hello,
how can I do that while still using phone on gps or speaker ?
Not possible AFAIK, and that's actually a good thing. I wouldn't want any app to be taking video / photos of me in the background (when I have no idea what it's doing).

Rule one of any mobile phone videography is to switch to airplane mode anyway.
You don't want your beautifully composed video/timelapse dying mid-shoot cos your Nan accidentally snapchatted you a picture of her knitted stockings, yeah?
Do you mean to use your phone as a dashcam? There's a ton of apps to do that...

something simmilar, but not as dashcam, as a fix point video camera for 1h mechanical jobs. can you recomend an app ?
Try this dashcam app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.com.roadrecorder It works in the background, so it could work for you.

So a while back I asked who else had a problem where when they take a pic in portrait mode it comes out rotated (it looks fine in mediascape but when you look at it on a cpu or with a file manger its actually rotated) and I tried everything to fix it (repairing with update service and factory reset) but it didn't help. So I just downloaded this camera app because you can add effect to pics and when I looked at the pics I took with it their right side up. So I came to the conclusion that its the native camera app that has this problem and I just hope there's a way to fix it because its annoying :-\
So after trying out different camera apps I confirmed it is the native camera app, I hope this is fixed in the 2.1 update or a dev can do it when the boot is cracked =/ (I commented to also bump it and to see who else has this problem)

What?
Most real cameras are the same way. The orientation data from a camera can usually not be read by Windows Explorer/Photo Viewer/Website uploaders.
The other camera apps you claim work are taking the pics at a different resolution, instead of using the orientation sensor. (e.g., 600x800 instead of 800x600). It's pedantic, but, it's not a "bug" or a "fault".
I just re-read my original post and it makes perfect sense, but I guess I'll explain again. When I take a picture in portrait mode the picture looks fine in mediascape but if I look at it with a file manger or upload it to a CPU, Facebook etc its actually rotated to the left. And I don't have this problem with any other camera app. So how is my pictures being rotated to the left not a bug O_O

Use a regular camera. This happens all the time, as the camera always shoots in landscape orientation, and just adds some orientation data to the file.
Camera apps shoot in a different resolution than the native camera app. It's not a bug, just the X10 behaving like a regular camera would.
Well i for the record also irritate on this, even if it is a normal action. If i see something fun and want to share that on FB, and the pic gets rotated sideways, it spoils the fun :-\

But it's a 1 second click on FB to rotate the pic...
I hope mobile was in landscape mode and.not portrait.

Not in the FB app or mobile FB.

The X10 can view the full FB site just fine... still just a single click.
My X10 used to mess up the rotation of the pictures all the time. Even pictures taken in the X10 would show up rotated the wrong way in mediascape too. When I took a picture, and it did happen to be the right way up, once uploaded to facebook using the facebook app, it would be rotated the wrong way, regardless of whether it was taken landscape or portrait. This is definately a bug, as it never happens on my new phone, regardless of orientation of pic when it was taken... When I upload pics from my HTC, they are the correct way up, every single time..
It annoys me when people say there is no bug or it's the problem of the user... I have friends and my gf who unfortunately have to use the X10 still, and these things shouldnt happen! You shouldnt have to browse to the main site to rotate the photo, the facebook app or the phone should upload it properly..
The Desire uploads using "Facebook for HTC sense", maybe sony need a "Facebook for SE UI" or something to upload pictures properly.
Whether it's a bug with the X10, Android 1.6, or whatever, it shouldnt happen.
I too hope they fix this with the update, if and when it ever comes.
well, hopefully with everyone facing this same problem, SE will fix their damn app in the 2.1.x update.
it's stupid to upload from mediascape.. then go to the full site to re-orientate it.

Well, in my defense, you were incredibly vague in your original question...
You're looking for alternative video recording apps?
Another video related question....
Regardless of what app I'm using, I always have like a 15sec limit on video...how can I change the recording limit? Also, where is the option to change the saving location?
I am using a 32gb sd card, so I should have plenty of space. I'm still kind of new to Android, so these two things could be an easy fix and I just don't know how to do it.. Thank for any help.
Maybe you are on MMS setting, tap on upper left icon and change resolution from MMS to WVGA. It records always on microSD card, you cannot change that.
You nailed it, it was set on mms.. I figured it was something simple. Thanks for you help!

