[Q] Nexus 4 CAMERA DISSAPEARING

So I updated to 4.4 kitkat, after the update the phone was operating normally. Then after a few days the device seemed to be missing the camera. The apk file and gallery apk are still on the phone, its just you cant access the camera through the app tray because it doesnt show up. When I installed a third party camera app the camera would only activate the front facing and not the back camera. After you install third party camera apps if you reboot the device it deletes the app from the app tray. Ive tried flashing random camera and gallery apks and ive tried flashing to stock, ive tried putting a apk in system/apps file and then fixing the permissions. I have no idea how to fix this at this point, Is their any way to completely factory rest this and undo what google has done to it.
Settings > apps > Launcher > clear cache and clear data. Reboot. If the camera is still not showing up. Download and install stock 4.4 camera apk. Check themes and apps section for the apk.

Alright ill try that. Google has told me that they have no idea whats wrong and that i should send it in for repair when the camera was working fine before the update. I'm currently using the toolkit for this nexus because adb got tiring.

Just tried that and it doesnt work it rejects the install.
Try downloading and installing the apk manually from PA photosphere, just use something like es file explorer to view inside the .zip file and install gallery and camera.

I did just that and rebooted it and still no camera or back camera support.

Does it say that the apps installed successfully after you install using the APK's? You shouldn't need a reboot to use them or see them installed.
Maybe this is why?

thank you
It could be that your Camera Connector has somehow disconnected itself from your Phones motherboard.
Last month I had the same exact problem as you. After days of rooting, and flashing new roms, I decided to take a look inside my Nexus.
And I found that my problem was that the Camera Connector somehow came loose, so I reconnected it and my camera and the camera application came back.

Google Phone Won't Install

Has anyone been able to install the Google Phone app? It's not listed on the Play Store for this device and I'm not sure why, but I've tried sideloading this apk and it won't install. I have a US version and I'm rooted running xposed if that helps...
Have the same issue but not rooted.

did you try to move system/app?
It's this app completely restricted to Nexis and Pixels now?
http://androidandme.com/2016/05/app...locked-from-installation-on-non-nexus-phones/
The newest update to Google Dialer has restrictions set by the Play Store so only Nexus devices can install it. Not only that, but the new APK also will not install on non-Nexus devices.

You can download stock open Gapps and then flash dialer and dialer framework in twrp. It works flawlessly for me.

You can download the aroma instead of stock so that you would be able to choose the apps you want to flash in the aroma installer
I'm using the flashable Google dialer and contacts from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apps-themeable-hangouts-layers-cmte-t3113192 (down towards the bottom of post #4 - where it says [Link to goodies])
The only thing I notice is the contacts sometimes crashes when trying to add a picture, so I have to use the stock contacts to add the pictures.
IMPORTANT: After you do this, go in and make it the default "dialer", or it will reboot your phone when you try to use it.

I was able to install using Aroma GAPPs, but I can't seem to make it the default dialer. When I open the Phone under apps and click on Open by default, it doesn't give me an option to set it.

You'll want to go to "Default Apps" in the main "all settings" menu (see pic).
Then click "Dialer" and choose the one you want.

[HOW TO] Disable Google Apps [and any other app] without Root in MIUI8

Hi All,
Since in MIUI 8 there is no way to disable the installed apps, here is the trick to disable Google Apps and other insalled apps for the devices without root access.
Things needed:
1. QuickShortcutMaker [Playstore link]
2. Phone with MIUI8 installed.
Stpes:
1. Download and open the QuickShortcutMaker app
2. In the search box type "Installed" and hit search.
3. Select the highlighted ($ManageApplicationsActivity)option and tap "Create".
4. A settings icon will be created on the home screen.
5. Tap the icon and select the app which you want to disable (for eg. Hangouts).
6. Tap Disable (it may ask to uninstall the updates, just uninstall the update and disable the app).
P.S. If you are using Nova Launcher, then you can create the shortcut of the activity by using the widget feature.
Edit: You cannot disable the MIUI apps by this method.
Here is the video Thanks @TheDj408
Nice tut ! Will help a lot of persons
You can directly go into settings and disable it. Then why do you need to make a short cut?

Reboot and try again, it should not happen.
Something is wrong with your phone
I don't know about RN3 if but disabling either Google/MIUI apps in latest MIUI Global Stable results in a bootloop. And if you have not unlocked the bootloader it can be a big hassle as recently the EDL mode has also been locked. Learned this the hard way when my Redmi 3s got stuck in a bootloop necessitating a visit to service center. The Deep Flash cable method is only other way.
I somehow disabled the system's dialer from regular setting. Circuitous but I go there. This was where the quickshortcut took me.
Using quckshortcutmaker would be easier, can be quite a powerful app.

Since when the EDL mode has been locked for RN3? AFAIK it was for Mi5 and others but not RN3.
That is what I had mentioned in the beginning itself. And Xiaomi forums are full of contradictory/outdated info in this regard.
Stupid question:
Why can't we just disable them through Google Play help section, as explained on en.miui.com/thread-490604-1-1.html?
This way we don't need to install anything...
Doesn't work. Doesn't even create the shortcut as it's supposed to.
hey man can I share it to forums?
