How to tuneup notifications ? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I really don't understand how work permanent notifications on this device.
I'm aware we can manage them for each app from notification panel, and from "Notification Menu".
- I can't prevent a specific app to put notifications on lockscreen without disabling "All Notifications" on lockscreen from "Notification Menu",
- I can't prevent a specific app to appear in status bar :cyclops:
I've got a OP5 and I can tuneup apps like I want without problem, but not with this device.
Do you have any piece of advice or special app to use to do what I want ?
Bye.
[Edit] : Well, it seems that to be able to hide a specific app from lockscreen, I have to put a PIN/schema or some sort of security to have the option to hide on lockscreen

When you get notification, long press on it and there would be options. You can select more options, and there's an option for lockscreen.

Thanks, lockscreen option appears after I put a PIN code.
Last thing I have to find is how to prevent apps to put notification in statusbar.

The same way, long press notification and block all.

No, I don't want to block all.
I want some apps to put notification in notification panel only, but not in statusbar.
I have "services" like Tasker, Viper4Android, Mi-Fit who put permanent notification in order to stay alive (I suppose), they don't bother me in notification panel, but I don't want to see them in status bar.

Enable system ui tuner, enable power notifications in there and then you can set level of each app separately with long tap on notification. Exactly what you are looking for.

Many thanks, System UI Tuner was activated but I've not seen Notification option.
Last think I've to find is how to assign ''Menu Key'' to one of the hardware keys without having to install a third-party app (actually I have ButtonMapper) .
In Titaniumbackup I can't access ''Menu'' without ButtonMapper.

Yeah, it's hidden a little bit
For the button remap - it might be possible to remap the HW buttons by system files modification, though probably not worth the effort. With Button Mapper you have effectively several additional fully customizable "buttons" (double tap + long tap)..

[Q] Removing recommended shortcuts from drop down menu

Is it possible to remove the recommended earphone shortcuts that appear in the drop down notification when headphone are connected?

I would like to know the same thing. On my S2 (JB4.1) there is a menu option to disable this (System / Accessory / Audio Applications). They seem to have removed this option on the S4 - it's not on the Accessory options screen...
Could someone explain to me what the "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" actually is and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

when you plug in earphones to ur galaxy u get a set of recommanded apps to run in the status bar i have it on my galaxy s2 but on my s3 can't find it
OK, I've worked out how to disable this.
The notification comes from com.android.pagebuddynotisvc, which is called PageBuddyNotiSvc in the application manager ('All' tab). You can disable this service, and the notification + shortcut icons in the dropdown menu will now not appear.
Thanks pennas, I also noticed the "PageBuddy" app meanwhile, should've looked more carefully in the first place.
It's not that annoying to me, but I just still don't understand what the benefit is, when I can't configure it. Because the apps showing also seem to change. Meh.

[Q] Remove Emergency Call / Add Swipe

2 questions:
1:
Is there a mod to remove the Emergency Call button from the lockscreen?
2:
Is there a mod to enable swipe before unlocking - ie: The lockscreen looks the same as if it had no security until it is swiped which then shows the pattern unlock screen?
This would usually enable lockscreen notifications / music player controls etc to be shown without having to unlock. The S3 had these mods..
If theres a way to do it manually, I could also give that a go I guess...

I have no button on my lockscreen for Emergency Call, regardless of whether it's active or not...? If you mean it's set as one of the shortcuts, you can change those to whatever you like.

This is what I mean. If you don't have this coming up i'd find that odd. It doesn't come up if you have lockscreen security disabled.
And following on from this - after pressing the power button, id like to have to swipe before this screen pops up

OK, that would be why then. I just have swipe to unlock.

virtual keys edit

I've seen some apps that change the basic virtual keys to others. I remenber an app changing the virtual back, home and recent app buttons , to only one camera button, and after exiting the app it's back to normal
How is that possible ?
i want to remove the recent apps button.

I don't think that is possible without root... The only thing one could do is completely hide the navigation bar with immersive mode, and then perhaps draw a custom bar on the bottom of the screen which looks just like it. But I'm interested, can you remember which app exactly had that behaviour?

i've seen many apps doing that, but i remenber only mini-lock ( can't give link because it is on blackmart )
immersive mode is only for >=kitkat , i might have problems with that...
i might have to take a look at android's lockscreen source code

mmhh yeah now that you say that, i think it might be possible on the lockscreen if your apps is registered as a device admin, though I didn't quite find it during my quick search...

