When I plug a USB-C cable in my phone, I have the feeling, that the jack is (already) slightly loose. Just really slightly. Slightly enough, to not letting me exclude, that all phones have that.
How is the phones USB jack after a few years? Does anyone have some experiences there?
The port is fine. There's no winning point for micro USB. You probably know how loose those were

Other than DLNA, is the epic going to get the vidout via 3.5 feature???
All the reviews I've found seems to gloss over this...
I personally think it's a huge feature
I saw a video on youtube of a Galaxy S doing it. IDK if the Epic 4g Will for sure, but I would assume it could still do this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTQBAx_BDfk
Something interesting I found in my digging is that the Galaxy S phones will only support Stereo sound over DLNA and if you want 5.1 from a movie you will have to use the 3.5 jack for audio. I have no clue how this works in practice, but its just something interesting I came across.
Well, the AT&T version definitely has it intact

I saw this.
I'm excited that all of the Galaxy lineup can do HDMI out from microUSB, but I REALLY am not gonna spend $50 on a USB cable.
Wasn't the price similar for the Droid X cable? I don't think its samsung trying to gouge people, as much as the cables being kinda hard to find.
I think once more phones come out with HDMI-microUSB, then generic cheaper brands of cables will come out.
If not, i'll just have to live without HDMI out.
Strictly speaking, it's not a microUSB cable... it's a HDMI cable with proprietary connector that has the approximate physical form factor of a microUSB plug, but additional contacts for the HDMI signals.
I'm purely guessing, but I suspect the cable MIGHT be "semi-active"... using a single pin on the microUSB connector for each of the raw, unbalanced TMDSx and CLOCK signals, and turning them into a balanced pair with dedicated shield ground with parts embedded in the hood of the cable itself. I'm going to guess that when the phone is using the port in "hdmi" mode, they probably repurpose the USB D+ and D- pins for I2C to reduce the pincount further.
It's not really that exotic or mysterious. MicroUSB only uses one side of the connector slab, so there's room on the underside to put more contacts for other purposes. The only part that's really amazing is that they can get a reliable high-speed connection from a connector that's slightly loose, with etched copper contacts the width of a human hair.

MicroUSB to HDMI Cable
Looks like it was made for the Evo and Droid X but should work with the epic too!

It's a standard MicroUSB port nothing proprietary at all. The cable's HDMI end also has a MicroUSB out connector on the side for charging while connected to HDMI.
PS: Here is the exact same Samsung cable for $3.60, currently out of stock but I was fortunate enough to get one before I went out of stock again.

Huh? The Evo has a dedicated Micro-HDMI port and cannot do HDMI via MicroUSB. The original cable made by Samsung I linked above is almost 10 bucks cheaper.
What I think is smart is that the cable takes into consideration that you can't charge the phone with a straight up microUSB to HDMI cable. They added another microUSB port for the charger on the base, which is SOOOOO smart, cause, well, you know, video is just going to rape the battery life.
I have a sheer abundance of mini ish cables and a lack of microscope that will fit my evo. Will someone trade me ? I'll trade someone a 6in mini usb to usb-a male (regular computer plug) and a belkin 6 ft one for any size micro usb evo charging cable. Just pm me and let me know. By the way, if this is against the rules just ignore me, I took a quick look through them and didn't see anything though.
I've been thinking about getting a cable to extend my N7 from the wall. I can't very well use the charging cable that came with the tablet because it's so terribly short, I was wondering, if I got some kind of Usb extension cable, would it affect my device. I can handle it charging a little slower, but I don't wanna ruin the battery or anything else. All help and any flaming is welcome, as this is kinda a nooby question. Thanks, dudes.

best place to get inexpensive cables
Sorry for the quick reply there. Basically you wanna get one of these. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030302&p_id=5447&seq=1&format=2
As you can see they have them in various lengths. I have a 10ft one. These work much better then those plug in extensions that just add on to the existing cord. You lose a little voltage that way. With these cords you are getting a good quality cord for cheap with no voltage loss.
Actually, that's a mini connector, we need a micro. Don't think I can post a link yet, but Monoprice has a the same black cable with gold connectors in the micro size, too.
This is kind of vague, but - for longtime N6P owners, how would you rate your experience with the USB-C port?
I'm considering making the jump from a Moto X Pure, which just had to be RMAed due to a failing microUSB port. This is my third phone with microUSB, and all three have had some issues with charging after awhile. The port ends up feeling "loose," some cables need to be jiggled to start charging, etc.
Has the USB-C port performed flawlessly, or have some of you experienced it wearing out or failing to charge? How about third party USB-C cables - still going strong after a year, or are they throwaways too, despite the higher pricetag? Basically - is it sturdier and more reliable than its predecessor?
(FWIW, USB-C vs. microUSB isn't the only reason I'm considering the switch, but it's a factor.)
No issues with usb-c never gets loose. Love it

