Well, I've tried Magisk with AOSP Extended, LOS 14.1 and Paranoid AOSP and game apps crash when I try to open them saying "the app xxxx has stopped" but when I uninstall Magisk 14, all apps open correctly. Also I have tried Genius v2pro rom but since I can't use Magisk with that rom, I use SuperSU and all apps works. Some help? I really want to use AOSP's with magisk since is the latest root.

Hi,
To be honest I am a bit bored of the standard ROM, having come from other phones where I root and have a play. I did try to root once and did so successfully and installed a new ROM (Was CM13 or 14 I think) but some of my work applications (email, calendar etc) and some games (e.g. Pokemon Go) require you to not have root.
I found some website links to use hideSU and Magisk but I couldnt get it to work when toggling, and was stuck with it showing as rooted. This was around 6 months ago though
When I try to do a search now, most of the links relate back to the old Magisk process which didnt work for me last time and is still 6-12 month old links. Does anyone have an easier, step by step process of how to root, flash ROM and then hide root?
I am familiar with flashing, so no issue explaining that - I just need to know what steps in between/after flashing I need to do to hide root.
Thanks
Install any rom with Magisk. Then go to Magisk Manager app, enable Magisk hide under its settings, and then install your applications normally. It's so simple. Don't forget to check root status in Magisk app. Sometimes SafetyNet shows as not passing, but there are fixes to make it work.
I personally recommend ResurrectionRemix and AOSP Extended ROMs, but there are lot of roms with Magisk now.
Ah, I have to install ROM through Magisk? I did mine through TWRP I think and then did Magisk, this might be where I went wrong. Will try again, thanks

Nope. Install ROM that includes Magisk (and gapps) through TWRP, then use Magisk Manager app that is included in ROM. Sorry for missing that part. Quote me next time so I get the notification.

Ah thanks, so need specific ROM that includes Magisk.
If i want to say install RR Remix, anyway i can flash the ROM and then Magisk separately?
Hi 3sixty , How did you succeed in hiding your app through magisk ? any positive methods.. I will be happy to know as I'm trying to solve a similar problem with my samsung galaxy note 5.
Flash any ROM, flash magisk, update magisk manager and enable magisk hide

Well, I never used Magisk, but i used to hide root by installing Root Cloak App from Xposed. So you have to flash Xposed framework as well. It used to work with most of the apps with android 4-6, except for 1-2 banking apps.
For Custom Roms, I recommend Ressurection Remix over all ROMs after MIUI ROMs. MIUI ROMs are available for other handsets as well and not just Xiaomi.
I am planning to eventually root the stock rom of SM-T580 to use AdAway and Greenify.
What sort of problems / side effects if any might I run into after rooting the stock rom?
Also I do not plan on using SuperSU as I will be using Magisk.
Some apps can not be installed anymore. (Netflix from playstore, super mario). Magisk does not prevent this. Use a browser with an ad blocker.

Not even with Magisk hide enabled?
Not on my tab s2 with magisk.
Netflix working fine here with Magisk 13.0 and Stock Android N. But on my OnePlus One Netflix isn't available even with Magisk.

When updating Magisk is it better to use the uninstaller zip and flash Magisk again or is using the built in updater fine?
You can't go wrong any way you use magisk. Mostly everything can be flashed directly from magisk. Remember magisk is root and has control. You won't have any problem updating magisk right from it's interface. The only time I've had a problem, has been from flashing a magisk module that doesn't support my device. Best regards.
Hi guys,
recently I installed LOS 14.1 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-4-prime/development/unofficial-lineageos-14-1-t3682512) and it's working almost perfect. I have used xposed together with LOS13 in the past. I did not encounter any problems with xposed on LOS13 but now on 14.1 no modules are being loaded. Obviously the status of xposed installer is ok (xposed framework version 88.1 is active) but no modules (like YouTube Adaway, XInsta or YouTube Background Playback) are working.
If I press on the module "YouTube AdAway" the message "YouTube AdAway v.3.6.1 is NOT active" appears. Of course did I check the box on the right and did a reboot of the phone.
Is there anything to consider to get the things done? I installed Magisk too, but I used the xposed installer from the play store.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Cheers Andi
It depends on the module dev whether they will add support for Nougat. Like in GravityBox[MM] for Marshmallow, the dev also made a GravityBox[N] for Nougat. I think Youtube Adaway and Background Playback currently doesn't support Nougat, you just have to wait for dev to make support for it.
YouTube AdAway and Background Playback work fine for me as well as AdBlock Reborn and several others.
I was using Xposed on RR 5.8.5, Validus 15.1 and now on AEX 4.6. Some modules are not compatible with nougat but even if it's not compatible you shouldn't be getting message that the module is not active. It just doesn't work but gets activated.
I installed Xposed Framework through TWRP and for Xposed Installer apk I don't think it matters if it's PlayStore or downloaded.
edit: I did have some problems on Validus, can't remember what exactly, but then I used xposed uninstaller via TWRP and installed it again the same way through TWRP and it worked.
okay I did a complete uninstall in TWRP and reinstalled it ... but modules are still not active any other idea? I set su rights for xposed in Magisk ... and I also set the storage permissions for xposed.
Just to provide as many information as possible: my log is empty and I can't download modules directly within the app.
There is new Xposed Framework v88.2 released today and new Installer. Maybe you'll have better luck with this new version?
Anyway Xposed Installer doesn't need SU permissions to work if you flashed Framework through TWRP. Installer only needs SU for installing Framework and updating.
I just updated it through Installer and everything works just fine but usually TWRP installation is recommended.
thanks for the information. I will try 88.2 in a few days (just to be sure not to be an early adoptor )
thanks for your help guys. With 88.2 and Xposed Installer 3.1..4 everything works fine!

