i am running dj_steves 1.5.1 and i was wondering about the following:
Is it possible:
to have the old feature from 1.6 when you press on the battery icon it gives you several toggles?
to get rid of the dropdown status bar (it is really annoying)
not make the icons adjust to the "snap" placement on the screen?
also is it possible to add more icons to the screen than the standard?

The answer for the first question (Black bar across top with drop down bar) is no. The framework has been changed in froyo so without the source code for dell's homescreen UI in 1.6 and 2.1, it can't be ported.
To add more icons to the screen, you're gonna have to use a different home screen launcher. With Dj_Steve's StreakDroid, ADW.Launcher and Launcher Pro are pre-installed.
I use ADW.Launcher and highly recommend it, you just need 30-45 min to sit down and go through all the settings to get it to how you want it.
To switch your default home screen, easiest way is to download "Home Switcher for Froyo" from the market.
Welcome to the forum, a few hints.
Rather than posting another post to follow up on your previous one (if no one has replied yet) please use the edit button.
2nd your question has been asked many times here in XDA and a handful of other forums, so please in the future, search with several keywords before you post.
Good Luck and feel free to ask more questions if you can't find the answer to them.
Thank you so much!
I know that ive read heaps of info and it has confused me evan more.
Model X10i
Android version 2.3.3
Baseband 2.1.71
Kernel it wont let me post this question with this included
Build 3.0.1.G.0.75
All im looking for is a way to downgrade for handset back to Android 1.6 or to change the menu bar at the bottom of the screen back.
I know its probably ptretty basic but im lost. I just dont like the way it looks and prefered the 1.6 style.
Again Im sorry but im a technical idiot so a step by step guide is what Im looking for
I don't know how to do this, but I'm shocked anyone would want to...
1.6 was horrible, and most apps won't support it
Basicly, i hate the dark colour over the home bar at the bottom of the screen. I only use it as a phone with a few games. If someone can show me how to change the transparency of that bar that would fix the problem
why don't you just install a launcher? like adw launcher ex, there's a lot of themes for it and a lot of options to customize your home screen, dock, etc. also there's many custom roms as you can see at develop section, and not all of them are like you say, even some roms come with another launcher instead the SE homescreen
Since the gigngerbread update (official one) I've been meaning to post asking about if anyone know much about the "home settings" tab.
It's accessible by pressing the menu button when on the home screen.
In theme settings, i have mine set to "Android Standard" as I didn't like the "Beyond the sky" theme. If you press on the download more tab you're taken to the android market and presented with a list fan made ( I presume) ahome themes. I've check a few of these out but so far haven't found anything there I liked...
Q's:
What is aHome and if I wanted to uninstall it where do I find it? (rooted)
perhaps I could learn to make my own themes...where do I start?

You can find the launcher in /system/app/HuaweiLauncher3.apk and the Beyond The Sky theme is located at /cust/hw/default/app/BeyondTheSkyTheme.apk
What you can do is either edit the launcher or only the theme (not sure if it works then..). Change some icons, remove stuff (make it cleaner), change colors.
Also if some are interested, the status bar quick settings app are located at /cust/hw/default/app/toolbox.apk if anyone want to edit that one as well.

You need some tools and maybe guides, a nice place to start is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916814 Also just look at .apk and see how they work (what happens if I change that icon etc.)

I just saw a post that was using optimus g pro themes for the g2. How would I access the theme changer (stock) on the At&t version ? Was it removed?

I'm guessing on your phone when you hit the menu key it doesn't show theme so go to settings/Home screen and it should be there.
Depends what you mean by theme. I am pretty sure the stock phone can really just change wallpaper and move icons around. With root access you can install the Xposed framework which allows much more customization which is probably what you want, and with custom launchers such as Nova or Apex you can also do wallpaper changes and run custom icon packs. But maybe the theme you saw was nothing more than some UCCW widgets, IDK since I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

The stock launcher on the G2 has a theme changer and comes with two themes that change icons, walls and the clock widget maybe more. So its basically good for changing icon packs and then just reset your wallpaper after you get the icons you like. Yes you can use Nova or whatever and customize icons to your hearts content but I prefer the LG launcher and I'm thrilled they added this.

Yea I love it, just wish it theme'd widgets but guess i will splurge on Beautiful Widgets/HD Widgets
(stock transparent clock-weather widget would be nice tho)
I'm on the at&t variant and I can't find the theme option anywhere either. I'm guessing they took it out. I can still change individual icons by holding the icon, tapping the purple brush that pops up, hitting Menu and selecting a theme I've installed from the previous thread and then they all show up for selection. This only works for individual icons though and will not help you change the app drawer button, which is the one I wanted to change.

Wow that sucks, makes no sense. I know carriers add bloat but didn't think they touch anything in a UI. This is the theme manager on the G2.

I've got nothing that says theme anywhere I assume it would be. Checked Home Settings and Menu on the Home Screen. Nothing. I'm really bummed about that. I wanted to change the app drawer button so badly. Damn.
Edit: going to try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447311
[MOD] LG Home [AT&T][Verizon][International]
Edit 2: Some things changed, like the blank screen text, but others didn't like the ability to theme. Weird. Maybe that isn't ready for the at&t version of that mod.

Pretty sure I found the apk, I'll provide a link in a few minutes. Let me know if I'm wrong about this so I can delete this.

Never done this before, its my Dropbox public folder I assume its shared. File is uploading slow should be about two more minutes if anyone is awake lol.
In this other thread a guy created a mod that does a bunch of things including giving you the themer, here is the link if you want to try that.

I don't think just flashing yours would work. It might but the guy needed all the files for the models he was building the mod for from the devices he was building for. I think it would need a little more than just swapping it.
And I tried that mod. No theme ability on the at&t version of the phone. Still.

How did you get those themes to show up?
Thank you
I believe the international and Verizon version have the theme chooser, along with the Korean version. It allows you to switch to the Marshmellow stock theme, and others to come in the future. However, I think its apparent that the At&t version is missing this functionality. Would it be possible to add it back in an APK?

You'd probably have to wait for a dev to add it to their ROM
T-mobile version has it.
There's an internal application I found with system tuner called home chooser, don't think its enabled though. Anyone with another carrier version know if this is what were looking for?

Hi, got a question. And no, i didn`t do an extensive search, because lock and icons shows me a billion loockscreen threads.
I got my father an S4(9505) currently running Samsungs Lolipop. He, being not "tech savy" to put it polite, sometimes moves icons or widgets accidently on the homescreen and then wonders where they went.
I already cleared out none useful icons, only the most needed remain. However, is there any way to lock the icons in place on the stock Samsung TouchWiz homescreen?
Thanks in advance

Launchers like Nova and Apex have a "Lock homescreen" or "lock desktop" feature that prevents any modifications to the homescreen. I think this is what you're looking for, but I don't know if the touchwiz launcher has such an option. You will have to dig through its settings.
If not, get Nova, or Apex, or even Holo launcher. They are basically the same and all 3 have that feature.
