I am having an issue with the G5 plus camera. When I zoom in with my G5 Plus and my father's redmi 4, my father's redmi 4 tends to take sharper images. For example the photo below, the photo in which you can read the text is taken from the redmi 4 while the photo in which you cannot read the text is taken from G5 Plus. Both images were taken in auto mode with HDR off and even from the same distance.
I think my G5 Plus is not able to focus distant objects!
So my question is does all G5 plus have struggle focusing distant object or is it my G5 plus only?

Warning -Low Light pictures.
That's not the best these phones can do.
Don't compare it to random pictures you made yourself.
Hello,
The pictures are big, so can't share it all here. Look at the album for details.
This picture compares 5 shots in low lights, taken with 3 different phones. Starting with the cheapest phone to the most expensive one.
Sorting Order:
1 - Redmi Note 4
Link: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Album
2- Moto G4 Plus
Link: Motorola G4 Plus Album
3- Mi5
Link: Xiaomi Mi5 Album
My judgement:Please be aware that this is an opinion, look at the pictures and compare em one by one yourself, to find your best. There here are mine.
Picture: Dog sitting in front of cabin.
Best shot: Mi5
the other two failed.
Picture: Road Left
Best shot: Moto G4 Plus
2nd: Mi5
Picture: Road Right
Best shots: Redmi Note 4 and Moto G4 Plus
Picture: Window Inside
Best shots: Mi5 and Moto G4 Plus
Picture: Fire place
Best shot: Mi5
others failed equally.
So what now?
-> Nothing! All of these are low lights shots and there is no clear winner... If I made more pictures the situation may change or may not.
The Redmi Note 4 is the newest phone, the firmware is early. XIaomi can do wonders if they want to, let's hope they improve it a bit more.
The verdict:
The alleged superb camera phone Moto G4 Plus fails inbetween just as bad as the much cheaper Redmi Note 4 does.
The Redmi Note 4 is capable of making decent low light pictures (sometimes).
What do you think about this?
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Mi 5X come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
anyone can share their photos? How's the camera performance?
I have this device for testing purposes.
Can tell the camera is not that good. Pics are blurry and HDR mode is not on point.
Selfie cam almost does a better job than dual lens.
I heard and saw all kind of stuffs regarding the camera on reviews, from opinions (and photos and videos) where you can see the camera sucks to others where you see a great camera quality. This obviously will depend as well on the experience of the user.
I specially saw the camera seems to be very bad when trying to capture objects in movement.
It would be good if experienced people could share objective opinions of the camera on all the conditions.
Let's say the quality you get is absolutely random. Some shots will be good, others bad... it's mostly average.
Overall there's a lack of sharpness.

i bought it before 10day ago, i bought it from amazon and now i dont know whether i can return it or not,
from where did you bought moto ? and how much refund did you get ?
and i believe, why should i exchange my mobile only because of real camera clarity ? amm getting confused,
i just want to stay with moto g5s plus because i know we will have some BOOM upgrades in near future
I just got my MI A1 as an upgrade for my 4 years old Nexus 5 daily driver. First impressions in Daylight the MI A1 outperforms the Nexus 5, but in low light the lack of OIS and relatively small 1.25 um pixel size means the A1 struggles a lot. Even getting a sharp focus is slow comparing with my Nexus 6P which has laser autofocus.
In comparison my Nexus 5 has OIS and 1.4 um pixels, and my Nexus 6P has 1.55 um pixels.
Taking into account the cost of the MI A1 however, this phone is a tip top performer and I have no compliants for what I paid. Very happy with it.

outdoor camera is acceptable also when you use 2x zoom, but indoor very poor, so many noise and lack of sharpness
Yeah, acceptable but not tip top performing.
I mean, the Mi 5X/ Mi A1 is good for taking photo of people, but average quality is poor and outdoor result like landscape with HDR definitely bad. In HHT the camera sucks.
bad really bad camera
as a mi 5x user i can confirm this is the most accurate answer
Hi. Our Moto G5 Plus have Sony IMX362 camera sensor. Specifications look great, we can find this model also in Moto Z2 Play, Asus Zenfone 4 and HTC U11/U11+ - these phones take great photos, but Moto G5 Plus... just not bad. Is it possible to improve quality of photos by installing drivers (modified) on Moto G5 Plus from other device?
Yes, I know phones like U11 have optical image stabilisation. I'm using tripod.
Hi all,
The Moto G5 plus has a rear camera of f/1.7 with 12 MP where as the best camera of Google pixel 2 has f/1.8 with 12.2 MP.
My question is it possible to install the Google AI software, algorithm and coding in the Moto G5 plus? If possible, how? If not, then, what will be the best camera app to use in Moto G5 plus? As the specs are pretty same but the coding, algorithm and software difference is a big deal. May be with the same camera of the G5 plus will take excellent photos using the Google AI software.
May be Im asking question like a fool but because I wanted too know.
In the comparing videos and reviews between Pixel 2 and galaxy S9 I have understood that the google camera software is a special one. With the google algorithm a smartphone may not need two cameras and lower aperture too. The lower aperture of f/2.4 with 8 MB of Pixel 2 does not stop taking best shots than any other phones because of the software. Where as the Moto G5 front camera has f/2.2 with 5 MB. But there are other factors like shutter speed, dual pixel etc. but I want to install the camera app in Pixel into G5 plus.
Can not post the links of specs as Im as new member.
Just install pixel ported camera app by arnova to get better photos nd portrait photos from your moto g5 plus.
First you need to flash a 64bit rom
Because google camera doesnt work on 32bit
And install google camera the ported one by arnova or other version.
Hello guys,
Is there a good working google camera pixel 2 apk for my new moto g6 plus?
The stock moto camera is not bad af all and i am happy with its pictures, both in day light and also in low light conditions. But a better camera app is always nice to have , so who knows more about this?
hello, to complete your question, I also find that the opening f1.8 is under exploit. we would have a great camera with the pro settings identical to the Huawei P10 or LG g5 / g6 for long exposure night shooting. 30 seconds to f1.8 for shooting milky way.
Possibility to change the original apk for unbridled aperture at 30s instead of 1/4s ?

The focal length f 1.7 simply captures more light. it is mechanical, to improve the photo performance should be able to get the free settings as a Huawei P10 or LG. fvcamera for example does not liberate the capabilities of the camera. it really should be able to get a mod, like what was done on the Xiaomi Redmi note 4 on XDA
Where did You find this and who did make the mod and apk?

Thanks very much for your link:good:. Can I trust the maker of it and is no virus in it? Do you know who modded this app?
How old is this app (maby updates needed) and is your smartphone also a g6 plus or a g6?
I gone test this app in low light and in daylight. What is in your opinion better with this app vs the (also very good) stock moto 2 app?
I
Picture failled.

Here some pics in very low light. The stock moto cam is much better vs the google camera from your download.
@Theike
how do you do to install gcam? on my moto g6 I have at the end of the installation an exclamation mark and the application message not install
On a g6 this doesn t work. Only at a 6 plus.
Ok thank
probably does not support Snapdragon 450 without mod

I did many tests between the gCam from your link and I do prefer the stock moto camera app more. Stock app is much better in low light and also gcam app pics in daylight are the same quelity or they are not as sharp and collorfull vs stock moto camera with hdr mode.
So , I am still searching for a top Pixel 2 app for the moto g6 plus.
I think the reason the gcam ports won't install on the g6 is because it's a 32bit ROM and gcam needs 64bit ROM to work as well as sd 450 support. It does support 64bit ROMs someone just has to build one and you would have to root.
