My phone has been experiencing rogue data sim switching. I tried different roms and its happening again and again. Any solutions?
I tried cleaning dalvik and cache. It didn't help.
Have you done a fresh flash on any of the ROMs? If not, try that first.

Just also help me to understand about wipe.. once you are on wipe menu you get 4 to 5 option. How do I do complete wipe. Should the first option to be selected only or all options to be selected one by one. By now I have been selecting only the first option. Is it safe to wipe the SD card with this.
Wipe factory/data settings. Wipe dalvik-cache. You've now completely wiped your handset.
what exactly is in the dalvik-cache? are there times you wouldn't want to wipe the dalvik?

my understanding is that it is used by the java virtual machine for temp data by running programs... not sure if this is correct.
in any event, there doesn't seem to be a reason not to wipe it - and i've seen many posts about a performance gain if you phone starts to get laggy by clearing it.

My wife and I both have MyTouch 4Gs and both of our phones exhibit this problem. Whenever I load a Sense based ROM both phones reboot without warning. The last time I had a Sense based ROM on her phone it would continuously reboot when plugged in to the charger. I loaded a Sense based ROM on my phone last night to try out and it would reboot every few minutes. I've probably tried six or seven different Sense based ROMs and the rebooting issue always happens. Both of our phones are currently running a CM7 based ROM and working fine. Anyone else see the same issue?

Did you verify the MD5SUM post pushing the ROM to the SD Card.

+1 this
And/or are you flashing anithing else right after flashing the rom? If you are, don't. Just flash the from and reboot. Also, make sure you're found a full complete wipe. Wiping data, cache and dalvik before flashing.

That problem can also be caused by the phone being overclocked a little too much. Try changing speed and voltage to match stock.

No, not flashing anything else. Yes, I wiped data, cache, and dalvik before flashing.

I'm not sure what those ROMs were overclocked too, but I'm running CM7 at about 1209MHz right now and have no issues.

You need to do a complete factory restore via the recovery image. the /system is the most important part to make sure is wiped. And from that statement you're not doing that.

Is a complete factory restore simply finding and flashing a stock image?

No. Neidlinger is referring to a full wipe of /system /data and both caches prior to flashing a new rom.

@EQJUNKIE829 hit the nail on the head. Just flashing a new OS isn't wiping the old one. You need to do a nandroid backup of your current OS, then do a complete factory reset. It WILL NOT wipe the recovery image or the hBoot. Then flash the new OS.
No matter how many threads I say to wipe the bloody system partition in, there is always this problem. Its frustrating.
Help my phone acts weird.
Did you do a full wipe?
Yes
Are you sure? You wiped the system partition?
Umm, I dunno. I think so.
:faceplam: Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache and reflash.
That fixed it. Thanks!
Sure thing! :hangs self:

I currently have Oxygen installed and it crashes around every few hours, plus drains battery like hell. I was told by people that proper Oxygen is nothing like that..
They told me to flash the thing again, but.. can I flash the ROM again to make it more stable without wiping the data? It's the same ROM, so that should not cause more problems yes?
Thanks.
Yes you can, but it may not do any good. Try to wipe cache and dalvik cahce, no data loss there...
Thanks. Will do right now.

Hey, how did it go? Unfortunately it is too late for me, cause I already wiped+flashed, but I wonder if you can do it without wiping.
Yes you can. I did it a few times with various ROMs.. Oxygen and Aurora ICS... works fine.. but in my case it did not fix the crashing Oxygen issue... I had to change to ICS.
Hello people, I have a small problem while flashing 4.4 roms.
Every time, after wiping to factory , installing rom and Gapps, Phone app makes a force close every time, on every Rom. I don't know what can I do to remedy this problem, and so far, only dirty flashing works to a degree (pace rom make a force close on the time /alarm app).
Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks for the answers.
Are you using twrp?

Make sure you wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache in twrp and see if that fixes it.

I had problems with TWRP too. I flashed back to stock and started over. Never had problems after that.
Thanks, it worked !

I would suggest taking a backup and then do a factory reset and not restore anything. If that doesn't help just restore your backup. If it does work you could try to just install some apps at a time to try to figure out what made the problem.

I'm not sure. Did you make a clean install on all those Rom's? In case you don't know what that means, did you wipe data and cache between flashing them? If you did you could try flashing a factory image to see if that helps. If that doesn't help then as far as I know it is a hardware problem. This is a guide for flashing a factory image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.
