I'm having a big problem with the camera app.
It appears that when I open, the camera automatically starts and tries to take pictures (by focusing) and then going black, and then coming back up to the camera viewfinder screen, then black, then viewfinder, then black, etc forever. It's as if the camera app opens, closes, opens, closes, again and again.
Both the rear and front camera have this problem...
The camera app used to work just fine.
When I try to use Google Goggles, it lags the camera terribly, and that's when it started (after using Goggles today). I uninstalled Goggles, but the camera is still messed up.
I use the camera in other apps just fine, like the Yelp Monocle, Camcorder and Qik, and they are still working fine, even if the camera app is broken.
I have tried Clear Data from the camera app, rebooting, battery pulling. I'm on my last resort, factory reset!
can we get some info about your phone... rooted? rom? ect...
Bone stock.
well with that note i dont have a clue... the first time i turned my phone on i rooted it and never looked back!
i would power off, and volume down and power to get to h boot and factory reset...
So apparently the problem has to do with Geo-tagging, or anytime the GPS is in use with the camera in a picture taking capability.
I have turned geo-tagging off and the camera app is seeming to work...
i am glad you figured it out bro! sorry i wasnt any more help though...
just flashed the gingersense rom and omfg this is NICE, just sayin... maybe you might want to come to the DARK SIDE and root, lol
Hi all,
I've dropped my Nexus 4 into water for a second, and few months later it still works fine - except the rear camera. It flickers, randomly chrashes and gets crazy. Some times I manage to take several photos before it goes nuts. Front camera works fine!
I tried flashing clean rom etc. - problem persists, obviously it's not sw issue.
So I ordered replacement module. I installed it immediately and now my camera just force closes. There is no way to open camera app. I tried reinstaling camera app, clean flash etc., everything I could do from software side.
My old camera module works like before so I reverted the change.
Does anyone have experience with changing camera module? Any advice? Broken camera maybe?
I don't know if I dropped my ze551kl too many times or something happened while flashing, but the back camera does not work at all now. When I launch the pixel camera or any camera app, it launches the front camera. The led flashlight no longer works either. Can anyone offer any suggestions to troubleshoot or is this a hardware problem that is probably unfixable?
My moto g4 plus dropped in water. I dried it completly and it works flawlessly next day rear camera stopped working . I have have tried everything. Hard reset ..New applications.. custom Roms... Open board clean it all and reinstall camera hardware component but all failed. NOW I want to know is there any way to set front camera as my default back camera. It works some time by luck but don't focus. Because flash and camera works simultaneously I can't turn my flash on. When I use a third party application to turn my flash on. It just turns on for a second then again turned off. I know everything else is just working fine. So my Question is there any method to disable my back camera and set my front camera as default so that I can use flash, WhatsApp Web.. etc. I have my phone rooted on Naugat 7.1. Please also suggest hardware solution to fix my damaged camera. Thanks.
So, I'm going to assume the front camera is bad which is why it's not working. Oh well to it.. but the issue is, I can't use my main camera at all via camera apps. Other apps like messenger and discord can use it just fine, but I can't switch off of my broken wide angle camera to my main after the front camera went out. And I really don't feel like wasting money on the front camera I rarely use AGAIN... Is there any way I can force the phone to only use my main camera? I don't care for the wide angle or the front camera since neither work..
Thanks
Not sure if you have tried this. But when the camera acts up for me and won't open, I go to settings then Application Manager. Find Camera in the list. Force Stop it first, and then clear out Cache and Data both. Doing this usually resets any problems it has often caused by other apps accessing it. It should resort back to the main rear camera. Also try restarting your phone after this. Some problems won't even go away without a reboot.
