Hey guys, I'm planning on buying either an LG G3 or a G4 and installing custom roms. to keep them as up-to-date as possible. I would like to know which one of these phones have more active development. I saw a couple of oreo roms for the G3 and maybe just one for G4. I understand and respect the fact android developments take time and are massive efforts by developers in their free time but I would just like to know which of these devices have more active development.
Thank You
I had G3 and I can reccomend it. Lots of custom roms, very easy to flash

I would avoid the g4, due to the hardware issues. G3 is great, only thing I'm not super happy with is the GPS performance, it works but the built-in antennas are not that great. I would consider the g3 or the $300 g6.

yeah i just read about the whole bootloop issue related to the hardware of the g4. I guess i'll get the g3 instead. I'm getting the G3 for about 80$ which is nothing compared to 300$ haha. Thank you so much
Go for 3/32 version
I had the d852. Switched up to s7. Long story short had to snag another phone. Found a slightly used g3 for 100. Jumped on it. Throw a 6000ma battery in it and love it. The community behind the g3 is amazing

To be fair my G3's GPS is great but my wife's is poor at best. While her SIM signal is slightly stronger than mine.

Hey guys! I'm asking you about this 2 phones. Which one will be better to gaming and daily use? I often play games like Real Racing 3 or Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour. Sometimes I use Google Chrome and really often I take photos. I know that Optimus G2 has got good battery life but I don't know how about HTC One. I'm not going to unlock/flash ROMs on G2. Only if I choose HTC One I'll unlock it and flash ViperOne ROM(I've got ViperC2 5.1 on my One S C2).
Hmm
My friend own LG g2 and he not complain, is very customizable on stock Rom and camera quality is really nice ,better than m7(is not so quick like m7) about games hmm each one I play works beautiful ( no lags , nothink) battery on stock kernel is pretty good all day with heavy usage, but for me m7 looks much much better than lg and it's HTC !!!!

Thanks I know you.... You're from One S C2 too. I asked my friend who has HTC One. He said that HTC One is a coll phone but it has some problems. While he's playin' Real Racing 3 he's fancing some issues while choosing cars. So I'm going for LG G2. I saw recovery flash method which is easier than I thought
PS. I'm from Poland too
Get the G2 if you want better battery life, a faster cpu and a higher resolution camera. The rest goes to the One

Nowadays all phones are very similar, so I looked for good speakers and audio output. Brand is just logo on the back, pick one thing that you would like the most, and then chose the phone.
have seen LG G2 camera photos, looks amazing, very detailed battery life should be better, some users report 5-7 screen on time:good: screen size ratio is phenomenal too! best ever seen in such a small casing :cyclops: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size#/phones/size/LG-G2,HTC-One/phones/7969,7678
on the other hand, m7 may be better in terms of how you feel owning device. Beauty of sense clean looks and design of aluminum body just shine in the end of your day :good:
Just wait for LG G3..
Minto107 I know that ur from Poland I remember U?

If you are going to buy the 3gb ram version lg g3, then yes
Otherwise NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
The g3 is nice but I'm happy just using cloudy g3... The main difference is the extra gb of ram and the camera is better.. It does have a better screen but honestly my g2's screen is amazing as it is
Thanks for the replies both!! If anyone else has something to propose I'm all ears
Just check the reviews, what does g3 have better than g2? More ram, slightly better cpu(like if you can notice, lol), bigger creen(depends if better or worse), higher resolution..and maybe more. Both devices are good, actually not good they are amazing but it all depends on what you want to call one of them better than the other. Go to a store which displays them if you can, that way you can decide easier.
PS: I'm a recent g2 owner and i think g2 is the best device you can get for the buck you pay :good:
To be honest, I would wait until Q1 2015 when most newer phones are out and when reviews are up.
Camera
Have any of you updated your G2 to the G3 rom? does it make the camera faster, cause that really sucks!:-/
I love this phone, and the features, but getting tired of the shutter time, and all the blurry pictures:-/
thanks!, Max

I have no issue with shutter time or blurry pics unless i use magic focus
I find the size of the g2 is perfect ,the g3 is a bit to big...
I get blurry pictures as well ,besides the camera i love this phone
The G3 stock rom is cool. I like the additional features that you can get, but there is a CloudyG3 rom available.
My G2 has built in wireless Charging (verizon) where the G3 does not. Looks like they opted to go the Samsung route (AT&T removed the Qi circuit all together) and go with the Qi Compatible replacement backplates that are $40 extra.
I really can't see a reason to upgrade to anything else.
The G2 pushes my size limitations. If I was to go to a G3, I would opt for just a Note 4 coming out in October with the 64-bit SnapDragon 805 processor and QuadHD screen.
But personally, with Android L just right around the corner, I wouldn't buy anything without first checking out what is available. With Google releasing the dev edition of Android L, I would imagine manufactures would be updating pretty frequently.
G3 is not worth buying. The answer is simple, you have amaizing smartphone, with great specs ans you won't notice any change in performance. G3 in comparison to G2 has the same performance, because of this 2K screen. There isn't noticeable difference, between screen from G2 and G3, all on G2 is really sharp.

Agreed, G2 > G3
Eu queria um lg g3 :C
The only phone on the market that I would upgrade to is the Samsung Note 4, there's nothing about G3 to make me feel tempted. Most likely I would wait until April - May for the next year flagships.

I am going to buy a new android cellphone tomorrow and after too much research LG G2 is the phone that fits my budget to its worth with specifications. So my question is after approx 1 year is it Still a value for money? Are there any issues i should be worried about?
My alternate to this is Xperia Z1. Thanks in advance.

