiz isn't super different from the 'standard' TouchWiz. Maybe a few apps are added and the correct APNs and stuff are included. But the base ROM is still TouchWiz.
You can get custom TouchWiz roms that have more features than the stock one, but that look and perform just like the stock one. Those are carrier debloated (usually)
Or you can just root the phone and manually remove all the carrier bloat that you don't like and give yourself a 'pure Touchwiz' rom.
If none of that appeals to you there is also AOSP roms, which have none of the TouchWiz UI and look like like a Nexus device.

Hi mate ,
ILO is the unbranded version , should not have any of the carriers bloatware on it ..but it will have Samsungs....
Did the flashing went ok? if you still have philz recovery installed after flashing something went wrong
BTW bootloader is not locked.
Flashing went fine but with no change at all

Hi mate ,
After flashing what recovery you have installed?
Any Odin errors during flashing?
Check this guide

Flash the rom with PIT file ( any of the ones you see there) then after you confirm that the flashing went ok flash the ILO firmware

Some Questions about flashing by ODIN

I brought my Samsung Galaxy S4 (China Unicom version) from China. It was unlocked and I was able to use it in my country pretty well. But I didn't get to install any of Google Apps. And then there's awful Chinese apps that I couldn't able to uninstall. So I downloaded AT&T Official Firmware 4.4.2 and decided to give it a try. I am thinking about install it via ODIN.
Now my question is as my phone is currently unlocked and if I install AT&T firmware by ODIN, will it revoke my current unlocked status? Will it take the device back to the AT&T locked status?
Installing the AT&T firmware will flat out fail. And you don't want to install it anyway, unless you like locked bootloaders.
You need to download an I9500 ROM. We should have one here, on the forums. Installing a ROM will not revoke unlocked status.

My Model Number is GT-I9507V and Baseband version is I9507VZNUBNK1 . And even installing I9507 firmwares failed. Only I9507V firmwares are accepted.
No Google apps so far and these awful Chinese bloatwares. What do I have to do?
I forgot that the China Telecom unit had its own model number. But thank you for stressing it multiple times in bold.
Since the only stock ROMs you can install are I9507V ROMs, your options are to root and debloat the ROM and then install the Google apps, or root and install a custom ROM. This assumes a custom recovery is available for your device.

Open the back and remove the battery. Look on the label. Unless the person who sold you the phone physically changed the label, or removed it, it will accurately tell you the hardware version of your phone.
Given that the boot loader and modem (baseband) are for the AT&T version, SGH-I337, it seems likely that the hardware is I337.
Edit: Also, check that it's not a cheap fake clone. There are apps that can check hardware, and run benchmarks, etc. Search "Genuine Galaxy" on the play store.

I've really no clue. I'm not aware whether an AT&T modem will even work on that phone.
If the hardware is genuine GT-I9505, then you will most likely get a more definitive answer in the XDA-Developers forum for that phone.

It's most likely an I337 with an I9505 system. Either way, since the bootloader is i337, that means it's locked so if it ever was an I9505 it's not now, but mist likely it wasn't ever.
I checked indownload mode its sgh i337....can I install back stock firmware ...see this site http://www.att.com/esupport/softwareUpdateArticle.jsp?sid=KB419415&cv=820
is it possible to flash through odin this stock lollipop firmware?

The boot loader is locked, so you can't do this exactly. You can install stock KitKat, install safestrap, and upgrade to lollipop that way. You need to read through the forums to understand what you are doing before you proceed. I'd suggest you do quite a bit of reading, and only flash when you are sure you know what you want to do.

Start here.

And this.
Or try some of the fine custom firmware in the Android Development forum.

I do not own this phone, so I can't test or speak from personal experience. I already gave you the links to the information you need ^^^. I don't know if you can receive Over The Air (OTA) firmware updates. You may not be able to if you're not in USA. Also, I'm not sure if you need to be on an AT&T sim. If you can, you can get stock lollipop without root with this method: go to the "[GUIDE]Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Installing Safestrap" which is the second link. Go to the second post titled "Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Safestrap Instructions" and click the button to expand the instructions for "OPTION 1 - Stock Lollipop (No ROOT)"
If you cannot receive OTA updates, then currently your option would be to first flash NB1, manually flash the NJ4 update, root and install safestrap. In the Odin to Stock guide, perform both step 1 and step 2 under "NJ4 -- KitKat 4.4.4" After this, you can use the "[How-To] Update to I337_OC3 - 5.0.1 and KeepRoot (4/7/2015) " thread, which is the third link above ^^^.
Your third option would be to wait until the developers post a method for flashing Lollipop directly from Odin.

