I'm using Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. My phone isn't rooted. I used Substratum Theme engine for Samsung and installed pitch black theme. After installing this theme I rebooted my phone and then it happened. After switching on my phone the lockscreen appears once for short time and then it turns into a black screen. Same thing happens in safe mode. But when I press power button in this situation the power menu shows up and works fine.

Too bad your phone isn't rooted, you could fix this in 3 seconds. Now you have to do factory reset from stock recovery and hope it will make it work.

Last night my XDA Mini S froze while using PIE, so I did a soft reset, put the phone down and went to sleep. Noticed this morning that it's stuck at the Windows Mobile splash screen - still in Landscape mode which is what I was using when PIE froze. Done another soft reset, same problem. My LEDs are flashing as usual, one green and the Bluetooth one.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ok, it started working for some reason - but I noticed when it got to my today screen that my NotesToday plugin wasn't there. I went into Settings > Today > Items, and NotesToday was ticked. I unticked it, clicked OK, then re-ticked it and it showed up again on my today screen. Fine. However now everytime I press the power button to come out of sleep mode, my Today screen flashed up fine for about 0.5 sec, then flashed white for a millisecond, then comes up fine EXCEPT the whole "top" bar (i.e. the part of the screen with Start button, clock, signal strength, etc) stays solid white, and I can't see any of those icons. Rest of the screen is fine. If I click Unlock, the whole screen is fine after that.
Help!
I had a similar problem with a different part of the screen staying white after coming out of hibernate (the O2 active UI sidepanel)...Hard reset fixed it and the problem hasn't returned (although I don't use the O2 UI now...)
If your device freezes on the Windows loading screen, then soft reset it and while it is loading the next time, press one of the hardware buttons, such as the D-pad or the green or red phone buttons, continually as it loads. This should keep the lights behind the buttons turned on, and it should load Windows without a problem.
Had the same error on my phone, I think it tries to hibernate as it loads Windows or something equally stupid. Pressing a button continually prevents this and allows it to load normally.
usually , after pressing the power button for a long time a vibration will happened and after tapping shut down button.
but after i changed my boot animation to Android [GEARS] Boot Animation , both vibration not functioning.
is it because the boot animation or some defects in my iconia ?

Would imagine it is the custom boot animation - but the vibration on power up happens before the custom boot animation loads, I think. Does the vibration work after booting and in apps?
yupp , it worked in apps , but only before reboot and after reboot was not functioning..
ohh damn , i cant know my Iconia is rebooted or not in darkness without vibration ! >.<
I'm pretty confident in saying that a boot animation will have absolutely no direct impact on the vibration motor or how it works.
I use Android[GEARS]v.2 and I get the vibration when I boot up and when the tablet shuts down (after tapping OK) and I haven't read anyone else having your issue so I suspect something else is going on with your tablet.
I've installed about 5 or 6 different boot animations including android gears on my A500, and have never encountered that problem. I would imagine that there is something else going on that just coincided with you rebooting your tablet. I even tried disabling haptic feedback in settings and rebooting to see if it killed the startup vibration but it still did it. You could try going in and deleting the bootanimation zip which should return you back to standard boot screen and see if the problem goes away, but my feeling is that thats not the cause.
thanks for the advice.
I appreciate any responses anyone has to help
Ok so i have my sisters samsung galaxy tab4 ( sm-t230nu ) which she brought to me today.
Her screen went black, lights up and all but it stays black in color. Up down volume buttons work and u can hear them working, power button works, turns screen on and off, TOUCH SCREEN WORKS, on certain areas u can hear the noise it makes when u tap on the screen and apps. I pressed the power button alone for it to restart, it restarts but does not show samsung tab logo or anything at all just lit up black screen. I even went on YouTube to memorize the hard reset sequence of buttons u have to press in order to complete the reset and i did manage to hard reset. But screen is still booting up on a lit black screen. I removed the back cover, unplugged the battery and tried booting it up and still nothing. BTW its full factory, no root roms or anything of the sort. I need help on what could be the problem. Only thing i believe might have caused this was a recent update on the system. My sister said a few days ago it gave her a notification about it and she clicked on yes. I dont know what version of android it had nor which it had updated to. Please help. Tablet is not that old. Thanks. If anything email me directly at [email protected] thanks

Have you tried getting into recovery or download mode? If those show, it's likely fixable. If you can get to recovery mode, it usually shows what firmware is on it. If that works, trying using ODIN to reinstall that firmware in download mode. If not, it sounds like a hardware problem. If it's not that old, it may be under manufacturer warranty still. Good luck.
Try to reseat the LCD cable, if it doesn't work, you may need to change the LCD. Search Ebay for LCD only or full LCD assembly if you're not comfortable to take out the touchscreen.

If tab has warranty claim warranty. I think this is a hardware issue.
I was casually using WhatsApp when the screen suddenly glitched for 2-3 seconds and then everything went black.
I googled the problem and apparently found out that this is called BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH. I've tried all the possible fixes including rebooting while pressing volume down and power button.
Only the led lights are flickering sometimes.
I am on rooted Android 9. I am using CR DROID 5.8 ROM .
Please help me !
(also I haven't flashed anything recently)
My Galaxy S8 64GB suddenly froze up and then went into a bootloop. Restarted couple of times and then black screen – with the LED notification light flashing blue. I haven’t been able to reboot or shut down. Volume down plus power button didn’t help either. Please help. I need to get this to turn on and recover data from this phone.
Please help.
