Other than having functional Android pay and Pokemon Go, why should passing Safetynet be important to me? I don't use those apps, and I like running the stock ROM with Xposed. Would we need a patched kernel to to pass?

As a general rule, SafetyNet will not pass with Xposed. Closest option (unless something has changed very recently) is to use Xposed via Magisk and temporarily disable Xposed when you need to pass.

That is the only way on a 6P and other devices.
Xposed modifies the system and by definition it is no longer secure.
Magisk with it's modules is the best way. If you absolutely need Xposed, then forget Pay.

Yeah, I don't really care about Android pay. What would I need to do to accept an OTA. Would uninstalling Xposed be enough, or would I have to wipe and flash the stock firmware again?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
I don't understand the need for OTA if you have TWRP?
TWRP typically precludes OTA.
Someone will typically make a flashable version of the OTA. At least on every device I've owned.

just flashed resurrection remix 5.7.1-20160711-angler on my phone and i want to install xposed framework on it. is it the normal procedure of flashing it from twrp then installing the apk and we're good to go? or is there a special version for the custom rom?
thanks
Should be the same procedure. Usually the ROM will specify whether it works with Xposed or not. but installation is the same

Totally off topic, mods curse me if you must, but what's the point of going systemless if the other mods you're installing still break android pay? Or does android pay work with the setup you have? It makes me so mad that Google disables one of the coolest features on their flagship phone when people make use of one of the other coolest features on their flagship phone. Ease/safety of rooting is one of the reasons I always buy nexus.
My bank decided to release their own tap to pay over NFC rather than use Android Pay. The only app that's broken for me would be the Android app I can't use regardless.
So as the thread states, I'm looking to bypass the root check for Pokemon go. We all know Pokemon go now uses safetynet to check for rooted configurations. Where my issue lies, is I'm using CM13 a custom ROM on my device. It has root, as well as Xposed Framework. I want to install Magisk but I'm not fully sure if it is compatible with my device at its current settings. Any help guys? (I do apologize if I'm in the wrong section. I'm new here)

it should work as the systemless root is device transparent you will need to do systemless xposed too
Have you had any luck trying to get magisk on CM13? I have not been successful with jasmine yet.

Actually, I have. I broke because I wanted to play Pokemon go. It actually does work, you just have to fully unroot, delete xposed, check xbin and bin in /system with es file explorer, reboot to be sure your phone isn't brick. If that works, follow the instructions on the magisk thread I did exactly in that order and its pretty good. But if you play Pokemon go, you'll have to turn off xposed when you install it as safety net detects it.
Hello, I am curious to know if anyone has tried the Xposed Framework on a G7-L01 and if so, what if any issues they have come across?
I've been following Xposed Framework v82-Huawei for EMUI 3.1/4.0 and I'm about ready to jump in and install the framework, but just want to check with other users first
Any advice would be appreciated :good:
Hi, I successfully installed Xposed on my G7 and it is working without issues. Just not getting CM13 installed somehow but at least am on rooted stock version.

Excellent, held off on mine just till the weekend, but can I ask you, for the G7 did you use the ARM or the ARMx64 zip? I'm thinking the ARM is correct, but might be wrong.

Correct, it is ARM, not the 64bit version.

Had a go with Magisk, v7 went on no problem. I then flashed the modded Xposed and lost root. I had put SuperSU as user app, but was not interested in using the systemless SuperSU and suhide, but by not using them, that possibly led to the root going. Will keep an eye on Magisk though, interesting development.
Restored backup and went with the ARM version of Xposed Framework v86 proper and so far OK, root stayed anyway which was main thing.
I've only tried XToast module, to test and it is not fully working for me. Will try another few modules before I decide if I want to try systemless again.

