I have the MetroPCS xt1765 running lineageos 14.1. When unlocking and doing all that jazz, the guide said that you can't flash twrp, only boot it. But I got annoyed that /data wouldn't mount so I just tried to flash it anyway and it worked. On cmd it said that the file wasn't signed or corrupt, but it still wrote to the device. I thought nothing about it at first but when I tried to boot the device it automatically when into twrp. I tried to reboot to system again, and the same thing happened.
Eventually /data successfully mounted and I was able to format it and install linage. I hoped that would fix the problem but it's still there. I believe I would need the stock boot image and probably stock recovery as well. I hope someone out there has these files.
Also when booting with factory mode, my data isn't working at all. The apn setting are right and all, but it's not working.

When it was booting to twrp only, you just select reboot bootloader and in bootloader select start and you will get system. This twrp doesn't read and clear bootloader control block (BCB) properly which causes this. There is a fix. I'll find the link.
Do you mean fastboot/bootloader mode? If yes, try this

I have unlocked bootloader, flash modified boot.img and recovery but when I boot the device I get 'Your device is corrupt and may not work properly' I then get stuck on the google boot screen. When I go into TWRP recovery it cannot mount anything so I cannot even perform a factory reset.
Please help
did you make a back up?
I didn't unfortunately, I can get into recovery and as long as I leave it as 'Read-Only' it seems to mount everything. I think I need to get a stock image.
Resolved - used a Toolkit to go completely back to stock, kind of scared to try again now.
Follow directions and that won't happen again. Make sure you are on the correct version MDB08K BEFORE you start (you have the OTA), format not wipe in TWRP and you won't get caught in the boot loop.
Failing to do those two things will put you in a boot loop.
What toolkit did you use because i myself have this issue with my nexus 6p

That warning is normal, and should be ignored if you want unlocked bootloader, custom ROMs, etc.
Here TWRP couldn't mount because you forgot to decrypt after flashing the modified boot.img.
If you have further issues, let me know.
A quick advise - Avoid toolkits. They are handy and easy, but if something goes wrong, it will be hard to track down the cause. On the contrary, doing thing manually, will not only make it easy, but will also help you learn more about your Android, and how it works.

I tried to install Cataclysm ROM, and then it went into some sort of installer, after that I tried to reboot, but TWRP said it didn't have any OS?? So i tried to boot it up anyway? but nothing, just stucked on Google Logo. After that I tried to boot into TRWP agian. But then TWRP says "Mount Decrypt Data" and then i have to enter a password?? but i removed my pattern lock before flashing. Because i made a Nandroid and i read i had to remove the password before making a backup. But then i just press cancel. Then it says " Unmodified System Partition" "Swipe to Allow Modifications" and i do that. Now i have nothing on my SD card?? Then i thought i could flash stock through Fastboot/ADB, but now it won't see my device in ADB? I have updated my drivers, both by Google and Intel (Read they helped someone else) But nothing? so i cant retutn to stock and can't boot up.
Please help, highly appreciated
Some how i got i to reboot by an ADB command and then i could flash factory imgs and return to stock.
That very same thing happened to me the 1st time I tried to install Cataclysm. Somehow my SD card got wiped.
I had to start from scratch with the factory image.
I don't know what happened but I have since successfully installed Cataclysm.
Hi all,
I'm trying to back stock up I have booted to twrp 3.2.1.1 with encryption supported and that always hangs at "updating partition details" and after reading and reading it's the twrp that's at fault.
So I wiped the phone again from within settings and then try to boot official twrp 3.2.1. and It just hangs on the splash screen.
So I thought it's not fully wiped, no problems so tried to format in fastboot.
"Fastboot format userdata"
but this gives me
"formatting is not supported for filesystem with type raw"
So now I'm stuck on what to try next.
Right I wiped in stock recovery and got twrp official to start a backup but again it's hanging on updating partition details.
Looks like just I have this problem?
Follow this tutorial till you reach the point of flashing:

It doesn't mention backing it up, and that's when my problem of it hanging starts.
I've booted to twrp many times and always hangs on "updating partition details."
Only thing I haven't done is actually reboot twrp by tapping reboot recovery in twrp.
Would that make the difference before I wipe it yet again?
Hello everybody. After days of struggling with LGUP I finally managed to flash stock kdz file and boot my LG G6. However after booting I am welcomed with "Encryption unsuccessful" screen telling me that I need to wipe phone to use it. When I click wipe button it restarts itself and shows "erasing" but when that finishes it again shows me that same screen telling me to wipe it again. My bootloader is locked unfortunately, so I can't obviously flash TWRP or anything(I have unlock.bin but I can flash it because OEM unlock is not allowed in settings). I tried flashing with LGUP several more times with different kdz files, but when they succeed again same happens.
Also LGUP does not allow me to use "refurbish" flash mode(I can use only upgrade-so I can't erase the device), so if anyone has an idea how to wipe it off or something. I have feeling like recovery can't wipe it and because of that I always get that "encryption" error. I will post pictures for you to see. Many many thanks for any solution!
The very first step before you even thought about twrp since you already had the .bin file should have been to unlock bootloader.

I had the same problem. What I did is use uppercat connecting the phone when it was in this screen to restart the process from the beginning.

Wait, uppercut would recognize phone when that screen is on, I thought phone must be in download mode for uppercut to work? And also just wondering why can't I wipe the phone, LGUP refurbish doesn't work, as far as I know storage must be formated to break that "encryption secure start up". Thanks for reply
In fact the screen is on in that specific encryption error.
In my case Uppercut was able to perform the operation, basically I stop the boot during encryption at first reboot and I had this error.
Thinking the TWRP recovery was able to fix it I installed it but the problem was still there. But with the TWRP on, the phone reset is not working, only way was to restart all the process, formatting the phone to be able to use it.

I was thinking that TWRP can rescue me since there is wipe option available, but I can't tick" allow OEM unlock " to unlock bootloader... So all I am left with is LGUP(uppercut) and stock recovery, and problem is I think none of them can wipe(reset) the phone. LGUP gives me error that "kdz file does not support refurbish flash"(no matter what kdz file I chose) and wipe in stock recovery simply does nothing. And BTW isn't Uppercut same as LGUP just with necessary .dll files so LGUP can work? Thanks

Just wondering so you flash everything while on the encryption screen or you went to download mode
Hey,
I have a moto e4 flashed with dotOS and TWRP, it ran out of battery yesterday, and on reboot refused to boot into the OS. My first reflex was to try booting into recovery, i managed to get into fastboot, but when i try to enter recovery it freezes on the TWRP splash screen.
I tried to reflash it, and although fastboot reports a successful reflash, It still freezes at the splash screen. I also tried to use the fastboot boot command to boot the recovery directly from memory, unsuccessfully.
For information, exact model number is XT1762.
If anyone has any ideas or experience with this issue i'd really appreciate some help !
Thanks

You need to repair your /data
Caution All your Data will be lost. Get a Backup first of all!
1) Go to wipe option in twrp.
2) Select Advanced wipe
3) Tick on to Data and Select Repair or Change file system option.
4) Click on Change file system.
Most of the rom support ext4. but in this time it gave some error.
5) Change the data system to exFAT option and re change option to EXT4.
6) That"s it bro :good::good::good:
