How do i get 7.0 on this tablet? - Huawei Mediapad M3 Questions & Answers

I just got this tablet from Amazon and it came with Android 6.0 and it says there is not an update available. How do I get stock 7.0 on it? I had read reviews that said it was updated which is one of the reasons I bought it.

I never got an OTA for 7 I had to use Firmware Finder in the play store. It found it, downloaded it and installed it.

Here’s how I upgraded. Reposted from another forum.
The update checker was a non-starter for me until I used it with firmware finder and bypassed having to use a micro+SD card in order to upgrade to EMUI 5. First, I picked the 2.5gb file option within firmware finder which is basically EMUI 5, chose the get an update using dns beta option. Added the dns address that firmware finder provided to my wifi settings by holding down your wifi, choosing modify network, tick advanced options, change settings to static, and then change the dns to the one provided by firmware finder. From there, it downloaded the file, but once finished it passed it on to Huawei's upgrader app and it took over from there. Just remember to remove the dns address from your wifi settings when finished. As I mentioned didn't need to use a SD card and once finished, checked the Huawei updator again and there was another small update available. I thought it was the easiest way to upgrade without having to do too many steps. Once the file was passed on to the Huawei upgrader, it did all the work.

Mediapad M3 Upgrade
Dear friend I have also bought these wonderful tablets these days, I have the same problem, so I installed "firmware finder" app so I can download the new firmware for emui 5.0 btv-w09c100b302, I do not know if the procedure is correct, light forums before upgrade, I would like someone to tell me if I can proceed safely with the upgrade, thank you

I posted how I did it above and it’s correct, and it’s safe. Follow the directions.

okay it's not super clear with Firmware Finder version 6.6 but I finally watched enough videos to figure it out.
Install Firmware Finder
Tap on your model number (should pop up right away at top)
Tap on latest FULL version
Check Firmware access
Tap IN-APP PROXY
Goto wifi settings and press hold your wifi
tap modify
show advanced
PROXY select manual
Proxy hostname: localhost
Proxy port 8080
save or connect
Go to Settings
system update
check for update. It should then show an update. Tap and let it download and install.
Edit: I do not recall having to change the DNS setting. I just checked and mine was still set to DHCP so I am sure I did not change it. Once done with update though do go back and remove the Proxy setting.

I got a BTV-W09C128B005 FW version (USA from Amazon). Updater didn't show any updates. I downloaded a two folder update. I unpacked them (.zip) and put on an SD card under 'dload'. I pressed the vol up/ vol down and power to start the update. It worked and went to BTV-W09C128B350. I then deleted the contents of the 'dload' folder on the SD card, and replaced them with the unpacked USA data upgrade files. The data folder included a lot of app .apks including one called 'bluetooth'. The force update for the 2nd set of files took very little time, and it didn't seem to do anything. It didn't update or install any apps from the data folder, and the vers. stayed at B350. Now bluetooth won't turn on, and the 'update' app is missing from the 'settings' menus. I can't use the other update methods because they use the missing update app.
Huawei cust. support chat assured me that the Android 7 update (OTA) would arrive if I was patient enough. (6 months, yeah right.)
I'm returning this to Amazon to start over. This time I'm going to try other methods that use the updater app, or log into the PC program HiSuite to see if it pushes the update properly.

You chose the complicated way to upgrade. My input ( above ) for how to upgrade is a lot easier and is less riskier as Huawei's upgrade software is involved. Your call, but if you hit a brick wall on other ways to upgrade, consider my suggestion.

Thanks dude (@b4u2), worked like a charm!

Looked like security patches and bug fixes to me. They installed after I did the full update. I really like this tablet now that it's on 7.0

Did they installed without the app Firmware Finder ?
I like it too with Android 7.0 , despite all the bloatware apps (I'm coming from a Nexus 7).

For me they installed without firmware finder. Right after first boot, I went to System Settings, and the Update section showed the OTA update. It installed 2. Only thing disappointing is that they haven't released an update to fix KRACK yet.

