LineageOS 15 for the LG G5 - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

I was able to build LOS 15 successfully with a couple of repopicks (will upload them if anybody need them), and have been able to get past the manufacturer screen. I am stuck in a boot-loop though, and looking at logcat, the problem seems to be with the camera libs (I'm not sure though). If anybody wants to try the broken build, here it is:

Oh no I forgot to specify brand! It's h830

Hi Dear .. can I test this ROM on H820 device as I can see that it's for H830 device.
By the way, if there is a way to unlock the bootloader on H820, so please share us the steps.
Thanks.

First of all, you cannot try the ROM if you don't have an unlocked boot-loader. Second of all, the AT&T boot-loader is not unlockable (as far as I know), and third of all flashing a ROM for the wrong phone variant could brick your phone.

Yeah bricked mine too

Do u mind uploading repopicks ?
I'm curious if its hard to collect similar for RS988.
Tho, camera libs are probably same between those devices and high chance that behavior might be same.

The repopicks breaks the settings packages and the frameworks/base, just clone them from the LineageOS github and replace the broken directories. Also, there are a few errors that the repopicks dont fix, just post them here and I can assist you.

Did you delete the camera libs for the rom to work, as I want to get the rom to work, but don't have the time.

No I didn't delete them but the camera app was one of the things crashing along with Bluetooth and stuff so I haven't had a better look into the issues.

Very happy with this news. Trying to find out what is broken considering this is the first release.
Now I am ready to unlock BL. Any guides how to make DRM backup? Or restoring DRM etc? I heard they're lost forever.

Yep, you can't backup the DRM keys, but you won't know the difference if you follow the guide to restore DRM functions (camera etc...)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/drm-function-restore-t2995798
Note: you have to modify updater-script in the zip if you want to use with MultiROM or non-CM recovery..
They use "z3" to detect device, but actually it should be "leo"...
If someone can contact to CM team, please tell them to change it.
What are the know issues of the nightlies known so far? I know that RIL now works thanks to David_vaz, but are there any major issues or just random reboots/bugs?
No reboots whatsoever, one thing that is bothering me is I can't play YouTube in 720p & 1080p.. Other than that it's awesome.. Smooth as silk

They choose to use "z3", because Leo was codename of HTC HD2.

Hmm oh ya the luminosity issue.. It's kinda messy but it's okay for me. The home button is working very well right here.. I haven't had any issues with the navigation bar. I have the d6653 variant.. The YouTube casting works as it should..
BTW I think you should flash this Rom with cwm recovery instead of flashing it with twrp to avoid some issues

I know, but it's just a problem for managing and they can avoid it like "leo (z3)".
Also, there is no download for HTC HD2 although there is device tree for it...

They should use "leo" to detect device since it is codename for our device.
It will create futile confusion for devs.

I saw you installed the David Vaz CM build.. Does the flashing using CWM still apply? Or is it fixed with the official CM Nightlies?
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm just trying to pinpoint the problems with it before jumping the ship and rooting.. I originally planned on waiting for either the official Lollipop build from Sony, or for the Locked Bootloader exploit to come around.. but if theres a build of CM that seems to be not too many issues with, I might jump the ship

CM13 for LG-G3, test builds out already

I was sleepily clicking around last night and came across cuzz1369's AFH dump, containing Cyanogenmod13 builds for our G3 variants. Im psyched things are actively being worked on.
Heres the link..
because everyone will want to ask; flashing this, I cant boot past the optimizing dalvik screen (tried on another phone), maybe its the gapps, Im not sure. Flashing back 12 any 5.1 rom (or nandroid backup) went without a hitch.
I am not really a hardcore developer, and I hope I am not breaking any rules by sharing this information. If This post doesnt belong here please let me know, or MOD take care of it then let me know. Im just a long time lurker, getting excited, I hope this is the right place for discussion

I't works decent, sound wifi, data worked. But i couldn't use facebook, so a whole lot of FC.
Here is a build from the official cyanogenmod maintainer for the LG G3 (d855). He says the most is working but the camera and the gaaps at this time does not work. So it is an experimental Version.

