Since last week's camera update my 360° camera isn't working anymore. When I attach it, nothing at all happens, camera app doesn't open and if I open it manually, it doesn't show any hint of the 360° camera being attached.
Anybody experiencing the same? Any hints on how to fix it? I tried rebooting without improvement.

Mh, complaining apparently helps, it just connected again. Not sure what caused the problem or whether it will return, though. But for the time being feel free to close this thread.

In case somebody else runs into this problem: it appears that the camera is only recognized when a) the phone screen is turned on and b) the camera app is NOT running.

Only thing I noticed is sometimes the camera is all black, but quitting and re-opening it fixes it.

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue on the N10 as well or if I just got a fluke.
Front / Back camera worked for first 5 minutes out of the box. After going to a different application and trying to get back to camera, camera app fails to connect. Restart tablet, same problem. Force close gallery/camera app, wipe data/cache for the app and re-open. Same error, camera no longer displays at all.
Factory reset, camera works for a few minutes, try to open it again after leaving, crashes the same way. No third party apps can access camera either. Tried many factory resets, even with only gApps installed same camera prob.
Waiting for RMA now, but has anyone else run into this or something similar? :crying:

I had this exact problem on my galaxy nexus. I finally pinned it down to an app that controlled the LED (like a flashlight, or torch app). I removed it and it worked fine after that.
Yup looks to be a 3rd party app since it works after factory reset. I would reset it again but choose not to have it reinstall the apps automatically. Then just do the process of elimination until you find the problomatic app. Worth a shot.

Thanks for the advice but I've factory reset multiple times and have only gApps installed, same thing happens
I'm having the same problem, both front and back camera are not working properly. I'll try factory reset later this day.
Do you have the cameras working already?
I'm having the same issue too. Today's the first day with my Nexus 10, and right out of the box the Camera doesn't work. Never loaded even once.
Has anyone else had this issue and was able to fix it?
Same problem here! Do you think rooting and flashing CM might solve the issue?
Same here. It seems its only the stock camera tho. I installed 2 different cameras from Play Store & both those work perfect. Camera ICS+ & HDR+ both worked for me.

I tried these apps but it's still not working for me. Hope it's not hardware related. It worked the first day I had my nexus.
EDIT: Installing CyanogenMod solved the issue =)
EDIT 2: Well it actually solved it for just a day or two, now it's back!
I'm also having this issue too it seems. Created a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251337 and thought it was related to my rooting of the tablet since it worked okay before I tried that. Currently on 4.2.0 stock and OEM locked and the issues is still there, starting to think it's a hardware issue.

Definitely a hardware issue. I did an RMA with Google ...the new device they sent me has no issues.
Try that if your device is still under warranty! Google is pretty good at getting replacements sent to you within a week!
Turns out it wasn't a hardware issues, the problem I was having was apparently related to the sync of contacts which for some reason completely disabled the camera until such a time as the contacts were synced.
Ok...something strange is happening when I use snapchat. I take a picture and than the app closes by itself and the camera refuses to work until I reboot...any other camera app will just gove a can nit connect to camera message until I reboot. Ill reboot and any camera app works (stock/instagram) but as soon as I try snapchat again...it auto closes when I take a picture and suddenly the camera wont connect again.
The strangest part is it was working fine earlier...ive been using snapchat since I got the phone with no issues...so not sure whats up...ive uninstalled and reinstalled...so not really sure what else to do...anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else experience this? Do you think maybe its hardware??? I dont think its hardware cause it works fine until I use snapchat...but idk cant figure this one out
Also, I have done notging new to my phone...no nee apps, no new mods, no new updates...nothing so there really is no reason for this behavior. Ill try odin later but im away from my oc at the moment and just wanted to get other peoples input
Edit: snapchat appears to be working again...still strange that that happened...makes me worried as I dont know if it was the hardware or app failing

Fine for me. No issues no lag
I've had the same issue a couple times. It's really weird. It only happens on the rear camera (the 13MP good camera) and only in certain scenarios. I tried to take a picture of my hammock, it locked up and I had to shut down. I took a picture of the ground, no problems. Hammock again, locked up. Flash on/off, doesn't matter. Weirdest thing.
I think it might be the camera software switching between white balances automatically (no proof to back this up, but since it matters where I point the camera, it has to have something to do with what the camera is seeing and doing in response to the scenery) and SnapChat might not play well with one of the white balances.
I just now took a picture of my driveway from inside my house, no problem. Took a picture of the hammock in the yard, freeze up. There's a lot of green in the hammock shot, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Have you guys factory reset. First thing I did when I turned it on
My girlfriend's s4 is doing the same thing she only gets it on the front camera but can make it do it at will she says it when the camera first turns on and is focusing and adjusting the color of you take a pic before it settles down it does what the op said.