I stupidly tried an SD card method first, and ended up with an upgraded tablet with no Bluetooth and keyboard issues. Finally got back to original state and followed @callanish method. Worked beautifully and easily. Anyone else looking to update, I'd suggest this easy method that works. Thanks @callanish! (seriously registered here just to say thanks)

I wasn't so lucky: I had to install it with Firmware Finder (only the one of ~500MB).
Can you please tell me which security patch level do you have ?
I have those of May 2017.

That's what I have, May if 2017. I also used firmware finder and to my knowledge, that's the newest available for this tablet.

I did this too, because the instructions in FF app were crap for the other methods. I found the SD card method and ran with it. It didn't put the USA data files on that included the keyboard and bluetooth, and updater app.
I had to return mine to Amazon and try again using the DNS / Updater app method on FF. This time it worked great! This tablet is sooo much better with updated launcher and Android 7.
How on earth did you get it back to original state without sending it back?

I think there is a security patch level more recent than May '17.
I got my US version with the B005 FW vers. It had a SP level of something like Aug '17 (I don't remember exactly, but it after May of this year.)
It showed no updates in the updater app, but I upgraded it using FF app, and now it says May '17 for the SP level.
I don't think Huawei ever intended US versions to get the Android 7 update because it doesn't comply with current SP levels.

Hi all, I have a question, when I open Firmware Finder I have a list of 4 FullOTA (see attached screenshot), all with the same release date, how can I choose the right one?

@fidrat I worded that poorly. I used the same technique you did, started with a new one.

I also live in Belguim, I am on B331 but I have not received the update? Anything special you did to get this update?
tnx man
any news for mt-tl10?
Hello!
I'm new on this forum, but I realy like your work! My questions is: I'm now on B511 version of android 6.0; is it possible to update to this version (B522)? Or what would be the proper way to do it? I'm from Slovenia, Europe and my phone is MT7-L09.
Thanks guys!
Are we sure we will not hear this is the beta in a few days?
Sure it's not a beta? If so, what version I have to be to receive the Ota?
Can any one explain if you need to reinstall the device ? will all data be deleted ?
Can also some one explain on what version you need to be on to be able to update ?
I am on B331 currently (L09)
What about tl10?
I don't understand a single word from this german site.Do we need b513 to update with b522? Or it just can be updated from b331? Is this final ota official? Or just another beta build? For sure its for L09\2GB version thats only clear thing in text. Can anyone explain is it better than b513 and is there anything new? Is update menu in settings back?

I agree there is some questions to be answered...
Also more confirmation if this is official and final...
Why I ask this is cause Huawei support around the glob is crap, I would only trust chinese support.
For instance I asked 2 months ago Huawei support in sweden when he thought Marshmallow would be released
he said that it has already been released in some markets... if the confirmation comes from china I trust it but not otherwise
since Huawei only have "fake support " in most countries where they will tell you to please restart your mobile phone and re install the phone etc besides that they do not know a ****

The next final marshmallow update is coming up. This time is the extremely popular Mate 7 with Android 6.0 and 4.0 EMUI. It bears the name:
MT7-L09C432B522
On demand, Huawei has informed us that it is the final version for MM Mate. 7
The series join because both the P8 lite, the Mate S, the P8 and also the honor 7 have been supplied ? from the Far East with the coveted sweetness named Marshmallow (which is incidentally also excellent reintun for the hot cocoa. Huawei adopt because already a lot trouble, even though there are times comes in this context to the prophets of doom. this we hear but studiously and look forward rather than a working device.
The now presented and distributed via OTA update is of course again rolled out in waves. Your can watch the way with your wireless display introduced in about, first very little and in the end, more and more. The duration, the amount of time so that a rollout takes total to complete, until all are supplied is given always different. You should there but so get in the next two weeks. Of course it may be that Huawei first the BETA User supplied and brings the update shaft for rolling only after. Can not say or verify, as we currently know precisely only by a BETA users who we so firmware received update for its mate. 7 Thanks to the context of wool!
You will definitely be the next time the marshmallow update on your Mate 7 (in the branded devices such as Vodafone or Deutsche Telekom can take a little longer). It may of course be that the full version then has more MB than that which is currently provided to the BETA testers via OTA. Our version was approved by the MT7-L09C432B513 installed Coming. This should therefore be a prerequisite. If you can no longer wait or want, then flash your device manually, are but you aware of the dangers. It could be that your device after running bad, or not at all. Never change a running system. ? But as we now already know you, our warnings are you can not stop and you will not be able to leave. but Ok, then start please with here:

maybe this update is not compatible with the Marshmallow beta version ?
This is a update version and not full version so some one really need to clarify which versions that are compatible with this update!
Any chance some one who has it could do a clean twrp backup and maybe put on mega, it would be muchly appreciated.

Hi everyone, My phone is Mate 7 TL-09 and firmware was B513 till yesterday I've got B522 notification and installed it. I installed Huawei ID and Huawei Cloud app, so I think, maybe, I got OTA update because of that. These two allow you to backup contacts, notes, ... to your Huawei cloud.
Huawei Cloud+ app: https://mega.nz/#!KVNzzaDL!AOVdRCttM27utV7N937zM__GSZxpyNvRjCtu0itQR1wL
Huawei ID app: https://mega.nz/#!3EdS0L4K!U8cBJw1kB-qlvQF838W-id78vFDMKQeKOyJ2_F1bJ_U
Also my B513 firmware was rooted and my phone recovery was twrp 2.8.7 mobopx tool.
In Notification of B522 update it said it's Full version, first it showed me a 1.22 GB File and I got a backup and return and it was 486 MB.
B522 download link: https://mega.nz/#!GRlzxJZS!x_dSYDOIofOQD-NeoIZ8sT2V6SvtgnPfNkMDKtBCt2g
The changes are: some minor bug fixes, "Backup" and "health"app added, still missing local update and a little phone smoother.
For installing of B522, it says your phone should not be rooted so I unroot and installed stock recovery of android 6 using mpbopx tool. Then downloaded and using automatic install and it reset two times and installed without any error. I installed twrp again and "supersu 1.64 pro.zip" helped me to root again. I've created a nandroid backup, upload in progress.

Well it would be nice if we could get better information for us normal people and non-hackers and rooters too ?
In fact all people who have waited for final marshmallow version do not care about any of that staff that is why we did not install the beta.
So leet keep all this "root" talk in another thread. The final version seem to be here so lets instead discuss what versions that are compatible with this official update.
I have never got any updates pushed on OTA so I most install this manually

Bluetooth issues - how to solve them?

My new A2017G B08 has no problem finding and connecting with my old LG G2 - but when trying to connect it with my trusty Bluetooth speaker, the Axon doesn't even see it. And while I can find the Axon within just 1-2 seconds from my PC with a BT-Stick, the other way around the Axon doesn't see the PC.
I can life with not finding the PC, but what can I do to make it work with the speaker? The G2 has no issues with that either so the speaker's bluetooth does work.
Go into settings/location and ensure high accuracy is selected. It can improve bluetooth scanning.

That didn't help. Still, the speaker does not show up when searching for devices.
had the same issue ! b09 fixed it
Mine was fine on B04 and B08 and is still fine on B09 but I don't use any old BT speakers, most devices are fairly new. The car stereo is probably the oldest. It dates back to 2010 with a 2012 firmware update on the BT module.

