Try to update via SmartSwitch or do it yourself with Odin

thank you for the information. but this is not normal.
when i use the update option of my phone i can't update via OTA.
Using odin on a new phone is a lot of risk.
SmartSwitch is not valid for windows 10.

As has been stated your latest version for PHE CSC is G950FXXU1AQJ5 (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/PHE/)
Different CSC versions have different update levels so if you have G950FXXU1AQJ5 you wont get any OTA until the new version is released for your CSC (Consumer Software Customization).
If you got to settings -> software information what do you see as the three CSC's? e.g. I have BTU/BTU/BTU
According to sammobile the PHE CSC never had G950FXXU1AQC8 but the ATL CSC for Vodafone did.

Thank you very much for the information. I understand what you're saying.
I bought the new phone in amazon.es but as a result of your comment I suspect that this phone has been vodafone or maybe the signature has changed. It's a second-hand phone seems.
In my case PHE / PHE / PHE appears.
The security patch is April 2017 and I can not upload it via ota.
I think the best thing is to return it and exchange it for a new one.

What? It's an official app "SmartSwitch". How would it not be valid for windows? Just connect and see if there is an update.

Smart Switch for windows is not compatible with windows 10 version, you can see it here:
http://www.samsung.com/es/support/smartswitch/
OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
I have solved the problem already. my phone has a vodafone firmware, so it's not updated. Thanks also!! =)

Smart Switch is definitely fine for Windows 10 as I run it on that. Also the US version of Sammys site says Windows XP (SP3) and up.

There is pretty much no risk with that. I updated my phone with Odin multiple times (also flashing firmwares that never came out in my region). This is the best you can do if the built in OTA updater decided to just not work.

Latest Firmware

Sorry for being such a noob but I have never ordered a device internationally before. Anyways I have just rooted my device (SM-P605) and I'm curious what the latest firmware is because I don't believe I get OTA upgrades here in the States. Right now I'm running Android 4.3 on baseband version P605XXUBMJ4 and Build Number JSS15J.P605ZSUBMJ6.
Is there a newer version I should be using? Trying to check via the official bounces me to Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available.
Also, are there plans for Kit Kat in the future? Or perhaps there already is a mod that includes the latest version of Android.
MJ9 is the Latest i guess

This is why you can't get OTA updates - because you are rooted.

Yes, but no release date is set, or known by us. Samsung said "soon".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601477
How do I manually upgrade to MJ9? Do I need to un-root and flash to stock before doing anything. I also notice that my basebuild and build are running different numbers. How did that happen, is it a problem, and how do you fix it?

I'd also like to know if there is a specific version of the upgrade that I need to download. Region specific. I don't want to brick it. Will any download of P605XXUBMJ9 run perfectly on this device? Do I also need a certain file to upgrade the baseband?

You will not brick it, in the worst case you'd have to flash it again with another CSC. CSC is the region of your device. For a close shot, forget about the country and either flash US firmwares if your device is US, or EU firmwares if your device is anywhere from Europe.
No, it is included in the firmware file. There is absolutely no reason to look for a baseband file (or RIL).
Unless your driver somehow got screwed, which usually happens when you install wrong, or badly matched kernels. In that case you will hear very disturbed sound (this error is very clear, if you get this problem, you know 100% that it is there. It isn't like "did i hear a scratch in my speaker for a second?").

Get Odin, get the drivers, read the instruction. Just the usual odin procedure.
You don't need to unroot/re-stock, but if you are very paranoid, you can use a custom recovery to wipe /system before flashing (don't do it unless you know you need it. If you don't - you don't need to do it. I am only telling you this because you might want it in the future when you try many different modded ROMs).
Baseband and build v. can differ, this is not a problem nor something you should worry about.

do you know if there is any firmware for sm-p605 with multiple user support?
No there isnt. When KitKat comes we get Multiuser Support.
You can't downgrade the bootloader.
Flashing an older firmware that the bootloader doesn't support will end up with a tablet hanging on the samsung logo. Just need to reflash newer firmware to fix
Flashing a bootloader for another device - you might as well throw it off a highrise and hope it still works when it hits bottom...
P600 and P601 roms WILL NOT work with the P605. It's like trying to use helicopter parts to fix a car engine....

