Fluctuating LTE signals on Band 5 (850 MHz) - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I have a SGS 8 SM-G950FD.
a few days ago, I noticed that the LTE signals on my phone were fluctuating a lot between 1 - 3 bars and then suddenly reverting to H+ and staying there.
At first, I though it's just network issue. however, days after, the issue still persists.
The said issue appears on Telenor Pak Band 5 (850MHz) LTE. It happens whether the phone is indoors or outdoors. Same sim on other phones works good with LTE.
However, I tried to use LTE SIM of another network (Band 3 1800 MHZ) and that is working flawlessly.
Tried factory data reset, reflashing stock firmware. Na da .
Any help would be appreciated.

It's issue with lower band frequency 850 and 900
I rolled back to April firmware to get network band locking but still it was the same.... Need to visit Samsung center or warranty provider

[Q] D802 Not connecting network

My new LG G2 D802 seems to only want to conect to GSM, if I have it set to any other setting like GSM/Wcda auto, or LTE etc it wont even connect to GSM let alone the other networks? To be clear i can use the phone set to GSM, but not when set to the other settings, just keeps searching for network
I am in New Zealand on Vodafone network which is
2G - 900/ 1800 MHz GSM, GPRS
3G - 900/ 2100 MHz UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA+
4G - 1800 MHz LTE
so I think the phone should connect shouldnt it? I am in 3G/WCDA coverage (not in 4g currently to try)
Any ideas?
the phone is stock rom, rooted, Xposed etc, Kitkat 4.4.2
Thanks
Edit, I just clicked network operators and searched and it came up with Vodafone Gsm which i have selected. So i take it my phone cant see a 3g network?
I think I have solved it. I went into the hidden menu and changed the modem settings to my carriers frequency instead of auto. So fingers crossed. II havedone a reboot and it is still working too.
So I had 3g for the day or so and then its gone again, I tried my wifes sim card which is on a different network and seemed to work, so i will get a new sim card for myself and hopefully be ok. my current sim card works ok in her phone, it just struggles to find 3g in mine for some reason.
Got a new sim card now but it still struggle to find 3g maybe because I'm not in a main town centre but I should still have service here as I am in there coverage area and my wife gets coverage on her phone
Tried updating to lollipop but problemremains. It is disconnecting maybe because of poor 3g reception but then struggles to connect to 2g again. Only solution to have working phone is ro have it set on gsm only all the time. Not good

Meizu MX5 no 4G network capabilities

Hello,
I have been using my Meizu MX5 for about two months now without the 4G network working. I have recently updated to the latest firmware and I am currently running Flyme OS 4.5.2.7A and that has not solved any issues either.
I have checked that the phone settings are configured properly.
Network Mode is set to "4G First".
The phone is pending between, H-, H and H+ connection (3G I believe?)
I have checked with my provider and these are the following frequencies which should be providing 4G in my country (Sweden) for the provider:
800Mhz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz
Other providers have the same frequencies as well.
I have also gotten two new SIM-Cards during this period of time without it solving any issues. I have tried the SIM cards in some other phones and they get 4G connection without any issues.
I have been in contact with Meizu customer support in China and after some random troubleshooting of factory resetting and reinstalling the same firmware on the phone without solving anything.
They have also provided me information regarding the different bands/frequencies which the phone operates on:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz)
WCDMA/HSPA+: Band 1/2/8 (900/2100MHz)
FDD LTE: Band 1/3 (1800/2100MHz)
TD-SCDMA: Band 34/39 (no freqency specified)
TD-LTE: Band 38/39/40/41 (no frequency specified)
I am not 100% sure on how this works but according to the information I am given, the phone and my provider share at least one frequency for the 4G network and therefore I do not understand why it is not working.
I am sure that it is software related and thus I won't send my phone back to China (4-8 weeks delivery time and all expenses has to be paid by me) for them to troubleshoot.
Anyone here who has knowledge which could give me an answer?
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi mate.
I had this problem but upgraded to new firmware late last night and it came on. Thankfully!
Give it a try
Hi,
I have checked the upgrade app on the phone and it says I have the latest firmware.
Which firmware version are you running?
Kind regards,
Martin
Maybe it is an APN related problem. Look if you have the same data as in the other phones that 4G works

Hi iicc,
Thank you for the reply.
I have checked the APN settings about four-five times and I can't find any inconsistencies. I have even crosschecked it with a support technician from my provider.
The only things I can think of is either my anntenna being gimped, that the firmware is not properly developed or that somehow there's trash in my system and that my phone maybe needs a complete wipe and reinstallation.
After the upgrade to firmware 4.5.2.7A the phone does not even hint on trying to connect to 4G. Pre-upgrade it atleast connected to 4G for about 5 seconds and then went down to 3G.
Kind regards,
Martin

And have you tried to factory data reset the phone?

Let me try to come up with something that might be your problem. If you are using 3 as your mobile provider then they use FDD-LTE band 7 & 20 none of which are supported by the MX5 and 3 are also using TDD-LTE band 38 which is supported by the MX5, but might not be available in your area.
If you are on Net4Mobility then they use FDD-LTE 3,7,8 & 20 of which only 3 is supported, so it could that in your area there is no coverage with band 3.
If you are on Telia, the story is pretty much the same as Net4Mobility as they use FDD-LTE 3,7 & 20.
In order to get more from your phone. You can open up google and search for 'meizifan eu' and go to the website. They have a pretty good description of how you install the international version of FlyMe on your MX5, the international version is called 4.5.2.7i. I believe it activates some other FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE bands.
1800Mhz band is a short range, higher bandwidth frequency which usually is less common and given that it has a short range it most likely isn't available in your area.