Well, B08 is the latest version I'm getting via OTA update. I guess if nobody else comes up with a solution/tips that might work there's nothing I can do but wait for (hopefully) an Android 8 update that has the issue fixed for my device

Don't rely on OTAs... If your bootloader is locked just go to the download center, download the B09 zip, put it in the internal storage and go to the Updates tab, it should appear there
Yeah, if I waited for an OTA my phone would still be on Marshmallow. They had problems with OTA and stopped doing them and advised to do SD updates so you have to download. Could be that a SD update may fix it.
Even then, the latest on the Australian web site is B04. I got B08 from Germany and B09 from Switzerland. It's an international ROM. I don't download from anywhere but ZTE websites.
We rely on other XDA members finding the updates and posting here that it's available.

Guys, I have no idea how to do that and although I did root my G2 I'm not feeling very comfortable updating to anything but the official version for my German Axon 7. Meaning, if updating to the swiss version I'm pretty sure I'd lose my warranty.
Also, I'd need a very basic step by step instruction without too many technical terms (and a link to where to get the file) to feel save enough to do it. It's just that I cannot afford another phone should something go wrong.
So, I'd totally be interested in doing an update to a new firmware version since that might possibly indeed fix my problem (and possibly 1-2 others I have with the phone) - but I'm scared to brick it/lose warranty. Any thoughts on that?
EDIT: I've just checked the ZTE website for downloads and I'm a bit confused... version B10 was Android 6 and version B08 is Android 7.1? So... version B09 is older than mine? Is that what you were suggesting, going back to an older version? Can I even update backwards? Usually devices say something like "The software installed on your device is already the newest version" or something along those lines whenever trying to install a previous software version.
EDIT 2: Found "AXON 7(ZTE A2017G )SD card software package(344070B1405ZTE A2017GV1.2.0B09)N Version" on the ZTE website - but what does "N version" mean? Mine says on its back "ZTE A2017G".

You're confusing everything... That is not swiss, it's international. The only thing that COULD void your warranty is unlocking the bootloader, and in some cases people have been able to still claim hardware warranty on their phones by saying that they have not touched the hardware. Also, ZTE provides those updates.
If something happens (it would be basically your fault, such as trying to update with 10% battery or updating with an A2017 or A2017U package) and your phone stops working, just call ZTE and claim warranty. Their update method failed, etc. etc. Although it is borderline impossible to mess up your phone with the stock update method... I think it even tells you that you can't update with less than X% of battery.
The updates are as follows: A2017GV1.0.0B01 to B11 was Marshmallow, and then came A2017GV1.2.0B01 to B09 which is Nougat. I have thought many times that it would have been a lot better if they called them, say, M11 and N09. But this is what we have.
It's not hard at all: Go to the Guides section, there you will find Raystef66's download center. Download the file called A2017G-N-B09 (??), NOT the one under "TWRP flashable Bootstack/Stocksystem images". Those won't work.
After it gets downloaded, connect your phone to the PC. allow MTP transfer from the phone. "Internal Storage" should appear as a folder. If you have an SD card it will appear as another folder beside that on your PC. Open Internal storage. Now that is called the root of the internal storage, where all the folders are located. Just take the zip and throw it there, outside of all the folders (outside of DCIM, Android, and all those).
Then go to the phone, Settings, Update, and select the update.
@RobboW @Choose an username... (thank you very much for writing down all the information on updating the phone!)
Ok, so I did the update directly downloaded from their website. The update worked - indeed though, as somebody else has mentioned elsewhere, the phone now seems slightly slower to react to inputs when scrolling/tapping through the menu. Anyways, that's besides the point.
I tried connecting to the speaker, but still, it does not show up when searching for devices. Interestingly though I tried to make a new connection from my old phone (where I had deleted the connection) and the G2 now also can't find it (although it worked fine when the connection was already set up).
I'm back to trying to get one or the other device connected again. If nothing works, I guess I'm screwed then.

Can you find the speaker with your PC?
Did you actually go into the PC's bluetooth settings to allow it to be visible?

