guide to unlock/ lock( for claiming warranty) bootloader. - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

To unlock bootloader
You will need to go to emui.com
Than go to unlock section, enter the details and you will get unlock code. Just copy it and save for future use.
Enter into fastboot mode.
Enter the command fastboot oem unlock _______?enter your code.
Now you have unlocked bootloader.
To lock bootloader
You will need
1 micro sd card.
Files specific to your model like mine is frd L02.
There are 2 files required for this process.
First is rollback file, which is around 70-80MB. This file is not present in indian hihonor website, so search Google, you can't use another model file or skip this part. In case you don't find -. Leave a comment.
2nd is firmware file which you will find on hihonor software section, file size is around 1.5 GB.
assuming you have proper files for your smartphone.
Put rollback file into internal storage ( in a folder named dload)
Power off your smartphone, press and hold power and volume up and down key.
After flashing is complete.
Power off your smartphone.
Put firmware file in micro sd card( in a folder named dload).
Press and hold three keys again.
After flashing is complete your honor 8 now is locked and you can claim your warranty as if bootloader was never unlocked.
In case you didn't understand something, let me know.
P.s. - please help me increase my rating if i helped you somehow.

I didn't knew that, but in that case why Huawei ID told me "you device has been rooted" when I logged in while my phone wasn't rooted? Maybe because of the unlocked bootloader?

They have their own way to detect root. Anyway, Knox is a Samsung thing, I don't know how it is called on Honor phones.

No product model
Thanks for the tips. But I can't find Ascend Mate 7 product model on the list. What is the model of yours?
I'm thinking to buy AM7, but I want to make sure that I can root and install custom rom later, before buying it.

Yes, you have to flash back to the factory recovery and then update. After this, re-root it again.

Actually what I meant is how to get the unlock code. Don't you need to unlock the device before rooting it? I checked on the Huawei website (http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail) and I can't find the AM7 product model.

LT09 seems to be European model.
I sent an email to Huawei to know fit it is still possible to get a code...
the link posted on a German forum posted previously seems to be fine but I do no read German that much and Google translate gives me akward results I do not trust...
So I think I'm going to wait for a while untill I find something I can trust (or understand )

Now we're waiting for a custom ROM
I've unlocked my phone successfully this way and rooted it. But then i had to flash stock recovery again cause if not, OTA upgrades doesn't work at all. Worse : factory reset makes ur Emui rom look totally different after reboot (basic look, no theming, ugly...)
So when i put stock recovery back and factory reset, it looked like before.
But i didn't need to root again.

need support upgrade to MM

Hello dears,
I'm really tired of this Damn p8 lite !
All I need is to run gyroscope sensor ! . Here it stars !
first of all, I have ALE-L21 C185B130 with android version 5.0.1 . No OTA updates ! stuck for more than a year with this version and no updates .
Days ago I decided to upgrade on my own without waiting more.
- Firstly, I have unlocked bootloader --> unlocked now
- Secondly, I have rooted the phone using supersu --> Rooted
- Thirdly, I have installed TWRP recovery --> amazing custom recovery
- Later on , I have download MM Rom " Huawei_P8 Lite Dual SIM__Firmware_ALE-L21_Andriod 6.0_EMUI 4.0_C185B525_Middle East_Northern Africa_Channel-Others" as I'm in Middle east . Just found what I'm not familiar with dload stuff including "UPDATE.APP" .
Just copied this file and tried the regular way : settings -->updater-->local update --> selected the file -->reboot Daaaaah ! custom recovery ! I've re-flashed the original recovery and did the operation again but got failed
Anything wrong with this process ?? should I be on certain version before upgrading to MM ?
Also, can I upgrade with the TWRP recovery as I'm really sick with the original one ?
I'm old HTC DHD user and you know what I mean new roms every day ... I really missed that monster !
Please advise and share with me your sadness
You must get stock recovery , unroot you phone before installing mm. You have some threads here explaining how to do

You can do it with rooted mobile too...but updating will unroot your mobile.. The process is simple :
Place Update.app in dload folder, where dload folder must be in your internal memory/sd card
Shut down your mobile and then Press vol +, vol- and power key until the phone vibrates
Doing this should begin the update process.. But remember you must be on stock recovery...

P8 Lite Boot loop

I've been trying almost everything for days. When I turn on the phone the bootloader enters in a loop.
I can't access to recovery (vol up + power), not even in update mode(vol up & vol down + power).
The only thing I can access is the fastboot but my phone is locked and I don't the have the imei to unlock via calculator or the oficial huawei page.
If someone have any suggestions.

If getting your IMEI is your only concern then you can get that from the box... But you'll need Product ID too, and for that you'll need to have your phone booted up...

I downloaded the official ROM from huawei and is the recent version but when I tried to install it with "fastboot update file.zip" is asking for an android-text.txt and I been searching to re-create that file manually and then is asking for another file and so on.
I've been searching if I can install the oficcial ROM by fastboot even if is not unlocked and find this guide but it is not usefull for me 'cause I can't access into the download mode or use adb.
This is the information I could extract from my phone.
Firmware : ALE-L21C109B130
I couldn't fint this version of firmware.
If you could light my way if you have another method.

Ok i searched for ways to find an IMEI number and found couple of ways...
1) Look under/in the sim tray. It may be there (I didn't check this out)
2) Find the IMEI/MEID using Google Dashboard. This is Google's control center that can be accessed from any computer with a web browser. You will need to log in with the Google account associated with your Android phone. You can access Google Dashboard by visiting www.google.com/settings/dashboard Expand the "Android" section by clicking the "Android" heading.Locate your phone in the list. If you have multiple devices associated with your account, all of the devices will be displayed. Find the device that you are trying to retrieve the IMEI/MEID number for. (This works)
3) At last, you can try to remove the back case and remove the battery. This can help you in 2 ways. Firstly, there should be IMEI code present under the battery. Secondly, this may cause you to get out of bootloop

Do you have twrp. If so go-to advanced>file manger and there are for files with lock in them looksettings pin, pattern, fingerprint, etc delete them you can enter new pins when you reboot. You just erase the current locks and you will have no lock when you reboot. I forget which folder it's in I'll look and see.

If you can get it to be recognized by your computer in fastboot then you can flash TWRP reboot into recovery and erase the lock settings. Every time I make a backup I get disable the pin and fingerprint locks because it always says I have the wrong one. That's how I figured out how to delete them.
