[REQ] [ROM] [DEV] Custom ROMs based on AOSP needed for Galaxy A5(SM-A500G). Help!

Can any developer help the Indian A5 variant users get a AOSP custom rom. As @mygalaxya discontinued his work for that variant. I am not a developer but would love to work on porting the rom if someone guides me on the procedure.

Don't worry, I can adapt BlissPop to any variant since now I have completz device tree for it. Send me a PM if you're really interested.
I'm also working on another build, it's a simple clean and fresh build, since all bugs are fixed we may adapt it to all variants.

Can u please give us a link of the AOSP ROM thread for SM-A500G,

SM-A500H Dual SIM variant.
And what about the dual sim variant Mr. @mygalaxya because these devices are not easy to configure to make the two sims working properly, I don't know what's the problem or where it lies, but for example check this: Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 cyanogenmod by mukulsoni with cyanogenmod 12.1 from 22nd November 2014 until today.
yet, dual sim functionalities -calling and internet- are not working as they should be.
I don't want to be a disappointment or frustration but, we should give our SM-A500H dual Sim a chance so, I wish good luck for all of you.
I'm eager to help with my phone.

That's right. We really need Dev's help in this area. There are many custom roms for a500f/a500fu but none for any other variant.

Hi I just received an OTA update for my a500g(India) of around 830 MB. I think this should be the lollipop update.

Can you please check if its Lollipop? because Its not yet updated in youmobile.org and i have a rooted device

Yup it is the lollipop update of 830 MB.
And just install wanam Xposed and make your device status official and it will let you download the OTA. I also have rooted a5.
Edit: After downloading OTA you can find the downloaded update in root/data/fota.

I didnt get it, I checked for update. My baseband version is A500GXXU1AOB2 build number is KTU84P.A500GXXU1AOE2

It seems like there is actually no lollipop release for a500g(India). But than why I got that update? Can it be an experimental build?
I have filed a complaint to Samsung about this a week ago. Do you think that is the reason why I got that update? Also the Russian lollipop update for a500fu was of 920 MB while mine was of only 830 MB.
Anyway I think I will wait for Indian lollipop release. Damn my 830 MB is wasted.
Edit: Just checked on gsmarena. A user there has reported that he has also got lollipop update on his a500g India if 830 MB. So I have got the right update.

Phones with CSC INS got the update . That may be the reason they didnt release official roms. I flashed INS kitkat ROM and got the update

Dnt worry buddy...its an official update.i also got da update.. whole new ui...battery back up is very gud...still no bug yet...no lag...no heating issues...only problem is i wnt to root it..thts alll:laugh:

Mate 9 MHA-L09C316

Hi Guys
Just picked my new Huawei mate 9. So far so good..
But i have an issue with updates. My version is MHA-L09C316B150. Im checking for updates but the update system says i have the latest version.. I checked on this thread that the oreo update is out. Will i be able to update my phone to the MHA-L09 version listed here?
Also can someone explain what the C316 is? I see there is C33, C632 etc

Just to add, my device has the last security update from Jan 2017.. Wtf.. Why has no further updates been done..

Value after C in build number is region/localization.

But I didn't find C316.
Where are you from? Is your phone selling in stores or you got it from mobile operator by contract?
You can see available stock ROMs for your phone in Firmware Finder. Enter model MHA-L09C316 in search.
I did it, but FF did not find anything about your region. There are two options: stock ROMs for C316 are existing, but FF does not know where are they. Or Huawei did not post them to HiCloud.
If I have had phone with rare region, I will rebrand it to more popular region. It is too hard process for newbie. You have to read about unlock bootloader, TWRP, patched recovery, different models and regions. But staying on region C316 you may not receive any update even. By my experience, Huawei updates popular regions and does not care operator's versions.
As alternative you can ask provider (if phone by contract), write to Huawei or wait for update.

Im from South Africa and yes the phone is on contract. Network is Vodacom which is part of Vodafone.. I dont understand why this stupid network didnt issue the international region as most phones come with European software installed or even middle east areas. I agree with you, i will have to rebrand my device. I have done flashing on samsung and LG phones but this is my first Huawei.. will read up on some posts and attempt.
was trying to update with Huawei updater 2.0 and hisuite, no luck.. gives me no internet connection error.. tried editing hosts file too but no luck

Finally managed to to install Android 8 and rebrand my device to europe firmware.. testing now.

It's an official beta, but still a beta.
Oreo for Mate 9 should arrive in December or January for everyone.
Right now you can only install beta by applying in Huaweis beta app, or cheat and use Hwota as you did
It's a very stable beta.

Ok good to know.
the software is very good and stable. I have had not crashes or lag.
But i do miss some features thats available on LG G5.. Always on display, double tap on screen to wake or sleep and day dream.. very impressed with battery thou

Don't flash using hwota or rebrand. Use firmware finder and download the updated C316 android 8 firmware

How offten is some fix/uprade for this phone?

It depends on who you ask.
Since its andriod one device official response is superfast updates and fixes.
Reality not so fast as of right now. Oreo was released and then pulled. So new users can't update to oreo from nougat through update (settings).
Hope that changes in coming months

The official wording is "monthly security updates", so it should be pretty regular. They just tripped over their own feet rolling out Android Oreo for the Mi A1, apparently they were not quite ready yet but released anyways because they had promised to do so. Presumably that will get better over time
You will definitely have one of the most up-to-date Android phones. My OnePlus X was still running Marshmallow with no official update in sight, so Nougat is already a pretty good update. I expect that it will take them another month to properly roll out Oreo. Android P is also promised, so you will very likely get the next major update as well next year.

Hmm I understand now, was upgrade available, but not it isn't.

Honor 8 EU model firmware B407

It looks like the July security patch has appeared in Firmware Finder. May be the EU will get Oreo at around August or September.

There has been a security update for marshmallow way after nougat got released.
That may still happen with Oreo, oreo and nougat are not necessarily excluding each other IMHO.

Last update that showed up on my phone before rebranding to L19 was the B405.
Why are Huawei/Honor so sloppy with their update distribution sometimes?

This seems really strange, I haven't even recieved B406 yet and Oreo is being released on another FRD-L09 model, but still they decide to release a new security patch-only update? Why couldn't they just pack it together with Oreo? :|

Guess they're just testing with the Russian L09, like they first did with China, and don't know when they'll release it in general Europe.

maybe because in Europe we are crybabies they want to be sure everything works fine
im still on 405 and its not a big deal, besides if you want to get oreo they 're many detailed guides to do so..

Well, i think apart Russian and Chinese models no one else has reveived Oreo. Also because it will be initially avaible from 31 July in Italy, then i guess, the rest of Europe.

if you want to get oreo just open threads that WERE made for it. If not, just wait for it to come

I like the idea of a thread that isn't littered with a load of tech geniuses engaging in baffling conversations about flashing Oreo via root software that I will never understand or attempt to use. I only run stock firmware and appreciate conversation about the progress of the rollout and a simple 'noob' thread makes sense to me. Just my opinion.

How do you know Oreo will be available in Italy on 31 July ?
I guess that if it is available in Italy ir will be in France/Germanyu/Spain/etc at the same time
