Hi there,
does anyone know a working version of LineageOS (V14.X) for our Xperia X Compact?
The last version i´ve found is not updated since April:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/help/rom-lineageos-14-1-sonylos-7-1-binaries-t3584504
Is there a newer Version?
Kind regards,
Chris
I cannot find any either, but Omni has a working rom with official weeklies, you can maybe try that.
Edit: It's more like a monthly, though. Last build is from Nov. 20
I'm not a developer, but I've made an attempt yesterday to build LineageOS. After several build errors (and dirty (possibly horribly wrong) hacks to circumvent them), the build completed but I was unable to successfully boot the resulting zipfile (it bootloops every couple of seconds). I then flashed the kernel (boot.img) from the older LineageOS-rom that is shared on androidfilehost, and I was able to boot the rom but the simcard isn't detected, so the rom is basically useless...
It is sad that there are no people out there that can maintain a weekly build for LineageOS. If an inexperienced builder like me can build and boot a rom it really shouldn't be that hard to improve the build.

Thanks! Could you say anything about the differences between Lineage and Omni? Omni's website is extremely sparse - no main point of differentiation, no feature list, no installation instructions - nothing. All it says is, it's AOSP "enriched", but not how. Their wiki link goes to a github page with a Code of conduct and a License Agreement - not very useful either.
Just noticed this - https://www.lineageosroms.org/forums/forum/sony/xperia-x-compact-kugo-f5321/
Plus AOSP Oreo - https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617948176
lineageosroms.org
lineageosroms.org
any more infos about that site?
looks quite impressive with the ammount of unofficial devices.
@Tom Mix: Looks to me like a lot of pointless clicking without any actual roms being offered. Seems like a scam (although I cant figure out their revenue model)

Coming from a Note 1 (N7000), I'm quite satisfied with the work of XDA developer bauner . He set his focus on providing a stable CyanogenMod based ROM wich is always updated with the latest security patch level - no fancy, just stable and secure. He is even working on a CM14.1 ROM.
I got an old Note 3 from my son. I'm not sure, if I should keep it, despite it's way better hardware wise than my Note 1 from 2011. I keep some business related data on my phone, so my focus is on security.
From looking around, I found several ROMs for the N9005 which haven't been updated for months. I found some other ROMs (based on Note 7 stuff) which are updated frequently, but seem to focus on fancy stuff, nice features, but never mention any security related update.
So I'm wondering: is there really no ROM for N9005 with focus on security? Or did I miss one?
I'm sure most of the CM13 roms comes with the latest security updates. Trader is still updating temaseks cm13 with security upgrades for example. You can also go go ahead and try out one of the two CM 14.1 roms here on the forum.
The CMs are constantly updated. If you want 6.0, there is Temasek's. Otherwise, there are also the CM14.1 builds from trader418 and christer12, even if the first one seems to be more stable
still can't find a suitable ROM
Thanks for your response.
Reading your comments, I was continuing searching all XDA ROM threads for Cyanogen ROMs. Google is pushing security updates on a monthly base. So I was looking for a ROM which follows this path. I would even pay a monthly fee for it.
From what I've read so far, I got the impression that the work on Temasek CM13 ceased in favor of the CM14 builds (which are not stable enough for my personal use case). From android-hilfe.de (German forum)
Is there anybody working on this ROM? - No, work on CM13 stopped

Looking at the Temasek thread I can see under "current info"
Android Version: 6.0.1_r30

A quick google search shows this version is from April 2016. Looking at his repository, Temasek stopped his commits in August and I wasn't able to find another repo which is still maintained. Trader is developing CM14 and he is supporting CM13 for Verizon. There's a Temasek 12.2 from October, also build by Trader, but I don't know the patch level. Looking at his Twitter account, Trader is busy with university stuff at the moment, so he had to reduce work on the ROMs - he omitted at least two patch levels (or even more).
Looking at Purify, the last version is also from October (hmm, does he depend on the work of Trader?). And finally Christer closed his threads CM threads for unknown reasons. Maybe because he was not providing his kernel sources, like the XDA guidelines demand for GPL stuff.
So, which CM based ROM did I miss? Is there one I'm not aware off? It seems I still can't find any CM13 ROM which is actively maintained on a regular basis.

My fork of temaseks cm13 is found at GitHub.com/trader418. I'll upload an update later today with the latest security patch. I aim for a monthly update at the least however uni work had been getting on top of me. But now I'm finished for Christmas I have more time.
I am having trouble finding decent instructions for getting the sources for a standard build for Motorola devices, specifically for athene.
I have built for Freescale products before and it usually involves some combination of repo init and patches, but that doesn't seem to be the case for Motorola.
I know the kernel and other sources are available on Github (https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLL), but I don't see a manifest repository there. Nor can I find a device repo.
The closest thing to instructions I found was this readme (https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/readme/blob/master/MMI-MPJ24.139-23.4.txt) (xda wont let me post links, I'm too new a user here).
I am starting to suspect that Motorola is being as lazy as possible and only fulfilling the bare minimum of open source obligations, and thus doesn't provide a device repo, or manifest repo, etc.
Is that the case? I am new to running builds for standard phone manufacturers - are ROM developers around here forced to do legwork filling in what the manufacturers refuse to publish?
Or am I just missing the rest of the instructions from somewhere?
I have the same issue, did you ever manage to successfully complete a build? Thanks.

