Hi there,
I'm experiencing problems with Android 7.1 and TWRP...more precisely I can't boot any backup of android 7.1.
It seems to restore but it always gets stuck in a bootloop at the Lenovo logo.
There isn't a problem with Android L - backups work and boot.
Can anyone confirm this behaviour??? (or maybe has got some further information or hints about it)
thanks
The same problem. I thought it is my local trouble.
It was the same for me. I had to reset tab to original state and, so that rooting didn't worked properly for me, and neither did nandroid restoring, I didn't even unlock bootloader this time....

how can you run twrp with locked bootloader???
so here's what you can do instead...
it's still possibe to restore 'data' - so one needs to go back to android 6 (via full rom or older backup).
update to android 7.1
restore data.
I'm not using it anymore, since it was not working. So, by now I've decided to use this tab "as it is". Winch is not bad at all, BTW.
But not a device to experiment with, definitely.

I have successfully installed Nougat in my Jiayu S3A Jiayu S3 Adv/Basic/Pro (mt6752 - Android 7.1.1 Build 20161212 - Stable 5)
Everything seemed to work fine, but when I connected with Wifi, connection lasted for a few seconds and then interrupted. I happened several times (everytime I connected) ... so I went back to previous version...
Any solutions?
Thanx a lot

There is a specific tread for this build. Why not try there?

I did not find a solution in any thread, and I can't post in ROM threads
Ok. But you can read other threads right?
So look in there and read. There is a solution for that.

I found these thread , but it did not seem to be the same problem (I did not have a wrong MAC address). And I don't really know what exactly these modems are, and how they work. I was asking for help about this issue, not for helpless answers about what I should search. I'm not an expert in this matter.
Thank you very much. You can keep your answers for other posts and save your energy, anyhow.

You are looking the wrong way. The way is flash RC4 with sptf and than change recovery to the one recommend by MAD. Than you may flash 7 to last RC.
Read well. It's all in there. Don't read just the last line. Study the thread.
Enviado do meu SM-J500FN através de Tapatalk
you somehow right but you have to work a little bit by yourself. Some ppl reflashed with SP Flash Tools the rom RC4 and problems solved after re-installing afterwards android 7.1.1 from MAD through the correct Recovery.
But other ppl claim that they just installed another modem version from the modem's thread (it is a zip file installed with TWRP).
You are the only one who can test in your device your solution.
Be brave and best luck!
using TapaTalk with my JiaYu S3 , 7.1.1
Hello, thank you for your answer.
I did a backup wipe to factory reset, and I did install the last 7.1 recommended by MAD. I don't know about all those modems, what should I choose or why. And I'm not sure it is a modem related issue. Wifi does connect, but loses connection in a few seconds... I'll think about it but I probably keep the phone as it is. I don't have the expertise to correct this issue.
Thank you again.

Thanks a lot for your answer. The point is that I'm no expert at all and don't have so much time. I went back to 4.4.4, which has not worked bad for the last months, and I don't really know what I'm going to do... Stay Idle for the moment, probably.
Cheers!
Since you can't post on ROM thread
Due to constant flash's, or errors on flashing its possible that somehow your nvram got corrupted
The best thing to do to make sure everything is done properly is re-flashing the whole SPFT lollipop build ( choose one... Either any of the Chinese stock or the ones made by M.A.D. ,latest is the RC5)
Then updated your recovery (its on Nougat ROM FA.Q.)
And flash Nougat builds

The YouTube channel you linked to is called "Android Doctor" and your profile biography says "Im the Android Doctor" so it's obviously your own Youtube channel. There's nothing wrong with linking to your videos (unless it's against XDA ToS I guess) so why lie about it?

For what? It doesnt help you for nothing, anyway will be show to was unlocked.
But just unlocked the bootloader can dismiss the warranty?

Your warranty is already lost, it's like trying to be virgin again. You can relock the bootloader, but you can't revalidate your guarantee.

Only the message for only cosmetic purposes? You need a modified boot animation. So far is not available for the G5. Only for the G5+.
But the device still will be out of warranty.
The warranty is lost in the very momento that your ask for the unlock code in the Moto website, even if you don't make use of it to unlock your device.

Yes, only for cosmetic. Tks

i got rooted my g5 but due to some reason i had to give service center and they replaced the twrp recovery to their stock
so i want twrp (phone is still unlocked but when i tried normal method it doer not detect my phone) back can you guide me
Hey guys in my case, I bricked my phone and it was not able to boot. Because I flashed the poly os Oreo zip file from sorceforge.net which is under development. But when I went to the service center, I told them that my phone was not booting, they didn't ask me anything and said we will check and let you know. After one hour they told me your handset is dead. They replaced the motherboard free of cost. I don't know how this is possible, because I unlocked the bootloader' and flashed the twrp.

They probably couldn't even identify the reason you had the phone not booting. I also think it's improbable here in my country they will check if your phone was unlocked or not unless your phone is booting for them to see. In other words if the phone doesn't boot at all and if it doesn't show any sign when connected to USB or whatever methods they have to see if your phone is booting, they will replace it.
I'm pretty sure however, that motorola keeps records of the phones which required the unlock code, and I doubt very much that in the United States they would not check it.
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for a good device but is bad moment for my economy.
I'm thinking buy a 2 moto g4, one with broken screen and other with mother board failure. I've changed some screens and other parts.
However I can buy a g4 plus with a bootloop and I don't know if all bootloop failures are recoverable through adb/fastboot or other specific tools for Motorola.
Definitely, all bootloops are recoverable via software?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, no.
If the bootloop is software related of course you'll can solve it by flashing the stock full factory image via fastboot, but if it is not the case could be hardware related (fried eMMC the most common cause on a mobile device or a bad welding between CPU and the PCB).

There are tons of tutorials on how to do it. Need to enable camera 2 api. Which in order to do so you have to unlock boot loader, enable it, then lock boot loader. Most likely wiping your device in the process. Once that is done then when you install the apk it will no longer crash.

As I mentioned there are tons of tutorials through it forum. All you need to do is search. There are newer ones than the one I used and possibly better ones, I don't know for sure.
these are the steps I followed back when i was still on Oreo. Im not sure if there is a better option now but its the one i chose and it worked:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/root-enable-camera2api-eis-t3749541
My device was wiped in the process so prepare for that.
I have had several monthly updates and the Pie update followed by monthly updates to Mar19 on Pie.
So yes updates still work and my API remains enabled.

That means I need to backup my data before I unlock the bootloader?
Unlock bootloader cause data loss?
It can. There is a way somewhere in the instructions with pressing a key combo that supposedly doesn't wipe. But didn't work for me. So just be prepared.

You are unlocking and then relocking
There is always a risk doing any of these mods of bricking your phone.