Yes it is still very worth it. I'd go for whatever is cheaper, cant go wrong with either.

It's still got a Good Processing power and [email protected] Video-Recording.
Yes, it's worth it.
Even the Galaxy S2 is not outdated yet in my opinion!
You have used xperia Z2 and Lg G2 both before so i think you can help me out here. If i ask you to choose one out of two for free, i.e. LG G2 or Xperia Z1 what would you pick?
It's a very good buy for the money. Buttons on the back were something I was worried of, but now I cannot imagine my life without them
Snapdragon 800 still can manage anything you throw at it and the camera, the display (slim bezels and such colors, I love it!) and the battery are just outstanding.
As for comparison between Xperia Z1 ang G2 I would choose the G2 thousand times, Z1's got a little faster camera but I would stand that s****y display and the big clumsy body. The xperia Z line are the most impractical phones I've ever had in my hand (I also tried the Z2).
Go for it.. Its cheap now and still great.
I Had one, sold it and got the Xperia Z3. Got tired waiting for Root exploit, bought another G2 again with erased IMEI, restored IMEI.. Love it again,. Best phone i ever had. HAIL the G2.

Me personally, id go with the xperia. Such a premium feeling device with waterproofing (which is good since 1 device ive had died due to water..) and the stock rom is by far one of the best IMO, if not the best. The camera quality was relatively equal but the z2 seemed to film better (or at least at a higher consistent framerate while the g2 even with 60fps selected can drop frames). Only issue is that there is a lack of development for the z2. Sure there are some roms and kernels, but there arent as many roms and kernels there when compared to the g2 (this is z2 development, z1 may be different). The speaker of the z2 was much better as well (however, the z1 is probably worse than the z2 and equal to the g2).
In the end, id still choose the xperia... Such a shame mine cracked so easily as they're generally really tough devices.
The battery life of the z2 was also noticably better in my own experience, however, thats probably due to the stamina mode included.
My only issue is that this is my experience with the Z2, not Z1. They are similar devices but not identical and a lot of the pluses of the z2 i listed might not be in the z1. (Like speaker or battery life)
If the leaked screenshots are accurate, both devices seem to be very similar regarding specs.
I think the are only two major differences: the screen (IPS LCD vs Super AMOLED) and the battery (3080 vs 3510). The battery is not a big deal for me, and the screen... I don't know. Right now I have IPS LCD and I'm happy (though with higher PPI).
On the other hand, I guess the Moto G5 Plus life span will be longer, as usually the G series have a very broad community behind. Moto Z Play doesn't seem to be so popular, just for the battery duration.
So what do you think? Is it worth it to wait for the G5 Plus, which according to rumors will be released in less than a month? I'm expecting the price to be slightly lower than the Z Play, guess around 350€

because the G5 Plus is the evolution of the G4 Plus. It's more expected that someone from the same series (G) move to the newer model instead than someone moving from the flagship series (Z).
to all the others complaining about Motorola, why are you in this section? Go away if you don't like it
wait for the G5
I'd wait for the G5. I'm very happy with my G4 plus, my next phone will definitely be in this series. Unless Motorola implodes....
I bought G4 plus a week ago. It's a great phone. But I think You should go for Nokia series though. I bet the nokia like always will provide more durability than the Chinese. I used 6 Nokia phones before G4 plus, all of them were bomb. Still If you want a better display with slightly better battery life, you should wait.

You know that now Nokia is only a name? There will never be Nokia quality like in good old times! It's a smartphone and at the top are letters telling you "Nokia".
It'll be interesting to see how the Nokia 6 (and the rumoured Nokia 8) fare, see if HMD Global/Nokia are back to their former glory. Also remains to be seen if the Moto G5 actually matches up to the rumoured specs too!

Yeah but the people who worked on the phone are all Nokia veterans. They used to work for Old Nokia. And with the first sell they had in China I think Nokia has the potential to gain back the reputation they lost due to Microsoft. I am not saying you are wrong, This is just my opinion as I used to be A Nokia fanboy.

I am a Z Play user so I would recommend it to you, because it has frontal flash, Moto mods, bigger battery and USB Type C. Regarding to custom ROMs, it's not so popular because it was released 3 months ago, but it has lineage OS (camera is in process to be fixed) and surely other ROMs will come out. Every device takes some time to become popular and have custom ROMs, so if you like custom ROMs and are going to wait for G5, you will have to deal with it. Greetings

In my past experience something that requires porting libraries is only supported in stock based Roms and not ones based in AOSP or CAF. ( Kind of like Moto Display)
I hope it does though.
I am currently using a Moto Z Play. Apart from the camera and size I love almost everything about it (especially the battery life). Quite recently the G6 has caught my attention since its price has dropped by a lot and I started considering it since I might not lose much if I were to sell off my Z Play and buy it.
I have a few doubts that need clearing from regular G6 users. I know the G6 will turn almost a year old since launch, so is it still a good option to consider as daily driver for the next 2 years at least. For its current price in India its offering bang for buck in terms of the features it packs. I'm in love with what the wide angle cam can do, the 18:9 aspect ratio in 1440p , IP67 rating and wireless charging. How is the custom ROM support for this phone (if i do eventually go for it i'll need the ROM community to help extend its life), secondly has anyone experienced lesser battery numbers after long term use.
Looking forward to everyone's advice.
I can only say, I like it and comes from a moto z (not play)
Battery is beter than on my moto z with battery mod
I like the skin from lg more than the more stock looking skin from moto z
Custom rom support, I not Really know
Display from the LG looks much beter than the moto display.