After some trial and error. I finally got microg running on LOS 17.1 or Android 10/Q. Tested on J700H (should work on J700F, etc. except for T which I assume has different properties)
The installation is quite tricky for some bug reasons (Traditionally Installing Microg will result into, no app notifications.)
So for the people who want to install Microg in their LOS ROM make sure to follow this guide.
For people who doesn't know about MicroG
https://www.reddit.com/r/MicroG/comments/9jceaj
Before we start, there is also this https://lineage.microg.org/. Which gives you preloaded MicroG ROM but the problem is, the ROM itself isn't that updated (Last updated 2-2-2021)
But the good thing is, you only have to flash it with TWRP and voila. You got MicroG and LOS, just a little bit older.
For people who wants to have the latest nightly Lineage OS 17.1 and at the same time having microg follow these steps carefully.
Requirements:
Lineage OS 17.1 https://download.lineage.microg.org/j7elte/ (Download the latest Nightly Zip only, forget the recovery zip)
Working TWRP (if you dont have any https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-amp-amp-amp-root-samsung-galaxy-j7.3203632/) Please be careful
Apply this guide, but change the TWRP file to the latest one here https://dl.twrp.me/j7elte/
Magisk https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v21.2/Magisk-v21.2.zip
MicroG GMS Core https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/r...7.204714/com.google.android.gms-204714034.apk
^^^^^
It's important to download this version else your notifications wont work
File downloaded must be "com.google.android.gms-204714034.apk" DOUBLE CHECK!
For some reason, the latest MicroG automatically closes it's device registration upon exiting the app, thereby disabling Cloud Messaging as a result. Which means notifications wont even show up.
MicroG GSF Proxy https://microg.org/fdroid/repo/com.google.android.gsf-8.apk
OpenGapps [arm, android 10, pico zip] https://opengapps.org/ (But I thought it was microg? Yup this is only temporary but part of the procedure)
Lucky Patcher or anything that can uninstall system apps (I recommend lucky patcher since it doesn't require any play services to run. If you try to uninstall google play services with an app that relies on play services it will crash)
Latest Bootloader, make sure to flash the latest bootloader using odin before proceeding to install LOS otherwise it wont work.
Check sammobile for the latest firmware
NEVER SKIP REBOOT. Else you're just making things complicated.
Go to settings > Tap Build Number 7 times > Developer Options > enable OEM unlock
Reboot to TWRP recovery and Full Wipe (Data, Cache, Dalvik, System)
Install Lineage OS 17.1 (Dont boot to system yet)
Install Magisk Zip
Install Gapps Pico Zip
Boot to System
Run Magisk, just press okay when it tries to update the app on startup. Check if Magisk is Installed: 21.1 (No need to Update App or Magisk if those numbers are shown, if it's N/A then update it)
If magisk asks you to reboot then do it (Especially if you updated it)
On the magisk app, click the puzzle icon on the bottom right. This is the magisk module, now search for Riru, download & Install (after installation dont reboot yet)
Next look for the Riru - EdXposed module (Then reboot)
I'm not sure of this one but check if EdExposed app is present on your homescreen then proceed, if not then search for EdExposed Manager apk, download & install.
If you're doing things right, upon opening EdExposed Manager, framework should be active. If not then retrace your steps
On EdExposed Manager, swipe right, then click download, search for FakeGApps and install. (You need to activate the module then reboot)
Install Lucky Patcher and grant root. Uninstall Google Play Services and Google Services Framework using lucky patcher (Things will start force closing which means it's working, reboot your device)
Install MicroG GMS Core (Make sure you download the file I listed above or else notifications wont work)
Install MicroG GSF
Open MicroG Settings on Homescreen, do a self-check. See if everything is checked, tap to grant it permission. (If system spoofs signature is unchecked, retrace your steps from no. 13)
Restart your phone (do not skip this step)
Open MicroG Settings, turn on Google Device Registration & Cloud Messaging
Restart your phone again (do not skip this step!! notification wont still work at this point)
Install Push Notification Tester on playstore to test
Have a cup of coffee and congratulate yourself. You now have MicroG on Lineage OS 17.1
Long term note: For example if an app notification doesnt work. Check MicroG settings > Cloud Messaging.
If the app doesn't appear there (also if the app exists way before you installed MicroG) you may have to reinstall that app to be able to get notifications
Purpose of this guide: Installing these kind of things are now difficult since Android 10. So many bugs and stuffs not working that's why I created this guide to at least contribute a little.
I'm thankful for the people who Lineage OS, made my phone so smooth.

UPDATE: Apparently I somehow clicked some link and downloaded a super old version of Xposed installer. I downloaded the correct version 2.6.1. But when I try to install, it says that 'Xposed is not compatible with your current version of android' in red. So does Xposed not support android 11?
I want to install Xposed to get the ambient music mod. But not able to install Xposed. I installed Xposed installer but it says device not supported.
Mi A1 : Rooted, lineage OS 18.1.
Also on a side note, Magisk had its module repository removed in recent versions, any way to get it back?
install magisk 23.0
then install Riru and then LSposed module