Sure, I did that when trying to connect it to the PC.
Anyways, I was trying 10-15 more minutes and don't ask me how or why... I did nothing different from all the times before but I finally was able to find the speaker on the Axon 7 and set up the connection. After that I wanted to connect the Axon 7 to the G2 - and while the G2 found the A7 within a second, the A7 did not see the G2. And after that I also tried to connect the G2 again with the speaker which worked as well.
So, all that's left is connecting the PC to the BT speaker - but I guess that's no topic for this forum.
So, thank you guys for your contribution, without I might have given up a few days ago already. Now I made it and have an updated phone. :good:

Sure, I did that when trying to connect it to the PC.
Anyways, I was trying 10-15 more minutes and don't ask me how or why... I did nothing different from all the times before but I finally was able to find the speaker on the Axon 7 and set up the connection. After that I wanted to connect the Axon 7 to the G2 - and while the G2 found the A7 within a second, the A7 did not see the G2. After I also tried to connect the G2 again with the speaker and that worked as well.
So, all that's left is connecting the PC to the BT speaker - but I guess that's no topic for this forum.
So, thanks for you guys for your contribution, without I might have given up a few days ago already. Now I made it and have an updated phone. :good:

Semi-updated... you on B08?
The latest security patch is Dec. 1 and it's on B09. Just informing if you decide to update again

As I had mentioned I was on B08 before the update. I'm on B09 now.
Good stuff, my next suggestion was going to be if you have an option to reset the speaker. No need now.
Sometimes you could get stuck with too many pairings. It's good to delete un-needed pairings on the phone but on a speaker you generally can only reset.

Yeah, I thought of that too and searched the manual for it - but didn't find anything. Then I tried several button press combinations while on or while turning it on... you know, sometimes they simply don't put every function in the manual. But nothing seemed to do it. Or maybe it did - how would I know, it has no display.
But anyways, it works and that's all that matters
@ Eiion,
Have you fixed your phone's problem? I experience the same problem, so have you try other different PC and Bluetooth?
Delete all synced devices in bluetooth list. Then try to sync your device. Seems to work for me.

BND-L21 UK Honor 7X - full Oreo OTA updates OK in Firmware Finder

Hi, UK Honor 7x owner. Had it direct from Honor when it first came out.
I was on BND-L21C432B101 when I first bought it and the only update I could get to update in Huawei firmware finder was the B102 update - I did that update a good while ago and never got any updates via the official update checker and no other update in firmware finder was OK to install via the "check firmware access" .
I have been hitting check for updates many times over the last week but no show. So feeling reckless I set firmware finder to full OTA only and the Oreo update was listed - checked via the "check firmware access" and it said it was OK to install. So set the auto DNS-VPN option and the phone updater picked up the full Oreo OTA (2.47gb BND-L21C432CUST432D2B330 (8.0.0.330)) and it downloaded fine, did a verification OK, then some other check that seem to fail - but I disabled the Firmware Finder VPN and hit to check again and all OK, reboot and it did the update and now on Oreo
Oreo works fine. My impressions (note I use nova launcher prime so my home screen looks and works the same as before).
Pretty underwhelming, 3 advantages. 1) latest security update. 2) face unlock (but it's a bit hit and miss) so finger print unlock is still the way to go. 3) Nav bar hide function - but a bit clunky as it doesn't auto hide. 4) treble support but no really solid ROMs to try yet so a bit niche
And that's about it! So if your stuck without Oreo at the moment then don't get too stressed out unless you absolutely can't survive without the latest security update.
I had heard H7 Oreo was treble compliant - and a checker says it is but not seamless updates (two partition requirement).
Cheers
So does it all work as expected then mate? Just downloaded it via your method, haven't installed yet though.
EDIT: No worries, works like a charm. Thanks man.

Make sure you are running the VPN in firmware finder, should have no problems then.

I tried the auto and manual through DNS and still download failed. I also tried the in-app proxy and still fails to download. But when I press on download from the FF app, it's downloading fine. But I'm not sure how install it that way.

