Hi all,
Sorry for the noob question but I have tried most of the repair suggestions in this forum all still could not get back the IMEI, Baseband, and serial number of the handset. Is there a way to program the original IMEI and serial number back into my Galaxy S4 I9505?
The handset had Hong Kong firmware 4.4.2 but with null IMEI, null baseband and wierd serial number. The handset is not IMEI blocked in Australia which I am trying to get it to work.
Would Chimera or Z3x software do this? Kies could not detect the handset for firmware update.
Thanks.

Already tried that. Flashed with stock Hong Kong firmware, modem only, etc and did not fix it.
Is there a way to find out the which is the original firmware for the phone as the previous owner might have flashed it with the wrong firmware?
:crying:
Go here and enter your IMEI. The result should pop up with a great deal of information about your device. Post the result, not including the IMEI itself, and we can figure this out for you.
If your IMEI just disappeared without you doing anything, then chances are you got a hardware failure and the your EMMC chip needs to be replaced.

Hi all,
I have re-flowed the MMC chip successfully. Is there a way to restore the IMEI and baseband without the nv-backup file?
Thanks :crying::crying:
Only if you used Wanam's EFS Backup tool to make a backup. It backs up not just the EFS partition, but the modem partitions and a few other hidden partitions as well. Otherwise you need to use methods we can't discuss on XDA to fix it.

How do I find out the if the modem and IMEI info were still there and not completely erased or gone by the previous owner. I received it with null/null IMEI baseband fault.
You already replaced the modem as it was suggested by someone upthread. That would take care of the modem. There's no way to know whether the IMEI is present or not. It probably isn't present, in which case it needs to be rewritten.

I think the IMEI info is lost so I would need to rewritten as I don't an NV_backup copy
The NV backup isn't present in the /efs folder on Android 4.4.2, at least from what I've witnessed on my own device. That's why I've switched to using Wanam's EFS Backup tool from Samsung Tool as it backs up the hidden modem and EFS partitions where the IMEI actually is stored.
If the IMEI is completely lost, you'll have to take the phone to Samsung for service. As mentioned upthread, there are other methods to fix this, but they can't be discussed here.

Thanks, in my case the modem and IMEI are already corrupted without an EFS backup so how can they be restored except for re-writting the IMEI ? I will look into Wanam's EFS Backup tool to see if I can salvage this mainboard.
I had completely formatted (including the bootrom) my smartphone (Lenovo K4 Note, variant) using SP-Flash Tool, resulting in loss of IMEI, SN, WiFi address etc. At the time I had almost zero knowledge of the various partitions of the smartphone and was under the impression that re-flashing the stock ROM would fix everything if something goes wrong, hence didn't took the back, only to realize it won't if you have also formatted the boot ROM. Anyways over a period of time i was able to fix all things but the Serial Number (SN) which still shows all zeros (8 bytes).
Currently i am running MM 6.0 but it was formatted when i had Lollipop (5.1) (pre-installed), anyways recently i got hold of correct nvram partition image (shared by one of the member on this site) which i flashed it on my phone. After flashing it (using SP Flash tool as well as through TWRP recovery) my phone started to show correct SN value (not mine but the value stored in the nvram image shared by the member).
Encouraged by this, i hex edited the nvram image and replaced the stored serial number by the original serial number of my phone (ensured all occurrences are replaced in the nvram in fact in the whole ROM dump) and re flashed the nvram image. Unfortunately to my disappointment the serial number is again reset to all zeros.
So can someone please tell me what is going wrong here? What extra information is required to fix it?
Please see there are tons of serial number tutorials on the net and probably i have tried them all ( Even tried after reverting to Lollipop 5.1) but none of them works. The tools mentioned in those tutorials either writes "Barcode Serial Number" (Barcode) which is NOT same as the serial number displayed by Lenovo K4 Note in "about phone" menu. Lenovo seems to be using a custom serial number. Or they do not work with ARM64 Bit MT6753 chipset.
I need to fix this serial number as i wish to sell my phone and go for another model.
Please let me know if you need more information from me.
Thanks in Advance
if you made nandroid backup of stock rom then restore nvram and nvdata in custom recovery and reboot
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I didn't created any back up whatsoever.
TWRP doesn't work if you have also formatted the bootrom, which I did (I have updated my query with information)
did anybody got solution of this. hw to change SN in k4 note?
Edit: issue fixed. this thread will help https://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/general/restore-sn-form-00000000-to-original-one-t3356401

Hi. I think you'll get more help if you ask your question in A-Series 2017 forum. There you'll also find TWRP and root for A520.
The files you refer to is probably the nv_data.bin in /efs. I've read it should be possible to restore imei somehow by using hex-editor but I have no experience in that. I also know some older models had a "hidden" menu where you could perform a NV restore but I don't know if it's possible on newer devices.
Anyway, I wish you best of luck to restore your IMEI and hope you'll find someone who can help you more.
Hello everyone, recently I've flashed the Superman ROM V.3.0.1 and everything was fine until I went to general settings on my phone and saw my IMEI is now UNKNOWN. I know this thread may be already solved, and yes, these days I was looking for answers for my problem but I need to know for sure what alternatives I have to recover my IMEI. I have to mention, my phone is 100% original, it has its own IMEI from the beginning, not a copy or MTK device. I saw some sollutions based on some kind of programs to restore manually the IMEI with a command, and this method for me it's not like the best thing to do in this situation..
When I am dialing *#06# I receive the following information: " SM-G935F is not supported on showIMEI ".
I've checked through TWRP ( version 3.1.1.0 ) the partition EFS, is still there ( it has 2mb ). What do you guys think about this? Flashing the stock ROM from sammobile may solve my problem? What alternatives do I have?
Thank you!
I have successfully rooted my phone using twrp and magisk, but managed to lose my phone's identity, I screwed up because I did not make a backup first. I lost imei and baseband version, now the phone can't have a sim, no CDS info, only Wi-Fi is working. Model is XT1761, single-sim, already searched in the whole forum, couldn't manage to find nothing. Tried various nvram files without success. Please help, I am a beginner, and would appreciate if someone could help me understand better if I can repair this phone. Not my main phone, but still, I would be happy to repair it.