Hi,
Are you talking about upgrade from stock 4.3 to stock 4.4.2? if so there is no need to root , just go to Sammobile.com find the rigght firmware and flash it ( Odin)
Thanks!
On SAM Mobile now.
How do i find out which country the phone belongs to along with knowing the correct firmware to get?
I should note i got the phone from Australia, however i cannot see Australia in the firmware list for GT-I9505.
Thanks
Just an update.
Not sure if its possible to flash to 4.4 because I've just been on SAMMobile.
Clicked on FIRMWARE
Then clicked Check Your Firmware.
Which i did. The phone is unlocked so i just chose vodafone.
Then it directs me to a 2013 update which is android 4.3.
So does that mean i can't get one for 4.4?

Hi mate ,
For Australia seems like the newest firmware is 4. 3 but you can flash a firmware from other " similar" countries like UK , check other countries that you may consider closer to yours
for example
BTU means unbranded
Model: GT-I9505
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
Country: United Kingdom
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 481100
Build date: Fri, 14 Feb 2014 03:15:30 +0000
Product Code: BTU
PDA: I9505XXUFNB9
CSC: I9505BTUFNE1
MODEM: I9505XXUFNB9
CSC: I9505BTUFNE1
Language is similar and if the modem gives you problems ( it should not) you can always flash ( odin) another the only thing you may lose would be maybe any specific carrier service that is on your current carrier rom you have in your phone and your CSC will be from UK ( in this case)
You can try installing Kies 3 Connecting your phone and see if it promotes an Update
Ok guys thank you.
So if i were to get the latest UK one. How likely is it my sim would still work in it?
I currently use vodafone in AU and uk also has vodafone. So would i be better off getting a vodafone uk firmware or just an unlocked one?
Cos the s4 is actually unlocked already.
If you could perhaps link me to the correct firmware id really appreciate it. I just really dont wanna screw this up.
Any info you require i can give you. I know for sure it is a GT-I9505 and that it was purchased unlocked in australia.
Thank you.

Hi,
Sim will work ok
Your choice vodafone or unbranded should be fine ( unbranded is newer) , unbranded ( no carrier stuff on it) has nothing to do with network lock
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=30963 (vodafone)
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=31852 ( unbranded)
back up your app , data , contacts , pictures , music and use this app to make a backup of your EFS folder ( there is your imei info) just in case
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock&hl=en

hi
they basically say the same ...... there is only one way to flash stock , in your case you do not need to flash the PIT file
from sammobile:
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Ok thats everything i need thanks so much.
Just one last question.. Can this process be done using a mac or am i better off using an XP based machine?
Thanks guys

Hi ,
Odin is windows based , it should work in a XP machine as long as the samsung usb drivers are updated
Ok cool.
I will use an XP based machine.
Ok so i now have odin and i now have the 1.54GB firmware package.
I can do the update as per the instructions.
But you suggested getting the latest USB Drivers for my device...
How would I find these drivers?
Is it just a matter of having the latest Kies right??
Thank you.

Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock with newest Dez Rom from Samsung - :(

#solved
Hello,
It would be awesome when someone could help me.
- Tonight I flashed the newest Stock rom (Security Dec 2018) with Smart Switch.
- Then I rooted the phone with TWRP + Magisk
- Then I decidet to deactivate the OEM Unlock
What would be the easiest way now, it looks that there is a new bootloader in this rom, so I can not use an older Rom? Is it true, could it be?
Can please tell me someone a Rom (what is downloadable and not behind a paywall) what I can flash with Odin or a simple other solution. My knowdledge in this kind of business is old and I nearly never use it. I tried it now for around 6 hours, please can someone tell me a noobproof strategy for a Samsung SM-G950. If it matters I´m from Germany.
Work in progress
-- Using SamFirm to download new Firmware
--- tried new German + new AT Firmware
--- both failed, is it possible that Samsung released a new version this night so my version is newer? Error Code: --- SW Rev. Check Fail (Bootloader) Device: 4, Binary: 3
I give it up for now
:crying:

