Hi. I own LG G6 for 1 month. I wanted to connect phone to TV and watch movies like from usb drive, but its impossible because android no longer support USM. So i have to use app which requires root. Can i root my phone without unlocking bootloader? I dont want to use one-click root tools too because it may not be safe at all. Is that possible to do it that way? Or maybe i can use non-root app to emulate UMS partition? Thanks!
apart from h870 European and us997 models there is no root available in anyway at this time, but there are several ways to wirelessly connect your device to tv by using dongles if your tv supports it.

I've searched and searched but can't find anything that seems to work for my Nexus 7...
I need to just run this one command "fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0" on the 7 that's built into my truck's dashboard. I didn't root it beforehand because I didn't think I would need to. I COULD take it out of the dash to use USB ADB but that would be a huge PITA.
I'm on stock unrooted 4.2.1
-So... Is there an app for temp root so I can use wireless ADB in a terminal/ wifi ADB app?
-Is there an app for built in option (some say there is...?) to do wireless ADB without root?
-Is there an easy way to just root the 7 without USB?
-Can I change off-mode-charge 0 in any other way using just the tablet without root?
-Am I screwed without taking the truck apart and connecting the tablet via USB?
Thanks for any help!
AW: Wireless ADB without root?
You can't root without usb, because you need to unlock your bootloader to root. I guess you have to get it out there to unlock the bootloader and root

Dang, lol.
Do they not even make those "temp root" apps I've seen in the market anymore? I should have rooted it earlier... I've rooted every other phone I've had. I just didn't think I'd ever need it. :silly:
Come to think of it... how did those "temp root" apps even work if you need to unlock first?
It is possible to use adb over wifi without root, google play store: adb wireless (no root)

I have tried that and it didn't work.
Hello all,
Here is my situation:
- I have my brother's Nexus 4.
- The screen no longer responds to touch, though it still displays correctly when it is turned on.
- It has PIN security
- It is running stock KitKat 4.4.4.
- It is not rooted.
- USB Debugging (ADB) is not enabled.
- Stock recovery is installed.
- The bootloader is locked.
I would like to be able to back up the contents of the phone, but the state it is in renders that difficult. Here are the different options I've considered and discarded:
- Connect the phone via USB to copy the contents of the SD Card
# Impossible since the phone will not mount USB storage (might be a security feature since it has PIN enabled?)
- USB OTG mouse to bypass using the touchscreen
# OTG support is not available on stock kernels for the N4
- Bluetooth mouse
# No way to enable Bluetooth
- Use Android Control to control the phone via my PC
# No ADB; no way to enable ADB; unlocking bootloader to install a recovery with ADB enabled would wipe the phone.
The only option that might work that I have yet to attempt is to replace the screen. However, based on research I did while trying to troubleshoot my own Nexus 4, this could be a costly waste of time. The Nexus 4 has a history of having faulty touchscreens. Case in point, both my phone and my brother's phone suffered from this same flaw. This might be because the touchscreen controller is bad on the N4's motherboard. I junked my N4 specifically for this reason.
I'm beginning to think that there is no way for me to recover the data on this phone. Does anyone know of a way I could get the data off of it? Any way to enable ADB via Fastboot or Recovery? Any way to flash an ADB-enabled kernel via ADB sideload? Any way to unlock the bootloader without wiping all the data? Any way to run a backup of the whole phone?
Please help! Thank you in advance!
You might try towelroot to root. Then bootunlocker from the play store to unlock but you'd have to be able to use the touch screen. Long and short, you're kind of screwed

Yup, that's pretty much what I thought. I was hoping someone here could think of something I hadn't thought of yet. Basically, I think the only two avenues I have to send anything to the phone are via the Bootloader (Fastboot) or via ADB sideload in Recovery. I was hoping I could find something to save me there, but it is looking unlikely.
Sorry if this has been asked (I searched but didn't see anything) but is there an easy way to unlock the bootloader and Root / install recovery without the need for a computer? i know in the past there have been apps or flashable files that do all the heavy lifting, and I think i have seen some for pre MM, but wondering what is available now that I'm on 6.0?
Nope. You need a computer to be able to send commands to the phone via ADB and/or FASTBOOT commands.
It would be a HUGE security hole if you could run something on the phone itself, that would unlock its own bootloader and root the device. If you could do that, it would be far too easy for someone to write some kind of malware to hijack your entire device.
I think main reason for computer hookup for unlock is so that MOTO can monitor unlock devices. MXP is the only device I've owned that required putting in info thru MOTO website. Other devices such as my nexus7, OnePlus, note, didn't require this procedure. Hence, some device go have programs to unlock/root from device only.

Htc did this too. A lot of manufacturers lock the bootloader and encrypt them, so they cannot be modified or circumvented. The OEM unlock key allows the bootloader to be modified.
Just about every manufacturer encrypts their bootloader these days. The only difference is that only some manufacturers allow any kind of unlock (such as HTC and Motorola). Other companies like Samsung keep the bootloader locked, without offering users any way of unlocking them.
Any kind of development work on a Samsung phone usually requires finding some obscure security exploit (pretty rare these days), or using something like Safestrap that hijacks the boot process.
The the only companies that don't encrypt their bootloader are companies that intentionally sell a modifiable device (Nexus), or ones that don't sell to wireless carriers (e.g. OnePlus)
It's really not some kind of conspiracy to track invalid warranties. More than likely, Motorola makes you jump through some hoops as a "skill check". If someone knows how to get their hands on ADB and FASTBOOT, and use those tools, then they probably know enough not to do something stupid that can brick their phone.

Is this possible in any way? Will it be possible soon? Thanks.
The only way to root without a PC that I know of is an app like King Root. But you don't want King Root. It only works on certain phones and probably not this one because dual partitions make it much more difficult even if you have a computer. But King Root is pretty much malware. It loads adware onto your phone, sends unrestricted data to servers in China and refuses to give root access to any app that King Root considers a threat to any action that King Root wants to perform on your phone. The fact that anyone actually uses the app is unbelievable to me. There may be an auto root app that is less malicious but probably nothing that would work on this phone.

You need an unlocked bootloader.
You need a computer to unlock the bootloader.
You need a computer to flash the images.
There is no way to OEM unlock without a computer.

King Root actually works on some phones where the bootloader can't be unlocked. That was the only reason I tried that garbage app but any benefits from rooting aren't worth the problems caused by the app. If the bootloader is locked but you are rooted you can run apps that require root access like Titanium Backup (as long as King Root doesn't block root access like it does with Adaway) but you can't flash a custom kernel or custom ROM.
I have turned on USB debugging in dev. options.
I believe it is possible to root android TV with Magisk and with or without a custom recovery, depending on the method. Please see the tutorials linked below for reference:
On my PC connected to the android TV using ADB appcontrol, I can type: adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader (although I am not sure which one to use, as I am unsure on what is the best method to root my android TV simply and easily. I do not want to lose my data and I believe that is what happens when you unlock bootloader, but not if you do via custom recovery method). No.1 is the tutorial I am trying to follow, as well as secondary tutorials if the first one does not work (and if I am struggling with doing custom recovery);
2b (to be done before commencing onto no.2):
(if I am really struggling and all else fails, but I honestly think this tutorial isn't that great, as there some things like finding the firmware for the android TV I am REALLY struggling to find!! I know it's version though - it is 9.0):
