I have a Gene in which i am using a 2 GB mini-MMC card.
Once in 2-3 days my gene loses the data on the card and shows some strange charecters with 1 GB or 2 GB size.Usually multiple folders with such strange characters are found.When i soft reset the card is shown normally.But after 2-3 months even softreset does not work.Then i have to format my card and start from scratch.3 times i have done hard reset but without any effect.I am not using any cracked software.I removed all third party software but still the same thing continues.
So i need your advice as
1. I cannot send the phone to repair as the nearest service center is 1000 km away.
2. I am not able to try another card as my mini-mmc is stuck inside the Gene( Damn the person who conceived this idea of putting the storage card space in an inaccesible position )
Please my dear friends. Any tidbit of idea can save my phone

I read somewhere that partitioning will resolve the issue but I just couldn't get to do it. There are guides everywhere to tweak the registry to fool the OS into thinking that your storage card is not a removable drive and then partitioning it, but I just can't get to do it. It shows me a drive with only 52mb space!?!
Anyways, this is a gene issue and we need to get it resolved. If anyone out there knows anything about it, please help.

After successfully experimenting with somany options atlast i have found the answer for the card corruption.
IT WAS DUE TO MERRIAM WEBSTER( SLOVOED ) DICTIONARY WHICH I HAVE USED FREQUENTLY-BOTH UNABRIDGED&MEDICAL.
I have removed them 1 week back and nomore card corruption since then.
So there is an issue with slovoed and WM5 ppc.
If anyother members having similar problem try this option.
I've been using windows 6.5 and android on my HTC HD2 for about a year , when suddenly it started to randomly crash.It doesnt show my storage card anymore ,i tried to take it ant put it in again , it doesnt work.Now it is stuck on "enter PIN" screen and i have no idea what to do .I tried rebooting it several times, still nothing.What can be done to fix it ?
Remove the SD CARD And sim card and soft reset. Then insert SIM without the sd and reset again. now insert the sd card.
My HTC hd2 has some crucial files stored into it's sd, that are needed for starting up. If I was in your place, I would do backup of my/your sd card and would do clean re-install, since I done that several times.

Read well few times before taking any action (BTW, you'll have to find one file by yourself, depending on your HTC hardware, since one of download links are dead).
BTW, you mentioned you use android and win mobile on htc? then probably you know everything better then I do. Probably nothing new for ya.

I have a dell streak 5 which had a faulty screen but was still working. While the screen was still faulty i noticed the screen would stuck on O2 logo. By that time i already ordered a new screen. My screen just arrived today and i replaced it.
I am still stuck with O2. I tried flashing but get an error when its about to finish flashing something like " could not mount ******** log files, gif files etc" and then it switch off. Its quite fast.
I tried an internal memory test in fastboot and it failed. I removed the 2 GB memory card and tested in a pc, i was asked to format it. I tried 2 other memory cards in my dell but all them failed the test.
CMD/CLOCK TEST : FAIL
CMD/ DATA TEST : FAIL
permanent write-nonprotection
Anybody in the same situation and having found a work around please assist.
Can the OS run on the external memory? if yes how and where to get it?
Any common cause the MB to not detect the Micro sd card?

If a new card is not detected and used, and i believe it should be, you have 2 things to look into, create partitions on the replacement microsd card to replicate the partition layout, i don't think you should need to do this though.
Probably more likely, there is a fault with the microsd card slot itself, or its chepset, in which case that is totally a hardware issue, unless its a easy fix a new motherboard is a possible fix, abeilt prohibitively expensive.
You should also look into other methods of recovery like QDL Tool.
To me it sounds like the internal microsd slot is broken or some other fault in that area.
As for using external as internal, i do not believe this is possible.
You mean create partitions in windows as I would do with any disk. Does doing a factory reset create the necessary partition?
QDL tool. I don't know how to use it. I found a lot about it. Can you suggest a good link where its explained in details the steps you are suggesting me. Your favorite.

