My wife has a Moto G5 Plus which we are using on our new T-Mobile account. Since we've made the switch, she's having intermittent problems sending text messages. Either her phone says they're sent but the other party doesn't receive them, or her phone says there is an error. This happens with both Android Messages and Textra. We've restored the phone, edited the APN settings, turning off wifi calling, and tried everything else we can think of doing. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
I'm on a Moto X Pure, and besides occasionally missing her messages specifically, I've only had 1 issue where a picture message from a friend came 3 days later.

Does her APN have same settings as below:
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
if it does then maybe issue with phone....dunno
As of this morning, yes. Except instead of IPv6 or ipv4 both of them have ipv4 / IPv6. I was told this was okay by the T-Mobile rep I spoke with yesterday.

yeah IP would be more for data if i am correct.
that is weird then, have you rooted/installed custom rom? if not maybe give that a try
We haven't rooted or done a custom rom. My wife won't let me. We just made the APN changes again this morning adding the MMS type to it. We're going to see how that fares for us over the next week or two.

hahaha - yeah I would say if nothing else works just root / custom rom to rule that out. Maybe new sim card......no ideas left sry
btw - no harm will come from root unlock bootloader as you can reverse them if needed.
Good Luck

I sure hope you guys can help me get the data up and running on my new dvp that I purchased unlocked from newegg.
This phone is approved on simple mobile's website, they even provide the programming steps to get the data functioning properly. This is where things have gone astray. When I dial the ##634# I'm taken to a EM screen that displays the following information:
Phone Information
System Information
RD Test
CIT
Protocol
Service Center
According to simple mobile's programming guide I should be able to access both mms settings and data settings for proper configuration... neither are accessible from this screen.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? I spoke with simple mobile and they had no solutions, Dell was of no help as well. What do I need to do to access the mms and apn settings on my phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Your system should be updated least to Mango to change settings. Default SHIP version 7004 doesnt include operator settings only default T_mobile.
Sorry, I failed to mention that I updated the phone to windows 7.5 mango and I'm still seeing the same screen. I found a youtube video showing the screen I get to when entering ##634# but I don't have enough posts to display the link. Just search dvp matrix screen on youtube and it's the first video that comes up.
If you haven't already, you must long-press the EM application and uninstall. At that point, redial the ##634# number, and the latest version will be installed onto the device. The difference (I suspect) you'll immediately see is a new splash image of a wine glass being fancy on a table. After that, you will be greeted with significantly less options; including MMS settings.
That was the trouble I had to go through before I could get mine set up properly. I've managed to get everything working, including MMS. The issue is that I swear Simple Mobile caps data speed, which wouldn't surprise me too much. Otherwise it functions as it should. Even if WP7 doesn't really know how to treat the physical keyboard. That's one of my biggest issues with it.

StraightTalk Tmobile sim
FYI I have my Dell Venue Pro now working on a StraightTalk T-Mobile sim getting 3G symbol top left. MMS is working too. I have the EM application with the MMS section and inputted the settings that came with the sim card.
It be interesting to what the difference between StraightTalk and Simple Mobile is. I'm getting in the bandwidth S app test around 3 meg down and 1.5 up when I did it last night.

WOW... I was contemplating switching to StraightTalk... currently on Simple Mobile $60 plan and the $15 savings is reason enough to switch. Hopefully you can give us an update in a couple of weeks... thanks!

Let me know what kind of update you looking for.
I came from a Nokia 5800 phone on AT&T with the non-smartphone data plan ($15) + 39.99 for voice no Texting since I had email. May data usage was around 2 gig go 2.2 at most one month. Probably because I set up the phone for wifi for home and couple other places.
I really like window phone 7.5 but not the experience I had with it when I tried out the HTC Titan earlier this year with the call audio quality issues and random power cycles. I almost went to contract with that phone thank god I didn't because I didn't want the hardware issues for two years.
Then I came across Dell Venue Pro even though its a year old the Phone basically works except for Compass. Call audio quality is night and day compared with Titan. Then I saw StraightTalk offering BYOP sim program. And that brings me to now. I still use Wifi whenever possible. Don't expect truly unlimited data though because it seems with a ST AT&T sim you really get around 2 or 3 gig before getting notified is some cases. With the ST TMobile simm noone know exactly the cut off. Go easy on data use Wifi when ever possible is my advice so that when you need data on the road you have it.
You don't need the EM app, all you need is the Connection Settings app
Nokia Lumia 800 simple mobile
This post really helped me. I was able to change my browser APN when i typed ##634# number and got web working
androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html error was fixed!!