No issue. Best feature is being able to connect the cable on reverse unlike the traditional USB.
Local availability is an issue I find, but love the jack.
No problems here.
I love it but the port on my N6P burnt out. I had to get a replacement phone. It was covered by the warranty though. The port itself is a lot sturdier than micro-USB and has a lot of potential. I still don't trust the cables and do a lot of research before buying any USB-C accessory.
Except for the hassle of finding a decent replacement cable, I liked USB-C so far.
Luckily the 6P has decent battery life though, otherwise I would have had problems in finding a compatible charger in most of my friends' cars

I've had the 6p since December. Other than USB 3.1 jacks not functioning fully with fastboot(on my setup), I have had no issues. Any standard 3.0 USB jack with USB a to USB c works fine. I get my cables off amazon from a manufacturer called JOTO. Still use the cable today and I bought it in January. I do a lot of plugging and unplugging from my PC too.
No issues.
I've had no issues at all. Works great for me and it's nice being able to plug in either way. It's annoying at times trying to buy cables online (make sure you read the reviews cause some could burn out your device) and get one that's Benson approved (https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/3robzo/google_spreadsheet_for_usbc_cables_with_benson/).
Wireless charging has been around for a good few years now, and USB C are also popular for several years. Most of new USB C phones are coming with wireless charging capabilities. But most of popular wireless chargers are still micro ports so far.
Why are most of the wireless chargers still micro ports? It's because of different agreements. As most of QI wireless chargers are Qualcomm QC agreement, while most of USB C chargers use USB-IF Power Delivery agreement. If you use a PD USB C charger to charge a QC agreement wireless charger on a usb c phone, it will cause some incompatibility, overheating and charging instability.
It seems there is no good way to solve these problems now. I'm also expecting to use a better USB C wireless charger without any compatible and overheating issues. Because I almost cannot find any micro cables around me.
Is there any other inconvenience of using a micro wireless charger? When can we change to USB C wireless charging? Let's talk about this topic together.

Why does it really matter? In my experience, Micro USB cables are cheaper, and much easier to come by. I can walk into a gas station and buy one, but not USB-C.
Also, I have bought 3 wireless chargers since getting my S9. A stand up CHOETECH, the new panda pad they have, and a car mount by Iottie. All 3 have come with a cable. I also have dozens of micro usb cables from old devices.
While USB-C is the future, it's not mainstream. It's only really being offered in higher end devices. Until it's more standard, the cables are slightly more expensive because they aren't being as mass produced.
Is it more convenient? Sure. Will it replace Micro-Usb? Most likely. Until it becomes more standard on electronics as a whole, your likely going to see things like charging pads, Bluetooth headphones, etc still coming with micro usb. It's still the most used standard.
Keep in mind, USB-C is set to replace more than just micro usb. It can be used to replace Hdmi, and I think I read even networking cables (not that most people go wired anymore). It's already replacing power cords in MacBooks. It's truly a one cable to rule them all, but it's got years before it's done away with everything it can replace.
... I'm using the official Samsung wireless convertible charger, with a USB-C port.
The only issue I find with having a micro USB cable on the wireless charger is that you can't simply unplug it and plug it into your USB-c phone when you need to charge faster.

:good::good: You're right. USB-C is the future, but it's not mainstream now. We still need Micro cables somewhere.
Cost. It's not a selling point so it's not worth the extra $ to upgrade it to USB type-c. The convenience of type-c is the ability to put it in in any direction. A wireless charger doesn't get plugged back in and unplugged. A manufacturer like Samsung is going to have a huge surplus of type-c so it makes sense for them to use it because there's no point of having different types in stock. But for things you buy on Amazon most of those are made from the same factories in China who I'm sure have millions micro USB in stock. There's just no incentive. Doesn't really benefit anything other than the niche person that wants to plug it in to their phone. Most by 1, plugging in, put it wherever it's going to go like a nightstand and that's where it's going to sit until it dies lol.
