yesterday i change a system file in order to increase volume headset.
i would like to back to the default file because when i put the max volume it's not good for the loudspeaker...
Could you give me the default file located in /etc/default_gain.conf. and upload it on the web (dropbox or others)
thank you very much !
sorry you can delete this post because i found the default file in a Cyanogen Rom for N7100.. thank

It may say headset in the title, but if you read through the first post, it gives details about adjusting system volume levels too. If you are unsure, leave a comment in the thread and @Elements1984 will help you

Yes that file can be edited. You can edit it 'on device' with a root enabled file explorer (I use Root Explorer) or on a pc with notepad(++?)....but make a copy of it first so that you have an original if you need it.

This thread.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729652
Contains a range of flashable zips with different volume configurations. If you have a custom recovery, you can flash them with that. If you don't, you can extract them to retrieve the XML file and manually replace / swap it with your stock version.

I have flash v4 on that thread but the volume is still normal. And on that thread, it's said that "these do not work on G900H"
Then I guess you'll have to wait for elements1984 to reply.....sorry fella, I don't have the H variant so I can't suggest anything else.....
Just be ready with a copy of your XML file....I think it'll be needed.

Hey Keithross39,
nice to see that you're still active in XDA and still so helpful, hehehe.
Thank you for redirecting people to my thread, I will make sure to help TheKingDragon as much as possible, his problem doesn't seem to be complicated and in my opinion, he might also have followed your last instructions for the V4 file (which is too loud in my opinion) but he might have set wrong the permissions or didn't restart the phone, lol. Other than that, it could also be that he used a file meant for another android version rather than another phone model, I doubt the G900H will have any difference in the XML file comparing to the G900F, it's not like they have done a "pimp my ride" subwoofer in the 900H, which then would need a few more code lines in the XML lol
I will reply to TheKingDragon in my thread in the next hour, I still have a guy to finish helping with a microphone volume problem.
Have a great weekend Keithross39
TheKingDragon, please post your XML file in the thread that Keithross39 shared with you in the first reply. I will edit it for you, but what is it that you want to increase (boost)? Phone speaker or Headset?
Hi @Elements1984 glad to see you're still active on here too......
I have your thread bookmarked so that I can easily provide a link to people who will benefit from it......
All the best......

Nice to hear back from you Keith
Thank you for bookmarking my thread, I wonder how to make it a sticky on XDA so that people can benefit from it without needing to search through a million other threads, especially that I don't "bump" my thread to the top, lol. Oh, and I have to find a way to correct the title, since there is a "y" missing at the end of "quality", lol.
By the way, I have updated the original post today since it seems some CyanogenMod ROMs don't have a mixer_paths.xml file but rather another file named snd_soc_msm_2x which is situated in : system/etc/snd_soc_msm
I thought this information might be important to share with you since most roms are based on CM and a user might ask you why he can not find the file for the sound
If you have a bit of time, I have a guy that I tried to help with a bluetooth microphone volume problem but I am running out of ideas, maybe you can bring your input or provide new ideas on what can be done, he goes by the name rk2612 and his first post is number 38 on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/guide-technical-explanation-boost-t3202087/page4
I just finished blindly editing the XML file for TheKingDragon since I don't have a similar phone to try with, lol, let's hope it works fine.
Hi @Elements1984 I'll have a look at the post you mentioned but you are the one with the experience needed to help.....I probably wouldn't know where to start.....
And as for editing the title of the thread, if you use the XDA app (as I do most of the time) and go to edit your OP, you can touch the title and do your edit.....easy as....
I'll pm a mod to suggest getting your thread sticky-ed.....just have to see what they think......

Hi!
Could someone with the A2017U Firmware/Rom go into System -> etc -> mixer_paths.xml -> search for: path name="headphone" -> look below that for a line named: ctl name="HP Out Volume" value="19" -> check what value (19 on my example) you have.
I would appreciate this as I would like to know the value because my device has a value of 19 and the volume is still very low.
20 is the maximum. Use different headphones or do a clean install and re check it. The audio has been increased on A2017G Roms to same as U roms. Its either a problem with your headphones or your software needs a reflash.
Can someone on A2017G Nougat please send me their mixer_paths.xml file uneditted please thank you

I will send you the file in 3 hours.
Can you explain how I should reflash since my last reflash didn't solve it.
Get the full rom image and install it again it either from recovery or update menu settings. should set the volume to the default ones for Nougat.

Did you transfer the Moto G4 Play XML? Don't do that lol.
Just use a root explorer (or adb), and manually edit /etc/mixer_paths.xml. Any values that read "84", change to "92 or 94".

Thanks it's working now!
So after some water damage my loudspeaker can't produce loud sound,it starts to crackle above 75% of volume.
So I want to permanently lower the volume which is usually done by modifying mixer_path.xml values.
But in latest MIUI 8.5.24 I can't find anything like mixer_path in /system/etc
So where can I find it?
if it's not there,is there any way to permanently lower the loudspeaker volume of the device?
The file you want to edit is mixer_paths_tasha.xml ...
This is the file that holds the configurations for volumes...

Yes I searched for that too.
But anything starting with "mixer_path" doesn't exist in /system/etc folder in MIUI 8.5.24
Though it was present in AEX.