Same thing just happened to me. I clicked FORGET and i can't get the SD càrd to properly format. Not only have i lost all my data when formatted as internal storage, but now i can't get it to work. I've had this MX since launch with no issues.
try formatting it in a PC.

Even I have the same problem I called customer care and they told me to visit service centre. I also tried factory reset but no use
Same here. I tried format the SD card in a Mac and a PC, tried again with other cards, but I have the same (frustrating) result. The only thing I didn't try yet was restoring the device, and I don't know if is a good idea (seems didn't working for any other person with the same problem).

Hi did you get that resolved?
I am having the same problem. I was using my old MicroSD Card. After the update for Android 6.0.1 it appeared a message saying that the card was corrupted or something like that and i might need to format it. I try to do so and and error appeared while formatting it as Internal so i remove the SD card and restart the cellphone and tried to do it at least as External Storage but i got the same error. So i bought a brand new MicroSD Card Class 10 32 Gb and had the same issue. I did a hard reset and start over and i have the same outcome.
All my SD Cards that i tried to use got recognized on my friends cellphones. Moto G Turbo, Moto G 2nd i got a Moto X play. The difference between them and i is t hat i have Android 6.0.1 and they 6.0.
Does somebody found the solution to this issue? . Which version of Android do you have 6.0 or 6.0.1. Everything got screwed up after the update.
Additional Details:
1. After the error appears the SD card is not being read anymore even if i eject it and insert it again. So i erased the Media Storage Cache and External Extorage Cache, restart the cellphone and put back the SD card again and i got recognized with the message that i need to format it. I try too many time reproducing this issue and i always got the same frustrating result. The SD cards were formatted on Mac and PC and also other Motorola phones and Same ****.
2. Called Motorola Services Desk on USA and LATAM. One of them told me to restore the cellphone to brand new state. I did it and same ****.
3. Am so sad for this not much information available
The same issue is there in many custom ROMs as well. I feel it's got something to do with 6.0.1 rather than the sd card itself.

No. I just bought the Moto X play. I was working fine with an Old SD Card. After i upgrade to 6.0 to 6.0.1 the SD Card is not read anymore and showing errors while format it internal or externally. I bought a faster card class 10 and same error. The thing is my friends with no update can read my cards without problems using same cellphones.
My sd card went crazy too after 6.0.1 though after a few tries I did manage to save everything on it into my pc using the sd card adapter. Then I did the slow format in Windows and put it back into the phone. So far it seems working fine.

I will try on a pc...did that on osx with Parallels Desktop...no go!
I have had the same issue as some above. Went wrong two weeks ago when the latest OTA became available from Motorola. The moment the phone restarted I received a warning that the microSD was not formatted, which had been previously set up as internal storage. I am 100% certain that it was the upgrade to 6.0.1 that did this, and not anything physical. I've tried approx 20 different methods to try to format it, both in the now-rooted X Play and on my PC, and even when it appears to be successful it actually isn't. Windows 10's diskpart will show the partitions, whilst most will not. It's as if the card has somehow become write-protected. The 128gb card was not cheap, so if anyone has had the same issue and has a solution, please give any tips you can!

sorry guys, bad news! I downgraded to Stock Android 6.0, it didn't fix the problem.
will try with a brand new sdcard...to see if the mxp is somehow very picky...or more simply the sdcard reader is damaged

Problem started when i updated (thru OTG) the device to 6.0.1 (stock), the device was fine that day and after i restarted my phone, it showed "Corrupted SD Card" msg. I tried formatting it as Internal Storage and couldn't succeed (The partition error started popping up!).

SD card corrupted and not recognized? Same where with two SD cards....Must be a software issue...My problem occured during flashing cm13 with apps by adb sideload - basicly via USB....The card is fine and the SD slot seems to be fine but somthing is not due to this error.
Some times it could be a hardware issue.. I lost my sdcard slot

Could be however the sd card is being recognized as broken....so the signal that there is a sd card is made....i think it's a software issue....something is screwed up. Will looke into it later .
