No data access over mobile network

I've tried different ROM and baseband combination, but I'm not able to have my phone work with data over the network. Everything's fine! I have provider's signal at a good level, and I can connect through wi-fi. I configure the APN for my region and provider, but the result is the same: signal quality bars are there, but I don't have the usual letters next to them, indicating the type of connection available (3G, HSDPA, EDGE, etc.) What' can I do? I'm now running this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335287 with it's baseband, but I'm not able to make it work with data. HELP!!!
go to data usage and select from where you connect to 3G, this is what i did once and it`s wirked, i was needed to choose from vodafone , orange and cosmote, from where i get the 3g signal

That's what I have done! I even got the APN for my network provider. I set it manually. It doesn't work. Man, I'm really desperate. I'm paying for a service I'm not using, and worse of all, I tried to install a stock version and cellphone fails the installation. HELP!

Manual network selection

Hello everybody, I can't find a solution. I live in border area and sometimes foreign operators are stronger and my nexus connects in roaming, I've turned off data in roaming, but calls still sometimes goes true other carrier. Did somebody have any idea how to turn off automatic network selection, all my previous devices used to have this function. Turning off roaming from carrier is not a solution. Thank you.

Just go into settings, mobile networks, Network Operators and select an operator manually.
Whenever that operator is unavailable you will loose signals and for other operators, you have to select them manually.

carrier = the network operator you are signed to - the company you pay your phone bill to
you wont get 2g if
you have not enabled 2g in phone settings/your phone is not set for 2g in apn settings (you can force only 2g network connection if you dont have 3g)
your carrier doesnt support 2g (my carrier only supports 3g and 4g)
you have no signal
you dont have imei (dial *#06# and it will show your imei - if it is blank you have lost imei and need to change rom/kernel/flash ril fix)
you dont have a 2g data plan

only your provider and you will know what services you get
2g is near enough obsolute where I am when it comes to internet - only calls still remain on some networks on 2g - you will have to contact your carrier provider

S4 won't connect to 3G/4G network

Hi Guys..
I unlocked sim card on my SPH-L720 but it won't connect to any network except to 2G network. I live in Venezuela and It's supposed to get 3G signal with my carrier.. but only network I can use is 2G..
Is there any chance to force 3G connection trought service mode??
Did you set/add your APN manually? That usually has fixed the problem for me.
