Hi peeps, need some advice.
I've been lurking on the Facebook marketplaces and I've seen an S8 for sale that is listed as being blocked in the UK. Could someone here be able to clarify exactly what this refers to? Is this regional blocking?
Any advice would be helpful.

That phone was either reported lost or stolen and an insurance claim was made either was bought on contract and the buyer failed to pay his bills. In any of these two circumstances british carriers are blocking the IMEI.

I'd recommend you spend ~£3 and get a CheckMEND report - that will give you some info as to why it is blocked as well
Thanks for the advice peeps, is there any way to get the IMEI unblocked so it can be used legally in the UK?

If it's being sold through those channels it's likely stolen.. So no.
Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. I was leaning towards a too-good-to-be-true scenario...

Hi there, is it possible to unlock mda pro?? i know someone who can unlock them for 50 pounds each. is there anywhere i can buy that clip to unlock myself?
HELP HELP HELP
Yeap, have you read the rules of the forum?
I aqsk, as you have made 2 post exactly the same, and you have asked something that has been asked countless times before - search the forums.
On that note, you can get the unlock code cheaper by contacting T-Mobile (~£15) or, you could get it for free by waiting for the guys here who are working on it.

That is only true if you live in the UK. All other countries ask much more for unlocking.

It is also only true if T-Mobile in the UK can find the right code to unlock you, they seem to have no record of the phone that they sold me

going thru t mobile or what you just did.
If you're not on T-Mo then who are you on? Does anybody but T-Mo use their 3G frequency in the U.S.? If not you'll only be able to get edge speeds
If you're on AT&T, I'd recommend selling the T-Mo dream and picking up a Rogers one, that way you can get 3G.
That is assuming you're not going wifi exclusive.
Anways, easiest way to unlock is to just buy an unlock code from Ebay. They're like $7. Just search for T Mobile HTC Dream unlock code or something and you'll see them. Buy off somebody with a high rating. Should have the phone unlocked within the hour.

i made the same experience
This question has been answerred dozens of times in several different threads in this forum.
Just go through T-Mo they do it for free, explain the situation and they should be able to request the unlock code for you regardless of whether you are using their service or not.

Hi All
I bought this i9505 a couple of years back and have been using on EE network (UK) - the handset is locked to EE and I would now like to unlock to use on O2 (UK). In order to get EE to unlock it - they insist on charging the owner on their next monthly bill for the service. I am no longer in touch with the original owner... so does anyone have any ideas how I can unlock this?
I have tried the posts which show to unlock in service mode - but this doesnt work (at least not for me!).
Does anyone know of any company that can unlock via IMEI or other service?
Thanks in advance.
S
Do a search for "Triangle Away" in both the SIM unlocking thread and the forums in general. Should be plenty of information in both places to assist you.
Us lucky S4 owners and our ability to unlock the phone without paying for it.
On a serious note, he may have to pay up if the SIM unlock method we use here doesn't work.

Or you can simply buy an unlocking code. I got my Galaxy S6 unlocked a few months ago (and a few other phones) using some online providers. If you want, I can recommend you some.

Thanks Andrew - are you in the UK? If so please do let me know which service you used as the couple I have tried take the IMEI number then route you through to lots of phishing websites wanting you to complete surveys etc... if you know a service that is safe in UK then I really dont mind paying (a little )
If you go to sammobile.com, they have an unlock service there you can use. Cost I believe is around the 20USD mark (13.30GBP) for the most basic option, though they do have quicker options that cost more.

Hey,
Sorry for the late response, I was away for the past week. So, the website is www.unlockunit.com, if you still need to unlock your phone. There wasn't any survey to complete, just an order form.

Was wondering if T Mobile stocks this or not? I am aware it got pulled last summer , but thought it got put back again, cant see it on their website, would the stores sell it?
Just to answer my own question, no they dont sell it anymore. Thought pehaps by the off chance they might have some inventory via customer services which they didnt.

No worries, thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm getting a generic phone booster from China. What could possibly go wrong...

Hi guys, my G6 was recently blacklisted in Canada due to non payment...
At this point, is the phone locked? So it will need to be unlocked.
Or being blacklisted is another story? Like it will work again only if it had a new (different) iemi?
If so, can I change the iemi by myself?
Thanks
Only way it will work now is with a sim from a different country. Otherwise you have a fancy WiFi brick.

If so, why when I asked phone repair shops they said it can be fixed... They ask a lot of money for it.
Only way the owner can get the IMEI unblocked is to pay the network what you owe and ask them to revoke the block.
Discussion of IMEI is banned on XDA as it is illegal in many countries and the site doesn't want to be shut down.
The repair shops offer to replace the motherboard, which comes with a different IMEI number and costs a lot.
Hello,
the imei can not be changed, and if it is it is perfectly illegal.
why not pay what you need and find in exchange a functional phone !?
It would be too easy not to pay off your debt and help you get around your operator's punishment
Thanks guys for the replies.
Actually the phone I'm paying for it but I have made an important delay on one of my bills, personal issues... This is life
Now I'm paying for it but the carrier will unblock the imei in months... So nothing is illegal here.
But I understand and respect the fact that's we can't talk about it here.
Sorry!