Your issue is you are trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. You need firmware with bootloader version 4 or higher. Bootloader version number is the 5th number from the right of the firmware file name. A simple check of software version can be found in settings - about phone - software info - baseband
You can search for firmware using samfirm or sammobile or updato all are free to download

I already used Samfirm with 2 Firmwares from 2019. The Firmware-Package with the 4 Odin files had release date Middle December 2018, this are the newest firmware versions - In my oppinion.
The phone is also bricked right now, so I can not read out the actually firmware - I used the newest from Samsung - as written.

Can you still get into recovery/download modes
You could try a factory reset
Not sure what firmware your looking at but if from Germany on updato I can see at least 2 firmwares which may work with version 4 bootloader
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
Edit: For some reason link not going directly to Germany firmware list
You will have select model eg: S8
Then use filters to select region

Thank you very much but this side sucks, downloadtime > 1 day
Can you please give me a filename to keep sure I take the right one.
In what specific position do I see where the Bootloader 4 is? My thinking was just take the files from end 2018 and 2019.

Samfirm will probably be the quickest.
File name convention eg: G950FXXU4CRKG the number 4 ( 5th from right ) is the bootloader revision number the higher the number the latest firmware available. You can not downgrade firmware ie: 3,2, or 1( bootloader no.)
The latest ones I can find for Germany region for the s8 Oreo:
G950FXXU4CRL3- CSC - DBT - December 14
Since I am not sure what carriers you have but CSC codes as far as I know
DBT - I can only assume unbranded(non carrier) ?
XEG ( 1&1 )
DDE ( congstar )
VIA ( 02 )
DTM ( T Mobil )
VD2 ( Vodafone )
I would use samfirm as it is quicker in downloading at least for me
In samfirm top left enter model no. SM-G950f
Underneath in region box enter ? ( I can only suggest using DBT or one of the above. )
Samfirm.will only show latest version available for your region.

I already used it yesterday with DBT + VD2. I will try it again
I think the problem is that SamFirm sucks actually. I can not download manually firmwares there, maybe the automatic sucks und brings me old results.
Now I download this here: https://samfrew.com/de/amp/download/Galaxy__S8__/ke8v/VD2/G950FXXU4CRL4/G950FOVF4CRL1/
I think now I got it. I thank all people what have inspired me. It´s flashing.
Just a final question, is it possible that MOST Firmdatabases what are promoted in XDA Developers are a bunch of ****, it looks like the owner of this ****sides permanently promote their moneymakingmachines here.
Final Notice: Because I don´t trust this side, I flash the Nov Version and than flash with Samsung Tool the latest Dez Vers.

The " Device 7 Binary 6 " error means that this version of firmware that you want to install has an older version of bootloader. and by installing the wrong firmware, that means your bootloader version has changed into a new one, maybe the newest by now. What your phone is trying to say in other words is that you can't downgrade your bootloader.
Explanation for what I wrote above is quite simple, ignore the last 4 characters on each version that you posted here, and you have: G935FXXS7xxxx and G935FXXS6xxxx.
Using TWRP is the best way to avoid the problem of different versions of bootloaders.
Though, you shall wait for samsung to upload a newer version if you trully wish to have your phone stock 100%.

