Can you get updates when flashing stock ROM and relock? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

I unlocked my Moto G5 Plus not that long ago and soft bricked it trying to install TWRP. I decided to try to relock the bootloader and was successful. My device has no signs of being unlocked and Google Play says I'm certified and I pass SafetyNet. Will I be able to get future OTA updates?

Provided you flashed and re-locked with the correct stock ROM for your region/device, you should be okay to receive OTA updates. A locked or unlocked bootloader doesn't appear to matter for receiving OTA updates, but having the expected build for your device does appear to matter.

Well, safe to say my device has been restored. Just took an OTA and updated with no issues.

will i receive OTAs?

just a simple question: unlocked my bootloader to try Nougat, installed a custom recovery and all.. Then, I went back to a stock version of MM (somehow made my single-sim a dual-sim in the process but I don't care), with stock recovery and bootloader relocked.
now I'm wondering: will I receive OTA updates from now on, or you lose that when you unlock the bootloader (even if you relock it)?
thanks
You will receive ota updates

"Official" procedure to return to stock ROM + bootloader and receive OTA updates

"Official" procedure to return to stock ROM + bootloader and receive OTA updates
Has anyone been able to restore the stock ROM + bootloader and been able to receive OTA updates? I'm running LineageOS 14.1 and want to return to the latest version of EUI and hopefully be able to receive future OTA updates.
X651, X720, X722, X727 ? With X720 i dont have problem with it. Just follow my guide. With X727, there are some troubles, like locking BL and troubles with make update. You have to read more about it in different threads.
I had to restore my x727 to 19F using instructions somewhere here.
Once restored, it would recognize that i needed an update. It would let me download and even attempted to install but would fail with an error.
Made my head spin for a while, but i think i figured it out and it was (or could of been) a combination for things. Everything had to be stock. So before I relocked and flash the the bootloader, i had to reflash the modems to whatever the 19f versions are. Then flash the locked the bootloader and then I was able to get an official OTA to 21s.

[huawei] [p smart] OTA update working again - what are the consequences?

Hi, I've rooted my P SMART with Magisk (bootloader unlocked, TWRP and so on...). After rooting, OTA updates were unavailable as expected. A few days ago, without any "hack" by my side, I got a notification about a new OTA update available.
It's a full update (2.37gb)... my question is: what will happen if I execute the update? It seems a complete reinstall of the OS, I think I'll lose my data... By the way, Magisk will be removed? Or, worse, Bootloader can be relocked?

Bootloader relocked after OTA

Apparently every OTA update relocks the bootloader. I unlocked my bootloader shortly after I bought the phone, then got some updates, and now when I wanted to try the new Magisk, my bootloader is locked. Is there any way to avoid this? Otherwise I have to wipe my phone after every OTA if I want to be unlocked and have the latest security updates. Thanks.

Can G5+ be upgraded to Oreo via OTA and then rooted

If I end up with the 4/64 variant (then my 2/32 lives on as some backup device/wifi)...pretty sure it still will have stock Nougat. If I upgrade immediately to Oreo via OTA, can I still unlock the bootloader and root, or unlock it on Nougat and then upgrade via OTA and then root it?
Also, true I couldnt reflash a TWRP backup of a Pie ROM on my 2/32 and into a 4/64?
g 5 +moto
re lock ur bootloader back to stock then up grade to 8.1 if ur a senior member you should know that.2/32 4/64 are hardware in your phone .
Not exactly the answer I was looking for. The exact question is, unlock bootloader on Nougat or unlock after upgrading to Oreo? Or get the unlock code while on Nougat, upgrade to Oreo and then unlock and root?
If you're not currently bootloader unlocked, then you'd be best to take the OTA. After that, you can unlock the bootloader and root. If you're already unlocked, then you'd probably be better off just getting a TWRP flashable oreo build and just flash that. I wouldn't take a TWRP backup from one phone and restore it to another, since it might cause issues with things like serial numbers and IMEI. You'd be better making a backup with Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant or something similar. Just remember that unlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone. So if you re-lock it, or it's not currently locked, make the backup before doing that.
Update to Oreo with LMSA, unlock bootloader then root. Make backup before all. LMSA will prompt you to make back up, I think.
