You are asking in the wrong place. The SM-T377A is a Tab E and not a Tab A. Try asking here.

I got a galaxy s4 (i9505) and I want to root it. I read online that it has to be factory unlocked if I want to root and it can't be locked to a specific network. Is this true? Or can I go ahead with it?
Any help is appreciated.

Root works on both a carrier locked and unlocked S4. The bootloader is unlocked except for the US AT&T and Verizon (i think, not 100% sure for Verizon) version. Download CF Auto Root from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803 and flash the .md5 file with Odin 3.04 in PDA.

Go ahead and root it. Being locked to a specific carrier has nothing to do with rooting.
When dialog fails, it's time for violence.
Thanks very much for your help guys.

Trying another simcard is the easiest way to check it, or look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683.
Just wondering if the T-Mobile TWRP I found for the note 3 will work on the Verizon Note 3.
I don't want to mess anything up...
Hope to be able to get this soon...
Thanks
To answer your question, No.
We need a bootstrapped recovery. It'll probably be a while before that happens

Nope...we don't have an unlock bootloader. Also, add a question mark to your subject line so it doesn't look like we have recovery. Thanks.

Wrong forum, the G900F is the International variant and this forum is for SM-G900V, the Verizon variant.
You want this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help

yes, but i have a g900v from Verizon and i am in europe
Sorry, why buy an SM-G900V when what you likely need is an SM-G900F?

because I ran out cellphone in the states and a family member gave me without knowing that there were differences between these two.
and I would not say, no thanks, especially when we were going off to the airport

So you're asking if you can flash the SM-G900F stock rom on a SM-G900V? Before even answering that question you would need un unlocked bootloader which is less than likely. And even if you had one, what you propose would more than likely result in a brick.

Fair enough. You may have to wait for root to be able to modify then. Sorry for the inconvenience.

but it is possible since the bootloader is unlocked, right?
I do not think wrong?
as long i get rooted the cellphone the chances of brick the phone are minor?

Verizon Bootloaders are NOT unlocked... I don't know where you found that, but Verizon has not offered these phones unlocked to my knowledge.

Hey guys... I have an S7 edge duos and I want to switch to Verizon but my phone isn't compatible... so I was thinking about selling it and getting the US unlocked version (SM-G935U). Is there a root for this phone? I'm thinking kingroot might work but I haven't found any posts via google search to confirm. Thanks ahead of time.
There is using a engineering kernel, but it give bad battery life and performance.

Hi !
I'm a Canadian that bought an "USA Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U)". I love it, but I'm confused about a thing : Why is there a folder called "Verizon" ? If my phone is really unlocked, it should not have Verizon applications on it, right ? And the "region" of the phone is VZW (Verizon Wireless)... Is it normal ?
But, I read that Verizon locked phone are "SM-G950V", not "SM-G950U" and have a "Verizon" writing on the back... Could anyone enlighten me ? Thank !
Verizon phones are unlocked, and support both CDMA and GSM. It is possible that the phone was originally a Verizon phone, but it is still completely unlocked. I wouldn't worry about it
Oh great ! But, is it possible to delete the Verizon applications ? Because I don't need them
