[Q] How to enable sRGB? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Tho there is a picture color mode in Settings>Developer Options that enables/disables sRGB every time I "enable" it and exit the settings app it doesn't actually enables the sRGB and nothing actually changes to be more accurate when I exit the app and reopen it the switch closes (turns from Green to Grey) and it automatically goes back to "off"

You can't activate it. They probably left that option by mistake there.

They didn't left it by mistake. Google placed this option in developers settings for models with AMOLED or OLED displays like Nexus 6P or Pixels. It has no function for Mi A1 or Nexus 5X with LCD screen which is or should have been native sRGB.

Just received the Oreo update on my Mi A1 and the option is altogether removed from developer options. It doesn't exist now.

LG G3 Has A Screen Mode

So I'm looking in the hidden menu with the Quick Shortcut Maker app and searched screen mode and what do you know its there. Standard, Vivid, and Natural. I cant tell the difference when switching but its there. Just sharing info...:good:
Cant find this mode on secret menu..

Hmm maybe this has something to do with the difference in whites between screens (blue tint vs yellow tint)

It's not in the secret menu. You have to go through the app mentioned in the first post. At least that's how I found it. Hope this helps.

As soon as you open the app it says input keyword. Type screen mode and the tap done. Settings pops up tap it and then you will see settings Screen Mode tap it then tap on Try and it pops up.
I've tried changing it but I don't seem to see a difference. Although it could be me since I'm not very into detail. Can anyone tell which is the best setting?
It's probably a feature that wasn't finished and left in incomplete. That's probably why there isn't a difference and it's hidden. They have that accessibility thing for color that they might have gone with instead.

I search for this with shortcut app and there is no "screen mode" on hidden menu or any other app in my phone.if I search for screen and mode there are options but not this one.
Which version and model are you running?
Mine is V10j for D855.
It is present in the Verizon 985 version, but does not seem to do anything.

It's hidden in the settings when you search for screen mode under the activities. Press the down arrow and a list will show, find the screen mode. Mine is V10i, SEA version. From what I see, they're all the same.
If you use an alternative launcher as in Nova you can get to the ScreenMode without installing any other app.
Simply press & hold on Home Screen, select Shortcuts, then from the list select Activities and scroll down to Settings (on my G3 it says there are 364 different settings to choose). Finally scroll through the list until you get to ScreenMode, tap on it and it will create a shortcut icon on your Home screen.
Tap on the icon and it launches ScreenMode.
Note: I didn't notice any differences with the choices available.
Same here no difference i am on v10H.
Nice find man. But I don't notice anything?
10j no difference.
My guess would be that they would add it with an update in the future.
Would actually be cool if you can have the option to make things more vibrant (not to say i'm not satisfied with the screen, but sometimes change can be nice)

I sure hope so. I hope it's not the opposite, where they disabled it, but forgot to remove the code. I'd like a more vivid screen as well. I played with the color options in accessibility, but the results are... Ehh....

Camera Watermark Setting

I finally got around to poking at the camera software on the A7 and noticed a Watermark option. Oddly enough, when I try to flip the switch it doesn't turn on. Is anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong?
Works for me, and it puts the date and the text "by AXON" in the bottom right corner of the photo.
Puts the date but allows me to input whatever title I want with a subtitle and to set whatever colour I want...
I have the Chinese Axon 7, 4gb ram 128gb rom.
It finally started working for me. No idea why it wouldn't previously.
And now it's not working again. I also had the camera app freeze on me and had to reboot my phone.
So it turns out that if you open the camera app from the lock screen, you can't enable and disable the watermark. But if you open it from the app drawer you can.

Android Nougat 7.1.1 - New Features

Hi guys,
the following new features are exciting:
- when you pick up the phone it shows time, timer, date and received messages without pushing the power button
- when you flip/twist the phone twice a bit in camera app, it switches between normal and selfie mode
you can enable these features in settings/moves, see attached screenshot.
what else new and handy features did you discover? please share
What even? All these features you mentioned already existed on 7.0 lol.

They are. "Flip Camera" is not in Settings, but it is enabled by default in the Google Camera. I was first made aware of it in post 421 in this thread and the discussion I had following that post up to post 430.
"Lift to check phone" just seems like Ambient Display to me, just in another Menu location.

the first one I didn't know like others maybe, too
"lift to check" and ambient display are two different settings in different menu locations. also, ambient display has nothing to do with lifting the phone.
anyway, did any other handy features/functions appear in 7.1.1 for you guys?

lift to check: when you pick up the phone display turns on for a short time to show time, timer, date, music player buttons if listening to music and received messages without pushing the power button
ambient display: display turns on for a short time automatically as soon as the phone receives a message.

Ambient display also turned on the screen when you picked up the phone. It also caused some battery drain on n5x.
So which is which.

