How to revert rooted XT1572 on Nougat to unrooted stock rom - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am looking for a way to revert my rooted XT1572 to unrooted state.
I guess I just need to flash a stock rom. But I have the impression there are no stock roms released for the XT1572.
Flashing to stock marshmallow and next upgrading via OTA to nougat might have been a solution. But I read several messages that downgrading to MM and next updating via OTA will brick the phone?
Seems to me that I am stuck with my current rom? Or is possible to flash an XT1575 stock rom on a XT1572? (I don't care about future OTOA's). I am just trying to revert it to a little more 'default status' before selling the device.

Some added info:
Currently my build number says:
NPHS25.200-15-3
Googling this number directed me to following page:
http://guofeng.io/moto-x-style-7-0-xt1572_clark_retla_ds_7-0_nphs25-200-15-3-official-package-root/
There I find following file:
XT1572_CLARK_RETLA_DS_7.0_NPHS25.200-15-3_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Would it be reliable to flash this to my device? Or should I also pay attention to other things?

Only for:
Latin America, Dual Sim.
Do you have twrp?
Magisk? SuperSu? Stock Twrp's backup?

You cannot take the Nougat update once you go back to MM. It will hard brick your phone. You kind of have to be on the same security path from what I read. Google has started to not let you downgrade do to security reasons. Sorry I have a MXPure but it almost identical as how to.....except for firmware. To unroot the phone completely you need the stock firmware associated with the phone or a stock unrooted TWRP.img.

Have TWRP, Magisk but stock backup (shame on me).
I wouldn't if the stock rom is from a different region but I guess a stock rom for dual sim will not work on a device with only one sim.

Would it be an option to use someone else TWRP backup?

If you didn't modify system partition - simply unroot with magisk manager app & format data/f.reset with twrp.
Stock recovery - you should ask here(or another thread) - maybe someone will upload it(can done with flashfire app).
I didn't see any backup for xt1572(Nougat). @blondie99

Thanks

Oneplus TWO A2003: convert OxygenOS 3 Beta to HydrogenOS (ALL STOCK)

Hi guys,
my Oneplus TWO is totally stock (no ROOT, nor Recovery, locked bootloader).
I just want to ask how could I "convert" it to original HydrogenOS, with working OTA feature.
Is there any procedure to follow? Is it possible or I need to unlock IT and flash a custom HydrogenOS firmware?
Edit:
Fist unlock the booloader, easy step.
Download specific OxygenOS 3.0 TWPR and SuperSU available here:
- [ROM][OTA][Oxygen OS] Mirrors for official Oxygen OS ROMs and OTA updates
Install Recovery and SuperSU.
So now you are able to flash any firmware.

Thanks for your reply.
So, I just need to unlock my phone, install TWRP compatible with MM (link) and follow instruction for HydrogenOS.
But, as I understood, OTA is not available.

If you don't flash the Debloater+SuperSU zip you may get OTAs but you won't have root and you'll have a pile of Chinese apps.
I don't really get why OTA updates are so important anyway.

If you are in H2OS and that there is an update you will need to flash the full rom(if you are root) it's recommended to clean flash if you flash a full rom but you can use titanium backup otherwise i think dirty flash full rom will be fine
Hi, mission completed!
I've unlocked bootloader.
I used specific OxygenOS 3.0 TWPR and SuperSU available here:

Thanks guys.

Updating to Marshmallow on OF1

Been off this thread for awhile (you know how life gets in the way) and was wondering if there are any meaningful upgrades to an S4 with 1545VRUGOF1 rooted via Flashfire. with stock.

If you want marshmallow, then custom ROMs are the only way to get it.
Which s4 do you have? Isn't flash fire for the i337?

SCH-1545
Android 5.0.1
I545VRUGOF1
At the time, Flashfire was the only path to root
Look here for a possible answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon
Any guidance? I have the VRUGOF1 Bootloader and consequently was only able to root with Flashfire. Not sure if there has been any development to allow Marshmallow to be put on this device

Yes, there are ROMs for that device. But you can only flash with a custom recovery so you'll have to find one.
Look in the Verizon forum. This forum is for the international version of the s4.