Yes.
Most everything works on VS985 on the cuzz 11/9 build. Baseband is unknown, and you can't change the network type off of global, but data works fine. Messaging works but I didn't try to make a call to see if everything is good on that end. It's pretty good for a "test" build.
None of the varients are confirmed working for d851. Even his versions

There is a new LS990 build posted, downloading it now. Gonna give her a spin and see how it goes.
I got stuck at the Android is updating screen. It took about 5 minutes to get past the boot animation. I wiped Dalvic, cache, system and data. Then tried flashing the ROM only then 2 different sets of Gapps and still got stuck. Maybe I'll try again later when I have some more time.
Oh This CM13 build is work great with my D855.

[announcement] SailfishOS for the m7 (GSM variant)

\o/ yey thanks to the moderator for letting me post links!
[update 25th February: modem now semi-working! Here's a pic ]
Hi all,
I'm excited to announce the availability of the inaugural release of SailfishOS for the M7 (GSM variant).
Instructions, information and download links are available here.
The adaptation is very much a work in progress: modem and camera not yet functional being the largest of the issues but we're actively working on them and hope to have functionality in place in the coming weeks. Regarding the US variants, the Sprint version has been successfully tested but public images for this adaptation are not yet available. There is an outside chance the 'vanilla' M7 SailfishOS image will function when paired with the appropriate Cyanogenmod 11.0 release but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it and don't have a device/am in the wrong continent to test.
So if you have an M7 kicking around that you don't use as your daily or are keen to see what is going on beyond the world of Android please take this for a spin. Who knows, you might even like it.
We chat about all* of our hardware adaptations on FreeNode in the #sailfishos-porters channel if you want to drop by.
Cheers,
Steph ([email protected], @chucisteph)
* if you're interested in other devices we're currently working on over 35 hardware adaptations and are actively engaging communities for more.

Days hopefully but probably weeks. The modem is there and detected but I'm having difficulty turning it on. Once that's solved it should (hopefully!) Just Work(tm).
I am installing this rom on my HTC m7. Thank you so much. Will love to assist you people in any way possible.
Update:
Everything works perfectly except, GSM, camera and store. Have played with it for around half an hour. There is another bug with power off menu. It got stucked when i tried to do so forcing me to soft reset my mobile. And i tried adding my sim card and after the reboot it get stucked in boot loop.
Hoping to see fully working SFOS in nearest future.

Touch screen not work my device :crying:
Hi all!
Happy to say that I have managed to get some modem support working this afternoon. I'll do my best to bake an image tonight. Where we're at at the moment:
* Modem functional but currently not showing SIM status correctly in UI
* SMS sending and receiving works
* Mobile data works (and shows correctly in the UI
* Call functionality works: can make and receive calls, however call audio not currently working
These are all problems that other devices have had in the past, and they all have solutions so I am going to work as quickly as I can to get them resolved and make an image in with fixes.

That's great to hear. Once I have the modem properly working I will need help both for testing but also to enable store support (I need to send two IMEIs to Jolla so they can verify that the port works properly. Regarding your boot loop, the SIM should make no difference but I have noticed that the boot can sometimes be upset if the phone is started whilst plugged into a computer:- the GUI sometimes never comes up. I'm working on that but it only happens to me maybe 1 in 10 times so it's low down my list of priorities.

ok so sailfish is a fully blown linux distribution, means that once it's booted, even if the gui is messed up you can still SSH into it and ask it what it's doing (similar to adb shell). I just need to go RTFM how to make Windows recognise the USB network that your phone is presenting when you plug it in.

Your English is fine!
ok so your steps 1) and 2) only need to be done once:- Sailfish relies on the CM version for hardware support but once CM has been installed, when you install the SFOS zip it goes next to the CM /system and /data.
4) You're using an older SFOS image: does this one work: http://images.devaamo.fi/sfe/m7/sfe...s-m7-release-2.0.0.10-sg-rel-201602191147.zip
Out of interest, in step 3, does touch work?
No am sorry
Perhaps in a different firmware version required, because the power button works. Maybe that's enough for tonight I'll try again tomorrow. Thank you, good night

I'm assuming your mobile is a LG G2 D802
You should be able to go back to stock, I'm on a LG D802 you will find links to everything you need to do it here. Lollipop KDZ is preferred then you won't need a bootstack.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71085495&postcount=574
Lineage OS works for me, root is installed as a separate zip from the download page.
Don't take OTA updates from lineage OS until the OTA bug is fixed, do manual downloads until then
LineageOS is what I am using, it is working really well for me on D802. I didn't root it cause I have no need for it right now.

