Hi guys,
I just updated to Oreo a few days ago. Clean install.
Everything is ok except I can't clear cache.
For example : App info > Clear cache : button is blue, I can press it but nothing happens.
Same in settings > storage > clear all app cache. I can press is but it's never at 0, always 30mb or 50...
Any ideas? Everything else is fine.
OS / Version : Official OOS 5.0
Recovery : blu_spark r74 twrp
Root : magisk 15.1
Thanks
Have you tried clearing the cache partition from TWRP? What're the results?

Hi,
I did, it works in twrp, but then, I still some cache in the menu app info or storage.
But it seems working... I guess, idk
Maybe it's just a display bug
If you got something else, I take it :fingers-crossed:
Thanks and,
Happy New Year!

ok thanks Vabs.
More replies about settings?
OK, here's the process:
0: Boot to CWM Recovery
1: Wipe cache
2: Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache
3: Flash 7.2
4: Reboot
If it doesn't boot, just pull out the battery and go to factory reset. (That obviously wipes everything, but is still better than going back to stock )

So you saying only if it dosen't boot i should wipe everything by choosing factory reset, but if i was "lucky" and the phone boot i stay with all my apps and settings?
By the way, what cache and dalvik cache exactly are?

Yeah, wipe all ONLY if it does not boot.

Cache is the place for apps to store all their temporary data files, dalvik is explained here: Linky!

This is worked perfectly, thank you .
I know there's a lot of info on this subject, but im still confused about a few things related to simply updating to a new version of same rom.
some says i have to wipe all, clear cache and dalvik cache every time, others talk about dirty updating which i guess is without wipe, but do i still need to clear cache and dalvik, or just dalvik cache?, and do i have to flash gapps every time i just upgrade same rom?
like going from 2.50 > the latest 2.52, what i did was:
1. downloaded both pa_grouper-2.52-27OCT2012-190304.zip, and gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip and put them in root of my nexus 7
2. went to goomanager and clicked "flash ROMs", where i selected my grouper-2.52-27OCT2012-190304.zip, clicked "Order and flash selected" and on next screen checkmarked "Wipe cache/dalvik cache partition"
3. clicked flash, and waited..
4. did same procedure (step 2 and 3) with the gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip and now im not sure if that all i needed to do, or if there's something i don't have to do next time there a minor update.. or can i skip wipe cache?, or skip flashing gapps (unless there's a newer version of gapps)?
thanks for any answers

but i still wonder if it's needed to wipe cache/dalvik because it seems to remove some login info fx. in gmail, wallpaper and such, and if it's not needed, then i might as well not do that

If you dont wipe them, it can cause troubles.
Also, it shouldnt affect anything, doesnt for me
Edit: Gapps must be flashed everytime for PA. Forgot to mention that

Found this thread by searching.
I have a question. When you upgrade the ROM, and do all the steps listed above, does this also save the installed apps on the device?

Yes. Flashing the rom, then gapps, wiping cache and dalvik doesnt wipe any apps or apps data

I got two Failed to unmount '/data' (Device or resource busy) errors when wiping, when flashing LOS it said detected ext4. Nothing else failed that i could see, let's see what happens.
Edit: nope, still goes to twrp.
Edit2: I think I have found the issue. It says it is f2fs.
I keep getting device or resource busy.
I have figured it out.
I just got my Nexus 6p running on resurrection remix 8.1.0 (7.2.0 gcc) and flashed the 8.1 gapps onto it. Everything ran smoothly and i can see all the apps, but whenever i try completing the setup or launching a google app, i get "Google play services keeps stopping" just over and over again. Anyone know of a fix?
Did you wipe system, data, cache before flashing? Have any substratum themes installed?

Thanks so much! I just went through and re installed everything making sure to wipe dalvik and cache and it seems to have worked!
I was on RR rom. I tried to install Dolby Atmos via twrp. After that phone stuck at bootanimation of RR. Can't find cache partition after that(see attachment). Then again I installed magisk and when I tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache, error occurs, can't find partition path cache(see attachment again). Will try to flash fastboot rom in 3 days. Can anyone solve this issue via twrp only? Thanks in advance.

I tried Dolby on RR rom too. I was unsuccessful but on the bright side it works on stock rom!!!
If you want Dolby to go back to stock and root and flash Dolby.
By the way its ****ING AMAZING!

You will get always the error from cache partition, as this phone don't have a cache partition, so it's normal that you get this error when you wipe cache & dalvik option after flashing something

Thanks for the info. I just clean flashed the rom and everything is working fine now. I came to know that this rom has A/B partition which was causing a problem. Now I got it. Thanks again!
On RR you have to flash Dolby two times and it will be working.
Ok so I had to wipe everything and installed the rom again, then the phone booted up. Any thoughts what made the phone to bootloop? I didn't mess around with anything. Just tried to install dolby.
