I ask because I saw 2 other threads of people trying it (Will try to find them) but wanted to make sure they had CWM before they really put things to work with the custom ROM.
More than anything, wanted this to be a discussion thread for system tweaks etc now that the tMo version is available, it won't be long for others to follow.
I believe koush posted a vid on youtube of cwm running on the tab.

Clockworks only works on bone stock tmobile tabs which is unfortunate for me since i need the euro firmware to make calls. I probably would flash a new kernel if tho. Waiting to see if anyone is brave enough to do it.

I'm using it on a tmo tab with JMA and Koush's kernel fixes the bluetooth mic bug for me.
If it's anything like the phones, flashing kernels shouldn't be an issue. If it messes up you can always go back via nandroid. If we can cook up some kernels that promote underclocking/undervolting we could start looking at better battery life for our devices.
From my experience with the phone area flashing radios is where the bricking occurs because of the bootloaders. Never flash the same radio twice. Also you should never flash just for the hell of it because of the riskyness of it.
I think now that we have nandroid cooking up roms should easy.

What's the bluetooth mic bug? (Searched on this term, and it only returned this thread!).
Regards,
Dave
i think its an issue with the NA tabs that prohibit the use of bluetooth microphone. maybe just another level of security to prevent convenient use of the phone
The N1 has a similar CPU and generally only gets to around 1.15Ghz, a _few_ will manage 1.2 in a stable fashion. I wouldn't expect the tab to get much beyond that.
I'm actually more interested in being able to UNDERclock the CPU, doing so on my N1 improves the battery life significantly.
The addition of the On-Demand governer would be beneficial as currently the SGT is stuck on the Conservative governer. I believe with the N1 kernel this is a compile-time option so with any luck it's as simple on the SGT.
Im pretty sure 1.4 will be possible but maybe not completely stable. I know some have gotten 1.3 stable on the galaxy s phones so it should be feasible.

Actually, the mic works fine on a cellular call. Its the VOIP calls from SipDroid, CSipSimple or Skype that has the microphone problem.

im on sprint cdma, but i used some common sense to get free incoming/outgoing but of course so far ONLY voip thru csipsimple and sipdroid...im still testing them both(i prefer csipsimple ui) but it works very reliably...i test using my evo & my fiances hero to call my tab.only sipdroid lets me use my bt headset i use for media though. to get this to work you just need mobile data and/or wifi. i presume the bug is only related to gsm models.

hi,
i've tried about 5 different 2.2.1 i 9000 roms which ported to vibrant
when i record in the built in call recorder in the dialer it records and saved.
but when play it in the phone's voice recorder or music player and even in the computer i hear some sound of like a dc signal (like hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
i wiped all the entrie phone include my sd card
and all the roms i tried it does the same problem
please tell me what i missed
i use overstock kernel which automaticly replaced by flashing one of this 5 roms i tried
anyone can check if it works good on his vibrant?
thanks for helping
i have same problem, never sucesse
Only certain Vibrants that were manufactured more recently are able to use this feature. Several developers have confirmed this.
Some have specific dates, but I don't remember.
Manufactured October and after if I remember correctly
call record
i recently got a new factory refurbished vibrant and it still doesn't work. maybe i should try for another

please devs guys do something we really need this feature,
'I can guess it's maybe changing the output and the input names of the vibrant's audio module somewhere in code or something can be fixed by kernel mod addition
Who's ready to do this?
Thanks.
Any updates on this?
Oh SNAP! known BUG in da hizzouse I still honestly don't know why you would want this feature: "Oh yes you did say you hate my mother mister,......(looks down at phone searches for recording) LISTEN, snap!"...... but, tru dat. tru dat not werkin here either just checked on Malice2.3.1. so we have a known NON werking date of 01.2011
maybe OP can update with any known dates of werkin and NON werking phones. Also maybe a list of werkin and NON werkin ROMs Here i'll start it:
Werkin dates and ROMs: NONE
NON-Werkin dates and phones: Allhaha. Seriously though might be helpful for others.
one way is to flash china unicom modem.
but this modem has different 3g module, so you can just get gsm signal. no 3G
Does call recording has to do with modem driver?
I was able to get call recording to work! Without using the speaker phone!!
Im using Bi-winning v2. I bought my vibrant in september so its manufatured before october (horrible gps). But the combination of Bi-winning and Tape-a-talk from the market and I get to record calls. It also worked when I flashed simply honey using tape-a-talk.