I'm not havining any issues other than battery drain when a webpage is using a lot of java script, so I now use opera to browse. I've also set most apps in privacy guard to either always ask for location or to disabled, I disable individually so if a system app really really has to have location and causes problems with the phone I know which one to enable. Battery is set to efficiency, .I've been on XDA for the last 15 mins, look at the attachment the battery life is really good, mind you I installed a new battery just before Xmas. WiFi is stable, LTE and h+ switch without problems. FM works with spiritf. You could always try open camera if snap doesn't cut it. I don't notice any major lag even on the efficiency setting.. Sound is the same as cm13 not as loud as we'd like. All in all no major problems. Until you do something I'm not of course lol

Create a backup so you can restore aicp
Update to TWRP 3.1.0-0
Clean flash latest official and gapps
Lineage doesn't have root out of the box if you want it go to the download page.at the bottom of the list of phones is 'extras' choose the arm zips one to install root one to remove it. Don't use super su.
Don't take OTA updates, the fix is still under test and not merged yet

Yep, we were meant to have a new build today but there's a problem with Jenkins and the builds have stopped.
https://jenkins.lineageos.org/job/android/
I don't know what your original stock firmware was, if it was jellybean then expect problems kit kat should be OK lollipop advised as I said earlier
If you really need a lollipop bootstack then look at the cm13 thread, I used to use Daniel Stuarts bootstack on cm13

Oreo new build

Just tried to install fresh Oreo build, guess what it didn't boot. Nazmul Hasan built it, got passed mi logo then grey screen, that's where it stayed, he's asking for someone to take logcat, any one up for it? He's on telegram now.
Just upload the logcat to hastebin

The member Ivan Nosorogov has provided the logcat. Let's see what Hassan figures out. I also get the grey screen, no animation. Flashed Oreo gapps and SuperSU, It didn't even get into SuperSU loop.

That guy has been posting Oreo (Lineage 15.x) builds to his Android File Host page since the summer. None of them boot. Their last one was a month ago, here. Spoiler - it doesn't work either.
Good on them for at least trying all the same. What's odd is that they've builds for several different ROMs (Mokee/AOKP/Paranoid Android), so I assume they must own a Mix (or did at one point), but they've never submitted any here to my knowledge. Maybe they're just playing around building ROMs, but then why upload them if they don't work, unless they don't own a Mix and they're just building/uploading for others to try.
What's much more concerning is that ~15 months into the life of this device and we're basically reduced to 2 active non-MIUI ROMs. We'll probably still have Lineage builds for a while yet since it's basically the standard for custom ROMs but how long will AICP live (which I much prefer to Lineage)? Then again, maybe once Lineage 15.1 drops and we start getting Oreo ROMs it might spark some more devs into life.

Someone on telegram has gone past the first problem, although there are plenty more to work on before a bootable ROM will be done.
What telegram group are you watching?
Here's someone who's claimed to get Oreo on the Mi Mix - en.miui.com/thread-809993-1-1.html

Yh I just saw, shame mix is such a great device I'm sure we will get there in the end thanks for the info, can anyone try and get the link to the working Oreo build, I was doing some deep reading last nite and it doesn't seem to complex to build a ROM from the step by steps on online

I'm about to start compiling a build using the latest Lineage 15.1 sources and Mix blobs. If it doesn't work I'll probably give up too. I can't imagine trying 30 builds.
The sheer time involved is enough to put anyone off (1-2 hours to fetch the repo/sync, then much the same to build for the first time). That's not even counting the hours taken to backup the entire data partition (and then copy it back) since this is going to require a wipe of that whole partition, or the fact that it ties up your PC for much of the sync/build period.
EDIT: Finally got it to build. Flashed it with GApps. Expected it to just sit at the MI.COM logo like every other build I'd flashed but it actually got past it after a minute or so. At the bit where the Lineage logo normally kicks in, the screen flashed a few times then went black. After about another minute it booted back into recovery. I actually thought it was going to work once it got past the logo, but no. Looks like it's a bust. I attached the dmesg.log from TWRP if anyone wants to take a peek.
I'd build Oreo myself if the Mix wasn't my main phone right now... I just can't afford having downtimes where I can't be reached by my coworkers or customers.
Maybe if I ever move on to a new phone I'll tackle it.
