Is this normal battery draining? Lately this phone seems to be drinking the battery way too fast even with stuff turned off.
Wifi,Bluetooth, brightness 50% lots of apps off or greenify. What else I can do to improve the battery life?

I would start with your biggest "offender"...the facebook app. It is well known that the Facebook app is a resource and battery hog. Maybe try the web version for a while?
It's hard to say what's causing this drain, there's not enough information on your screenshots. Maybe you can try out the BetterBatteryStats app. It'll give you a detailed information about your battery drain. If from the stats won't be clear for you what affects on your battery, you could post then your stats in the BBS thread, I'm sure somebody would help you. But, before you'd post your stats, please read the op. (Main rule to post the stats: charge the phone fully, unplug it (I usually reboot the phone because takes a long time to drain from 100% to 99%), leave it at least for 6 hour on idle (best time is night time), and less then 1 minute sot).
Dont use facebook app... Use your browser
Normal battery drain for me works out to 0.4 - 0.6% per hour or 6% every 12h
That is with screen off, second screen off as well. wifi on & cell
Once i woke up and found it drained 30% over night. Just restarted and it went away
so far so good
Also, make sure not to use immersive mode.
I just had a battle with it. I was unaware of the battery drain "bug" when immersive mode is enabled. Its part reason why I landed on this thread while searching.
4 hours for this phone seems about right lol

Immersive mode hides your navbar and status bar.
I wouldnt recommend it unless you want a battery drain, but here goes:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leedroid.shortcutter
There are other useful tools to add to your quick settings tiles in that app also.
I'm rooted, but i beleive the functions can be enabled without root, the app has instructions.
Edit: I'm going to test a new setting i found in "shortcutter". It allows to disable immersive mode when screen is off. We'll see if the battery drain persists...

Greenify is your problem.

Are you using ad guard or similar ad blockers ?
For me, screen on and Facebook are the problems. I can leave BT, WiFi , GPS on all night on standby and only lose a few percent. Soon as i start using it , its over
I still ow 395 for this phone at T mobile so I might move to a note 8 assuming battery life is better. Cant even play BF before the battery is down 40%.
I wish i could move to the note8 as well. I pickd my v20 up for 225 off OfferUP .blacklisted on tmobile but works fine on MetroPCS

ok, lets try something more powerful
Ever heard of battery historian
Been following that tool for a couple of years but it was too involved to setup. Now its much easier. You can either run it locally on a PC or upload your zipped log file to a server he has setup.
What you do is
- Run your phone down to 10% from full. Use your phone as you would normally with 4g
- go to developer options - Take a bug repport ( dialog window appears with two options on my v20. Interactive and full report. Choose full report.
- when it finishes, you get an option only to share. Choose gmail or google drive. It will upload it. You can then download it.
Now the server he has setup is here
Upload the zipped log file and click submit, it will analyse your log files and present you with a historian v2 graph and a table.
Screen shot the historian graph, looks like this
Screen shot the aggregated stats table, looks like this
Post the screen shots here. Let's see what shows up

Thank you I will try that later on. It really pisses me off when I start using this phone and have to be checking the battery every freaking minute.
On my old note 2 and 5 I used to play Brave Frontier hours, use FB and even watch movies using MX player and the battery lasted 9 hours the less.
On this phone I just tested 30 minutes of gameplay, some FB and browsing on chrome and in 3 hours it drinked 40%.

Honestly I don't know, I have always used the phone until it gets to 10% if it allowes me to cause at times, the phone turn off at 11%. I completely recharge it and restart it most of the time.
I have had this heavy drain issue a few weeks ago.Turns out it was my anti virus,it even slowed my phone down by a rather large amount.Removed it,phone is blisteringly quick and battery is almost perfect.Have to remove facebook

Fully charged my phone night before last and went to work in the morning (9am). I didn't touch it all day, didn't even turn it on. On my drive home at 5pm it was dead, off.
I plugged it in with the phone off when I got home and saw that it was fully charged a few hours later around 10pm and I booted it up and left it alone. This morning it was dead, off.
Looking at the apps that take up my battery doesn't work because it doesn't retain information what happened to the phone prior to the last reboot. Not sure what to do. My awake time matches my standby time exactly. It's obviously a 100% awake time problem but what's triggering this?
I'm on Fresh .3 with absolutely no other mods. I don't think I have any apps that ping outside servers. So what the ****!?

