Hello everyone,
I searched but couldn't find anything concrete about this topic. I remember that back when I was on Android 4.4.2 KitKat I could simply flash a zip file in TWRP and then I could put a bootanimation.zip file somewhere in the system (forgot where exactly, it's been a few years). So I wanted to ask if there is a way to do the same thing on Android 6.0.1. I still have my custom bootanimaztion.zip file but I'm not sure if this method will work on Marshmallow or it'd brick it. Would appreciate some help over here

Hello,
I really want to root my G900W8 Galaxy S5 which currently has Lollipop, all I really need is root I would like to keep the original Rom. I've been reading a lot on this forum but most options need you too install a new rom as I understand it. I really don't care about nox either as I'm out of the warranty any how. Can you please provide a quick guide or direct me to one that would be best.
Flash this with ODIN 3.10.6
http://download.chainfire.eu/406/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-kltecan-kltevl-smg900w8.zip
So flashing that will I still be at Lollipop 5.0 or does this downgrade me to 4.4.2 I would prefer to stay with 5.0 if possible. Also do I still need to install Super SU and gaps?
Yes it will stay on LP
No it doesn't downgrade you to KK
No you don't need SuperSU, CF Auto Root installs that for you
Why would you need Gapps? You're not flashing a custom ROM
There are no more steps needed or I would have included them in the instructions on how to root your phone - wouldn't be much good if I missed steps out or flashed your phone to a completely different version of Android when you asked specifically how to root Lollipop...
But you know, if you took some time to read some of the thousands of threads with all this info in them, you'd know all this
Shouldn't be messing about with things before you've done some self-educating, or your next thread will be asking how to unbrick your S5
I was already well experienced with Android (Different device) when I got my S5, but I didn't start rooting or messing until I'd spent a few weeks reading a shed load of threads in the S5 forums, until I was 100% sure I knew what I was doing
Word of Advice: Go find the EFS partition backup thread before doing anything else
Thanks so much for the help
i am sorry if this is in the wrong place, I am kinda new here. But anyways, I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo SM-G903W running 6.0.1 Marshmallow with SuperSU installed. I know on Lollipop and Marshmallow you need to flash a file made for the certain phone to get Xposed. I have a Team Win Recovery Project 3.0.2-0 custom recovery on my phone. What I am trying to say is I can't find the xposed zip file or whatever for my phones model number and was wondering if you guys can help. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, can you help me? I'm having a big trouble with my Grand 2
(Sorry for my crappy English, Spanish is my first language, so I can't speak English very well)
Here's the problem: I recently got a Grand 2 G710 (Single SIM), it's a cool phone but I want to root it, install a Custom Recovery and flash it a custom ROM, but since I was looking for the files for my phone, I discovered something weird, the codename for the Single SIM variant is "ms013g" but in my phone appears as "ms013gss" and to be honest, I didn't try to root it because two reasons:
1) The CF flashable zip file is supposed to be used on a phone with KitKat firmware, but mine is on Jelly Bean and I can't update it because this is the latest update released by the carrier and when I try to update it via OTA, it says the latest update is installed.
2) I can't find a root method for the JB firmware
Also, I'm checking the latest ROMS Released for the Grand 2, but mostly of the custom ROMS are for the G7102, I don't know if there's ROMS for the G710 or you can use the same ROMS for the G7102, so please, if there's someone who can help me with this, I would be very thankful for your help, I know some things about flashing ROMS on Samsung devices, so you can skip the basic things.
I attached some screenshots of some information from my phone which it would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Commonly grand2 devices are sm g7102 so its really hard when you dont have the model. Also im gonna research root methods for youre phone, its the most important common thing you need.

Update: Since youre in grand 2 and you have custom recovery installed. Try downloading the supersu zip file from the chainfire website (it has updates so check the latest one), go to custom recovery, flash the zip file like you flashed the roms and youre done.
