I would have asked Verizon, but I need a Verizon number to contact customer support.
I enabled the developer options on my smartwatch and toggled on the option to stay awake when charging, but the screen still turns off. It even turns off if ambient mode is enabled. I suspect it has something to do with dock mode overriding those settings. Is anyone else having this problem or found a solution?
Thanks!
Edit:
I found you can disable the charging app from settings. This prevents dock mode from starting, but doesn't keep the screen on. I found that enabling stay awake while charging in developer options keeps apps open but turns off the back-light. If you look very closely, you can see whatever is open faintly. Disabling it will go to ambient mode, but still switch off the screen.
I finally wrote a quick app to do what I want.

My screen still turns off with the app set to stay awake while charging. I have tried with the dev options enabled and disabled for stay awake while charging. Do I also need to enable debugging as well?

No. Mine works without debugging on or the stay awake while charging option. It also works fine with always on screen setting on or off. I'm assuming you are using the Wear24. If your watch was running Oreo it might be more aggressive about stopping the app, but I wrote a case for that.
Is the notification displaying? If you dismiss that Android Wear may stop the background process.
For me I'm unable to disable it it's on all the time while charging enabled or disabled

Looks like it is working correctly. I restarted the watch and it is now staying visible while on the charger. Thanks!!

I don't know when this started, but it is odd. If my device is charging, the display does not time out. It does that half dim thing, but never goes off. I have tried several of the timeout settings, all in fact. I am using Tasker, but none of my profiles or tasks set the time out to "always on". I have even disabled Tasker just to make sure. This happens with AC or USB charging
My wife's does not do this, both are rooted and on FR008 (thanks attn1).
Anyone else see this?

Every time I turn off my tablet, the next time I go to use it, it's already on.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is this something that other people are experiencing?
Thanks!
Never experienced that
I don't know, My first N7 is faulty but not that bad, maybe your tablet is reading your mind and it turns on when your thinking about using it?
How are you turning it off? Tapping the power button only turns off display.

That's weird. Are you rooted? Running a rom? On stock? Some additional details would be helpful to solve your problem.

It's clearly haunted.
Or an app is waking it up to sync / find location / steal and transmit your data.
Have you tried running Avast ? Locking all the running apps ?

quite strange..
I don't believe apps can turn it on when it's off..so if you turn your N7 off, your alarm is disabled. at least, I'm pretty sure of that.
And, so you watch it turn off all the way? And later on it's on?
Is it plugged in to the charger?
Have you ever watched it for a little while [while you were doing something else, just glancing at it once in a while] to see if it just randomly turns on?

really? but how does that work?
that means the clock app must be able to control the rtc hardware, and tell it to power up at a certain time... I didn't know they'd done that on the N7...

Calendar -> Settings -> General Settings -> uncheck Notifications
It's a shot in the dark but who knows..
Or I suppose if you like you could disable calendar sync in Accounts & Sync, and then erase Calendar's data.
This has been driving me crazy and I must be doing SOMETHING wrong because I can't get it to work on my Nexus 4 either.
I select Daydream and have it set to either or when plugged in, but the Daydream scene will not start, no matter which one I select.
In fact, here's what happens. I plug my Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 in set the Daydream to Clock (or any other), and the screen will just stay on. It will refuse to sleep until I press the power button, but it will sleep (screen off) if I turn Daydream off.
So I assume something is blocking Daydream from working? They are both running stock 4.2.1, bootloader unlocked and rooted. The Nexus 7 just had a data reset done and I even had reloaded the official images just yesterday.
I've also changed the sleep time to something different (currently set at 2 minutes) and it still doesn't do it.
Anyone know what might be causing the problem? Does anyone else have this issue?
Yeah, I got this as well. Daydream never starts unless I start it. Never comes on when charging.
Check developer options if "Stay Awake" is enbaled there.
Just a wild guess....