It is working!
I just recored a call without speaker.
The other party's volume is low but hearable.
Using Tape-a-talk (and also vRecorder worked) , bionix 1.3.1 and tigerblood
Ever since I own the Vibrant, I never managed to record a conversation.
I have been through a lot of ROMs, like Bionix 1.3.1, Simply Honey, Cyanogen, MIUI. Project V and many others.
A few of these ROMs had a recording button built in the dialer app, which never worked (when playing the recording I hear only some static noise).
I have tried all call recording apps from the market, including some paid ones, and I never could actually record a conversation.
Always this static noise.
Is it anything related to the hardware? my Vibrant was produced in July 2010. Actually bought it on March 2011 on eBay but probably it was some old stock.
I know about the law that doesn't allow to record a call, but in my country this law doesn't apply, and when calling a service provider like my ISP I always have to record the call otherwise I can't prove anything if they promise something and then say it never happened.
Any ideas how to record a conversation?
Apparently only vibrants built after a certain date have the proper hardware setup. My first vibrant, bought August of last year wouldn't allow recording. My new vibrant which I got in March does allow. This was using the exact same rom.
In addition the feature only works on froyo. I haven't seen it working on GB.

You can use Google voice to record calls just push the number 4 during a call via google voice. It will show up as a voicemail.

All right, I thought I knew every feature of gv.. I tried to do the research. How did you find this one out, I would have used this soo many times..
I also need to know that the Nexus 4 is capable of recording during a phone call before I buy one.
I've tested the app "Record My Call" with the Sony xperia S, LG Optimus One P500, & Huawei G300, all work acceptably with it, not as well as my Nokia C7 did but OK. I used to use the LG P500 with "TapeTalk" as well, I need to record customers details as I'm a home white goods repairer. Please don't start with all that legal stuff, as in Australia it's not illegal, it's just not admissible in court.
I now have a Nexus S, which is why I ask this, which won't even record my side during a call, if that is the case with all Nexus phones then I'll have to jump ship to a Sony, (the Xperia TX) but I like having a device that gets all the Google goodies, my Nexus S has just updated to CM10 stable & it's great. So if any of you new Nexus 4 owners could install & try Record My Call & report here I would be most grateful.
Anybody

Hi Ksavai, I thought some one who had tried it was getting back, but alas.
Come on guys, be a pal, be a buddy !
Record my Fall worked for my nexus 4!
But it makes a weird noise when i hang up.
I think it has something to do with the app.
Because it uses the mic to record.
When i disable the mic during the phone it does not record the other side, and me of course.
Only one reply, guess I'm in a small minority that are interested in this, surprised.

Actually you're not the only one! I joined this site just for this thread so here we go...
I own a Nexus 4 and was very surprised to find out that my call recording app of choice, Call Recorder (from Clever Mobile, version 2.0) no longer recorded the other side of the conversation. Just a few weeks ago, I was rockin' it with my Galaxy Nexus (GSM) and recording perfect phone calls left and right. I figured I'd have the same feature on the Nexus 4, but I was all wrong.
Thinking the app might be the cause, I switched over to another free one also called Call Recorder (from Appstar Solutions, version 3.21) and it records only from the MIC, which means it will work on a call when done through speakerphone. However, when you try to change the settings to either "Voice UpLink" or "Voice DownLink" it gives you a message stating that your device does not support this feature. Good thing I figured this out before going Pro ($6.99). This app also makes you go pro if you want to save the recordings and do a bunch of other stuff...which would be more than worth the price if it recorded directly off the phone line. I don't have my Nexus GSM with me at the moment so I can't see if this app works with it or not.
At this time, I can't seem to find any other recording app that works with the Nexus 4. It's possible that Google disabled this feature due to the vast amounts of legal issues this could present to users in certain areas. However, I'm not giving up just yet...
I also am interested in this but have no information to contribute as I don't yet have a Nexus 4.
If we get with Skvalex about his Call Recorder app and possibly start a donation fund to get him a Nexus 4, he'd most likely make this work as he's done for several phones that never had call recorder support before. Here is a link to his app.
I'm interested

