Clock Icon in status bar. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I've joined the Android 8 beta testing group and since running the latest beta I've noticed a clock icon in the status bar (see image). It wasn't there before and I don't have any alarms set or anything that involves the clock.
Anyone know what it's for and can it be removed?
Thanks

Check for time sensitive reminders in the ...... Reminders app.

Isn't that just because you have a active alarm?

Taskbar Events

I've got a few apps that are used for navigation. Flipping between these apps seems like a waste of time and I was just thinking it would be cool to have an icon in the taskbar to represent events or possibly messages in the notification area.
Can apps add dynamic icons to the taskbar and/or dynamic/periodic notifications in the notification area?
I believe if the developer programmed that functionality in their app, then yes.

Does anyone have a more definitive answer? I'm asking from a programmers perspective.
Well i dont know exactly, what you mean with dynamic. But you can show a notification and update it frequently.

[Q] Paranoid Android 3+: Can I display status bar with Pie Controls?

I'm really digging Paranoid Android and the extended dekstop mode... That being said, I really miss my status bar. While the Pie control is a fantastic replacement for the bottom control bar, it's much less functional and efficient when it comes to displaying information and notifications.
I miss seeing my time, reception and notifications all the time.
I'd like to get the best of both worlds - Pie Control, with a Status Bar, but so far I haven't had any luck with settings. Is this possible at this point at all?

Yep, just set navbar to 0% in hybrid properties>interface>workspace
Just FYI, the paranoid android team is working on improving the pie so notifications show up as a "tickler" even in pie mode

I must be missing something. I set navbar to 0% as instructed, but the status bar still doesn't show up.
Also, I would like to have a customizable PIE control. There is currently no way to add buttons to PIE. When I'm on AOKP, I always add two buttons to the navbar - menu and search. The menu button is very handy as I can hit it and it shows "Nova Settings" and "System Settings," the two setting menus I use very frequently.
While the search button is on PIE, the menu isn't. Unfortunately, I can't live without it.
[EDIT] Nevermind... you do allow the menu button to show up in PIE. The position can't be changed, but it's a lot better than I mistakenly thought. Sorry!
Make sure not to enable expanded desktop if you're just trying to hide the navbar, if you just set the navbar to 0% it'll hide it and you won't need expanded desktop.
And make sure to press the "apply" button.
Forgot it myself ^^

Yeah, but now the second ring (date, time etc) never shows up. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ?
I posted this in another thread a while ago but didn't get an answer.
Is there a way to get the Notification bar AND the notifications in the PIE format too? Let me explain. Right now, I have full-screen PIE controls and in the settings I have the Pie type set to "Quick" which brings up the notifications right when Pie gets activated. I really like that functionality and I want to keep it. Is there any way to get that when using the above-posted solution? I can get the Notification bar and Pie controls just like what was posted, but I also want the notifications to pop up when I activate Pie. Anyone get that to work?
Had the same issue

Had the same problem as I switched back from using JellyBam to Paranoid Android. As the Paranoid Settings are persistent on the SD card I figured that was where the problem was. I had set the Nav bar to 0% in the Paranoid Settings as that was the only way to hide it in JellyBam, which meant that upon launch already it was set like that. My Pie menu was also not displaying the second ring, however when I set the Nav bar back to 100% and then enabled Expanded Desktop it all of a sudden started working again.
I'm not sure if it was because of the change in the Nav bar size or that I played with the different layouts, but it made the Pie menu work as per usual again. One more thing to mention is that despite where I had tried to set the Pie gravity to before doing all this it never took effect, even after a restart. Now all is fine again.
So play with your layout setting (tablet, phablet, phone) and then set them back to your preferred ones and see if that works.
I know it's most likely not exactly your scenario but am hoping that somehow this helps.

It is not possible to have the full pie and status bar at the same time because it is redundant as said by moles the dev of pa. But they are working on pie2 as of now.

Hey guys I just flashed paranoid android and I can't get my status bar to come back with these instructions.. any advice? This is driving me nuts.
used paranoid android for a month.
I used paranoid android for a month on my note 2, and from my short experience I know messing with it's settings kinda sucks... I would recommend taking the nav bar to 0%. And then to download LMT launcher and put it in the bottom of the screen. Don't forget to leave full screen mode. Hope I helped :cyclops:

[Q] How to disable Touchwiz calendar reminder on lock screen

I think I have gone through every menu option in settings for my S4 i9505 but I can't for the life of me figure out how to disable the calendar appointment reminder that appear on the lock screen. I believe it is Samsung S Planner application that is doing it but I can't find any options for it under the general settings for Security, Display, Lock Screen or in the settings for S Planner. I'm not sure where else to look. I'd like to carry on using S Planner as the application interface isn't too bad but I really want to disable to calendar reminder on the lock screen. Any ideas?
Thanks

I tried this and found two apps one called S Planner and another called S Planner Widget. S Planner had the Show Notification check box disabled (i.e. could not toggle the settings) and the Disable button was inactive (could not click this). However, the S Planner Widget could be changed so I disabled the Show Notification and also Disabled it. I believe it is the S Planner Widget that was the offender so hopefully this will have fixed it. I'll know for sure after a few appointments have come and gone and nothing get's splatted across my lock screen. Thanks for the help.

As it turns out, this did not fix the issue. The S Planner application has an option in the application for "Set alerts and notifications". The options are:
1. Alert
2. Status bar notification
3. Off
I've now set this to Off which has stopped the lock screen view coming up. The notification bar notifications are still coming up (presumably this is coming from the main Calendar application). The notification bar notifications is something I still wanted to retain but unfortunately clicking on this notification just takes me to the normal Calendar app rather than S Planner.
Doesn't seem a way around it as far as I can see.

I have used the 1st option (1. Alert) and it seems to be that the reminders appear on the notification bar, and in the first occasion of the reminder as a dismiss or snooze screen but NOT on the lock screen. Give that a try.

Whatsapp notification problem..

Hi there, I'm facing a problem with the notification in WhatsApp, when I get a message and let's say I'm chrome or any other app it's only shows the WhatsApp icon on the notification bar, but if I don't remember it wrong it should at leats show me something like new message from "anywho" and then the icon, or even give me the option to fast reply showing me the whole message but it's not doing any of this, only the icon and I have to draw the notification bar just to see who is texting me..
It's this the way it's supposed to work? Cuz is driving me crazy..
I have last marshmallow stock build with July security patch, unlocked and rooted with EX-kernel and a theme called Milos using layers manager, dunno if that have something to do with it..
Ty, guys.

How can I enable again this feature? (screenshot inside)

On mine, I haven't it.

MMh. That's interesting. Because I've not downloaded any app that hides background notification. Weird situation.
Any other suggestion?
However, thanks!

No, I have exDialer, Amazfit Tools and some others.
That "block" disappeared today.

You probably swiped left on it and disabled it from there - if that could be done for this app. Just locate the app (in settings > apps) and check its notifications
It was the first thing I did, but option about notification is already enabled.
I've disabled, saved, re-enabled it.
No solution.
OK, I'll survive without it!
Thanks, by the way, for help.
Afaik that recurring notification about apps running in the background was a bug in the 1st version of Oreo (December). It's been fixed in the January update that's why you don't have it anymore. I used to have the same annoying notification too. But I'm not sure why your wife's phone still has them. Not updated, perhaps?
Hello,
They are both updated to January patch.
I'm on January update and only see that notification for Gmail every once in a while, usually before an email comes through.