Anyone know of a slow motion video capture app? would be quite nice touch...
Don't shoot me if u allready know or allready posted somewhere else on XDA
On homescreen long press screen and select Shortcuts( or menu>add>shortcuts)
Select activities, sweep to Camera>expand and select camcorder. Et Voila! A direct shortcut to camcorder without starting the cam first.
Feel free to explore other hidden com.google activities without other 3rd party apps
nice one.
I use the recorder alot so this is sweet.
Not bad. I have set up a dock for the camera, gallery and camcorder to easily get to in LP. Hopefully use camcorder more often.

Very nice!!
I use Camera360 for taking pictures but always hated to have the original Galaxy S camera icon on my homescreen as well in case i want to shoot a video.
With this neat little trick i have a special videocamera icon + it´s a great time safer. THANX!!
Thanks for this useful tip.

Been using this app on icecoldsandwich 5.1 and have found a way around the camera glitch, just use burst mode and set it to 1 picture! The rom now takes perfect pictures I'm no expert on camera's but it might be that the faster shutter speed is doing the trick?
The problem with zoomfx in burst mode is you get not auto-focus and no flash..pictures will look like they were taken from an iPhone 2G hehe...
There's a better app out there IMO for those running ICS roms. Download UCAM from play store and you must be in burst mode for NO glitching. You can touch to focus just like stock camera, turn on flash and it will take up to 9 pictures. Enjoy

Interesting about UCAM. Whatever app is best should be mentioned within the ROM thread itself.
if you check the latest test build you will notice that there is a fix now posted for the stock camera. I am downloading the latest build at the moment
Turn off the annoying timer beep sound?
Hi,
Is there a way to turn off the annoying beep sound when using the timer function? Setting my phone on silent doesn't do it.

Use es file explorer, or something similar, enable r/w system, navigate to /system/media/notifications and delete the camera associated ogg files.

Is it possible to use nexus 7 as a webcam online ? Websites don't seem to see the camera or mic ? Is there a hack or app that will fix this ?
I would love to see this!
Go to the Play Store and get IP Webcam. This will stream video for you.

I want to use tablet as a webcam not stream video , that app dose nothing like that . Thanks tho
Not sure what you really want
You asked for an app that will allow the use of the Nexus 7 as a webcam on the Internet. If you are not streaming video, how are you going to use it?
With the app mentioned, it makes the output of the front facing camera available for access on your LAN or via the Internet assuming you setup your router properly. And webcam reading software works fine with it.
The camera is poor for that type of use for two reasons. 1) it is facing forward not out the back, and 2) it is not a very high resolution camera. Unless you were placing this somewhere in a fixed position, it is very hard to control as it ends up with an upside down image and is hard to point.
You can see it using webcam capture programs like tinyCam monitor from another device. It doesn't provide audio output.
If that is not what you are asking for, you need to provide a better description.
Screen capture of the output of the app mentioned above from a windows box using Active Webcam attached.

You need a chat app on your device then... not a webcam app.
I don't use MSN anything so I am not familiar with it or what that service provides, but something like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=miyowa.android.microsoft.wlm
might be a start.

Trying to get Chat Roulette going, eh? Just kidding. I don't think websites will work and you probably need an app.

I've visited a website that uses HTML5 instead Flash or Silverlight for their video on my GNote, and it worked with the built-in cameras. I don't recall the name of the website, but it was a chatroulette-like tech demo for HTML5. Once people start switching away from Flash we'll start seeing this more. It's pretty rare at the moment.

So, no luck for chatroullet users on nexus 7 ? That's a downer ...
If anyone come up with a solution for the chatroullet fans, I would apreciate the reply.
Thanks

Theres another app called droidcam wireless webcam. You download a desktop program to go along with the app. It works through wifi or usb, I used it through usb about a year and a half ago. From there, i ran it through manycam, which is a virtual webcam program, by selecting it as the video feed. At that point, it should work with any program and internet website...such as chatroullet . You should just select manycam as your default camera and it should work. I used it with skype though, so i cant verify if it works or not..but in theory it should.
Again, i keep saying should, because it might not work right away. It definitely took a bit of play with the settings (and lots of unplugging and replugging) before i got it to be functional. I'll be able to test it tomorrow night if you didnt get it up and runing, as i am currently on vacation.
cheers

EDIT: sorry, i misread this post. I cant help you with that one, but if you wanted to use it as an external computer webcam...see above .
Using IP Webcam, this is easy to do...
Download the latest Manycam program. In sources, select your ip webcam,( http://192.168.1.129:8080/videofeed )(example)
In your chat program select Manycam as the source.
That's going through windows, as far as using the nexus 7 by
Itself, its not possible.
