Hey Guys,
Not a total noob here, but its been awhile since i had a nexus and im clearly missing a step when, but i cant figure out what.
Got the nexus 6p, unlocked bootloader, and set the phone up (fingerprint, accounts, etc)
Decided i wanted to install twrp, so booted into bootloader and ran command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
rebooted phone, and tried to go into recovery, its asking for pattern to decrypt phone. i enter pattern, and its unable to decrpyt.
i try booting back to OS, changing from pattern to pin, and still have the same issue. now twrp asks for a pin, but its still unable to decrypt.
so i try to start over, flash factory images (MHC19I), and try again. same issue. im sure im missing something simple, your help would be much appreciated.
just read up that its the march security update thats causing this issue with twrp for those folks that are having the same issue.
TWRP just needs an update

Failed to decrypt data.
Testing of v7:
TWRP brings up the decrypt screen on booting, asking for a password to be entered.
Unfortunately I get a "Password Failed, please try again!" on entering my password (4 digit PIN)
"Failed to decrypt data " error when attempting via command line.
This appears to be closer than the previous boots, it recognizes the encrypted partition. I will try again with a password rather than pin
Still having the bootloops when booting into TWRP forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-c/help/twrp-bootloops-t3389438
Thanks for testing .. Seen somewhere you may need to enter password twice.. Just as test, try stock kernel for bootloop issue. Thanks

twrp now asks for decryption password. But always returns "passwoord failed"
I tried it three ways with the same result "Failed to decrypt data":
At start of twrp
via mount and decrypt
Last version I think there was no decrypt button and there was a check box for data partition. This could not be checked.
Now there is the decrypt button but the data partion is missing. Klciking the button the result is as mentioned above.

New version compiled today .. v8 ...
Code:
could not find any keystore module
Failed to init keymaster
Please mount /system partition before your start to decrypt via terminal ..
Is the recovery.log changing -> ... "could not open keymaster device in keystore .. "
Ot still "could not find kestore module" ?
Thanks for testing ..
NYChitman made also a new Version for encryption... pls test as well. .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67138209
v10 is my last try on encryption .. makes a copy of the current dragon.keystore while starting up recovery.
This version has also a new kernel included and logcat for TWRP was compiled too.
And no bootloops while testing
Cheers
Still the usual loops on my device but only when I start from recovery. Strange thing. And it does not happen when stock recovery is installed. The funniest thing: If stock recovery is installed I can't open it if I want to. It's the red triangle droid. And if TWRP is flashed it opens if I don't want to Tried to flash the whole tablet back to start from scratch. At the moment impossible. Wiped, flashed, wiped and so on. I get the message (factory image): unable to truncate file... File too large failed to extract system.img I/o error. Installing from TWRP works fine. Tried to close and open bootloader: Not possible without stock recovery. Aaargh. I found out: There were some guys having this issue on Nexus devices who re-installed all drivers and software on their PC to solve the problem or used a different PC. That's my next step next Friday. I'm going to get everything on this stupid son of a... on this tablet working, I swear. Now, dear Pixel C, it's something personal Don't mess with an angry social worker!

Did you found a solution ?
to "close/open" bootloader you need "full" stock !
Afterwards you can flash TWRP via fastboot again.
Maybe it solves your issue.

I tried your last build without encryption and it seems that in this build adbd doesn't accept the connexion anymore

I wanted to flash a ROM, so I wiped system etc, then flashed a TWRP img and after I reboot to TWRP it asks me to enter a encrpytion password , but I haven't set any!!! please help
The password is your PIN/password on Android.
If you have a pattern, you can switch to a PIN or password to decrypt the storage on TWRP, or you can type the password in this order:
-1 2 3-
-4 5 6-
-7 8 9-
For example, if my pattern is a "L", I would type on TWRP: 14789

I tried this without success but thanks for the help.
I fixed it by flashing fulmics ROM. I got some errors while flashing but it booted and my files are still there
Hi, i have the same problem, i've just unlocked bootloader, (forgot to remove screen lock pin+imprint), installed TWRP. and keeps ask about password. The partition is encrypted in recovery.
I've tried to erase userdata from fastboot, wipe data and format data from twrp.
Any help how can i get rid of the encryption?
Should i lock and unlock the bootloader again?
After i've unlocked the bootloader i didn't boot normally in android and wanted to install twrp.
i come from Nexus devices and it's way more easier there!
erasing partition from fastboot make it have no filesystem or whatsoever and twrp sees that as encrypted filesystem . just press cancel or skip button at twrp encryption screen and it should show up twrp main menu. from there format data partition with ext4 and reboot. at least that's how I solved the problem. I highly recommend doing backup of your data first like photos , music etc. before messing with anything
Hi, I already had my phone rooted and with TWRP installed, but I needed to restore my phone. First I did this trough the system, but I noted that a lot of old files still were there, and I went to TWRP and did a wipe, but selected /system and /cache, now I don't have a OS on my phone.
The phone doesn't turn off, everytime I try to power off, he turn on again, and stay on Lenovo logo. The only thing I can acess is Fastboot mode (via Power down + power), I cant acess TWRP trough the phone, but I found a .bat file, that when I'm in fastboot mode, it flashes twrp on my phone and I can acess it . The other problem is that I always get an error when trying to flash any rom. Things like Error:255 or ".zip file not valid". Tried 2 roms and nothing.
Can someone please help me? I would prefer a stock rom for Brazil, but now I just want any rom, dont even mind if it's not stock.