Nope, my impression of the situation remains the same, though I have not re-investigated. I would like if someone more knowledgeable confirmed though.
It is a shame, as I would really like a "known good" base to work off of and put in root support and remove unnecessary softwares in a legitimate way.
You *can* build LineageOS for athene: (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/athene/build)
I ran LineageOS for several months, but eventually switched back to stock. Has some strange issues in regards to texting (seems to only work when making a call).
Thanks for your reply. I've just managed to build Lineage OS for my device, and it seems to work ok.
I was previously using Resurrection Remix OS (which I didn't build, just downloaded a zip) and it worked very well, so if I have any issues with Lineage then I'll try to restore my TWRP backup of RR.
I wish I could use the AOSP codebase directly, though...
Hello xda community,
I would like to try my hands at building Lineage OS for the Galaxy Note 4 Duos. I was a little surprised that there seems to be not even an unofficial build for it (or cyanogenmod for that matter). Is there some technical reason why it hasn't been attempted yet that is specific to the Duos?
Otherwise, I'd be happy if someone could point me in the right direction. Maybe someone who already did it for a different model could post a basic guide since I have no experience yet in this area.
Speaking of it, my current level of experience is that I have rooted and flashed roms on android phones a few dozen times, and developed a handful of apps for android. So hopefully it's not too far outside of my skill-level.
Thank you in advance.
You can take a look at Note 4 General section, a new thread was made on how to build LinageOS for the Note 4 N910F/N910G. N9100 will not support 2nd sim if im not wrong, you need a dev who want to work on this project
Try this:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By...llGSnVyVDVfRlE
I downloaded this from the Chinese website. The latest build is 29 April. Donno why. Give it a try.
Thank you very much, I'll give it a try when I get to it.
Btw. the url is incomplete, I'm trying the original thread.
Did it work for you? (the April 29 build )

Kind of. Fingerprint and HDR camera don't work, which was expected, but for some reason phone calls don't work for me, I can call and receive, but there is no sound on either end. Otherwise everything seemed fine and the phone performed relatively well.
twrp-3.2.0-0-trlteduos official build release candidate!

I've finally managed to build it from a pure omni device tree borrowed heavily from _mone's trlte twrp device tree. Chinese variant users: please test it as thoroughly as you can, including backing up and restoring with and without encryption. If it works, _mone will push it for official support.

Hey guys! Some very talented developers have been working on unofficial releases for a while already, and I am unsure whether to go for their takes or wait until an Official version is released. Any predictions on when this might happen? Or should I just void my warranty and go for Vache's build? Thanks!!!
I might also like this. While Motorola says they will release Oreo for Potter, they seemingly haven't provided any timetable for that. I am a bit hesitant to install a LineageOS nightly on my daily driver, but I would love having the option, especially if it turns out that Motorola botches the Oreo upgrade.

I have been using Vache's/fAIyaZ 7.1.2 build for some days now. Only found one bug, Skype wouldn't manage to access the camera for video-chatting, but I found a solution for it (activating Camera 2 API from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/themes/potentially-google-camera-port-t3684264 ). Other than that, everything works perfectly (and a lot better than the Moto built-in tracking suite they ship the phone with).
Applying an unofficial fix to an unofficial port sounds a bit problematic. Do you think it would be possible for Vache/fAlyaZ to fix this in their port somehow? Or would it be more of a gapps thing? Or neither?
It seems so insane to me that there is no official LineageOS for Potter yet? I couldn't have even imagined that it wouldn't be released quickly when I bought the Moto G5 Plus - I though it is such a popular phone, so well reviewed for the price, able to be unlocked, etc. How can it no be better supported by the LineageOS team?
Sorry to necro this thread, but Oreo has now been officially released for Potter, after seemingly forever. What are the chances of getting an official 15.1 build for Potter any time soon?
I know Vache's unofficial build is much loved on here, and I think there's a 16.0 unofficial build I've seen flowing around as well, but some of us would rather go with an official build if one is available.
Don't mean to be a d*ck, but just follow the trending topics on the forum and you'll see where everyone has flocked to. At the moment I believe there's no need to program Lineage for Pie, when we have one extremely good AOSP based version online. Install the Pie version of the system that can be shot from a bow and never look back... Vache did a great job for as long as he did it, and a couple of other contributors too, so <3 thank you
now everyone seems to be somewhere else, that's how it goes
all the previous versions and knowledge gained from them kept being passed forward to ports from the next version of Android as well, so you'd have to look at Lineage Pie. Lineage16 seems to still be too raw for Potter, which means you likely won't see any official version soon. With Pie out, everyone's efforts turn to it, so you can see also that the 15.1 thread is pretty much dead.
Hello, i was in the process of finding out how to compile Dot OS rom to share here but realized that my my computer isnt strong enough to do so. Is there anyone willing to compile the rom for those of us who would like to use it? please and thanks. Also, if asking for a rom is in violation of anything please remove this post ;D
That would be great
I am actually planning to do a personal build of DotOS, if I succeed I will share it. (this only depends on my internet connection - which is slow: I will probably buy a VPS to do so).
That great yes
I didn't see this beforehand but I'm actually compiling a build of Dot-OS 2.4 based on 8.1 oreo Right now.
By all means, if someone was planning on maintaining unofficial builds be my guest. Still, I'll post my build on this comment when it's done in an hour or so.. Made with los tree, kernel and muppets vendor.
edit: I removed my build because of some issues with system overlays

I actually wasn't planning to maintain it, you are free to do so. I successfully built my own version as well, but I have some issues with DotUICenter - basically the overlays do not work.
I am trying to download your build but AFH has a temporary mirror and it's extremely slow (60 to 80KB/s). Do the overlays work on your build?
Hello Any news about rom thanks

Well I've personally discontinued work due to some overlay issues that I don't have the time to look into and fix.