That's a PITA. This is a clean fresh .3 rom install with only logmein, dropbox and couple non-online games installed. Why is this phone such ****ing fail right now.
Have you removed the Favorites widget? Doing that stopped all battery drain problems for me. Just delete the widget.
First thing to check is if you have a sufficient cellular signal. If you are getting a weak signal it will cause poor battery life. If cell signal strength is not your problem then it is definitely something you have installed on it eating away at your battery. That said check/do the following:
1) Check how frequently you have your accounts syncing
2) Before the phone dies look in your battery use to see what's eating your battery
3) Install a task manager/killer (I use Advanced Task Killer)
4) You don't have to do this one but it does help. I use a program called Startup Auditor to disable startup on apps I don't need to run when the phone first boots (you'd be surprised how many are in there).

delete it completely or remove it from one of the home panels?
the "time without signal" workarounds seem to prove the most effective for me. in addition, reduce background usage and automatic update frequencies as best as you can.
according to this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709768] (and link within), HTC has acknowledged some issues and is preparing to deploy a few fixes.
You are running someone else's ROM, there could be a problem with the radio, or a problem with the way it was loaded.
If you are in an area where you don't get signal, you are going to drain the battery, and FAST.
Do you have 4g on but not in a 4g area?
I am...
fully rooted and have fresh .3 as well. I am getting over 30hrs with moderate use and the last hour of that I had everything on to purposely run it down to dead. (was doing a toastch recommeded battery meter calibration).
Took my phone off the charger last night at 7:30 pm. It's 2:23pm and I have 31% left. I have Wifi, BT, and Background apps with auto sync turned on.
I would say you might be experiencing the Motorola cell tower problem. HTC has confirmed that the EVO is not playing well with cell towers that have motorola transmitters. It is causing the phone to use more energy to dial in the tower.
To be sure...
1. Set all apps and widgets to manual update or update once a day.
2. Get rid of the people app or widget from any home screen.
3. Go into Gtalk and uncheck auto sign in. Then sign out when you exit the program.
4. charge the phone until the green light comes on. Don't use a battery meter. The second the green light comes on, go into recovery and wipe the battery stats. Reboot the phone and run it until the battery dies and will not longer power the phone. This does nothing for the battery but does recalibrate the internal battery meter.
5. For maximum life...turn off: background data, WiFi, BT, and Mobile networks when not using. keep screen at 1/2 brightness.
If I do the above and manually update mail, weather, social apps, etc... and only turn radios on when I need them, I can get 40 hrs. out of my EVO and this is under moderate to high moderate use.
One other thing....plug your phone in for 10 minutes. Then unplug it and go into immediate stand by for like 30 minutes. Go to settings>about phone>battery>battery use>cell standby. Time without signal should be very low....anything over 10-15% and I'd suspect that if you did everything in 1-5, you have a towers issue robbing your battery.
I was having awake time issues with Fresh .3, so I switched to DamageControl, and everything has been great. Unplugged this morning at 7, and I still have 75% battery remaining. Better battery life than the Hero or BlackBerry Tour!

I seem to be having the same problem as you and it is quite frustrating. I get a steady 10% battery drain every hour even when its idle. I tried juice defender and setcpu and it is still the same. I turned off all my sync accounts and nothing. I also have systempanel and it doesn't seem like theres a rogue app eating my batteries.I'm going to truth to stock tonight to see if something is wrong with my phone. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your phone?
AVA9 i get 20 hours a charge
but YES something is eating your battery install system pan have and let it run a bit and check the info id bet its
1 your evo spend a lot of tWOS
2 you have a rogue app eating your battery

I do apologize for bumping such an old thread, but I feel like this thread has already asked much of what I also wanted to ask but have not reached a conclusion. Therefore I would like to try and solve the problem or provide as much info as I can to solve the problem.