Not any longer. With ambient display on and lift to check off, the phone will not turn on if you lift it. No discernible battery drain on ambient either.
Lol this is so confusing, if the display appears as black and white with lift to check, then I'm sure it's just Ambient Display.
On 7.0 "ambient display" did what now on 7.1.1 "ambient display" + "lift to check phone" do.
5x had "lift to check" since release day included with Ambient Display. With 7.1.1 the glance screen stays on for longer, seems to work more reliably and there's that extra setting to control its function.

The glance screen was always idiotic to me, whenever it glanced, i would go pick up the phone and when i had it in my hand it was already off so i found it completely useless lol. I used the LED instead for notifications. have not tried ambient display on 7.1.1 though, but if it stays on longer it will probably be useful now

It's already enabled (I just upgraded without format data) . Also in whatsapp.
I get led notifications for Gmail, not for whatsapp.

After carefully examining both Ambient Display and Lift under controlled and exhaustive laboratory tests, I have concluded the following:
- Ambient Display, can easily be activated by any accidental shift in holding-angle and light differences
- Lift, can only be activated by flipping the phone from its face to its back.... (180 degrees) producing a black display just like Ambient Display but a bit longer.
- You can disable one and enjoy the other

navigation bar colors Huawei p10 lite

Hi.
My Huawei p10 lite doesn't allow to modify the color of the navigation and notification bars when opening any app. Apparently the color is locked (it's a dark orange) and app like navbar are not able to modify in any way the fixed color.
Only when opening "Settings" the bars are white and in home screen, where navigation bar is transparent.
The phone came with a telephone company brand (which logo, by the way, has same basic color of the navigation bar) but other customers I contacted throug socials that got the phone with same conditions from the same brand, seem don't have the issue.
Is there any idea how to unlock the navigation bar color without being root or go through other invasive expedients?
Thanks a lot,
Luca.
This happened to me when I asked Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. I got super annoyed by the orange colour. So I tried telling it to turn it off but it wouldnt, so I scrolled up on my Google assistant history and flipped the switch where it said power saving mode. As soon as I did that the orange was gone.

Please, may be so kind to illustrate the procedure in detail? I cannot figure out how to enter the google assistant history. By the way, to my knowledge I didn't turned on the power saving mode, unless I did it accidentally.
Thank you for helping me,

It only happens when asking Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. Try saying "Ok Google turn on power saving mode" and it might bring up a switch. If it doesnt, then to access what you've said before just say Ok Google or hold your home button then scroll up and keep on scrolling to find a switch. If there is no switch then I have no idea what the orange means.

Ok, have you tried changing the theme?
If not, then let's start:
1st: Find your themes app.
2nd: Go to the "Me" tab.
3rd: Choose any theme (those on the bottom are downloaded)
4th: Tap on the theme you want and tap apply.
If you have changed the theme then maybe download a theme which changes the navbar? (If I find one I'll try to send it.)
Ok here's one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15UOMMsz22_4NHnv0Ue2K5h_qxFH3zhvl/view?usp=drivesdk

I'm sure this is probably the Google power saving mode that is enabled. It shouldn't always be enabled, because it usually turns off once your battery is fully charged. Try installing Activity Launcher here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Open the app, on the top of the screen, tap on "Recent activities" and choose "All activities".
Scroll down until you find Settings > Battery Saver > Turn on automatically, and choose "Never".
Hopefully this will turn it off. If that fails, I'd suggest making a backup of your data, and doing a factory reset.

EDIT: It would actually be easier just asking Google Assistant to "Turn power saving mode off", and it should be deactivated. Whether you remembered doing it or not, you might as well do it anyway, before you go through all the steps I gave you. [emoji849] Doing what @ianorna said is the easiest method. It's the only way to remove it, and it might just save you from doing a factory reset.

I may be late in replying the post but if youre still having the problem theres an easy fix.
the bars are orange because your battery saving mode is on, and no not the huawei battery saving mode, but the native android battery saver, its buried in the settings,
got to
settings>Battery>Battery Uasge graph>Tap to open detailed graph
tap on the three dots button on top right corner> tap battery save>disable!
That should fix this :good:  :silly:

sRGB option reset after exiting developer options

Hello,
Anyone had success in activating sRGB and keeping it turned on?
I was fiddling with the options and tried switching on sRGB, thinking it was activated I took pictures but it looked the same. Then when i went back to the developer option, the sRGB toggle was switched off. Everytime I manually switch it on, and left the developer options menu, the sRGB option will automatically switch off.
Tried searching for it but the only hint I found was about secure startup (need to disable for the sRGB to persist), but for that scenario it only toggles off after the phone resets. https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/srgb-mode-resetting-reboot-t3252038
Any ideas?
Thank you.

No. SRGB produces natural colour which looks washed out. Some may prefer some may not. Personally i like vivid and bright colors on display

Ah sorry, I was referring to the users of Huawei Nexus 6P's experience, where when users toggled it on, it stays on until the phone is reset, after-which the toggle switches off automatically. They noted that for it to persistently switch on even after reset, the user needs to disable secure startup.
