Hey!
I recently got a s8, and im in love I really am, but im very very worried because it lags in snapchat a bit and while opening facebook messenger heads. I'm just wondering if there is possible that something is wrong with my device or this is all normal.

Hi! I have noticed the same problems with my s8, and as you said its mostly on snapchat and messenger. Are you running them while the power saving mode is turned on? I noticed that apps like these lag on power saving mode for me.

I think there will be a software update to fix it, because on Android O the s8 is almost as fast as the note 8... and Android O is still in beta.

It depends on the carrier. If you dindn't get a notification asking to update that means you have not gotten the update yet. I'd wait a few more days or even weeks and the update should be out for everyone. :good:

Well, the 5.0.2 Android Version arrived on my Moto G two days ago (xt1068). I was really hopping that my phone would get a smoother and clean system usage, but i got a huge disappointment while facing with laggy transition, a horrible microstuttered close-in/close-out on menu and main screen and some weird stuff like getting 90% of RAM used when i'm only with whatsapp opened.
So, i'm just in the mood to share this with you guys, and also i would like to see some reply or some "fix" for it. Thanks for reading!
I don't have lollipop. but did you power off and then power on? reboot.
After using 2 weeks. Lollipop is awesome. Had little slutter and battery draining problem. But its perfect now.
Try Nova Launcher - Stock Google Now Launcher is known to be laggy.

Well yes, at the beggining it works to solve some RAM instability, but nothing more than this.

I was considering on a factory reset, because of a bug on the mobile data. Dunno if this will make it work again, but i'll certanily try. Thanks!
For those who have recent app button lag in Touchwiz. Go to application manager in setting, disable talkback service and most lag will be gone. Please let me know you results, mine are positive , did improve from 2 / 3 seconds to 0.5 second (it may be required to restart your device)

Props go to @2000Hugo and @dzontra11 who came up with this fix

Yes I guess so @tmac31 Even as talkback is disabled by default under accessibility , the service still runs. But mysteriously it solves the lag problem by killing the service complete. Strange though it only seems to solve on Lollipop and not on KitKat

Since I upgraded to the official Oreo build 2 days ago it seems there is an increased delay from button press to app opening. It doesn't seem to be app dependent. Anyone else experiencing this?

I did a factory reset after I installed the OTA. Maybe worth a shot. My beef is my exchange email seems to be spotty on syncing. I keep getting the "Gmail is running in the background" notification on my nav bar. It's annoying and I think it's sh*tty Gmail trying to sync my work exchange account.

Thanks for the heads up. I suppose I'll try it. The fact that you are the only one who responded is reassuring that it isn't likely an inherent issue with Oreo
Nope nothing, no delay whatsoever here. Clean install via ADB.
Clean flash through fastboot image. Phone is flying. Response is definitely better than N
No app dely for me but not sure if I'm the only one but say that I'm in an app I back out onto another app then a pop up/ad comes on. Anyone else with this issue?

yeah hit and miss in my opinion, mostly faster and more smooth, every now and again the phone will hang for about a second lucky is not very often, I suspect this has something to do with the OS closing apps to help with battery life new feature
It seems to be getting better for me. Performance seems on par with Nougat while also seeming a little smoother. No new apps, updates, etc. Delay persisted through reboots. Not sure what changed but definitely seems to be improving.

Have you tried turning the animation speed down in the dev options settings? I had to instantly with mine. They just linger on a bit too long for my taste.
1x speeds good and smooth for my Oreo Pixel xl.
Has anyone else here played this game on the essential phone? I have a couple of strange glitches. I initially thought they were associated to my original faulty device, but after receiving my warranty replacement that is not faulty the same issues still persist on PUBG Mobile. So I am assuming it's something with this phone in general.
First glitch is some artifacting during the loading screen on the notch end of the phone. I am assuming this is because of the screen resizing to accommodate for the notch. It seems like it starts to attempt to resize the screen a few times in a row every once in a while resulting in what looks like some screen glitching. I've noticed this in other apps while using them too like chrome and OfferUp. Looks like every once in a while the app suddenly attempts to resize back to full screen mode for a split second, then immediately shrinks back down again to cut out the notch area.
Other issue is while using both fingers on the screen at the same time. Moving while aiming for instance it will spin my character around a little bit.
Doesn't display any of this behavior on any other phones I've ever had. I already contacted the publisher of the game but Wondering if anyone else has these issues and knows a workaround.

Strange, I don't at all. I full wiped and flashed from fastboot though. Did you ota?
So you still have the graphical glitches?
How do I get P?
Also is it possible to force games and other apps to utilize the full screen pace around the notch? As much as I don't like apple I do notice in YouTube videos that it does fully utilize the notch area on the iPhone X.
Alright nevermind found the settings in developer options from YouTube video to force all apps to use the notch area.

I flashed the ota through adb, did not factory reset though. I think the issue is involving the multi touch that was broken in and 8.1, and I don't think Google has fixed the issue

Yes! God, I thought I was the only one with the multi touch issue..but I'm too lazy and stupid to get P so I suppose I'm out of luck.
There's a fix for the multi touch glitch bug. It's a magisk module called "Pixel 8.1 multi-touch fix".
Let me warn you, DO NOT install it if you are on the stock essential ROM, because it will fail to boot. It is only safe on AOSP based ROMs. I can only vouch for myself that it works flawlessly with lineage. If you are on stock ROM you'll have to wait until essential releases a fix.
I just read up on it a little. Apparently it's an issue with all phones running 8.1.0 Oreo witch I did not know. My original essential PH1 was faulty, kept crashing and rebooting so I thought this was part of the faulty device.
Looks like they plan to release a fix in June security update.

Is anybody else experiencing scrolling issues on their OnePlus 8 Pro?
I have noticed what feels like the touch input not being recognised so when scrolling up or down a page it just stops responding. At first I thought this was palm rejection related but it is not.
It is likely software but I am worried it could be hardware. Anybody else?
Yes, theres a few threads on here and in the OP community about it. No idea whether it's soft or hardware [emoji1745]
Sent from my IN2023 using Tapatalk
Sorry I did search on scrolling and got no results. I'll take a look. I purchased mine from Amazon so if there is any sense of it being hardware I'd probably return it while I still can.
Yes I have had this happen almost everyday I put to sleep and put back on.. loving the device for most part but that and then wifi calling not working ugh.
Ditto on the lack of response. Thought it was Palm rejection or even one of the Facebook chat bubbles overlaid on the screen while in chrome causing overlay issues.
Factory reset should fix

There is no benefit to be to use QHD, it's a 6" screen not 60"
Switch to FHD then reboot and test, should be fine.

@wilpang I'm experiencing similar behavior. I suspect the latest update of webview to have a negative impact on this behavior. It seems generally an issue with HTML5 apps but I may be mistaken.

You compare resolutions of devices as if you sit the same distance awayfrom a phone and a television. I guess you can do what you want but the higher resolution in phones is because you are much closer. So duh, anybody can tell a resolution difference when you're that close.

Wtf are you on about???? It's a six inch screen. You cannot tell the difference between FHD and QHD, don't talk crap by saying you can.
Even if it's marginaly sharper to the eye, it does not merit the loss in battery life.
There TV analogy has nothing to do with how far your are from it, you said that not me.
Jesus.
The current update for the One Plus 8 Pro's changelog has stated to improve the performance by apps dropping down from 120Hz to 75Hz. Is it true for everyone with the latest update? I think it should force stay at 120Hz for a overall excellent experience.