As you can see besides the internet, there is nothing else thats taking up the battery. Also I took this pic after I put the phone on the charger for a bit, it was at ~ 13% before. The battery usage information says a majority of the battery was used by #1 android system and #2 cell standby, it was neck and neck almost, with #3 being phone idle. My weather app polls every 3 hours, my facebook syncs every 30 mins, my htc sense facebook syncs once a day, and I have not configured any other emails except for two gmail acconts, which received probably 3 emails throughout the whole day.
I just used setcpu today, it made absolutely no difference. Same results as yesterday when I did not have setcpu. Thanks in advance for the help!

Why would anyone use an EVO as a simple phone.
I am beginning to think peoples opinions on moderate use vary tooooo much. The EVO is similar to an unplugged laptop. The more you make the cpu work the faster your battery is going to drain.
It seems some people just dont get that.

Hey guys and please dont crucify me. I know there's a ton of other battery issue threads on this forum and on many others but I cant find the right one. I have looked up each and every one of them, about mediaserver draining the battery about the android system and so on. I have done everything each thread said to, downloaded greenify and hibernated most active apps, disabled and froze certain bloatware with titanium backup pro and so many other things. And I think that the battery would be supposed to perform at its best right now. I am not a very heavy user, I just use my phone for music, calls, a little gaming and the occasional facebook/messenger/browser session with either 4G or WiFi. I have everything everyone ever said turned off. Things like auto backup of Google+ and all location services and auto sync. Screen is constantly at 65% brightness. To further prove my point, at this point in this post which took me like 3 minutes to write, my battery has lost 3 percent. I can leave the phone unplugged all night at 100% and when I wake up it will be at 95% but the moment I pick it up and start playing some music or some games the battery goes down really fast. I can even compare it to the battery of my old Xperia S after a year and a half use which was like 7 hours altogether. Battery stats say that mediaserver takes up 20ish% battery and Android system goes over 40%. I really don't know what to do. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, George.
you should look at the time it depletes when screen on, if its below 5 hours from 100% downward then its not good. I have noticed the battery still charges past 100%. So leave it an hour after it reaches 100%. I would also recommend using the charger that came with phone. No usb charging for these tests. Dont use phone while charging either.
Also freezing\debloating can be adverse, at least thats my experience on battery life. So I recommend going back to stock full clean with factory resets.
No recovering of apps or app data for these tests. No contamination so to speak.
Also lg roms allow you to switch off services via taskmanager settings, in settings app you can disable what you dont want to use. No need for debloating\freezing etc.
Switch off location settings, gps and bluetooth for this test. Search for carrier iq on lg g2 forum and how to disable it via settings. Switch of cloud storage(dropbox/box etc) and lg backup stuff. Only google accounts, wifi and mobile networks.
Now for the screen on time test, just use browsing apps. No games or music\movies.
Your screen on time should be 6 hours approximately. From 100 to 0. It can be 5-6 hours. If its below 5 then its not good. this is with good network coverage btw.
thats what I would do

Yes I have tried all of the above. Only thing that sticks out is something called 1013 which keeps running and waking my phone but I think it's something about the sound. Next is Android System with many wakelocks and as I said with 30+ % battery consumption. Everything location-wise is off. Actually everything is off. Every setting. Things go to hell when I open 4G or WiFi. Also I have the international model so I don't think there's carrier IQ in my device, or maybe I didn't find it in an app suggested by someone here for that purpose. System Tweaks I think it was.
Could you post a screen shot?

I've had android 4x do this on multiple devices, multiple roms for no apparent reason. Wipe it and start over. Wipe everything. Especially directories with any form of music, sound files, videos... ( Use LG Flash Tool and go back to stock 4.2 for example will do just that )
So the OTA came over to my country and now it seems like BBS and WLD are broken. Can't really do anything to show you the more complex battery stats and can't really say that the battery has improved. Reducing the brightness did have some effect but I am not really fond of having it at such low values. Anything else I can do to minimize the Android System battery consumption? Its bigger than what the screen is using, even when it was at 70% brightness.
Sad to say my first LG G2 just got replaced today & am now running into this problem with the 2nd phone. Its literally night and day battery life performance between both phones.
First phone had 0 issues and by now I'd still have battery % in the 90s. New phone is sitting @ 63% after 3 hours of use (setting up phone, few reboots here there....just factory resetted for the 2nd time to try and clear this etc)
Culprits are:
Google Services
Android Core Apps
Media Server
System UI
Both phones are: 4.2.2
build: JDQ39B
Software: D80110c
brightness (which never was an issue)= 45%
O.P,
has your situation improved or worsened since you've encountered this problem? I'm thinking about sending my replacement back for another replacement