Isn't Connection Settings an HTC thing?
So since I originally posted the MMS info I've sold my Venue Pro. ...But then I missed it a lot and got another, haha. I would have never guessed it, but "past" me has helped "present" me with the settings. Still a bit wonky, however. I've noticed that MMS refuses to work with WiFi on. Is that kind of a standard thing?

So while I wait for AT&T level 3 support to look into this and get back to me, thought I would see if anyone else has seen this issue. I had my original S4 stock rooted since it came out and never had an issue. Night before I was traveling it starts rebooting randomly and when I wake up the next morning it was dead. I was sent a refurb S4 (MF3) and again rooted it, did my usual Titanium freeze of same bloat as previous phone. Things were fine for a week and then I found out I could no longer send or receive MMS. I get an error that it is expired or not available. Spent a few hours on the phone with support, they had me change sim card (I just used my sim with replacement phone instead of the one they sent with it.) That did not fix it. If I power the phone off and back on I can usually get 1 MMS before it fails again. Did a factory reset, it worked for a few test MMS they sent and then stopped working. So they sent another refurb phone. I get it yesterday (MF3 again lucky me) and root it, didn't freeze anything and test it. Everything is working good for a few hours, sent and received like 20 pics to verify it. Then after a few hours, I can no longer send/receive them again. Internet/data works fine on the phone when the MMS issues happen. The MMS issue occurs whether sending or receiving from/to all 4 main US providers so it's not provider specific either.
APN is the default. They say my account is fine. The other 2 phones (S4 and S3 both not rooted) on my account work fine, though they are in a different state than I am. I tested while I was out running errands to make sure it wasn't a tower issue. Tech support provisioned my phone again several times. At this point I am out of ideas. Multiple sim cards and phones and the same issue. Doesn't make sense to me that power cycling or factory reset usually fixes it for a few minutes to an hour and then it stops again. So far they haven't made me go to a service center. Have a feeling if I go there they will try and blame it on being rooted when that isn't the issue.
Any ideas of what else I can try while I wait?

Well it's certainly good you've troubleshooted many different possibilities. Sounds odd to me under the circumstances that the issue persists. I assume you have tried different content when testing these MMs? (i.e. not sending the same picture or message, but different variations or pictures)?
It makes no viable sense why this would be occurring especially based on all of your testing. Does this issue occur only on cellular connection and/or wifi?
Bad SIM card?

Well, i'm certainly intrigued to know how you fix it. Keep us updated.
So I am still waiting on AT&T to actually do something to resolve this. They claim level 3 is looking into it and claim they can't update my case to have level 3 support call me. In the meantime it looks like I have found a workaround to resolve my issue. Currently my phone has the default phone APN. I added a 2nd APN with the following values:
Name: Cingular MMS
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: mms
I saved it and so far I have been able to send/receive MMS again for the last 11 hours. That is the longest it has worked since I started having issues. Now if level 3 support ever calls me I can tell them what I did so they can try and figure out why the normal APN is not working for me.
I had quite similar issues sending and receiving MMS messages this week, turned out to be Adblock Plus stopping pictures from being sent/received through port 80. Disabled Adblock temporarily, and MMS worked perfectly. Perhaps you are in the same boat? Or maybe another application blocking the ports? Complete shot in the dark here, as I am a very new owner of the S4.