Now that you have updated your user account, we can see that you are in Faisalabad, Pakistan using Mobilink carrier. As far as I know, you will not be able to receive an over the air update, nor be able to use Kies to update. Someone who knows more could give a definitive answer on this.
Assuming that you will be unable to use OTA or Kies, your options are:
- root, install safestrap, install rooted OC3
- wait unitl (and if) developers post an Odin flashable version of stock unrooted OC3.
As far as your other issues, you could install the NB1 modem (baseband) and see if that clears up the issues, as it was working before.

[Q] Koodo S4 upgrade questions

Hello Gurus,
I have the Canadian S4 (I337MVLUFNI2) running stock 4.4.2. I've just downloaded the Lollipop upgrade from Koodo but did not install.
I'm looking to root and flash CM12 or other ROMs, but I'd like to try Lollipop first.
Few questions about the upgrade:
-Will I be able to root the device after upgrading to Lollipop?
-If I don't like Lolipop, can I revert to my 4.2.2 using my Kies back up ?
-If I want to be able to evert, do you recommend that I root my 4.4.2 and take a nandroid back up first ?
(Battery life is important for me. If the upgrade turns out to be disastrous as some online reports indicates, I'd like to be able to go back to 4.2.2).
-What is the recommended way to root and install recovery for my device ?
Thanks to all..
Do what I did.
Backup all files to PC
Flash lollipop firmware through Odin which you can download from sammobile
Reboot into recovery and wipe data and cache(this will erase everything on phone)
Boot up phone and setup accounts
Then once finished flash this through odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293800
Flash twrp through odin
Boot up and copy files back to phone
Reboot into recovery and flash cm12 or whatever you want
So far, there is not a root method for Lollipop on the S4, nor does Xposed work for it yet (lots of issues with the way Samsung implemented ART to Touchwiz).
There is a keep root method in the S4 general Forum, which is just a way to keep root throughout the install of lollipop if you are already rooted on the current ROM you're upgrading from. I'm on my phone though so apologies for not linking it.
I'm not certain if a kies backup will restore after the upgrade, but even though the keep root method removes safestrap functionality, there is a way to get it working temporarily, which may provide some hope.
Seeing as you're using a Canadian model I don't think you need safestrap, and seeing as I do (AT&T model), I can't tell you how other recoveries will handle the situation.

Need N900W8 Bootloader & Modem & ROOT?

Hi, I have a N900W8 (Canada) and I am in Lollipop. I am looking for the Marshmallow bootloader & modem for N900W8.
Also, im looking to root my phone other than the cf auto root method. Because after flashing the cf-autoroot for n900w8, my buttons stopped working.

There is no marshmallow bootloader or modem.
You can flash SuperSU from twrp.

Just use the latest LP bootloader and modem.

And for the supersu, i just need to flash twrp then flash supersu from chainfire website?
Thank you.
There is no MM bootloader and modem because Samsung never released a MM build for the Note 3.
Yes, just flash twrp and Chainfire's supersu.
@audit13 do you know how to get the modem and bootloader from a stock firmware (tar.md5) ?
Not sure if you can extract it from a stock rom but it may be easier to just flash the entire rom in Odin.

AFAIK, there is no custom kernel that is compatible with the stock Samsung ROM because the Samsung Note 3 apps require a Samsung kernel.

There is a custom kernel for stock note3 lolipop firmware which is called lean kernel, idel kernel, ater97 kernel and shinto kernel.... Do ur research before saying thinks u don't knw about ok bro.
@jgun007, I said "AFAIK", I never said there wasn't a kernel for the Canadian note 3 sm-n900w8 which is the model referred to in the subject line of this thread and discussed in this thread.
I see that lean kernel is for the n900t (T-mobile note 3) which is not the same model as the Canadian note 3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488233
I see idel kernel here but I don't see the Canadian note 3 model listed as being compatible: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/kernel-idlekernel-leankernel-fork-t3241582

I see the thread for the shinto kernel was closed and the last post was in January 2015, about 2 years ago and I didn't see any mention of compatibility with the n900w8: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help/shinto-kernel-t2895089