Suspect you would need to use a custom recovery after the update has been extracted. I can only point you at my original post for doing it the way I did it. Using the auto-dns VPN option worked for me. I assume the firmware finder servers must suffer some overload sometimes perhaps? Perhaps try at a completely different time of day you have tried before? Are you using mobile data or home BroadBand WiFi?

Any of you tried connecting into a VPN whilst tether to this device?
I know Samsung devices won't allow you to when data savings is enabled, but I can't get it to work on this device.
Tempted to unlock the bootloader and put LineageOS but I've read it reduces the battery life significantly
I've found an update to 8.0.0.331, but that is for the L21C10. Not sure what the difference is compared to the L21C432

P9 Lite - VNS-L31C432B226 to Nougat

Hi guys!
Recently, one of the users of my app reported an issue with his Huawei P9 Lite VNS-L31C432B418. It's impossible to him to use my app, network calls are blocked in the app, the app won't connect to my backend endpoints for no reason. Logging is quite unclear, so it's hard to reproduce this issue.
Because of my dedication and urge to fix this issue, I ordered an Huawei P9 Lite on Amazon. (amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B01DYN5OLE) It got delivered today, installed my app and woosh... Everything was working fine. The phone came with VNS-L31C432B160/EMUI 4.1.3; but the user of my app is using P9 Lite VNS-L31C432B418/EMUI 5.0.4. Hitting the "check for updates" did not result in receiving any update (Thanks Huawei!) so I started looking around the internet. I prefer to use exactly the same build version because I want to reproduce this (hard) issue.
So far so good, I used Firmware Finder to incrementally update to VNS-L31C432B226. I'm quite new in these firmware-hacks and tried installing the VNS-L31C432B418 version, but I got stuck at the 5% progress indicator. Using Firmware Finder on my PC, it checked that I'm able to install versions with G 2190 and g 1789. These params do not tell that much for me... Currently, I'm stuck at VNS-L31C432B226 as this is the last one that has G 2190 and g 1789. All the other ones have G 190 and g 1755, are these for other devices as the one I have since I am not able to install these ones?
Someone who can help me in order to get VNS-L31C432B418? Is this even possible on my device?
Thanks in advance, kind regards
Joren

Hi Joren,
sorry if i ask but the weird (B226) update you done is android 6 or 7 ?
Starting from B160, you should have chosen B370 FULLOTA-MF-PV
to upgrade to android 7, then to latest B418...

Hi, thanks for your reply! My device gotdelivered with version B172...
Today, I got an update to VNS-L31C432B228! This version is not visible in Firmware Finder... Any ideas how to update to Nougat?
Is it possible to force the update? I always get the message that the update is not compatible with my version.

Ok,
use the app, same method and choose B370 FULLOTA-MF-PV.
It's 1.99 gbyte - date 21/03/2017 - G 753 - g 104.
Into my PC version of FF i see (2) two versions, looks the same, try one or the other..
If you will succeed you can update to the latest firmware (B418)..

It seems to be the same URL for those two entries. Note that it's in fact a "downgrade", the "v" value is 80460. My device got delivered with B172 (which is also not found in FF), B173 is already 110304... Currently, B228 is also not visible in the list, B227 is 143951.

I'd like to wipe the current firmware instead op updating/upgrading it, but I've already done lots of research, some docs are so outdated that they're not relevant anymore. Any clear steps on how to force install the version instead op upgrading it?

Tried in the app, it told me that B370 "The firmware is not approved for installation". B418 is approved (FullOTA-MF), so:
- I've downloaded the firmware (3 files)
- Setup in-app proxy
- Change wifi proxy to localhost:8080
- Check for updates, update is available
- Switch back to wifi, disable proxy
- Download update
- Install
Same story, update is incompatible... So I think I'm still doing something wrong while changing the firmware instead of upgrading. For me, the tutorials are skipping essential steps. Or I might have received a f*cked up device. Why on earth is it so hard to update, thanks Huawei..