Error 255 is caused because you are trying to install a 64bit ROM over TWRP (32bits), you need to upgrade TWRP to 64bit, just so you will be able to install a ROM. Remember that you should use Gapps in 64bit [ARM64]
TWRP: https://dl.twrp.me/karate/twrp-3.1.1-1-karate.img
Gapps: http://opengapps.org/ (ARM64)

I already had this version of twrp, but downloaded anyway and got the same error when tring to sideload a ROM "Updater process ended with ERROR: 255" . I don't know what to do anymore, I tried with 4 different ROMs, also I searched for a method to erase the lines with asserts on "update-scripts" in META-INF, but then I got a "Invalid ZIP file" error.

Try to go back to the 32bits version and erase everything and format the data and return to the 64bit version because here I had this problem it was because of the TWRP that I was using, it was the 32bits version, after that I upgraded to the 64bits version I did not have this problem. Remembering that in the site https://dl.twrp.me/karate/ has two versions of TWRP, the version twrp-3.1.1-0-karate.img is 32bits and the version twrp-3.1.1-1-karate. img is 64bit.

MAN, the ERROR: 7 now could be solved by deleting the lines with ASSERT in "\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script".
So, thanks for helping me, the problem with 64/32bits worked. I'm really glad that this worked, had stuck for 3 days without OS, now i'm never messing with this stuff again haha.

Dont forget to reboot again into twrp - after flashing 64bit twrp . This is a step that is very important if you will not reboot your phone into twrp after flashing 64 bit twrp then , it will keep showin you the error 255.
So check that .

Tere 3.1.1-1 asking for password to encrypt data
I flashed my Lenovo k6 power with twrp 3.1.1-1 after I was not able to flash crdroid, lineage is,pixelized stock ROM to my phone. Now the twrp is asking for password to encrypt data and I am surprised because I hadn't set a password. I tried to unlock it with my phone password but I it is saying to enter correct password.

Use erase the data from wipe option then you will be able to install rom and g-apps.
Every time you will need password, I don't know why but after erasing data you install all files otherwise you need to erase data again and again

I Faced same problem. It's ok that your phone is in weird state for time now. And also possible to recover.
Hopefully you have adb-tool, custom-rom & gapp, twrp.img on your PC.
1) Boot your mobile in fastmode using Power ON with Volume down key for 5 sec (Lenovo log with left hand side sayinh fastboot mode)
2) Connect the mobile to PC using USB & Go to adb tool folder. Open command prompt in this folder & Execute the follow step by step execution
fastboot oem reboot-recovery
3)Wait for mobile to boot in to recovery mode with TWRP
Now need to flash custom-rom followed by gapps installion.
I) You can use pendrive with otg to flash custom-rom followed by gapps
OR
II)You can use phone storage/SD card to flash the custom-rom followed by gapps
OR
III)adb sideload command as fallow
a)In TWRP recovery on mobile, goto Adavanced->ADB Sideload & Swipe to start the sideload
Now on PC execute . Specify custom rom path inside ""
adb sideload "C:\adb\images\MyCustomROM.zip"
Have a patience to complete the operation.
Click back for Adavanced Menu again.
b) Select ADB Sideload & Swipe to start the sideload
Now on PC execute . Specify Gapp path inside ""
adb sideload "C:\adb\images\open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20180611.zip"
c)Have a patience to complete the operation.
Once complete go to TWRP Screen.
d)Now go back TWRP main menu & select wipe->format Data.
Go to Reboot->system.
How to install TWRP if no OS there
1) Boot your mobile in fastmode using Power ON with Volume down key for 5 sec (Lenovo log with left hand side sayinh fastboot mode)
2) Connect the mobile to PC using USB & Go to adb tool folder. Open command prompt in this folder & Execute the follow step by step execution
a) To check the device is connected to PC or not
fastboot oem device-info
b) To flash the recovery. Give twrp path inside the ""
fastboot flash recovery "C:\adb\images\twrp.img"
c) To boot into recovery mode
fastboot oem reboot-recovery

Hello guys, I have a Moto G6 Plus 4GB+64GB Brazil, and I'm trying to install the TWRP on it, I managed to unlock the Bootloader normally, but I've tried all the ways to install the TWRP and I can't, I've updated the Motorola Drives, the programs, and always do the commands in the CMD, displays the message: Invalid partition name recovery.
After that I can only connect it again by restoring the ROM with android 9.0.
I am trying to install to root it. I've tried to do the root installation without TWRP but without success too.
Does anyone know how to fix this error? Thanks

With this phone you need to first boot twrp via command: "fastboot boot twrp.img" , and then use a zip file to fully install TWRP. you can find this zip here on the forums.