I can now say that the battery life of my phone has improved. But sadlyf the problem was probably some corrupt mp3 files that I moved directly from my old device which forced the mediaserver service to run constantly and thus the android system. :/ I still can say that I think it drains a bit fast when I use it for browsing, Facebook, games and stuff but at least when I check the battery consumption, the only things stated there that make a difference are the screen at ~30-35% and the game which I was playing or for example Chrome. It finally feels like that whatever I use drains the battery and not something else in the background but I don't have that good of an impression for the 3000mAh "beast" battery of the G2. Awesome phone though.

I ended up returning my replacement phone and am back on my original G2 until I can get a proper replacement. I can tell you, the G2 does have an awesome battery life if you get a good phone out the box.
The differences between my first G2 and the 2nd one tmobile sent me are night and day. Get a replacement phone while you still have time.
Should have my new one next week. Just hope it's exactly like my first one.

You're on 4.2.2, not 4.4.2 when you have the 1013, is that correct?
Try rebooting when the volume is on, rather than rebooting in quiet/vibrate mode.

The OTA came to my country some days ago. Still the battery feels kind of small. Is it normal to lose 1% every ~1-2 minutes on 4G browsing? With nothing else on. No gps no G+ backup no anything.
I received my phone 2 dags back, and i spent most of those days setting it up. Charging it when needed and not quite keeping tabs on the battery life. The phone also used to get hot these few days amd i assumed that it must be the tedious setying up that was making it hot and dischargibg it rapidly.
Today was my first proper day of usage.
I unplugged the phone at 7am and by 12:30, it was 0%.
I'm attaching the stats.
Is this normal? What steps do i take to fix this? because this isn't something i can live with.

Not sure if you're rooted, but there's specific apps to help narrow it down, for that hopefully someone else more knowledgeable can chime in. I do know however that both Facebook and Facebook Messenger are horrible when it comes to maintaining good battery life. So an option would be uninstalling those and logging into Facebook through Chrome or any other Web Browser that you use. And now it gives you the option to notify you through the browser for new notifications.
I'd also reboot the phone once you've done that, charge to 100%, take it off the charger and reboot again and let it drain. Give it a charge cycle or two and so how it goes.
I would recommend GREENIFY app , even for non-rooted devices you can manually or even automatically force close any apps which are not necessary to remain active all the time (e.g WhatsApp and messaging apps should not be included). You'll be surprised how many apps keep running and using cpu and network resources even after you "close" or stop using them.
I join the recommendation about FB and FB messenger - same for Instagram - these are memory hogs. Your situation is absolutely not right - please report - would like to hear how you are doing.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei P40 Pro before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

12.5 hours? That's insane! Do you mind sharing your settings & tweaks? This phone eats ~10% with screen on and 3% with standby with my regular settings. I do see a difference with or without 90hz, though.
6-6.5h sot on 4g/lte. On WiFi didnt tested because i dont have that many time to check sot only on WiFi . But looks more like 11h easly.

12.5 hours is actually normal. But my settings are 60h, (90hz actually doesn't make much of a difference). I've got several apps disabled too. I always have GPS, Bluetooth, Data, WiFi, 5g Off unless I need to use them. Always on display is switched off. I always have dark mode on.
If I was you I would install Gsam battery monitor and see if any apps are keeping your device awake in the background because 7 hours is way too low

If I was you I would install Gsam battery monitor and see if any apps are keeping your device awake in the background because 7 hours is way too low

Thanks for sharing, bro. :good:It seems our preferred settings are quite different. I prefer 90hz as my picky eyeballs can tell a big difference . I turned off some of the bloats (but not all), and I keep wifi, AOD, and data on. Honestly, with my regular settings, I'm not expecting it to last longer than 9 hours.
GSam battery monitor has been installed, but I haven't delved into it. My plan is to adb disable a few H apps and watch the difference. I guess you have tested it out, and I'd like to hear your advice.