Yup, but that one: "Most likely, the firmware was removed from the server".
The other ones with B370 are both telling "The firmware is not approved for installation".
I'm testing all the FullOTA-MF-PV's, they are all telling "The firmware is not approved for installation". Some of the "FullOTA-MF" do show the message that they are available. What's the difference between the "-PV"?

That version is used to upgrade to android 7 from 6.
Maybe the version you updated before (B226/B228) don't allow you to upgrade.
Downgrade to B160 and redo your steps..
How to do this ?
Download THIS FILE, extract update.app, create a folder and name it DLOAD.
Put update.app into that folder and put the folder into your SD card.
Turn off the device then reboot holding vol+ & vol- & power buttons together
until flashing starts then release them...

Back to B370,
skip the verify access firmware, go directly to 'get an update via dns',
tap ok, select 'auto' dns method and tap change dns.

I don't know what's wrong with this device.
I've downgraded my device to B160 (66015), tried upgrading to B370 80460, 80466, 80582, all with the same result: Incompatibility with current version. The only version I'm able to upgrade to is 80562, which is B210. From that point, Firmware Finder suggests that it should be possible to update to the B370 builds, but every time, "Incompatibility with current version".
The only B370 that I was not able to try is the one you're suggesting in your comment. That one gives a 404 so I'm not able to download that one (92405). Any other suggestions...?

Sorry dude have you tried skipping the firmware access ?
Could we have missed something in the procedure ?
If this doesn't work, try opening the FF app and from the main menu select 'instructions'.
Video and text guides will open. You can try the update with HiSuite
or with eRecovery or as a last resort you could try the one with a TWRP,
but for this you will have to unlock the bootloader and
it would cost you some time and an additional 4 € ...
Please Note: I have never upgraded from A6 to A7 with this device via twrp,
you do this at your own risk ...

With B160, install firmware finder on your phone.
Add model as VNS-L31C432
Settings > Show firmware for this region only and Show full OTAs only.
Check firmware approval one or two times. (Make sure you've provided phone permission for firmware finder)
Get an update via DNS and it'll turn on vpn.
Check for updates and download.
I can help you on teamviewer if you still can't make it work.
I think that the firmware I need is the one that returns a 404 when trying to download. I've already done successful firmware approval several times for builds that won't install after all. Only the fact that it's such a mess to get updates for this device makes me really frustrated. What if I was a "dummy" owner of this device? I should never be able to get the updates I'm looking for. It's just impossible without doing too much effort or rooting the device. For me it's really important to have the original firmware of Huawei and not a custom rom, because I have to investigate the issue of my app user, which is device-specific. How complicated can it be to provide a solid update platform. Huawei, please.
I've decided to ship this piece of sh*t back to Amazon. Ordered a second hand Huawei P9 Lite that has already the build VNS-L31C432B418. Thank you guys for all the effort in trying to help me getting Nougat on this device, unfortunately it seems to be impossible.

Downgrade question - possible upgrade upon restart?

Hey all,
I am very much willing to wipe my phone to do a downgrade.
I have the OP8 Pro, unrooted (never rooted/never unlocked bootloader).
The scenario I see is - I downgrade my phone to 10.15.13 (I have the INAA modell). I'm sure at some point the phone will check for an OTA.
My question - Is it all possible for the phone to upgrade itself if it restarts?
Meaning, is there a time limit that the update is sitting in the queue waiting for the user to press reboot to install? Or can I just somehow figure out a way to silence the system notification of an update pending?
Not sure if that makes sense but my hope is to just go back to 10 and enjoy certain things that just worked out better for me unrooted vs 11 unrooted until some things are ironed out.
Thanks for your time.
No you would need to initialise the upgrade, unless you have automatic updates on.
You would have seen the initial installation begin.
Least that's my experience of it. The update is stored on the phone so you may also be able to delete it.
Turn off automatically download updates.
I downgraded using the special firmware I found (couldn't find official to do it ) and then installed the official EU/UK firmware straight after with no problem

Nice - noted. I think I can start my search as well. Looking to do this tonight.
