According to above app the battery capacity diminishes with each charging cycle, on my new essential.
Usually the same app gets the capacity right from very first charge, could it be it needs more cycles? Or is there something else?View attachment 4359675

It took a while for my LG G6 to get accurate information.
Now it reads 100%

Use it...... Charge it often... try not to discharge the battery to zero. Calibration is not needed... This is a newer phone with new battery technology.

thanks I thought to calibrate it you had to discharge it fully then recharge

Yeah just use it like normal. Don't worry about the battery bar too much.
Calibration is a myth
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
It is a good idea to charge for solid 8 hours and discharge to around 10% the first 2-3 cycles of the battery to condition it. But after that, use as you please, no memory effect or calibration or the like.
Only thing I would add, do not drain completely flat (0%) as it can negatively effect battery capacity, tho modern batteries usually have guards to prevent full discharge, for that reason
Calibration (full discharge) was for Ni-MH battery technology, and is actually a bad thing to do with Li-Ion/Li-Pol batteries

There is no memory effect any more. Just avoid killing the battery fully or leaving it charged for extended sessions, because the heat hurts the battery.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The thing about discharging to zero damaging the battery is another myth. The phone will report the battery at zero well before it reaches the "real zero". So there's an inbuilt safety margin that means you don't have to worry.

One of the strangest charging profile I've seen.
That is weird. Miscalibrated battery, maybe? Try a full discharge, then recharge.

I'd never recommend a full discharge for an li-ion battery

It's not recommended to do often, but discharging has been known to solve issues with improper calibration.
Besides, you can't tell me you've never used your shiny Nexus 4 to 0% before ;P

Did you restart your phone while it was charging? I've seen strange dips and spikes in the battery graph on my Nexus S when rebooting while its charging. I haven't seen anything like your graph on my N4 yet but I don't check the graph much plus I've only had the phone about a week and a half.
Hello
Long time Hero user who switched to blackberry and now back to android. I've had note 2 for 3 months now and I'm actually disappointed from its battery level. Not that its not enough. .it just didnt live up to its expectations
Through constant whatsapp messaging only (today) 40% drained in 7-8 hours. . I know its a long time but shouldn't it last longer or is 3g that much of a battery usage?
Also does charging with a 2a non official charger might affect my battery? And with the time frames I have available for charging I can never get a full charge. .does that matter?
And is pile stocking on applications and games affecting my battery? Even if they are not open? (Currently using go power master for that)

Show some screen shots of the battery graph. I was just wondering what was your screen time to get a better idea.

You can click on that little chart to see a more detailed view of your battery consumption. Your battery life is a bit on the short side (compared to mine at least), Im guessing the screen is the culprit. Do you have brightness all the way down? How much screen time does the phone get?
@Shei77
For me is battery consumption pretty fine. It depends of course what I am doing with the phone through the day. For example yesterday after whole day "playing" with phone from time to time I had around 70%. I am chargin it when I go to sleep because still if I have in the morning 30-50% it wont make it through day when I dont have option to charge it. Just to add, I have Wifi and GPS always on.
If constant messaging for 7-8 hours means the screen being on for 7ish hours, you have ridiculously good battery life at 40 percent..

Nah.. its sending a message every 4-5 minutes average..

I'd say your battery life is fine, im guessing maybe even better than mine. Im doing 6h 37m right now with 69% left, H+/3G always on, with moderate screen time and a bit of gaming.
Huh..what about charging?
Also any tips for extending? Ram keeps filling up after some time..is it cause I have a lot of applications?

As shown from your screenshot your phone signals are really bad. That might be contributing to the drain of the battery.
I think your battery life is fine :good: Usually with my note 2 i can do 4 display hours and 1 day or more of battery life. 3g/h+ always on, lumi 50% all sync on, calls, gaming and web.
This is the current on screen which is a few hours after the first screenshots
What can I do about signals? And if I have a lot of apps do they consume battery through background?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Really, your battery life isn't that bad. The 7 or so screen time hours you'll get if that continues, is pretty good!
And to your other questions, charger type doesn't affect battery performance. Charging time should take around 2,5 hours from 0 to 100, if you're far away from that, the charger might be at fault.

Charging usually takes 3 hours for a full charge and according to my charging current its using 1698mah

I updated it just a couple of days ago I need an expert opinion on how good my battery's time is.
^No offence, but without screen on time a battery stats is just meaningless!
So kindly post your 'Screen on' time.
@shei77: You're on H+ and you're having almost three hours screen on time, with 60 odd percent left. That is very good battery life.
'Swyped' from my GT-N7100
Maybe a bit OT, but what I have noticed is that when the phone reports fully charged, Elixir widget still displays 1600mA being charged into the device? Also, when the battery is full at 100%, the phone is still pretty warm! I don;t remember my HTC did that? It was warm, but when it reached 100% it cooled down and was not hot anymore... I tend to keep phone in charger in the evening because I use wifi hotspot....
My battery life is awesome I'm on cm 10.1 rom with uneak kernel, cm 10.1 is smooth and great performance and great on battery life,
I have attached a screen shot of battery stats...

What is the vest way to charge / calibrate the battery to get the most hours out of it?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
By and large, battery calibration is a myth when it comes to lithium polymer. Every now and again, an end user can run their battery through one full cycle to reset the battery's flags, but that won't have any effect on battery life.
Lithium based batteries do not benefit from any sort of priming prior to first use.

Hey, can someone explain me this?
I charged my phone to atleast 24% begore i went to bed cause last time i tested battery when i sleep, the battery dropped 20% in 10 hours, but now i charged it to 24% and when i woke up today it had slowly increased to 32%... what the heck? Can someone explain this to me?

wrong sub section but in answer, my s2 done that all the time almost after flashing a rom.
could start off at 100%, flash a rom and itd be at say 25% then start building up again toward its correct %. no biggy, its kinda normal :good:
Wrong section to post this but this problem also happens on my s2, it is something wrong with the fuel gauge. Just do regular charging and discharging and it should return to normal.

Your battery has a problem. Cause of overcharging.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
If you've flashed a new rom, often the history of battery values and voltages get messed up. So its not really sure what percentage of battery is left when the battery is at X volts for example. Usually a complete discharge followed by a full charge should recalibrate the battery monitoring.

Try a few complete charge cycles. Hopefully it should fix itself coz its not really uncommon.
you should download battery calibration app