So safe to assume then that Google botched this? No one else can confirm that it works?
isent it supposed to stay awake so you can see the option you selected...?
daydream works perfect for me. I can only use it though while charging. I haven't figured out how to get it in a dock mode without a dock

Have you tried all the choices (clock, colors, etc)? When I first tried daydream, I had to cycle through them before one would work, once I got that one to work they all started to work.

I wouldn't know about that, because I was playing around with them a lot when I found this feature, but it works since I set one (I use slideshow or that other pictures one).
You need to wait a little (= screen timeout), and then it starts.
I am confirming it.
So weird. I plugged in my Nexus 4 into my PC..and boom. All of a sudden it starts working. Randomly. Same with Nexus 7. WTF. How weird...
I wonder if it had anything to do with the December bug...considering it's December 1st now..
Stay Awake
You have to make sure "Stay Awake" under 'USB Debugging' ins UNCHECKED (third one down)
When I press the power button to lock my Nexus 7 the daydream wont come on, only when it goes to sleep after inactivity. Total bs... is that normal?

This fixed my problem, thank you!
So for the last couple of days my HTC One M7 would recieve a notification and the screen would just stay on the entire time for no apparent reason. Im on latest OmniROM and its starting to bug me. Like for instance I get new mail on Gmail in the middle of the night. The screen turns on, it show the notification, and it doesnt turn off until I turn it off. If I restart, its fine for a few hours, but as soon as I get a notification, the problem reappears.

Dude, you took less than 24 hours before bumping. Not everyone checks the forums regularly.
Also, per the FAQ, bug reports belong on jira.omnirom.org
However the behavior you describe is a feature in Omni. Let me guess - you turned on Active Display and forgot about it? (Since it's off by default, and the behavior you describe is not something I've ever seen on any device when AD was disabled.)

Nope.
Just to note, I am seeing the same thing on my nexus 5 running the 10/13 nightly. AD is disabled and I have never enabled it. I was wondering why sometimes I would pull my phone out of my pocket and the display would be on. Since reading this I have verified that this happens when I get a notification. I will submit a bug report on jira.omnirom.org.
eta: oops, I just realized you need an account for jira.omnirom.org.

This doesn't occur on any of my devices, including a Nexus 5.
Are you running some sort of notification customization app of some sort?
Define "screen on" - Lockscreen? Blank with backlight on?

I am not running any notification customization apps just straight Omni nightlies. It happens with any notification that I receive. It goes to the lock screen and stays on until I unlock it. I am going to wipe and reinstall the ROM and try and determine if it's an app issue.

Do you have "screen stays on while charging" enabled? Even then, it shouldn't be turning on for a notification in the first place.
None of my devices turn on for a notification in any situation, and the screen always shuts off quickly (faster than the screen timeout setting) when it's at the lock screen unless "screen stays on when charging" is set in Developer Options.
Hi folks,
Just recently I have noticed that the screen is staying awake on my Nexus 6P. My phone is sat on my desk in front of me now and hasn't been touched for 5 minutes and the screen is still on. I have the screen timeout set to 15s so it should be long since off by now.
Does anyone know what the fix might be for this or how to diagnose the cause?
Thanks

Did u try to reboot? Did you enable or install anything thatll keep the display on? If enabled the proximity sensor will detect motion and keep the display on.

Yes, tried a reboot but still happening.
Not enabled anything purposefully but i'm always installing apps although not necessarily anything that should keep the display on. I was hoping there might be an app / menu that could tell me what app was keeping the screen on.
RE: proximity sensor - the screen stays on even when its laid face up on my desk with nothing near it, so can't see it being that.

Boot into safe mode and see if it's still doing it. If not, then it's an app that is keeping it awake.
Thanks for the help guys.
I installed Wakelock Detector last night and instantly identified a rogue app - an IP Camera app I was using - that was keeping the screen on. Uninstalled and all fine now.
Cheers again.