I do (well did) have Adblock Plus installed. Just deleted my workaround APN and uninstalled Adblock Plus for now to test. So far it works, but I will give it a few hours to test some more.
Thanks
Checked out the forums for adblock plus and there are reports of this issue going back to November 2012. Looks like this was definitely my issue.
adblock causes problems on port 80 for MMS, your provider should have a few ports to chose from. Mine being with Rogers, i chose port 8080 in APN settings.
This fixed my issue permanently.
(Rogers had replaced the phone twice thinking it was a hardware issue)
So I ported my number from Google Voice to Net10 and grabbed an AT&T micro SIM for my Nexus 4, everything seems to be working fine (voice, text, data, and sending MMS messages) except I can't receive MMS messages no matter what I try... I have tried tons of combinations of APN settings and nothing seemed to work, This seemed like a common issue that most people could get around with Handcent or GoSMS so I tried Handcent and about every possible combination of manual MMS settings in the app I could find, still can't download MMS messages. If anyone has any insight here, that would be great.
On the other hand, I stopped and talked to a salesperson at the AT&T corporate store here, he is pretty sure everything would work properly if I got a micro SIM for Go Phone and used the $60/month unlimited talk/text and 2GB data plan. Anybody tried this and have any issues?
EDIT: So after messing with NET10 tech support for almost 4 hours off and on, speaking to two technicians and a "supervisor", I was told my APN settings were correct, my account was rebuilt twice (or so they said, they had me reboot twice as I did lose all connectivity twice), I could not get MMS receive to work, and they never once strayed from the APN settings on their website (New AT&T) because they said my SIM was too new and not compatible with the old settings, except that with my device I need the APN type field of default, supl, mms to work properly. There final answer was my device was not compatible with their MMS service... Here is the final email I got:

Hello so I've installed the hyper drive rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520418
Rom works beautifully and I love it. Only problem is it isn't staying connected to the network. If I go to network settings and hit choose automatically it connects and work's. Also if I'm on it for a minute or so it will connect by its self but if I just unlock the phone there's not network there. I can't figure out why thus us happening like this.
I wiped, wiped cache, wiped Dav cache then installed as instructions stated. Also installed the TWO as I'm on bell
Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem. I flashed RL15, ATT comp, then modules. Everything seemed to be woking fine, but I can't connect to the internet over mobile data. Also, the mobile network comes in and out, and although I can send texts and and make calls, I can't receive either. MY GPS is working fine. I checked the APN settings, and it matches what I thought its suppose to. I can't figure it out. Maybe these issues are related... Love the ROM and really hope I can figure it out so I can continue to use it.
I also really like HD15. And I also had a ton of trouble getting it to settle down and be stable. Like you, I posted some questions. I recieved some tips and some questions never received a reply. My issues were with email mainly and a disappearing account. I tried Stock slot, slot-1 for me no difference--in fact I run it out of slot-1 as my daily driver--go figure? I installed it there by accident and it's worked every since.
Back to your problem. Unfortunately, I do not have a magic bullet. I'll just list a few things I did. 1. Be careful about debloating this one. 2. I stopped installing the add-on "S-Note" It seems everthing would be fine then I'd install that and BAM! 3. Watch what apps install to system/app. 4. And this one (I'm guessing) is really important: after a clean wipe and reboot let that thing set there for a long while! I waited at least 20 minutes! before you even breath on it!
Finally, APN Settings (remember to save) AT&T Phone, phone, http://mmsc.mobile.att.net, proxy.mobile.att.net, 80, default, mms, supl, hipri (SAVE) then delete all others.
Choose Network Mode> GSM/WCDMA/LTE (auto connect). Next, check Airplane Mode box--wait a minute then uncheck. Goto: More》About Phone》Status: check type and mobile network state (should be LTE and connected respectively) note: make sure wi-fi is off.
I hope it works. Let me know if you need clarification.
oh yeah, I'd really read up on NB1 kit kat before I took the plunge--especially with no root yet

So I was dumb and used the wrong APN settings. Finally got it working and its awesome. Thanks.
I think I am just going to wait on the NB1 until a root is available. I like being able to keep my stock rom slot unmolested for now until I get more savvy in the ways of The Root. I still have not tried anything with ODIN, so until I get the courage to go that far, I am going to stick with safestrap.

