"Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" won't stop popping up. So frustrating.
The phone is brand new, I just got it in yesterday and had it only for a day.
I was using swype, and just uninstalled it, and when I rebooted the phone, that error keeps popping up and won't go away, making it unable for me to use the phone.

I guess that's my last resort. Damn
Edit: How would I even factory reset it? I literally can't use the phone. It's bricked. And in the recovery mode menu there is no option to factory reset. (tried pressing power and volume up)
If your phone is still locked, save the data (if needed) via adb and unlock it. But there could be easier way.

go to gmail account settings and sync everything. Google play will have your apps backup but not app data. Save all music, pics and files that you dont want to lose to your computer. Then just go to backup and reset in your settings menu and select Factory Data reset.
if that doesnt solve your problem you might have to use fastboot to reinstall the Jellybean.

I've had something similar to this on my G2x at one point; Android keeps popping up with errors and you can't do a single thing but reboot...which ends up erroring the same way when you're back in in an endless loop.
OP, you'll have to wipe and reinstall. If you've rooted it and enabled USB debugging then you're golden. If not, you'll have to go through several hoops to flash a factory image.
This link should help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016395
Several users have managed to invoke ADB commands.

I have go launcher. After changing a wallpaper it starts the system ui loop pop up.
So after the restart I went to settings to come back to default launcher.
No more pop up
Tell me if it works with you...

Yes. Maybe he didn't restore the default keyboard before removing.

I read on github (after i posted here) is a Know issue for PAC and why!!! Just strange, V05 was released weeks ago, why sooo long for issue to submerge... And no issues with V01-V04

I am having this situation right now for my Nexus 4 (running stock 4.2.2 and installed Quick Settings mod from kevdliu, use the ROM for a long time and one day want to wipe all, after wiping, and reboot system I got this) and I think I figured out the solution: Wait until the battery is exhausted and automatically turned off, then put it into the charger for some time. Then pull it out of the charger, press volume up + down + power to get into fastboot. From here, we can wipe all and flash a new rom, or restore to stock rom, or do anything fastboot can do.

why install quick settings when stock 4.2.2 comes with its own form of quick settings? I'm willing to bet that's your problem!

you haven't used stock 4.2.2 have you? Its quick settings is so frustrating, it always takes me to Settings to turn on or off Wifi. I want a quick Settings that takes only one click to turn on or off Wifi, so I have to install that mod. Btw, I'm still waiting for the battery to die

hey i know this thread was already answered but i found that this messaged popped up after changing some settings for the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. i didnt want it on my screen because i kept clicking either the back button or the home button which was very frustrating. so i tried to turn it off..that didnt work so instead i set all of the buttons to empty and the visibility to 0% and only after tracing back the steps i took (having to click the ok button for the stupid message about 80 times) i finally managed to find out that the navigation bar was the problem. hope you guys are able to fix your problem as simply as i did without doing anything drastic.

I recently had this issue and determined also that it must be something with my status/notification bar as it seemed to resize the screen to show the bar and then immediately resized it again as it displayed the System UI message. I use both Wanam and XBlast and disabled those as well as all Xposed modules. I also disabled Nova Launcher as default and rebooted. Re-enabled all and rebooted again and problem was resolved. Hopefully this will help others as well.

Hi I have huawei ascend y511 and after disabling google keyboard i turned off phone and put it back on. This happened. Help me please, How do I get it back to normal? If I factory reset, will it work? Or should I let the battery drain out and do something. I can't do anything on my phone now because I can't even press anything because of the really frequent pop out of "system ui has stopped" . Help please.
I use a Galaxy Note 3 I9505 which is rooted with towelroot. I have SuperSU and XPosed installed. Since yesterday I noticed that the statusbar icon colors that I'd changed using XBlast (Alarm, WIFI , time etc...) had gone back to default white color. Today I checked Xposed and it said there was a new update available so I went to Install/Update and the phone rebooted. Since that restart, I always get a popup "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" and if I press OK it comes back again. The homescreen background keeps changing colors from blue to black during these popups. Nothing happens when I touch icons ... the popup keeps coming back. And if the screen goes locked its completely dark and I cant see anything until I remove the battery and turn on again.
Please help asap ..