I can't see much difference with the refresh rate, the phone is smooth af on both settings ?
AOD will drain plenty of battery. I've uninstalled some apps with ABD too, but I uninstalled something I shouldn't have, restarted the phone and the phone wouldn't boot up so I had to do a factory reset ? be careful with what you uninstall with adb?
I'm on 94% at the moment with 1 hour SOT, been using it for Web browsing and WhatsApp.
With gsam I've enabled the extra settings with ABD which shows wake locks, so far I've seen many wake locks from *alarm* but the maximum wake time I get in 24 hours is roughly 6 minutes which I assume is normal,
I keep my screen on lower resolution too and I guess that's helping big time (I only use full HD if I'm watching a film)
I've also disabled background data for every single app and I've set App lamuch all to manual and the only app I let run in the background is WhatsApp, I believe this will improve battery life by loads

LOL. Happy to hear that 90hz wouldn't hit my battery hard. I'll play with the AOD settings, although it's something I'm really looking forward to moving from my old device. I've turned to a lower resolution too, and I couldn't notice the change. All apps in app launch have set to manual and no background except email and one chat app. This is the bottom line for me. LOL.
Keep awake time is ~7m with frequent screen on/off during my 1d regular use, which I'm generally happy with. I'm planning to take a quick look at the wakelock during a short standby, but alarm didn't rank high (after hibernation, syncloopwakelock and eventloop). (BTW, I really hate it that they disable unlocking bootloader, otherwise we can easily tweak those services.)

AOD is not good imo, in the long run it will cause screen burn (very common with AOD).
Take a look at my screen shots, have your app launch set up like mine.
Keep awake time seems normal, I get roughly 6mins so no issues there
Can you send me a screenshot with your full battery usage? Along with every app which has consumed battery?
Look at my 2 screen shots. Have your app launch set up exactly that. The 3 options need to be disabled along with Manual setting on.
Second screenshot you see has background and roaming data OFF for every single App except Gsam & WhatsApp ?
PS use a dark theme too

I understand that AOD could burn the screen in the long run, but the bright side is it frequently shifts the bright pixels and is automatically switched off in pocket/face down.
Yeah, I have almost identical settings as yours since yesterday. I'll give it a shot, and upload the results. Thanks again, mate.:good:

Sorry to bother you again. I did a quick test using gsam battery monitor. It's not a full cycle, but representative of my daily use. I did not see a huge impact by low resolution probably because the automatic resolution takes care of it in part of the scenarios. Since the Google play services takes the most of the battery, and the other apps have been pretty much limited, I have no clue of how to damp the wakelocks and improve the battery life further. crying:

No it won't. The AOD image is automatically repositioned on the screen over time so it doesn't cause burn-in.

Hey, I'm not sure why your Google play services battery drain is so high ? if you scroll all the way to the right you'll be able to see what app is causing the drain. The only part I could see was com.Android on your last screenshot.
Best thing to do is find the wake lock names and use adb to ignore the wake locks,

I totally forgot about that function in adb shell. LOL. That issue with google play services got fixed by clearing the cache. After that the battery life was improved a bit (8~9 SOT), and I'm happy with what it is now. I'll keep looking for the culprit and play with the adb ignore commands. Thank you for your help!

Which cache did you clear? I want to clear it too to see if there's any improvement. What cache was it you cleared?
I'm glad you're battery has improved ???
Let me know if you find any culprits please and if you find any other ways to improve battery life ?