Maybe I'm not being clear, but I was uder the impression if you have the OF1 Build you can only root with Flashfire, and, you cannot install CWM or TWRP as it will brick your device. I am not looking to add another ROM, I am fine with stock. My goal is to see if there is a way to go from Lollipop to Marshmallow safely given my specific device parameters

If you can't install any custom recovery, then there isn't any way you can.
There is no official TouchWiz Marshmallow ROM for the S4, as such, the only way to get marshmallow is through a custom ROM.
A custom ROM can only be flashed via custom recovery.
Ergo, if you can't flash a custom recovery, there is no way to get marshmallow.
The Verizon OF1 bootloader is locked and not exploitable. Only the MDK bootloader had that luxury. You also cannot downgrade to it. If you want to flash a ROM other that stock head to the Verizon Galaxy S4 development forum and read up on SafeStrap and ROMs that can be installed with it. A custom recovery such as TWRP is not able to be installed on your device. Because of that ROMs such as CM, JDC custom ROMs, etc. are out of reach for you.

Thanks
So to summarize, since I am on the OF1 build and could only root via Flashfire, the bootloader remains locked...consequently I still cannot flash TWRP or CWM, and as you put it, out of luck to get Marshmallow.
However, has anyone successfully used Flashfire and Xposed? I saw it on another thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/406o9w/verizon_galaxy_s4_unlocked_bootlaoder/
but there was no definitive conclusion that it was successful. Anyone have any direct experience with this? Since Safestrap and Flashfire are both custom recoveries installed alongside of your locked bootloader, do either work to get to Marshmallow?

You are a little confused. SafeStrap is not a custom recovery so to speak, TWRP is. SafeStrap allows the installation of some mods, etc. on devices with a locked BL. A quick look in the Verizon S4 Android Development forum does not show a MM build that can be installed via SS, only LP builds.
The issue with a locked BL and SS is you cannot install a different kernel which limited what could be installed.
I saw a set of OF1 instructions out on Stang5litre's OP for his ROM. Has this been validated as a stable rom for those of us on OF1?

Flashing Nougat with TWRP without losing TWRP

Hi, newbie question here. I just got my Axon 7. Unlocked the bootloader. Installed TWRP. Made full nandroids of stock and rooted firmwares.
I would like to flash the new Nougat update. What would be the best way to accomplish this without losing TWRP? and what is the correct firmware to use? ota? Also can nougat be rooted? Just dont want to brick my new phone. Thanks
No TWRP flashable file yet.....but I'm sure it'll be soon.
You will need to be on the Nougat bootstack, but you'll have to search for that info.

nougat

Hi all,
Noobie questions sorry.
I have a xt1625 us retail version and I'm getting prompted to take the OTA nougat update.
However, I have unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed so it fails.
1) Is the stock nougat available as a zip?
2) Is my best option to relock bootloader and go back to stock recovery, in order to take the OTA?
3)Is there a stable custom rom that is preferable?
Thanks very much
update;
I reflashed the stock firmware using fastboot and the 16 ish commands needed.
After this I took the OTA update without issues.
You can re root your phone and reinstall twrp now.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
Yes. bootloader remains unlocked, so I can root later.
for now I am satisfied, stock rom isn't too bloaty

From Nougat to MM for recovery

I have Custom ROM stock nougat
Can I install only the MM bootloader, do full wipe, and install a custom MM ROM, just for recovery?
Downgrade for recovery?
I'm confused about what you want to achieve, are you asking if you can downgrade to stock marshmallow from stock Nougat, to flash a custom marshmallow ROM?
If so, you could downgrade, but I would strongly recommend not using OTA updates on the stock marshmallow ROM if you downgrade, else you may hard brick your device. In most cases, you can't downgrade the bootloader in fastboot.
I'm not sure what you are asking for about recovery, can you elaborate?

You can even stay on nougat firmware, there's no need to downgrade as nougat is official released and available for all countries