Deactivate and clear data for all your Xposed Modules and reinstall your Xposed Framework.
There should be an Xposed-Disabler.zip on your sdcard, flash that in recovery using the Install update option so that you can access the above.
I can't click on any icons ... swiping doesnt do anything ... the popup keeps coming back and all I can click is "ok" on the popup
Sorry I'm new to these things.. could you please explain the steps on how to go into and recovery and what should be done?

Try this: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-disable-xposed-installer/
You could always factory reset in recovery.
To get to recovery on your device...hold down Power + Vol Up + Home, when fully powered off.
Thanks, I thought factory reset was the best option and it works fine now.
Just wondering, is the phone still rooted after a factory reset?

If SuperSU is installed in /system, yes it is. If not just reinstall and it's all good.
I just flashed the Lollipop factory image. Initially my app drawer looked like the "Guest.png" screenshot below. Somehow along the way as I was exploring lollipop, the app drawer changed to the "Me.png" screenshot below. Not sure what caused it but I would like to get the app drawer the way it looked when I first flashed lollipop as shown in "Guest.png" below; which is to say the screen with more apps on a single screen and the black background. I've rooted and flashed TWRP since flashing Lollipop. As an FYI, the "Guest.png" is from the guest account on my phone and the "Me.png" is from my account.

Hah,
probably was installing apps and the launcher was with it
I screwed up pretty bad. Every since i started using System UI tuner (the app) any changes to the phone like changing resolution and stuff would cause SystemUI to close down and the phone had to be restarted, but it was fine because it worked after the restart. Earlier today i put it into maximum power saving mode and it crashed the same way but every time i restart it shows the "SystemUI has closed" right as the phone boots up and i have a black screen and i can only turn off or restart.
The creator of the tuner app had 3 solutions to this problem. a simple restart , which didnt work
The second was solution was to input something using the adb but adb never connects because Maximum power saving mode disables Usb Debugging (fml..)
And the third one was to send him some file on ur phone and he'd send u back a fixed one but thats prob not gonna work cause i cant usb transfer anything onto it anyways.
I tried backing up using TWRP , wiping everything and restoring but the same issue happens
Is there anything i can do other than a complete wipe? Like is there maybe any way to uninstall or remove the SystemUI tuner with TWRP. or maybe put myself out of maximum power saving mode or something like that? Please help..
From twrp you should be able to navigate to data/app and delete the app from there. Long shot but might worth the try.
Use Safe Mode to uninstall SystemUI Tuner
Same thing happened to me on S8+
It would go straight to a black desktop and I could pull down notifications and use the nav keys at the bottom but couldn't do anything else.
Eventually I noticed the little message come up like you mentioned and realized it was related to SystemUI Tuner so I started in Safe Mode and uninstalled the app.
Once uninstalled the issue went away. I ended up reinstalling and use SystemUI Tuner but I am more careful and I know what to do if that happens again. Maybe if Samsung didn't remove so much and lock down the rest we wouldn't have to do this just to use a built in android feature.
have you found a solution to your problem? the same thing just happened to me today :crying:

Thanks but non of those works since adb is disabled in ultra power saving mode
Go to TWRP and restore from your backup
Flash a new ROm, or the stock ROM
Go to TWRP, open a shell and run the same command as adb.

Factory reset will fix it too. Don't use systemui turner without adb on its dangerous
Requesting urgent help here.
After updating to the AT&T nav bar update, my phone seems to be stuck on a black screen with constant "System UI has stopped" popup dialogs.
I have tried running adb commands to uninstall Substratum which I feel is the culprit, but I recently reset my computer so my phone doesn't recognize it as a trusted device so I can't run any commands. I've also tried putting the phone into safe mode but the same black screen and "system ui has stopped" errors continue to show up.
Is there anything else I can do or will I have to factory reset?

I had the same happen after flashing to u1 and rooting but I was chalking it up to ****ing it up.
Can you take a logcat of your phone booting up and share it or at least the systemui exception you are getting? I want to see if it matches mine.

Dang sorry! I already did a factory reset.
Edit: It seems to have definitely been from a navbar mod. I installed the same mod I used to make my navbar smaller before I updated my phone and upon restarting the phone, I got the same black screen with the "SystemUI has stopped" message.
Somewhat relevant if someone checks on this thread for system UI issue and have Xposed installed.