I believe I cleared the cache for google play services and framework, and please note that don't mess up with the data of framework.
So far my device is running very smoothly, and the majority of alarms come from android heartbeat, and a few from GCM-related intents, so I'm happy with it. I'll have a full battery cycle run and see if I have any improvement. :highfive:

One thing that I forgot to do, which may explain why I had some surprisingly high usage of google play services, is to turn off the auto-updates in google play store, although I don't think it has a big impact on the battery. Overall, the battery life (see attachment) looks good to me given my settings and everyday use.
It's kinda surprising to me that the bloatware from Huawei kept silent whereas google services rang a lot of doorbells. Don't know why, but I figure google has reached its hands to too many hidden areas in my device whereas Huawei is still learning from his big brother. Just kidding:laugh:.

I already turned off auto updates ? and your stats looks very good! 3 hours SOT with 70ish percent left, that's very good.
Juding by sales, looks like huawei will be the bigger brother soon ??
Hey there I have S10+ eu g975f with last firmware OFFICIAL. My battery is draining to fast even with the screen off. I tried to flash again the official firmware but the problem persists to exist.i don't even play games, watching movies or something similar. Just messenger and Instagram.
Last days of the battery usage. In 2 mins of using it or while screen is off is losing like 1-2 percent of ?. What can I do for it ?
Sorry for double posting
Anyone?
I can't see the pictures. But this started a few days ago? Do you have on wifi, bluetooth, location, nfc, etc...? What is your brigthness level? Did you try to reset the device?

Do you use VoLTE? Try to disable it. Facebook and messanger is consuming alot of battery.
And appears you have bad reception. That could explain the battery drain.

Bad reception or low signal drains battery because the phone is actively looking for better signal or closer cell tower if you have 1 bar or 2 bars i would turn off data or switch to wifi if you're home. Another thing also another member above said Facebook and Facebook Messenger are FAMOUS like i mean Arnold Schwarznegger famous for draining the battery in the background because they are constantly doing shady stuff when you're not looking syncing messages or listening to push notifications, also that Instagram looks suspicious as hell, i don't have one but it looks weird in my eyes that it drains so much in less than an hour.
If i was in your place i would uninstall Facebook and FB Messenger and Instagram then charge the phone to 100 before bed and when you wake up you should have about 96% left if it's like 90% or lower then yeah an app is running in the background syncing and won't let your phone go to to sleep and my bet is on those 3 apps Or just turn off Sync from the pull down menu and see what happens, let us know here what you find out good luck

Battery doesn't deteriorate that fast unless you let the battery drain all the way to 0 multiple times. Lithium ion batteries have a finite amount of charges to them, it is best to keep the battery in the range of 20% to 80%.
Download an app called AccuBattery i have the full version you can find out the status of your battery and what's going on with it

I know, I am charge it when it goes to 5% and leave it to 96% . Every day I must charge my phone 2 times.
Also I have the full version of this application on my smartphone, it's just shows the battery life while having this app in the background but it keeps drain because it consume battery.
I will download it again and see the battery .
Weird cuz after flashing the official firmware nothing changes....

What do you see in 2 days of using this app ?
I noticed about 2 months ago my battery life started to tank as well. I've changed nothing about my device and when I turn data off in strictly use Wi-Fi it drains even faster even with sync all turned off

It doesn't show much it's been 2 days but something is killing your battery. I purchased the s10+ Exynos version and haven't done anything to it yet no apps installed just the firmware upgrade to CTF1 June1 security patch and battery is fine here so it must be software related.
Try to find an app called BetterBatteryStats i'm sure you heard of it that app will show you in detail who or what is preventing your phone from going into sleep even system apps are acting up it will show so try that i'm pretty sure an system app is acting up.
In my old days from kitkat and lollipop era the Google play services was always the problem back then.
I forgot also another app Wakelock Detector i don't know if that app is still around that's what i used to find out what was killing my battery on my Note 3 lol

Yeah I would install those apps i mentioned to the guy above to try and trace the cause i'm pretty sure an app or a system app is using wakelock to prevent the phone from going into sleep or deep sleep
Apps that use GPS are common and wifi as well. Lately i've been reading that last firmware update messed up the phone so one step at a time we'll find out who the culprit is
First time I see this popup.
I thought don't needed to run any commands or to be rooted.
Check this out guys. Is it bad ?
Do I need to change my battery ?