Really glad I could help--I've been on the receiving end of help more times than I can count! LOL. BTW, I think you're waiting is a smart choice--with SS and a bunch of good guys (ROM dev, etc...) on xda we're doing pretty good right now. I would read up on Odin before you need it. Make sure to know about the different versions. It is a really, really great tool to have in your box. And if you're not scared bad becuase your phone is bricked it's really pretty simple. Have a good one...

essentially the problem is that the phone dosent auto connect to the network for my to send messages make calls or use data, if i toggle airplane mode or tell it to automatic search for a network it connects and works fine, till it gose into standby then when it comes out its lost the connection again, the strangest thing is i still get text and phone calls normally.

OK. bell is a different animal. I remember someone having a similar or maybe the same problem. It was a while ago. I'll try to find it. But I might be in the dark on Bell stuff. Just for the heck of it add hipri to "type" and choose the auto connect option that includes all three (i.e. includes LTE).
I read a little about this--again, awhile ago it might have an effect as I believe it has to do with priority.
I tried that with no effect good suggestion though. It has

Bump for help please
Hi all,
I need help getting my APN to save. I use Cricket Wireless and their APN settings are here: http://buzzmobile.us/cricket-apn-settings/
The problem is the MNC is 004 for Cricket, but changing the MNC to that makes the APN not save. I tried adding the APN line by line to see which setting made the APN disappear, and it's MNC. I've had this problem now on Mahdi 5/28, Mahdi 6/15, and now Paranoid Android RC2. My phone is the D801.
It does seem to sometimes work if I change the MNC. The APN will disappear from the list every time, but sometimes it will set the APN correctly and give me LTE, but only until I reboot the phone and then it's back to not working. This morning it doesn't appear to be working even if I re-enter the APN, though.
Why does this problem exist on multiple ROMs (saving APN settings seems like REALLY basic functionality to me) and how do I fix it? And why do I see several search results saying "don't change MCC or MNC" when clearly that is incorrect advice? If Cricket says MNC is 004 and some random forum people say Cricket is wrong, well... sorry, but Cricket would know better than you guys (those who say to not change it).
Thanks
EDIT: I //THOUGHT I// FOUND A SOLUTION! Instead of APN type "internet" I decided to try "internet, default" and immediately LTE came on. I don't understand why it worked without setting MNC when I changed this, but hey, it worked and I am happy at the moment. However, it would still be nice to see devs fix the MNC problem. I'd delete this thread but I see no option to do so. Mods can delete it if they feel like it. Or they can leave it up in case someone else has the same problem and wants to try the potential workaround of adding the ",default" to APN type. I'd still like to change the MNC to what Cricket says to use, though, because they wouldn't tell us to change it if it didn't do anything.
EDIT 2: Workaround doesn't seem to work. I get a proxy failed error. It says LTE but nothing seems to be able to use it. I think I need the MNC changed after all. Is there any developer who has this working right? It's really frustrating to go through multiple ROMs/versions only for incredibly basic functionality to not work.
Edit 3: USB tethering seems to work, but nothing on the phone itself. Weird! AAAND now I took the ",default" back out and LTE seems to be there again. Testing the phone now. I wonder if there was some sort of data outage in my area earlier that was causing issues. And I just rebooted the phone and now LTE is gone again (and I made sure the APN was selected)... This is seriously messed up. My phone is behaving extremely inconsistently and I want to throw it at a wall at full strength at the moment.

Android reads the MNC from the SIM. APNs with MNCs that are different than the SIM's will be hidden. Unless you are using your G2 on the legacy Cricket CDMA network you should be using the settings on the Cricket website https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...ice-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html

Huh. I wonder why I didn't see that link when I was Googling for the settings. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the link.
Odd thing is it's worked on and off with the old settings, including setting the MNC to 004 (even though it did make the entry disappear). I don't understand it. I guess it doesn't matter, though, if these other settings work. Inconsistency is the most frustrating thing, because it's not obvious that your settings are wrong if they work sometimes but not others...
Edit: I can confirm the settings from that link are working... for the moment. I absolutely would not be surprised if it just randomly stops working again in the next 24h. Maybe I'll get a different phone when that happens.
I did live chat with Cricket Wireless and asked them to make sure the link you gave comes up for the search I did which was "cricket wireless apn settings android". Hopefully they will listen to my feedback so nobody else gets caught in this trap. Anyway, thanks again.
It would also be nice if Android would tell you why it's hiding an APN you just added... I wonder if devs could add an informative text about that.
