H918 mixing and matching of 10k/10p/10r/etc Firmware, kernel, ROM - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I've been browsing a lot the past few days and just want to make sure my understanding is correct.
Here's my current situation:
- Installed TWRP 3.1.1 with magisk 14.0 rooted on stock 10j
Are my following assumptions correct?
- Firmware version and ROM must match. For example, i can't have a 10p firmware and a 10q ROM.
- Kernel can be any version regardless of the ROM version. For example, I can have 10k kernel with a 10r ROM
Question:
1) With TWRP and root, would I be able to downgrade ROM version if I'm on 10r (using https://forum.xda-developers.com/v2...shable-zip-t3681312/post74037281#post74037281 )?
2) Is the ROM from the link above including kernel update as well? Does that mean a ROM always overwrites the kernel and if I want to customize the kernel, i'll have to flash it after applying a ROM?
Thanks

[Q] LP Bootstack Question

Hello all, I was hoping someone could clear up a few things regarding the transition to LP sources on some of the custom roms. While it doesn't matter atm, I am currently on cloudystock 2.5 with a D800 and have been eagerly following the development of 5.1 roms (especially Bliss and RR). I belive I am still on the JB bootloader and using KK baseband on android 4.4.2 with blastgator's twrp 2.8.6.1. The new roms now require the flashing of the device's corresponding Lollipop bootstack in order to make everything work correctly. I have downloaded this from the bliss link in that thread in preparation for switching roms.
I understand that the bootloader and modem are replaced by flashing this bootstack with the newest ones for my D800. Is there anything else that this file flashes that I need to know about? (I'm seeing a list of aboot, dbi, laf, modem, persist, rpm, sbl1, and tz image files inside the zip).
According to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/development/bootloader-flash-jb-kk-bootloader-t2965755 the JB bootloader supports loki'd and bump'd roms while the KK bootloader only supports bump. He even states that the LP bootloader is not exploitable. Is the LP bootloader in the bootstack zip also bump'd? Or is it at least a modified one? Will I still retain the ability to flash roms to my heart's content with the new LP bootloader? Though even I think it's silly to question the advice of literally every dev on this forum of installing this bootstack, I've yet to find any documentation surrounding it.
As i understand it whats happening is the old kitkat bootloader is being flashed with parts of the lollipop updates. Thus giving us a bootloader that can use the bump exploit but also the updated partitions list and modem for lollipop. For the d802 people are flashing one update that uses the latest kitkat bootloader along with the lollipop parts required with no user intervention required.

maybe you need to flash that : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...bootstacks-t3183219/post62428457#post62428457
Ty for the advice...

A little help, please.

I'm coming from 4.4.1 I want to flash a Lollipop ROM, I haven't flashed for very nearly 2 years. I'm obviously rooted already.
Is coming from KitKat as simple as just flashing a Lollipop ROM? I'm an SM-9005, I've got Odin 3.10 and I want to flash Resurrection-Remix-LP-v5.5.5.
I've seen that I need to backup my PIT and obviously backup my current ROM, do I need to update my baseband or radio etc?
No one?
No need to backup your baseband or radio. RR is an AOSP ROM as far as I know, so you won't be able to flash it with Odin I'm guessing, as it comes as a zip package? I don't have any interest or idea about it, but you can only flash via Odin if the ROM comes as tar image.
Also as you are coming from KK, you 'might' need to flash a stock Lollipop ROM first to update the bootloader from KK to LP, read RR topic, see if its mentioned or not. If its not then you probably don't need to, but as I said no idea.

Is it possible to build a pre-rooed stock ROM?

I have a ZE550KL still stock and don't want to root it until I can find a way to build a pre-rooted stock ROM so I can keep root but also update or downgrade versions as I like.
I also have a Sony Z3 and a Samsung S3 and both are quite easy to build pre-rooted stock ROMs, especially the Sony with PRFCreator. Now we have the TWRP recovery, flashable SuperSU zip and stock ROMs, is there any way to create a flashable pre-rooted stock ROM?
you may use pre rooted patched firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zen...oot-ze550kl-zenfone-laser-z00ld-1-15-t3249326
you do not need to unlock your phone.
just follow instructions, latest firmware is in same link.
you may download any version you wish.

Yes I know I can flash your patched firmware but I was hoping that after the initial root that I want to be able to create my own pre-rooted stock firmware. At present I always have to wait until you post an updated patched firmware.

Is there a 10p flashable zip that does not contain the anti-rollback feature?

I am running NATF's Megarom 5.0 right now. Is there a 10p rom that I can install that doesn't have anti-rollback so I can go to CM14 or something later on? I see that 10p will stay rooted if manually flashed in with TWRP, so I am wondering if the anti-rollback would be in there. Thanks.

I'm not 100% but as far as I know the ARB is baked into the stock firmware so I don't think that's possible as of right meow
NO! Do not upgrade to 10P if you want to flash other ROMS. I'm on rooted 10P and flashing other ROMS does not work. Yet.
Actually if he wants to go to a current AOSP ROM, he will need 10p firmware. But yes, if you flash the 10p firmware, you can't use any of the ROMs that are based on 10k or 10l.
As for ARB, research is being done on a safe way to run 10p without incrementing ARB. But for now, if you flash the boot stack ... you are all in on 10p
There are no ROMS running on 10P kernel. And you can't flash Lineage which will be the ROM we'll need four years from now.
I just came from Galaxy S3 running Nougat. LOS ftw.
What do you mean we can't flash lineage on 10p?
Flash it and find out. The phone doesn't boot past the LG screen.

Downgrade from Pie to Nougat

I already tried to downgrade from Pie to Los 14.1.
But RIL does not work after Installation. So I probably missed something.
I think i need N Firmware first, right?
So how to downgrade correctly?
Thanks in advance!
Depends on the firmware you were prior to flashing pie. You can fastboot flash according to that. Or just get a TWRP flashable stock build of nougat.
Grab the latest nougat from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/twrp-flashable-stock-builds-t3813351
The versions that use the aroma installer will make sure that you retain your IMEI by fixing your persist permissions.