Change CSC of SM-N9860/DS N20U 5G Hongkong Variant

UPDATE:
New Method:
Install Google Phone app and key-in *#*#27262826#*#*
Credits to this post.
Hi!
I successfully changed CSC from TGY to BRI and vice versa on my SM-N9860/DS.
From N9860ZSU1ATH1 ROM, I just flashed my unit back to the N9860ZSU1ATGM (stock firmware with July security patch) using Odin and then change CSC using the Change CSC app by Mysterious Dev.
Download Links:
N9860ZSU1ATGM or N9860ZSU1ATGM MEGA Download
Change CSC Windows App
Important notes and instructions:
Tested only when coming from N9860ZSU1ATH1 TGY/BRI ROM.
Factory Reset is required when flashing N9860ZSU1ATGM. If you are new to Odin flashing, check this thread first. Use the CSC_OMC_OZS_*** file instead of the HOME_CSC_OMC_OZS_*** on the CSC slot in Odin. You can use the latter but reset is still required.
After flashing is done and and your phone has completely booted, open the Samsung Themes app and login your samsung account, update the app if ask.
Before doing the change CSC, do the following first:
Enable developer mode on your phone and enable USB debugging
Disconnect your phone from internet.
Connect your phone to your PC using USB data cable and allow PC connection on your phone once prompted.
Turn-off your windows PC anti-virus before installing and opening the Change CSC app (the app is being detected as a virus)
If the Change CSC app is not opening properly, you need to run it as administrator.
On the Change CSC app, click "Check" > "Connect" > Select "Android 10" > Click "Change CSC". Go to your phone and click "Check out my stuff". Then follow the instructions shown on your windows desktop. Select the 'Android 10' option in the Legal Settings. Select the CSC that you want to test (BRI or TGY) and install. Click "Remove Change CSC" once done.
Turn-on you windows anti-virus back.
This will not trip knox if followed accordingly.
Do these procedures at your own risk!
After changing to BRI, I was able to update my phone to N9860ZSU1ATH1 OTA.
With BRI, I am already getting the 4G Carrier Aggregation on my unit here in the Philippines (which was not happening previously with TGY).
CA makes a significant difference on my unit. I now have 70-125mbps with it. Without it, it barely hovers 20mbps.
I have not tested the 5G yet. I have no 5G signal in my place yet.

Thanks a lot. 5G works in Switzerland (Sunrise) on slot 2 only, but both sim cards can be activated.
Am I on ATH1 or ATH2? Can I go ahead with changing my CSC using this method. The only reason I would want to do this is to enable call recording.
Will it be changed forever? Will I get updates and what happens when I get an update? Do I still remain with the changed CSC or does it get reverted to the stock one? Thanks & sorry for so many questions...

You can't get call recording with this ROM.
I think you can get it by flashing the N9860 rom with CHC CSC.

Does this require that your phone should still be on the Aug 1 security patch to be able to downgrade to the July security patch?
Thanks a lot, you saved me a lot of work.
May I ask what is the point in changing CSC in this case?

Mostly to get the latest updates, or for some to get the built-in call recording (Exynos variants).

Glad it helps. You are on BRI on this, right? It's good to know that 5G works even both sim cards are used.
How about 4G carrier aggregation (4G+)?

In my case, networks issues. As mentioned , 4G CA was not working while I am on TGY, so with the 5G. 4G CA is working now with BRI. Haven't tested the 5G yet. My country uses the same 5G band and freq with Taiwan.

The reason I asked is that I read somewhere that you can't 'downgrade' your firmware once you are already on the Sep 1 security patch. were you on the Aug 1 patch prior to downgrading to the July patch? I'm gonna try this on my Exynos phone, I hope it works as I am still on the Aug 1 sec patch. BTW I sent you a DM. I appreciate your time. Thanks!

Not sure, but I think it will work with Exynos going back to Jul patch from Aug patch.

I will report here later.
Kindly check your private message. I asked you something about the firmware. I want to share with everyone if indeed I got it right. Thanks.
Was reading carefully but my question is
CSC changer can change borrowing exynos CSE on Snapdragon? I want to change KOR (KOO) to UK BTU.
Why? This will fix region problems and samsung daily will focus on UK news rather then korean.

I don't think it will work. Exynos and SD use different modem hardware.
You will have a good chance if from the same chipset.
IT works. Still after updating to the latest firmware (Ota), the 5g mark doesn't show up anymore. Still it seems I'm on 5g given my speed test. Did anyone else notice that?
@Tribalfs I want to thank you for this. Since your guide is for the SD version, I made a thread for the Exynos version.

I confirm, 5g no longer works after OTA update even though csc is still BRI