Any recomendations for good working Xposed modules for the G7?
Main reason I want to try it, is lack of custom roms for this device, so might as well mod the stock rom to suit myself.
I have Viper4Android, on and working, but looking for a way to automate the selinux enforcing for it through an Xposed module, but any other suggestions are welcome

Hey aStRaL_dRaGoN, thanks for the reply and the offer. I went with normal Xposed and normal root in the end and so far all is OK.
I don't play Pokémon Go or have any banking apps that would require me to go fully systemless just yet. I did try it out though and Magisk, went on OK, no problems, the issue arose when I flashed the modded Xposed zip, I lost root then. I can only assume it was because I did not have SuperSU, fully systemless, I had just not made it a system app, I left it as a user app. Maybe some other time though I'll go back to the Magisk route and if I have any problems, I'll ask you, thank you :good:
Hello. I am running Alliance ROM, with an OH4 build and an OD5 bootloader. My phone has been rooted forever, and I can't remember which root method I used, but I know that I can ODIN an NI2 kernel and get to Safestrap. I've never gotten Xposed to work properly.
There are a lot of threads about using Magisk, but everything talks about it needing some sort of "Systemless root". I'm not sure what that means. Is that some newfangled root method that everyone is using now? I have SuperSU pro 2.78. How do I know if it's Systemless?
Can anyone decipher the Magisk thread and tell me if it will work with this phone? Or are there any other methods that will work?

i dont know if it will work with pokemon go or not but here is a way to hide root you would have to downgrade to super su 2.77 or earlier though to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396
Magisk works if you have an unlocked bootloader. I am using it on my s5 with Pokémon. It's fairly straightforward with twrp to setup. I am on resurrection remix.

Can you tell us in some detail how you installed it and what version your using of Magisk. I've not been as lucky with my installs and yes I can unlock my bootloader

Sorry for the delay. It looks like Magisk no longer works as google updated safetynet. If I find something that works I will let you know. I am probably done with the game though.

Maybe I am not erasing all the su files, but even with magisk installed, regardless of being on a stock rom or a custom rom, i can't get it to work.
I assumed that magisk working means that magisk is working properly and...should, in theory, allow me to play pokemon go.
I guess I'll just have to hope they repeal it, mostly because iphone has so many hacks....not requiring jailbreak.
fking joke

but not with phh superuser? that's what i've been using since that seems to be what magisk has been pushing.
edit: also, does it work with xposed as well? at least, the systemless exposed.
actually, i don't even know if the zip i have to use for my samsung is systemless, even though it uses the same installer...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268Magisk v.7 +Suhide v0.54 + Xposed confirmed working POGO on my S3 running CM13
My S5 has locked bootloader =(
Magisk requires unlocked bootloader +TWRP
Suhide requires android 6.0+
If you can get TWRP on your S5 you are good to go to play POGO
1.Uninstall xposed and Majisk and Supersu(i used http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3528363&d=1446472307
2.Reflash whatever rom you are on(if using rooted rom(like cm13) reflash unsu.zip and delete the SU binaries or anything that says "su" from /system/bin & /system/xbin & /data with TWRP file browser)
3.TWRP shell, type
echo SYSTEMLESS=true > /data/.supersu
4.Flash SuperSU. only this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
5.Reboot to system once before going back to recovery.
6.Flash Magisk v7, then suhide v.54, then Xposed Systemless). Reboot to system.(do not flash batch)(flash each individually)
7.Install Magisk Manager v2.apk
8.Install Material Design Xposed Installer apk
9. i like the "Snorlax" xposed mod
=)
*also earlier today Magisk v6 + Suhide v.54 +xposed was working fine but i went ahead and updated to new verrsions to hopefully stay ahead of safety net
*also here is oudated thread where i learned this method...my steps slightly different and use updated links
*also some report problem with xposed systemless v86.6 ... redo all steps with v86.2
*also xposed not required for POGO (just ignore all xposed entries in setup for working POGO and root) but who doesnt want xposed =P
What would work for my stock rom on a Samsung E7 Lollipop 5.1.1? I rooted, installed GoGPS in system with Lucky Patcher, unrooted and now the game says my phone is not compatible with Pogo. I can't install Marshmallow cause there is no version of it for my smartphone.

Using AOSP Extended v4.6, Magisk v14.3 beta, and systemless Xposed. How can I pass Safetynet? I already tried the Universal Safetynet fix on the Magisk forums, to no avail. Would like to play the new Animal Crossing...

I don't think you can pass SafetyNet with xposed installed - you may have to disable xposed then attempt to try playing the game again. I do not know if you have to reboot after disabling xposed.