@ledfrog I have neither phone, but from what i read on other forums, the Galaxy Nexus didn't record calls. Can you confirm what ROM you were using to get it to record calls? Or if it was stock?
I have done a lot of work with audio on Android devices and i know from experience that call recording is disabled in the low level code on a lot of handsets. This is due to the how legal it is in various countries.

I can confirm that call recording does indeed work on the Gnex (maguro) with the use of an app called CallRecorder developed by a member here on the forums "Skvalex". It uses another app called Alsa Mixer. Alsa Mixer also needs busybox installed to work.
Thanks for the input, please try the app I mentioned as working on the Xperia s. It works even of speaker, though not as loud but OK in a quiet environment.
I used the LG optimus p500 for a year with just "tape talk" turning it on manually, which have me hope with this nexus made by LG.

CallRecorder doesn't work. Not properly. It only records from the microphone - A kernel with the 2 way call recording patch isn't available yet (to my knowledge). And this is something I need, too.

I really thought a Nexus phone would be open enough to allow call recording...damn. Is it a kernel feature and can be added? Or is it on some other chip in the phone hardware and we can't do anything about it...
Also I'm surprised that wazbits had it working on a Sony device...my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc didn't allow call recording either.
Update: Tried a call with @deduction and VoIP (Viber) is working awesome!
Dear G2 users,
I had a Nexus 4 before and i had a lot of issues with VoIP, particularly Viber, ( but Line and Skype too ).
The voices incoming from the Nexus 4's "earpiece" was being exported by the Nexus 4's microphone.....generating "echo" to the others phones.
In summary, echo & noise cancellation wasn't working in my previous Nexus 4.
Source: Nexus 4 Unusable for VoIP Calls
Now i have a Galaxy Nexus, so i don't have this problem anymore.
But could you tell me if LG G2 is clear for VoIP calls? Of course that to find this issue, you need to hold another phone...(not the LG G2).
for instance, i discovered this issue on my Nexus 4 because my gf told me that she heard her own voice with Viber while she was talking to me.
I don't want to buy a G2 and have this issue again, that's why i'm asking this to you!
Best regards,
Sebastian.

I wanted to say that i just had a great call with @deduction using Viber: (LG G2 at USA vs Galaxy Nexus at Argentina) no echo, no issues.
So, the Nexus 4's echo_cancellation issue with the VoIP, that many people have/had, it's not here in the new LG G2 with Snapdragon 800 :good: :good:

Hello,
A simple solution is to flash CloudyFlex 2.5 or use Mahdi rom. In both cases all the VoIP are working perfectly.
With only one exception. "sometimes when you switch to speaker it cause lots of noise and call disconnect" other than that no problems at all.

I have just started using the G2 after much hesitation and I must say that I think it is a fantastic phone except for one major problem. When using VoIP services such as Viber, Hangouts, etc., I experience poor call quality and the user at the other end hears echo. After reading around a bit, I believe this is a software issue where the phone does not deactivate the second microphone during VoIP calls as it does during normal network calls.
To test my hypothesis, I established a Viber call with the normal poor quality, then I changed to: 1) SPEAKER PHONE – improved quality and no echo 2) HEAD PHONES – improved quality and no echo 3) BACK TO NORMAL CALL – poor quality and echo issues.
I had written to LG some months earlier and they acknowledged problems with VoIP calling, telling me that it would be fixed. I will write again with my observations and hopefully it will be fixed with the next software update, rumored to be Lollipop.
