Unbranding ZenFone 3: is it possible? - Asus ZenFone 3 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I own a ZE552KL, TIM branded (apparently the only way to get an Asus in Italy these days...) and I'd like to switch to the WW firmware. The main reason I want to switch is TIM firmware is not frequently updated, and I really dislike TIM boot animation.
I'm not into rooting or flashing custom ROMs, and actually some apps I use would not work with custom roms (banking stuff etc.).
So, is there a way to get rid of the worst boot logo ever AND get official ASUS updates WITHOUT rooting/unlocking/doing stuff that would interfere with banking apps?
Thanks

[Q] Noobie question on stock image

Hi there. I got my S2 from Vodafone Ireland. Couldn't hate more those bloatware that comes with it. Specially that Vodafone 360 update. I've rooted it with no problems, but tried different apps to uninstall those vodafone crapware and none seems to be able to get rid from them.
So, I'm thinking in installing the 2.3.4 stock image as explained at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159920)
My noobie question is: Will this remove the Vodafone stock firmaware for good? I know I'll probably end with a very basic device without touchviz (which I don't think I'll miss), but I heard samsung did some good job on HW accelartion on the browser.
So, until we have cyanogen on S2, installing the stock image would be a good idea to get rid of those crapware from vodafone?
Regards
Any stock rom will remove vodaphone and still have touchwiz.

[Q] Some questions about rooting

Hello guys, I have some questions I am hoping you experienced people can answer for me.
After doing a bunch of research, I am left a bit confused since a lot of the posts are older, and things have changed over the last few months, especially with locked bootloaders and such.
My current phone is:
-Samsung S4 (Fido based) SGH-i337M
-Android Version 4.3
-Baseband Version i337MVLUEMK6
I only want to ROOT the phone, so I can remove a bunch of excess Samsung bloatware that I never use, I am not really interested in custom ROM's at this time.
1. What is a Custom Recovery exactly?
I keep reading about Custom Recoveries but I don't really know what they are exactly... . Is this just a Firmware mirror that I can go back to at any time AFTER I root the device? Do I need to root the device to CREATE the Custom Recovery?
2. CAN I go back to "Stock" easily? Can I just find the original 4.3 Samsung FW and load it up?
3. I know that moving to 4.4 will require another Root when it becomes available later this month from Samsung, however can I go to the Default Android 4.4 ROM at this time, skipping all the Samsung Stuff?
4. I see a programmed called KINGO offering to root my phone for me, but then somebody said something about there not being a Custom Recovery available for it, which goes up to my original question. Can I not just revert back to unrooted status after?
Thanks to anybody who can help me with these noobish questions, I appreciate it.
I don't have your model so don't want to guess at rooting.
But:
Do not remove Bloatware after rooted. Get Titanium BackuP from the Market. The paid version (support devs) and just freeze the apps until you know they have no negative impact after freezing.
Do a Nandroid ASAP and put a copy on PC also.
Read this on your Recovery question:
http://freedupthoughts.com/2013/04/what-is-custom-recovery-why-should-i.html
You have an unlocked bootloader with the i337m
Someone else can address correct rooting for your specific device and get the correct recovery for it. I prefer TWRP.

[Q] How to root a Note 4 910F in the UK?

Hi guys apologies for a question that there is masses of info on already. Experienced iPhone user here who jailbroke everything I had (and even then it was rubbish compared to stock Android hence the move!!). The trouble is it's too much info and is confusing my little head (new to Android) especially as many of my searches go to old threads so I don't know if things have changed.
I have a 910F in the UK and it's on EE (Everything Everywhere = a network in the UK like Sprint or Verizon or whatever in the USA). I want to root it but can't find roots for the UK EE version as everyone seems to talk about US versions only.
1) Is there a root specific to this provider (EE) or doesn't it matter? For info my "baseband version" is: N910FXXU1BOC4 but the "build number" is LRX22C.N910FXXU1BOC5 and when I search the chainfire lists I don't see this I only see somethign ending in B4, is this a problem?
2) Is there a safe way of rooting now without tripping knox?
3) I probably don't want to do a custom ROM as I want to hold onto my apps but just get rid of bloat apps one by one (very happy with Go launcher so far) but I may in the future. Will this affect which method I should use?
4) I've read n00b info about what a bootloader is and I'm still confused - I imagine I will have to unlock this as part of any rooting process?
5) Will rooting also unlock it so I can use with any carrier?
This forum has been fantastic to me so far, thank you. I hope this question isn't too annoying.

I have a 910F also and my baseband is alså C4 and builenumber is C5 . In denmark
I use this root file http://download.chainfire.eu/571/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root-trltetmo-trltetmo-smn910t.zip

Ah ok cheers.
That's cool then. I wonder why it doesn't mention the build number then? And I've been doing more reading and am trying to work out at the moment whether I need to change the recovery (TWRP) as well or just need to use chainfire on its own..... ? It's quite confusing.
I have stock recovery . I will change til twrp wen i will play whit roms when you have stock recovery you can still get updates from samsung kies .
When you root ota updates dosent work

Thanks again buddy.
May be a silly question but are you saying you can do chainfire without changing the recovery and then add the custom recovery bit later?
And can you only add custom ROMs if you change the recovery bit too? (eg with TWRP CWM)
You can use chainfire on stock recovery of you want to play whit custom rom then you need a custom recovery i hold to stock recovery until i want to play whit custom rom i have played a lot whit custom rom
I dont know if custom rom suports Spen that i dont have checked yet
Its my 2. Week on note 4 same day i got the phone i rooted it

Thanks once again mate.
Last questions to clarify: can I root first without custom recovery and do things like remove Samsung bloatware?
THEN
apply CWM or TWRP to the phone some time later if I want to add custom ROM?
Or can you only remove bloatware by changing the recovery too and havign a ROM?
And will the phone wipe and lose all data if change the recovery so best to do it all in one go?
Thanks
Yes you can ..
Just root . Keep stock recovery. Then get root uinstaller or titanium backup from google play and freeze the bloatware
Remember always only freeze. Then if you freeze somthing wrong then you just unfreeze again .
Then later on if you want to play whit custom rom then you just install twrp og cwm recovery and a new rom

Help me restore K3 to the original rom

Hello guys. I am tired of flashing custom roms, I dont care if chinese apps will bloat my phone, I just want to restore the phone to its original state and hope for the best (maybe OTA updates will be available, no idea). So is there a way to restore the phone the way I received it at day one?
My phone is K50a40 but im not sure because its the milionth ROM i installed, i dont even know anymore. Currently running Cuoco92 S424 rom.

I'm new with Huawei devices, and I need some informations...

I always had lots of HTC devices with custom Roms (even with S-Off...) and custom recoveries, but to be honnest, I'm a bit lost with Huawei devices...
How can I restore all the datas of my app's from my old HTC to my new Huawei (MyBackup Pro and Titanium) ?
I don't have the choice? Root is needed?
I'm a bit afraid of bricking the new phone if something is different between those two brands...
I want to stay on a stock Rom (It'll be the 1st time for me! ) to have OTA easily... It's difficult to find the good stock recovery matching
with the good stock Rom (my Huawei is branded by my operator I think) ?
Thanks to help me with my noob's questions. :good:
