Does this phone have a one handed mode, or is that a function of the browser?

The phone does not have one handed mode. AFAIK, it should be included in the ROM. Stock Android doesn't have one handed mode...

lineage have one handed mode and you can select right or left :good:
Don't think the Essential phone needs it since it's pretty compact but there's a one handed mode app you can try.

I own one, so I think I would like to have one handed operation. [emoji12]. Are you talking about the XDA app? I need to get a USB cable to sideload it.

Yeah, the xda one handed app. You need to use ADB to give special permission if phone isn't rooted.

Guys is there any way of having a back button on the screen instead of always using the one on the actual phone?, a friend of mine has a tablet with gingerbread and he has a back button at the top of the screen by the time and battery!

You could use Button Saviour out something similar... But tablets have those buttons because of their big screens. In small screens, software buttons are kind of a waste IMO .
You'd better tell google then as ICS is designed not to use hard buttons.

Oh, so the current flagship iphone and windows phone don't have any dedicated navigation buttons at all, and the current nexus phone wasn't the first touch only phone to market? my mistake.

Is the Galaxy Nexus screen "small"?
I'm not sure if this is a repost but I have found buy swiping your finger up or down on the either sides of the screen, you can zoom in and out in the internet.
Pretty good feature. :good:

Thx for hint my friend but it is a very well known feature in android since early stages
It is the most annoying feature, how do I turn it off?

I have also discovered a useful feature: long-pressing that button on the right-hand side of the phone will power on/off your Note.

I installed an app called Full screen and it worked pretty well until I disabled it. At that point, my navigation bar did not come back and it's stayed hidden since. I've rebooted a few times and reinstalled the app but nothing's making the navigation bar appear.
I'm desperate not to have to wipe the tablet and start again so can anyone please suggest anything?

Download GMD gesture control (adds in multitouch pinching gestures like on the iPad) and enjoy the fact that you no longer have that screen wasting bar across your screen. The navigation bar was the first thing I removed when I got this tablet.
Seriously?
I'm always grateful for any help offered but that's like a doctor telling you to chop your arm off after you go to him with tennis elbow.

Dirty flash your ROM and it should be fixed.

If you mean flashing back to stock: yes that should work.
If you mean clicking factory reset in recovery mode: probably not

I may be missing it, but does anybody see an option that won't wake the screen when a new message comes in?

Dang, seriously? I guess I'm so used to rooted phones that I didn't realize that wasn't just a general setting. We need root bad.

For SMS/MMS, I installed Textra and turned off the native messaging app. Textra allows you to not wake up the screen in settings. Not exactly a fix, but I'm liking the app so far.

Any suggestions on how to flip recent apps with back screen keys? With a pretty large phone like this, just seems to make sense to have keys you use more often closer to right side. Any help greatly appreciated.

Done that and googled before posting. I didn't see an app that specifically stated the purpose I was looking for.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...order-navigation-buttons-sammy-style-t3205367. It's not an app. You have to flash it in TWRP, but it does what you're looking for. It swaps the back and recents button.
