LgCamera As Default Camera [For MiniCM Too] * Solved *

I have found the best camera app for X8!
I use the latest MiniCM rom, and the stock camera app is not ok.
You are not able to shoot more pictures in row, because the black screen bug.
I used Vignette before, but lgCamera is a lightweight and fastest alternative.

Video settings for pretty good quality and card space saving: Video resolution: 480 x 320. Video encoder: H.263. Video file format: 3GPP. Video bitrate: 2 Mbit. Video framerate: 25.

And: yes, there is "default camera app" option inside of lgcamera app but it hasn't worked for me.

why do you said that about the video config? tell me why you dont use 640x480 as the resolution to record and why you use 25 fps when you can use 30, i am not atacking you, is just that you maybe know something about the camera that i dont , sorry about my english

To tell the truth, the most important things are the audio settings. Because the default sound quality is creapy. Video settings are up to you. I use 480 x 320 because of the card space. That is the optimal setting for me. And it has fairy good quality.

dunno. after capturing the image, there a loading circle appear, and never stops until i "end task" via ATK

there is an easier way you know..theres an option on the lgcamera setting to run on camera button pressed..just tick it and it will run when you pressed the camera button..

I noticed this issue first on saturday.
I restarted the cam app and it has worked.
This bug doesn't come up since then.
Anyway, to solve any kind of recording bugs try to place this file:

On a default 2.1 SE firmware:
Camera button is working for me by default if I want to open this app instead of the generic camera software. No freezes, fast as hell (now I can make 1-2 photos in less than a second ). Video recording works flawlessly, except when I tried to force the soft to make videos over the maximum resolution (640x480< ), because the phone has restarted itself, but it's ok, X8 can't make bigger resolutioned films as 640x480. By the way, the quality is really awesome, it's like an SD Handycam, not to mention that the sound is really-really good too (almost studio-quality)!

Did anyone managed to get a better audio sync in the x8 running cm6 (Froyo) ROMs?? So far I get aprox 1 sec lag in audio when recording video.

Where is the HDR Video feature in the new Software Update?

I have installed the Latest XXUBMEA firmware via ODIN. The bugs are gone such as Purple Smearing issues and others. UI is now much smoother. But where is the HDR Video recording option? Tried turning on Rich Tone(HDR) and record video but it doesn't record HDR video. There is no option to turn it on either. Is the HDR Video Recording Capability is a rumor? Or is it true?

The HDR feature is in the camera settings, switch from the default snapshot mode
to the video mode then you can see the HDR option in one of the video setting.

There is no way to Switch from Snapshot mode to Video mode. Camera button captures the photo, Video button Records video. what are you talking about?

Change mode to HDR/RICH TONE then press the recording button.
In previous version the recording button got faded when switched to HDR/RICH TONE mode.

I'm pretty sure that change in the changelog was wrong.

my friend has the old XXMDK build, and you can still record while choosing rich tone mode, i dont think HDR mode is there on the MEA build unless it really is on when u press record, but i cant see the difference.

There is no HDR video feature.

Guys guys! There is no HDR feature. The mode is there but it doesn't work. It is however believed that Samsung needed more time to work in HDR mode so they decided to drop it and will present it in the upcoming updates (just a speculation). Hope this helps.

LG Spirit H440N - Enable Panorama and HDR in Camera

Go to /system/etc and find a file called "camera_config.xml". Make a backup of it, in case something goes wrong.
+++ PANORAMA enable
Open the file, and find the line in the beginning that says:
<item name="mode_rear_supported">
mode_normal
</item>
Edit that section to this:
<item name="mode_rear_supported">
mode_normal,
mode_panorama
</item>
Save it and that's it. Now you have a MODE button in your Camera app that has an Auto and a Panorama option. Enjoy.

Guys, report back if the photos are really better than before. I don't have much time to test around or compare them in photo editing apps or whatnot...
Why is the viewfinder black, you ask? Because my finger is over it, that's why.

Tried it, didn't work, noticed that at mode_panorama an underscore is used, fixed it, works. The capturing is a bitslow imo

Need more options. Manualy adjust ISO.

It might be just me, but I'm not seeing much of a difference with HDR enabled.

It was worth a shot...
Values in camera_config.xml:
1 enables it
2 enables it ( did not notice it changes anything )
3 makes Auto HDR available in the Camera options
I got somewhat better quality images, and larger in size with crisper details, by adding:
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
... in build.prop

Yes, me too... But yeah, it was worth a shot.