Found this one here:
You can not hide it unless you have rooted the device. But of course there is a workaround which might not fit with your requirement but several well known apps in the market at the moment using this strategy to achieve this disable menu bar feature for their apps.
Grant admin privilege.
Set password & lock the device using device admin profile api
Then load what ever the UIs on top of the native lock screen. (Of course this will show background lock screen whenever a transition happens between activities. But if logic is organized well, then it will be smooth & less noticed by the user)
When need to enable back, reset password to "" using resetPassword("", 0) of device policy manager object.

You can set the password and lock the screen using the DevicePolicyManager. Don't know how you would "load your UIs on top of native lock screen" though...

mmhhh and why is immersive not working for you? You have to keep in mind that the user needs the navigation bar to exit your app anytime...

[N] - Notification help

Backstory: I don't use the stock android alarm clock because when I am half asleep I can't figure out what icon snoozes and what icon dismisses so I often dismiss my alarm and go back to sleep... no bueno.
Solution: I have always used circle alarm. It has features that I really like but is now due for a visual refresh.
Problem after Nougat upgrade: I have do not disturb modes setup for when I am sleeping. I tried to increase the notification permissions for the app to allow the alarm to go off but when I go to Settings > Apps > Circle Alarm > Notifications, the slider is disabled and says "App determines importance for each notification", so it is stuck on level 3. I have the setting "Override Do Not Disturb" enabled. Driving me crazy and have been late to work the last few days because of it SMH.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
when you go to its setting, tap on 'A' circle icon, it should then enable the slider.

I am an idiot. You are a genius. Cannot believe I didn't think to click that. Didn't even notice it was there to be honest lol. I blame it on the sender labels in gmail that serve no real purpose.
Worked like a charm though, thanks! Will test the alarm this weekend to see how it does
I actually found it by accident lol.
I had a notification that would cause an app to force close when it was set higher than the third slider. Just happened to hit it one day accidentally while adjusting.
/me shrugs.
Glad it helped you out!
Somewhat related note/question...
Has anyone on N had issues with Quick Reply specifically with Hangouts? All my other quick reply compatible apps works perfectly, but hangouts fails to send 70% of the time.

I am able to access the slider and change the settings. However, no matter which setting I apply I still have the peek notification on my screen. All of the other features of the slider work (lock screen behavior, sound, vibration, etc.). For some reason I cannot disable the peeking. At this point I am just curious if I am missing something. I can live with it as is, but just has my curiosity up. Thanks.
Press the "A" button to Edit the Importance level of Notofications. So intuitive, yet it would have taken me forever to figure this out. Thanks!

Just swipe away the apps you want to close manually and leave the desired one there, close all will close all, there's no way to change that.

You can lock the apps and prevent them from closing. In the recent apps, there is a 3 dot menu in the top right corner. Tap it and you will see the option for locking apps.

I have this same problem. Trying to find a way to lock my Tile App. Turned off my battery saver so system wont close open apps. Tried everything i could think of and that is suggested
on line. Nothing works. Tile cant even help.
How do I do what you suggest?
How do I access the recent apps? Is it through the 3 line button at bottom of sceen where it shows small pages of everything open or somewhere else?
When I look there....the individual pages don't show the 3 dots.
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Hi,
What you mean "tap on tile app"? I can not find "allow background activity". Phone is galaxy s8, android pie.
Few days back a call recorder apk sent me there and I realize this option is not deleted from android. It just hidden, like stop FB updates.

See the gif I attached
Ok problem resolved.
There is three options to be set:
1) "Sleeping aps" - go to Settings and type in search bar on top "Sleeping aps"
I Add all apk except: AutoBlutooth, Button mapper, Call recorder, Weather widget, Email and messaging apk
2) "Optimize battery usage" - go to Settings and type in search bar on top "Optimize battery usage" Click again on top row "Optimize battery usage", Click on "App not optimized" and change to "All", find apk that make problem by sleeping.
I Disable :AutoBlutooth, Button mapper, Call recorder, ect. I do not add here email and messaging apk, as they never have sleeping issues. Maybe because not have 3day(default sleep setting) not using them in a row.
3) "Allow background activity" - go to Settings==>>Apps==>>Select application you want not to sleep==>>Battery==>>Allow background activity
It will be set to Enable to all apk, that are not added to "Sleeping aps"
Additional step:
"Device admin apps" - If Application is already here, can give Admin status. It will prevent accidental change of "Optimize battery usage" and "Allow background activity"
p.s
This why my messaging apps have Enabled Allow background activity and Optimise battery usage.
Button mapper, Call recorder ect have Enabled Allow background activity and Disabled Optimise battery usage