i think your hammock is cursed o.o and i have no issues. it works fine on both front and back cameras in snapchat/any other camera app.
sorry to bump an old post but did anyone ever find a solution to this problem, its been happening to me on my gs4 from verizon. It will work then all of a sudden it does the same thing with the camera and just exits the app?
Same deal on my Galaxy s4 that is barely a month old. Everything was working perfectly fine until a couple of days ago when I try to send snaps using the rear camera.
Goes something like this:
- Take photo with rear camera, app crashes
- Screen freezes at the Snapchat 'loading' screen OR nonfunctional camera within the app (whereas everything else works such as receiving incoming snaps)
- Rebooting works from time to time, but the problem is reoccurring
- Tried clearing cache/reinstalling the app, no luck
It's starting to really get on my nerves.
I had the same problem. Snapchat force closes and camera starts to fail. I contacted the snapchat team and reported the problem. I got a reply saying that they are working on it. Maybe you guys should send them an email too and explain the problem you guys are having.
I have the exact same issue. I've not been able to find a work-around.
snapchat freezes on videos that are longer then like 2-3 seconds it seems... then i have to restart again to get the camera back...
Nothing is wrong with your phones. Snapchat is an extremely ****tily programmed app. What do you expect from a terrible iOS port?
I might suggest Wink! as an alternative, but it doesn't support video, but meh.
Yeah I have the same problem. It's fricken ridiculous. When will they fix this?

I think it may have to do with using the CM/non TW camera.. Whenever I used it I experienced this very problem. Since I've gone back to TW, I have not..
Not always but a high percentage of the time if I'm using slow motion 240fps recording it ends at some point with the camera crashing and nothing can fix it other than a restart of the phone.
Is anyone else experienced this?
I can rma but I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Never had a problem the few times I've used 240. All stock software here

I'm in the same boat! hoping to find others who have this problem and get clear on whether it's a hardware or software issue. Mine first crashed when i tried loading 240fps slow-mo. restart was the only thing to get it going again. disabled google camera (which reverts to initial version), app updated back to latest, seemed to be fine when i went to 240fps mode, thought it was all resolved. then it came back again AFTER i recorded a slow-mo test at 240fps. When it's working (after restart) it works GREAT! but when this glitch occurs, can't do anything else with camera until I restart. I've attached screenshots of what it looks like when i try to take a pic after a crash.
I guess this is my window of opportunity to factory reset so I can unlock bootloader and root but would like to find a simpler solution if possible... anyone else out there with a similar issue?
tried uninstalling twilight and that seems to have stabilized things... fingers crossed
Same here if I zoom 100%. I called Google support and I have to RMA my 6P. :/
Here is the fix...Just upgrade your nexus 6p to Android N Beta through android beta program.
After updating to newest android version, my issue is gone.
Try this...it worked for me.

Are you completely stock? What camera app are you using? If Google Camera, what version? There is a known issue in version 3.2. If you're using 3.2, try rolling back to 3.1*** and see if that fixes the issue. If so, it's not a hardware issue.
Edit: Link for 3.1 http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-3-1-025-release/
Hi all,
I wondered if anyone is having the same issue as me. The camera app occasionally crashes but it's consistent when I switch to video mode from photo, then from 120FPS to 240FPS. I've found 9/10 the Camera app crashes and closes down. The error message is "Camera Error: can't connect to the camera".
When you re-launch the camera, it just shows a blank screen with a white camera icon and does nothing. The only way to fix it is by rebooting the phone. I've tried a couple of things, removed any other camera apps on the phone and cleared the data / cache from the camera app under installed applications. I'm trying to avoid a factory reset if I'm honest...but I'll do that as a final troubleshooting step, if it still happens I'll get it sent away as a hardware problem.
Feels more like a software issue to me, anyone else? My phone is UK branded 64GB model in Silver.
Thanks,
Danny

I had the same issue when i got my 6p in march, i had a 2015 build. I sent it back to o2 (uk) and my new one was a 2016 version and i have had no problems since. Check the bulld date
I'm running the latest July 9th build of PureNexus on my Rogers 6P. Latest vendor image and Camera APK from the store.
Systemless Root and Systemless XPosed, and 120/240 all work fine.

Yea you are correct place. It was a common issue on first release of the phone. The 2016 builds fix it.
See if you can RMA your device and get a 2016 build one.
is the device new or have you had it a long time

I'm facing the exact same issue. Got the phone this week and on latest version of android. This problem still exists. I see no solution other than returning this phone and getting it exchanged.
1. I am facing a, haptic feedback issue, auto brightness issue, and now another touch issue.
2. Was using youtube in landscape, and minimised the video, and then post that it did not register any touch. tapped on the video, youtube menus, nothing worked.
pressed home, reloaded the app, it worked again.
3. Was using Microsoft remote desktop app, the device rebooted itself. Opened the app again, again the device rebooted itself.
Should i go for a replacement?, am i using a faulty unit!
Seems more of a software issue. 1 is a known bug and 2 happens at times. 3 might have happened due to kernel panic. MS apps are not always well coded and up-to-date

So none of this is a major issue, and would resolve through an update?
I have 10 days to return the device, its only been 4. Was thinking to return it coz of all these issues.