Just to know - HDR is not working on H440N... No flash is enabled in HDR mode (which is important actually for HDR mode). Panorama works fine.

Tried it.. Works well. Any more tweaks coming to our camera app?

I've been playing with the camera for a couple of days. Even tried to enable super zoom, but that just caused the camera to go bonkers. I guess the panorama is the only thing we are able to get... but, I will keep snooping

Panorama does not work. With that camera app gives FC. But HDR works.

You're the FIRST person to report panorama DOES NOT work, but HDR DOES work.

I would recommend installing Open Camera from the Play Store, since that app is much more advanced than default Camera app. Been using it for a few days now, and I decided to make it my default cam app.

I also used OCamera for a few weeks, it was just a bit inconvenient to use for me.

HOWTO Enable RAW and video stabilization

The camera in the Moto G5 is capable of some relativity advanced features. To get to them the Camera2 API needs to be enabled. The Camera2 API replaces the deprecated Camera class since Android 5.
For instance in Open Camera you can shoot RAW photos or use image stabilization in videos if you enable Camera2. My RAW images are about 30MB so make sure you have space. You can also use apps that will tap into real slow motion. Both cameras will do at least 120 fps.

Here are a few tests I ran on the Moto G5. Looks like there is very good Camera2 API support in both the front and back camera. Zero lag shooting, slow motion, RAW and a ton of settings and features are supported.
Here are a few more camera apps that use the Camera2 api. It should be supported since Lollipop.

Open Camera: enable Settings/"Use Camera2 API".
A Better Camera: enable Settings/General settings/More/"Use Camera2 interface".
Snap Camera HDR (Trial): enable Settings/Other/"Use Camera2 API".
Camera FV-5: this uses Camera2 by default.
AZ Camera: this uses Camera2 by default.
Footej: this uses Camera2 by default.
Lightroom (which has a built-in camera using Camera2)

To enable just put this in your build.prop

Then reboot your phone.
If using Open Camera go into settings and enable Camera2. Restart the app. You will not have the ability to shoot RAW and stabilize your video.

To change the build.prop you need a rooted phone
To root phone you need an unlocked bootloader

I don't know what's wrong but I can't open any raw files I do. I have the stock rom rooted.

I can't open using Photoshop or Lightroom. Google Photos do not synchronize this raw files I don't know it's normal or not. And with the Android Lightroom APK I can't do raw photos because it crash. I supone I have something wrong in the phone...

He is talking about an older version of ES File Explorer, in the up to date version its a bit different to navigate to the right folder.
So essentially, you have to install the app, in the main menu tap the upper left corner for the navigation bar, scroll to "Root Explorer" and enable it. Then scroll up and tap "Local", in the dropdown menu tap "Device". From there its the same procedure as in the DroidModder's tutorial. Open the "system" folder, search for "build.prop", open it and choose the ES Editor to put this "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1" at the end of the file. I did a backup of the original file, just in case.

Did you fix or find the problem? I got Oreo (Stock + Root) and still can't open this files. I made this post but still no replies :crying:

I'd say open camera is the best out of your api2 list, even video recording works on it when running oreo which on many other cameras it does not.

It happens in Stock 8.1 too. I hope someone shows up with the answer

It crashes in Pixel experience oreo 8.1 too. Tried dozens of modded cameras but none of them worked. They were unable to be decoded for Mobile Lightroom and Photoshop.
I have the Motorola Moto G5 Plus XT1685 version

So it crashes in custom ROMs too...

Try this to fix DNG files.
About the crashes, there's no answer yet but a "workaround". Take the picture, see it (from the camera application itself) and go back to camera interface.

Doesn't work for me. Whenever I enable HDR+ images will fail to process. The shutter button becomes unresponsive and images do not save.

I think only S Camera takes such sharp images, GCam does not

No one has managed to get it to work on s9 so i guess we will have to wait a little bit

The Samsung cam's pictures are over-sharpened. Looks bad at 1:1.
Gcam is much better in that regard.

the quality of Gcam is terrible, unless if you're taking a bright scene under the sun, the pictures taken by Gcam just couldn't compare to the sharpness and quality of samsung stock camera. I've just uninstalled it prior of replying this.