Thank you for the reply nasty_suicide!
I am using Comviq Tele2 as provider, which should use the Telia net.
This is what I believe as well, but I really thought there was no way to flash the international version onto the phone and was about to abandon ship by buying a new phone yet again.
I will try to install the International version as soon as I have time to follow through the steps. I have found the guide on Meizufans.
Once I have installed the international version I'll let everyone know the outcome.
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi Hawdes,
I've exactly the same problem as you do, please post back once you instal I version. I was planning to do so but since I already have everything installed I didn't want to go through trouble for nothing.
What were the results of this? Is it true that firmware can affect the signal received?
upgraded to the latest firmware yet?
Samsung galaxy s7 4G problem
What about in Samsung galaxy s7 version of Flyme OS?? I cannot see 4G option.

Problem with 1900 Mhz Band (GSM and UMTS)

I recently own a X829 variant with 16S stock rom. Use dual sim feature and this is all I can get in data usage (voice works ok do):
SIM 1: 4G 2600 mhz OK, 3G and 2G 1900 mhz NOT WORKING
SIM 2: 4G 2600 mhz OK, 3G and 2G 850 mhz OK
The phone detects 1900 mhz band (either 2G or 3G) and I can use it for calls, but it cannot use it for data. I want to use the data plan of SIM 1 because I have much better data plan.
If 1900 mhz were not supported (Information says it is), even voice call wouldnt work, right?
Maybe I will need a unlock band feature provided by this user?: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-unlock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154
Best regards to all
Your using T-Mobile in the states? ( location and available bands might be a factor)
Sounds like maybe just a settings issue. If you remove one sim, can you connect to these bands?
I'm using at&t in the states and specifically use one sim for data, and second for calls/texts, but can only use ONE at 4g at a time.... Can't have both at LTE connection.
I'm afraid not, I'm from Chile so I'm using local providers:
SIM1: Entel
SIM2: Movistar
I already test switching SIMs trays, I know I cannot use tray 2 for 4G/data. but it's funny I can only use 4G in both SIMCards in tray 1, but not 3G/2G in Entel carrier.
So If I use SIM1 in tray 1 only I get 4G, wich is good, but as I move far from city and 4G is not available, it will switch to 3G/2G (it appears in phone tray) and data will not be available anymore.
Install official Chinese s23. From the official leeco page. That will upgrade radio firmware and fingerprint firmware, from there, then you can flash any other custom ROM or stay with s23. Which is stable and good. Also full date wipe is recommended.

I'm not familiar with those carriers, but google says all those bands should be supported. My only other suggestion would be to upgrade the firmware like already suggested.
16s on x829 was made for the states, not sure if that's what's holding you back,
Remember to backup, save your data and modem files.
Ok, so I tried Indian 16s, and a (slighthy) moddified chinese 23s without success, same issue: can call in 2G/3G 1900 Mhz Band but data doesnt work in that band.

LTE band troubles

So I'm in Canada on Koodo (Telus) in Toronto. I'm flashed to the Generic LAM firmware to get the fingerprint reader, and rooted with Magisk Hide. On my old Nexus 5, I usually connected to LTE on Band 2 (1900) or Band 4 (AWS). They share a network with Bell including Band 17 (700B) but since it's a pretty narrow band the signal usually went to the stronger 2 or 4 instead.
I can tell what band my X Compact is on by way of the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) which shows the EARFCN number on the bottom of Phone Information, and then you can convert that to frequency here: http://niviuk.free.fr/lte_band.php
So based on that, I can see inside my basement apartment (where the N5 usually got decent LTE) that it's bouncing around between bands 2/4/17 but none of them are particularly strong. Today I was inside a pub where it stubbornly clung onto B17 and got nearly no data flow, and I had to force it over to (very strong) HSPA+ in order to get any data actually flowing.
I'm just wondering, is there anything I can do to tell my device to prefer strong HSPA over very weak LTE, without totally disabling LTE? I don't want to have to keep toggling it manually to get data working well.

Problem with b20 (800mhz). Modem? Bug in miui 11 & 12? Help please!

Hi, from some days ago, i have a lot of problems with 800mhz lte band in Spain with Movistar provider.
when I connect with B20 band to the lte service, I only get speeds of 4-5 Mbps, whereas in other bands (1800 and 2600) I have speeds higher than 100Mbps.
I thought it was a problem with coverage or with my provider (Movistar Spain), but I have tried several Xiaomi (2 rn7, 1 rn9, 1 rn8t) and the same thing happens in ALL. But it does not happen in other devices (huawei, samsung)
I think there may be a moden bug in miui 11, but I'm not an expert on these issues, let's see if someone could help me.
I need a solution, since I use my phone and 4g access to work
Can anybody help me? Is there a way to "block" the b20 band to see if I can catch the b3 by default even though it has worse coverage? Can the modem be reinstalled? Does miui have any problem with the modem in these bands?
sorry for my english
thanks
